Rhonda Ramey
April 1, 1962 - January 7, 2015
Resided in Pebble Beach, CA
Rhonda Ramey, a long-time resident of the Monterey Bay area, died at her home with her family and friends in Pebble Beach on January 7 at age 52 from lung cancer.
She is survived by her husband John Paul Beaudoin; her sons Jordan Beaudoin and Nicolas Beaudoin; godsons J'Monie Walker and Billy Reynolds, sisters Melissa Ramey and Patricia Ramey and brother Vic Ramey. Her family and friends miss her and her generous spirit greatly.
After growing up in the Columbus, Ohio area, Rhonda moved to the Monterey area in 1981 when she was stationed at Fort Ord. Rhonda married John Paul Beaudoin in Pacific Grove in 1988. She was a devoted mother to sons Jordan and Nicolas and, in more recent years, to her "adopted son" J'Monie. Her warmth for and enduring loyalty to a large group of friends also represented a central part of her life. Rhonda brought an infectious brand of optimism to those close to her that will long be remembered and treasured.
A Memorial Service will be held for Rhonda Ramey on February 28, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. at the Church in The Forest in Pebble Beach.

She is survived by a many of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great, grand and even great, great, grand nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Annunciata and Gaudenzio Martella of Salinas, California (originally from Canton Ticino, Switzerland). Her parents arrived in America in the 1880s and began at a dairy in Monterey, then a dairy and dry farming in the Natividad area of Salinas and finally moved to their farm on the west side of town, on the road to Castroville. That farm is still Martella farmed and owned. She is also predeceased by her husband Harold S. Christensen and her siblings, William, Roy, Ann (Krusic), Lydia (Baetschen) and Sylvia (Petti). She and her siblings were first generation Swiss-Americans and she is a lifetime member of the Swiss-American Club. Joan Johnson, her eldest niece, of Chualar, California, has known Julia all her life and remembers her as always being a lot of fun.
Born at the family's home ranch, she attended primary school at Sacred Heart Convent in Salinas. Julia graduated from Salinas High School in 1934. Following high school graduation she attended beauty school in San Francisco and returned to Salinas to work as a hairdresser. In 1939, she became a charter member of Sigma Beta Phi sorority.
In April, 1937 she traveled with her mother on the Coronation Voyage of the Queen Mary to Europe. For four months they toured England, Germany, France, Italy and Switzerland. The last months of their trip were spent touring and visiting her parent's relatives in Switzerland.
February 21, 1941, she married Harold whose family owned a large farm on the land where Northridge Mall now stands. She left her position as a hairdresser to join her husband and carry on the family farming tradition begun by their parents.
In 1963, they moved into their dream home, on their ranch overlooking Natividad Creek. Designed as a typical California ranch style home with a sweeping driveway, the home has an ageless look about it. Her home was featured in Coastal Grower magazine's CG Showcase in spring 1997. Julia loved to entertain her family and friends in her spacious home, and until the week of her passing, she continued to enjoy the views of Mount Toro and Fremont Peak from her elegant rooms and graceful gardens.
While attending Madonna Del Sasso Catholic Church, she joined the Catholic Italian Federation that was instrumental in forming Madonna Del Sasso Church. As a dedicated parishioner of Madonna Del Sasso Church, she served on Altar Society and was a member of Angela's Angels.
A passionate golfer, she was a member of the Salinas Golf and Country Club and Corral De Tierra Country Club. She was an avid sportswoman and often accompanied her husband on duck hunting trips or to their ranch in Chualar for deer hunting.
During her marriage to Harold, they traveled to Chicago and New York, usually in conjunction with their business. After his death, she traveled extensively, often with her sisters Lydia Baetschen and Ann Krusic. Her journeys included the United States, Great Britain, Europe and China. Between her travels, she also continued to be actively involved in the ranch.
The family would like to thank Victorian Home Care and their dedicated caregivers for their compassionate kindness to our aunt these past three years.
