Chot Rosen

Aug. 15, 1949 -- May 25, 2002

Chot E. Rosen, 52, died Saturday after an automobile accident near Jean, Nev.

Mrs. Rosen was born in the Philippines, and was a Vallejo resident from 1994 to 2000, and a Calabasas resident for three years.

She graduated with the class of 1972 from Aurollo Lyceum College in the Philippines.

Mrs. Rosen was an avid bingo player.

Survivors are her husband, Larry of Calabasas; stepsons, Les, Craig and Jay all of Agoura Hills; parents, Procopio and Juliana Esguerra of Vallejo; sister, Thelma Blue of Vallejo; brothers, Paulino and Realante Esguerra both of the Philippines.

Visitation will be held 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with a vigil at 7 p.m., May 30 at Colonial Chapels, Vallejo. A Catholic prayer service will be held 11 a.m., May 31 at Colonial Chapels, Vallejo. Burial at All Souls Catholic Cemetery, Vallejo.

Dudley Welch

Nov. 23, 1942 -- July 16, 2002

Dudley Allen Welch, 59, died July 16 unexpectedly of heart disease.

Mr. Welch was a resident of Springfield, Mo.

He worked at Unocal for 30 years before retiring in 1995.

Survivors include his mother, Kathleen of Springfield, Mo., and daughters, Amy Rigsby of Bay Point and Audrey Fry of Benicia.

A private memorial service will be held in Springfield, Mo.

Donations may be made in his memory to the American Heart Association, 1710 Gilbreth Road, Burlingame, CA 94010.

Arrangements are under the direction of Passalacqua Funeral Chapel, Benicia.

Claude Prater

Oct. 10, 1951 -- March 23, 2003

Claude Ray Prater, 51, died March 23 at the San Mateo Medical Center after a short illness.

Mr. Prater was born in Lake Charles, La.

Mr. Prater worked as a maintenance worker for Project 90 Rehabilitation Center in San Mateo.

He loved painting houses and fixing up gardens and enjoyed sharing God's Word. He also enjoyed watching wrestling matches. He was a good advocate for fellow members of Project 90.

Mr. Prater was preceded in death by his mother, Ester Mae Prater, who died Feb. 26, 1998.

He is survived by his father, Elwood Sr. of  Louisiana; sisters, Grace  White of South San Francisco; Patricia Rubit of La.; Peggy Ann Cotlong of South San Francisco; Mary Stone of American Canyon; brothers, Elwood Jr., Edwin James and Keith Austin, all of  Louisiana, and Donald Thomas of Sacramento and Phillip Wade of Pittsburg and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. March 25 at Colonial Chapels, Vallejo. Services will be held 10 a.m., March 27 at the mortuary. The Rev. Damonn  White of New Providence Baptist Church in San Francisco will be officiating. Burial is in Skyview Memorial Lawn, Vallejo.

Robert Morris

April 13, 1933 -- July 16, 2002

Robert Earl Morris, 69, died July 16 at St. Helena Hospital after a short illness.

Mr. Morris, also known as "Bob" was born in Angels Camp, and was a longtime Vallejo resident until last year, when he and his wife moved to Clearlake.

He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany from 1949 to 1951.

Mr. Morris worked at Benner Nawman from 1956 to 1967 as a sheet metal worker. He then worked two years on a whaling ship in Richmond.

Later, he worked for Myers Drum Company also in Richmond, until 1982 when he retired after a major heart attack.

Mr. Morris was a member of the Moose Lodge for 29 years.

He enjoyed fishing, reading, riding his bike and helping people.

He and his wife had recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with family and friends.

Mr. Morris was preceded in death by his son, Steven.

Survivors include his wife, Darlene of Clearlake; daughter, Vicky of Antelope; sons, Jeffrey of Clearlake; and Gary of Vallejo; brother, William of Scottsdale, Ariz.; his half brother, Richard Sewell of Spokane, Wash.; and four grandchildren, Douglas, Donny, Christopher, Janessa and 25 nieces and nephews.

The family will hold a private memorial on July 27 in Clearlake to celebrate his life.

Charles Johnson

Aug. 19, 1919 -- March 23, 2003

Charles Franklin Johnson, 83, died suddenly at home Sunday.

He was born in Martin, Utah, and was a Vallejo resident for 47 years.

He was Chief Commissary Steward for the U.S. Navy for 20 years retiring in 1956. He also worked at Mare Island Naval Shipyard for many years after Navy retirement. He was a submarine veteran.

Mr.  Johnson was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Church of Latter-Day Saints in Vallejo.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Theo; sister, Frances Beard and his brother, Doram.

Survivors include his brother, Harold of Mapleton, Utah and his niece also of Utah.

Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m., March 29 with a funeral following at Skyview Funeral Chapel, Vallejo. Burial in Skyview Memorial Lawn. COJC of Latter-Day Saints will officiate the services.
