Clayton Charles Drake
December 16, 1924 - September 21, 2015
Resided in Royal Oaks, CA
Clayton C. Drake, 90, of Royal Oaks, passed away peacefully, in his home, on September 21, 2015 in Royal Oaks, California.
Clayton was born December 16, 1924 in Paso Robles, CA and moved to Monterey with his family when he was just 6 months old.
Clayton had a strong work ethic, landing his first job at the age of 17, at the Ft. Ord Paint shop.
Clayton had a strong desire to serve the country, and joined the Navy in 1943.
He proudly served for 3 years as a 3rd Class Petty Officer aboard the USS Case (DD-370), he was a part of the "The Great Marianas Turkey Shoot", and the bombing of Iwo Jima and took part of the Japanese surrender of the Bonin Islands on September 2nd, 1945.
Upon his honorable discharge from the Navy, he returned to work at Fort Ord, where he proudly worked for the next 31 years.
Clayton retired from the Presidio of Monterey Post Engineers.
Clayton loved painting with oil and canvas and many family members proudly display his art in their homes.
He enjoyed gardening and had quite the green thumb.
He also had a wide range of skills and built his home from the ground up.
He and his family lived in this home for over 61 years.
On any given Saturday, Clayton could be found in his kitchen, cooking a big breakfast for the family to enjoy.
Clayton was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, one brother, and sons Charles and Jan and daughter Charlotte.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, and love of his life Kloila Drake, his grandsons Kenny Ellsworth, Isaac Drake and Adam Drake, his great granddaughter Alyssa, brothers Merle Drake of Idaho and Donald Drake of Burney, CA.
Clayton was a best friend, father, grandfather, mentor, artist, and so much more.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm Friday, September 25, 2015 at Struve and Laporte Funeral Chapel, 41 West San Luis St, Salinas, CA 93901.
Graveside Services will be held on Friday, September 25, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Queen of Heaven cemetery, 18200 Damian Way, Salinas, CA 93907.
In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to a charity of your choice in Clayton's name.

Franklin John Ruegg
January 30, 1934 - September 19, 2015
Resided in Salinas, CA
Franklin John Ruegg, born January 30th 1934 to Gallus and Mary Ruegg.
He grew up working on the family dairy in Prunedale where he proposed to his loving wife Juanda Ruegg while changing irrigation pipes. They loved going to Swiss dances but their main passion was each other and family. Frank began working as a carpenter during the '50s and started his own business Matterhorn Construction. During that time he raised five children and their friends to whom he taught the importance of family unity and passed on many life values and skills. They grew up dancing as he played the accordion and enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and gardening together. After closing the construction business he continued to share his wisdom and skills with grandchildren, family and friends. He was a kind hearted and gentle man who believed in the simple pleasures of life. Frank enjoyed occasional trips to Reno with his good buddy George Pedrazzi and Tiny Guidotti. He continued to plant a large family garden every year.
Frank was called to rest on September 19, 2015, he will be missed but has planted many great memories in our hearts and souls that we will cherish forever.
He is survived by the love of his life Juanda Ruegg, His children and their spouses, Johnathan & Cindy Ruegg, Fronzaline Messerli, Rosalie & Greg Messerli, Heidi Schwartz and Coby & Deanna Ruegg, ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. His sister Marie Evenson, and a brother Louie & Helen Marchy.
He was involved with the California Waterfowl Association and received several honorable awards for outstanding services. He was also a member of The Swiss Rifle Club, The California Deer Association, The Native Sons of the Golden West and the Carpenters Union.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Family home on October 10, 2015 at 1pm.

Harold Walter Swiekatowski
May 12, 1924 - September 24, 2015
Resided in Salinas, CA
Harold Walter Swiekatowski, 91 of Salinas passed away Thursday, September 24, 2015. He was born May 12, 1924 in Chicago, IL.
Harold lived in Salinas for 54 years.
He was a member of the Chamber of Commerce volunteer, Food Bank, Madonna Del Sasso, American Legion since 1971, VFW life time member.
He was in the US Army 1948-1972 for 24 years, Stationary Engineer, Salverson 18 years.
Military Branch (Wars): Coast Guard (Water Tender 3rd Class) 11/1942-4/1946, US Army 1948-1972 E7 Sargent 1st Class) WWII, Vietnam 1968 and 1970.
Harold and Betty were married in Germany in March 18, 1952 they were able to celebrate their 60th anniversary
Preceded in death by, wife, Betty Swiekatowski May, 2012, and Daughter Rosann Caniglia, June, 2005.
Survivors: son Steve James, four grandchildren Sarah James, Steven James, Justin Caniglia, Jenna Caniglia and two Great Grandchildren Tent and Cody Caniglia.
Visitation will be held 1:00p.m. to 6:00p.m. Thursday, October 1, 2015 at Struve and Laporte Chapel, 41 W. San Luis Street, Salinas, CA. 93901
Rosary will be held at 6:00p.m. Thursday, October 1, 2015 at Struve and Laporte Chapel.
Funeral Mass will be held 10:00a.m. Friday, October 2, 2015 at Madonna Del Sasso Church, 320 E. Laurel Drive, Salinas, CA. 93906.

Honorable William F. Moreno
March 12, 1930 - September 25, 2015
Resided in Salinas, CA
The Honorable William F. Moreno 85 of Salinas passed away Friday, Sept 25, 2015. He was born March 12, 1930 in Melrose Park, Illinois.
Judge Moreno serviced the Court of Monterey County for 20 yrs. After his retirement he served as an assigned judge for 15 years. Bill was a member of the California Judge Association and served as a faculty member of the 1989 California Judicial Education and Research Judge College.
Judge Bill made time to work with several community organizations such as St. Vincent De Paul, Sun Street Center, Door to Hope and Christians in Commerce.
He is survived by his wife Bette of 67 years, his sons Ed-Dee, Mike-Araceli, Phillip, Christopher and his daughter Mary Hart- David, daughter in law Michelle.
A Celebration of Life will be held 11:00a.m. Saturday Oct 3, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1 Railroad Ave. Spreckels, CA. 93962.

Jean Marie Williamson

Jean Marie Williamson 93 of Salinas passed away Wednesday, September 16, 2015. She was born
October 21, 1921 in Granville, PA.
She was a member of the St. Paul's Episcopal Church, and Hospice Volunteer.
Jean was the manager of Cal-Hawaiian Mobile Home Park for 10 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Retired Major Ward W. Williamson in 1982.
She is survived by her daughters, Linda (Scott) Gray of Soulsbyville, CA., Elaine (Tim) Roberson of Salinas, son, Tom Williamson of Salinas, 5 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held 10:00a.m. to 1:30p.m. Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at Struve and Laporte Chapel, 41 W. San Luis Street, Salinas, CA. 93901.
Graveside Service will follow at 2:00p.m. September 22, 2015 at Garden of Memories Cemetery, 850 Abbott Street, Salinas, CA. 93901.

Joseph Narciso Micheli Jr.
December 12, 1962 - September 3, 2015

On Thursday, September 3, 2015 our beloved Joseph Narciso Micheli Jr (Jojo or Joe) passed away in Salinas California.
Joe was born and raised in Castroville. He lived there until 15 years ago when he moved to Salinas. He attended Palma High School, Hartnell College and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.
Joe was the general manager of Sea Breeze Harvesting for Ocean Mist Farms. Joe grew up in the artichoke fields working for his dad who was with Sea Mist farms. He started working as an intern at an early age and continued throughout his adult life. Overall Joe work for the companies for over 36 years.
Castroville held a very important role in Joe's life. He was involved and felt it was his duty to give back to this community. By doing this he was involved with Castroville artichoke Festival, Castroville club, the artichoke advisory board, North Monterey County recreation board, to name a few.
Joe is preceded in death by his loving father Joseph Narciso Micheli Sr (Joey).
Joe is survived by his mother Angie Micheli of Salinas, his sister Jill Micheli Schreiner of Woodland, his brother-in-law Eric Schreiner of Woodland, his two nieces Hannah Schreiner of Monterey and Cassidy Schreiner of Woodland, his aunt and uncle Eva Mae Sigala and Vic Sigala of Castroville and his cousins, Carolyn, Jeff, Michael, Dan and Kim.
Joe is also survived by his honorary family members and best friends Ken, Suzanne, Krista, and Kenny Kent.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, September 18, 2015 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Refuge Church, 11140 Preston St. Castroville CA 95012.

Norma Irene Swain
June 23, 1951 - September 28, 2015
Resided in Salinas, CA
We sadly inform the community of the loss of an amazing woman. Norma Irene Swain, 64, born on June 23rd 1951, passed away surrounded by her family and embraced with love. She was a six year breast cancer survivor that lost her battle to stage four lung cancer just twenty-two days after her diagnosis.
She is survived by her husband of fourty-five years Michael Swain, her three daughters, Renee Kennedy (John Kennedy), Sherry Swain, Crystal Swain (Ken Allerton), six grandchildren, Amanda Rubio (Jose Rubio), Nicholas Kennedy (Stacy Kennedy), Kimberly Kennedy (Michael Acosta), Stephanie Kennedy, Cullen Frost, Ian Frost, six great grandchildren and two sisters Cindy Lindo, and Debra Depellegrini.
She was preceded in death by her father Ernest Tice, her mother Una Irene Tice, her sister Carolyn Magallon, her niece Elizabeth Taughton, and her son-in-law David Frost.
A memorial service will be held at Struve & Laporte Funeral Chapel 41 W. San Luis St. Salinas Ca. 93901, October 10, 2015 at 11:00 am
We ask that all who attend wear a touch of pink in honor of Norma.
