Thomas Tiberghien

(July 6, 1924 - Oct. 1, 1999)

FAIRFIELD - Thomas Sheldon Tiberghien, 75, died Oct. 1 in Fairfield.

Mr. Tiberghien was born in Dubuque, Iowa, and had resided in San Francisco from 1962-1989 then lived in Vallejo until 1996 before moving to Fairfield three years ago. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and then worked as the curator for the Wax Museum, Fisherman's Wharf, San Francisco for 27 years, retiring in 1989.

He was an animal lover.

He is survived by his closest friends, Sharon Gregory of Green Valley and Margie A. Gomez of San Francisco.

Services will not be held, and inurnment is private.

Bryan-Braker Funeral Home made arrangements.

Tommy Langston

(Feb. 7, 1926 - Nov. 17, 1999)

BENICIA - Tommy Langston, 73, died Wednesday in a Vallejo hospital following a long illness.

Born in Liberty County, Fla., Mr. Langston had been a Benicia resident for more than 50 years. He served in the U.S. Air Force for eight years during the late 1940s and early 1950s.

Mr. Langston worked as a tugmaster at the Suisun Bay Reserve Fleet for more than 34 years, and retired in 1981.

His wife, Babe Langston, preceded him in death in 1992.

He is survived by a son, Robert (Kathleen) of Benicia.

Services will not be held.

Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Passalacqua Funeral Chapel, Benicia.

Contributions may be made to St. Dominic's School, 475 East I St., Benicia 94510.

Cleo Clifton Lovan

(Aug. 26, 1925 - Feb. 12, 2000)

Cleo Clifton Lovan, 74, died last week in Arizona after an unexpected illness. Mr. Lovan, a native of Willow Springs, Mo., moved to Vallejo in 1966 and opened the first of many transmission shops. His first shop was A.C. Transmissions and his most popular shop was Leo's Transmission. He served the people of Vallejo and Bay Area for 20 years before retiring to Tucson, Ariz., where he lived for more than 10 years. Mr. Lovan enlisted in the Navy in 1943, serving as the ship cook Third Class during World War II. He served on three different ships that sank and he earned many commendations, including the Philippine Liberation (2 stars), the Asiatic Pacific (3 stars), and the Victory Medal of World War II. Mr. Lovan is survived by two daughters, Nancy Trujillo, of Vacaville, and Beverly Davis, of Tucson; one son, Marty Jay Lovan, of Tucson; and six grandchildren, Eric and William Trujillo, of Vacaville, Corey Davis and Tonya Lovan, of San Diego, Marty Jay Lovan, of Vallejo, and Cleo Clifton Lovan III. Flowers can be sent to 127 American Way, Vacaville. Friend and family of Mr. Lovan will gather at noon Tuesday at Golden Gate National Cemetery, where he will be buried with his wife and son.

Margie Stovall

(Aug. 24, 1915 - Sept. 10, 2000)

Margie Stovall, 85, died Sunday at Sunbridge Convalescent Home after a brief illness.

Born in Alabama, Mrs. Stovall was a Vallejo resident who was a self employed homemaker, and a member of Friendship Baptist Church.

Mrs. Stovall was widowed.

Survivors include son, Austin of Sacramento, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be today from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Morgan  Jones Funeral Home, 4200 Broadway, Sacramento. There will be a funeral Friday at 3 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church, Vallejo, with Rev. Flowers officiating. Burial will follow at Camellia Memorial Lawn, Sacramento.

Alice Hembree

(June 13, 1924 - Feb. 9, 2001)

Alice E. Hembree, 76, died Friday at a local hospital following a short illness.

Mrs. Hembree was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. and was a Vallejo resident for 50 years. She was a homemaker who enjoyed playing bingo, and being with her friends and family.

Survivors include daughters, Sandra Kelsey of Portland, Oreg. and Frances A. Stewart of Reno; son, Parker Benny Leach Jr. of Chico; sister, Laura of San Diego; brother, Lawrence McDermott of Hawaii; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Burial in Skyview Memorial Lawn, Vallejo. Arrangements by Skyview Memorial Lawn.

Soledad De Guzman

(Dec. 19, 1909 - Feb. 14, 2000)

Soledad Dela Cruz De Guzman, 90, died Monday in a local hospital after a short illness.

Mrs. De Guzman was born in Camiling, Tarlac, Philippines, and was a resident of Vallejo for 20 years. She was a homemaker and was a member of St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church.

She is survived by her husband, Pablo of Vallejo; three daughters, Nemesia Malquisto and Aida Guya, both of Vallejo, and Remedios Terrado of the Philippines; two sons, Juanito of San Francisco, and Abelardo of the Philippines; a brother, Santiago Dela Cruz of the Philippines; 19 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from noon-9 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Skyview Funeral Chapel.

Recitation of the rosary will be at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, and a Catholic prayer service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with St. Vincent Ferrer Church officiating. Burial follows in Skyview Memorial Lawn Cemetery.

Anita Hobaugh

(Jan. 29, 1917 -Feb. 12, 2000)

Anita Alice Adams Hobaugh, 83, died Saturday at home.

Mrs. Hobaugh was born in St. Louis, Mo., to Blakeney Slayback Adams and Mollie An Bennett. She was a resident of Vallejo, and she offered her services in PTA, Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts. She also worked as a volunteer at the Vallejo Convalescent Home.

She enjoyed dancing, singing, bowling and camping in the beautiful Lake Tahoe, Bass Lake and coastline. She and her late husband became members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1971 and became active in teaching, leadership roles and singing in the choir.

Her husband of 63 years, Harry James Hobaugh, who worked in the Power Plant at Mare Island Naval Shipyard, retired as superintendent of the Public Works Utility Shop in 1972 after 30 years of service, preceded her in death by two years.

She is survived by her children, Harry Jr. and Dave Hobaugh, and Mollie Sorensen of Napa, Anita Lynn of Santa Barbara, and Marilyn Sowards of San Jose; 33 grandchildren; and 49 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call noon-8 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Richard Pierce Funeral Service, Napa.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Vallejo First Ward. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. in Tulocay Cemetery, Napa.
