Eleanor Ann Ferraris

A Mass of Christian Burial for Eleanor Ann Ferraris, 75, of Fairfield, will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fairfield.

The Rev. Michael Downey of Holy Spirit Church will officiate. Interment will be at Rockville Cemetery.

Mrs. Ferraris died Monday in David Grant Medical Center after a long illness.

Born April 12, 1922, in Clinton, Iowa, she moved to Fairfield 40 years ago. She served 15 years with the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force before retiring. She served in the United States Army as a nurse during World War II. She served in the United States Air Force as a nurse during the Korean War. After the Korean War, she was stationed at Travis Air Force Base as a nurse. She left the Air Force in 1955 as a captain.

She was a loving mother and grandmother who devoted her life to her family for more than 40 years.

Mrs. Ferraris is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Ann and Danny Valtierra of Fairfield and Julia and Sam Lopez of Vacaville; step-daughter Susan Cole of Lafayette; son and daughter-in-law Peter and Tammy of Fort Lupton,  Colo.; son James of Sonoma; stepson Paul of Albuquerque, N.M.; sister and brother-in-law Patricia and Jerry Byers of Clinton, Iowa; and sister Catherine Donahue of Clinton; five grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1962, Major Robert E. Ferraris, USAF, Active Duty.

Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Thursday, and Rosary will be 7 p.m. on Thursday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Gladys Nell Havey

Funeral services for Gladys Nell Havey, 96, of Fairfield will be 1 p.m. Sunday in the Fairfield Funeral Home.

The Rev. Vic Matson of Community United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be private in the Fairfield-Suisun Cemetery.

Mrs. Havey died Saturday, at La Mariposa Convalescent Hospital after a long illness.

Born Dec. 30, 1900, in Tracy, Iowa, she moved to Fairfield 30 years ago.

She had worked as a home economics teacher in the Berkeley Unified School District for 30 years when she retired. She was a member of the Senior Americans Club, Methodist Women and Creative Arts Group.

Mrs. Havey is survived by a stepdaughter, Lorayne Durdle of Vancouver, Wash.; nieces Marcia Fredenburg of Fair-field, Marilee Silva of Albion and Bertha Myrah of Crescent City; two step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Saturday in Fairfield Funeral Home.

Joseph Albert Niderost

There will be a private inurnment for Joseph Albert Niderost, 78, of Suisun City.

Born Jan. 30, 1919, in Hopland, he died Sept. 22, 1997, at NorthBay Medical Center.

He loved gardening and worked as a tree surgeon for 15 years for Sohner Tree Service. He was also a 10-year resident of Rohnert Park.

Mr. Niderost is survived by his wife, Reta of Suisun City; sons Joseph of  Washington and James of Utah; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Juan Castro Santos

Funeral services for Juan Castro Santos, 77, of Fairfield will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Fairfield. A rosary will be at 7 tonight at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.
Inurnment will be 11 a.m. Monday at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Colma.

Born Nov. 24, 1919, in Agana, Guam, Mr. Santos died Sept. 22, 1997, in Fairfield after a short illness.

He worked for 24 years as a licensed vocational nurse, last working at Peninsula Hospital in Burlingame.

Mr. Santos is survived by his wife, Doris of Fairfield; daughters, Juanita Ignacio of Kileen,  Texas, Lolita Olivares of San Francisco, Rosita Healy of Yuba City, Eloise Cole of Hong Kong and Josephine McLean of Sacramento; son, Tomas of Guam; stepdaughter, Francis Plante of Fall River, Mass.; sister, Ana Manglona of Guam; 15 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death in 1971 by his wife, Josefina Aflague Santos.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Marjorie Ary

A family service for Marjorie Ary, 58, of Suisun City will be 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday. A special prayer will be recited at 2 p.m. Inurnment will be private.

Born Dec. 21, 1938, in Providence, R.I., Mrs. Ary died Sept. 22, 1997, at her home.

She worked for Kaiser Haskons Plastics in San Leandro for 17 years and most recently as a quality-control inspector for American National Can in Newark for eight years. She retired in 1996.

She was a longtime member of the Israelite Baptist Church of Oakland and the North Bay Faith Center of Suisun City. She was a devoted bingo player, and was a fan of the Oakland A's and Raiders.

Mrs. Ary lived in Oakland for 18 years, and in Providence for 30 years.

She is survived by her daughter, Jane Wesley of Suisun City; son, Edward Lee Russell Jr. of Fairfield; sisters, Myrtle Odom, her twin, of Suisun City; Dolores Robinson, Anna Allen, Marie Martin, Winnifred Costa of Providence, Geraldine Williams, Eleanor LeCount, Gladys Crum, Janet Mangum of San Leandro and Beverly Freeman of Decature, Ill.; brothers, Jesse Crum Jr., Robert Crum, LeRoy Crum, Melvin Crum, William Crum, and Stanley Crum of Providence; granddaughter, Ellsi Karin Russell of Fairfield; and several nieces and nephews.

Contributions can be made to the Kaiser Hospice, 975 Sereno Drive, Vallejo 94589-2485.

Arrangements are by Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Norene Lucille Daniels

There will be no services and inurnment will be private for Norene Lucille Daniels, 95.

Born Oct. 9, 1901, in  Oklahoma, Ms. Daniels died Sept. 24, 1997, in Vacaville.

Ms. Daniels and her late husband, Jack, were restaurant owners for 20 years in Vinita, Okla., before moving to Vacaville in 1975.

She also was employed by Vanity Fair ladies ready-to-wear for 20 years.

She enjoyed cooking, fancy needlework, reading and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her daughter, Jackie Gilley of Vacaville; granddaughters, Kay Sue Watkins, and Claudia and her husband, Bill Samolis; great-grandchildren, Tim Samolis and Tad Samolis, Kristina Kay and Robby Watkins, all of Vacaville; and great-great-granddaughter, Jordyn Nicole Samolis of Vacaville.

Dorothy June Hindes

A memorial service for Dorothy June Hindes, 93, of Vacaville will be 11 a.m. Monday at McCune Garden Chapel. The Rev. Ernest Tufft of Covenant Community Church will preside.

Born June 9, 1904, in Eureka, Mrs. Hindes died Sept. 20, 1997, in Whittier after a brief illness. She had been a resident of Leisure Town since November 1974.

Mrs. Hindes attended Napa Business College and had been a bookkeeper for her father's business manufacturing Pendleton shirts. She taught ballroom dancing as a teenager, and she made bassinet nets for infants as well as patented "Celunets," a covering for infants' hands to prevent thumb-sucking.

She enjoyed playing bridge and spending time with her family and friends in Leisure Town.

Mrs. Hindes is survived by her son, Walter Edward of Whittier; grandson, Michael of Fresno; granddaughter, Michelle Love of Fairfield; and great-grandson, Robert John Dunfield of Fairfield.

Angelina 'Angie' Virginia Stevens

A Mass of Christian Burial for Angelina "Angie" Virginia Stevens, 86, of Vallejo will be 11 a.m. Monday at St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church. Rosary will be 8 p.m. Sunday at Colonial Chapels.

Burial will be in the Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Born April 28, 1911, in Vacaville, Mrs. Stevens died Sept. 25, 1997, at a local hospital after a short illness.

She was a homemaker and an avid gardener. She was a member of St. Vincent's Church, St. Basil's Church and the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union Retirees Club. She had been a member of the St. Vincent's Mothers Guild, St. Basil's Mothers Guild and the Vallejo General Hospital Guild.

Mrs. Stevens is survived by her son, John of Vallejo; and granddaughters, Lisa of Reno and Kristi of Vallejo.

She was preceded in death by sisters, Helen Roderick and Lena Souza, who both died in 1996.

Ann Murasko

A Catholic Liturgy Service for Ann Murasko, 92, will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Lafferty & Smith Colonial Chapel, 4321 Sonoma Highway, in Santa Rosa. Burial will be private in Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Born in Mount View, Hawaii, Mrs. Murasko died Sept. 23, 1997, in Healdsburg.

She was one of the first cooks for the Nut Tree Restaurant in Vacaville when it started out as a fruit stand along Interstate 80. She loved to fish and garden, and was best known for her pie-making.

Mrs. Murasko is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Paul Sr. and Reba of Santa Rosa, and Michael and Michelle of Vacaville; grandchildren, Paul Jr. of Santa Rosa, Tina and Jeff Hurt of Windsor, Debra and Chris Kramer of Santa Rosa, Don and Sylvia, and Mike, all of Sacramento, Shawn and Chris Bush of Rocklin, and Shane and Dana Bush of New York; and great-grandchildren, Paige Hurt of Windsor, Alicia Kramer and Theresa Kramer of Santa Rosa, and Sarah Bush of New York.

Visitation information is available at the Colonial Chapel from noon to 8 p.m. today.

Roy Chester Boyd

Funeral services with full military honors for Roy Chester Boyd, 78, of Fairfield will be 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Tri-City Friendship Missionary Baptist Church.

The Rev. O.C. Cooper will officiate. Burial will be at Rockville Cemetery.

Born July 8, 1919, in Starksville, Miss., Mr. Boyd died Tuesday in NorthBay Medical Center after a long illness.

He moved to Fairfield 41 years ago, and served in the Air Force from 1941 to 1973. He retired in 1973 as a master sergeant. He then worked at Mare Island Naval Shipyard in Vallejo as an engineer for 19 years.

Mr. Boyd is survived by his wife, Johnnie of Fairfield; stepdaughters, Beverly Pringle and Debra Walton, both of Fairfield; stepsons, John Walton of Denver, Ronald Alexander of Stockton; Donald Poston of Fairfield, Julius Lacey of Sacramento, Troy Henderson of East Palo Alto; sister, Mary Louise Sykes of Maywood, Ill.; brother, Charles W. Boyd of St. Louis; mother-in-law, Drusie Robinson of Fairfield; 32 step-grandchildren and 53 step-great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are by Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Stanley A. Giles

Private services will be held for Stanley A. Giles, 69, of Vacaville.

Born Aug. 10, 1928, in Seneca, Neb., Mr. Giles died Sept. 22, 1997, in Vacaville after a short illness.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1946 to 1952, participating in the occupation of China and in the Korean War.

After the Marines, Mr. Giles spent 38 years in the Operating Engineers Local No. 3 as a pile driver/crane operator. He retired in 1988.

Mr. Giles is survived by his wife of 45 years, Christina, and sons, Ron of Elk Grove, William of Gig Harbor, Wash., and George of Fairfield.

Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Arrangements are being handled by the Neptune Society.

Kathryn 'Kate' Gunter

At the request of the family, no formal services will be held for Kathryn "Kate" Gunter, 47, of Fairfield. Inurnment will be private.

Born Jan. 30, 1950, in South Bay, Fla., Miss Gunter died Monday in Martinez after a long illness.

A 25-year resident of Fairfield, she was in the U.S. Air Force for eight years, worked as a medic in the Air Force and was self-employed as a domestic worker for 15 years. She was a member of the St. Catherine of Siena in Florida.

Miss Gunter loved to read and was a very outgoing person with lots of caring friends.

Miss Gunter is survived by her parents, Angela Hanson and Chuck Hanson, both of Fairfield.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, 1312 Maryland St., Fairfield, 94533.
