Leo William MacKenzie
A private memorial for Leo William MacKenzie, 80, will be held at a later date. Born Aug. 14, 1917, in Vallejo, Mr. MacKenzie died May 12, 1998, in Napa after a long illness.
A longtime resident of Vallejo, Mr. MacKenzie attended Saint Vincent Ferrer High School. And on July 15, 1940, he entered the Coppersmith Apprentice Program at Mare Island Naval Shipyard.
In January 1943, Mr. MacKenzie was promoted to journeyman coppersmith, leaving in June 1946 to serve in the Army.
He returned to Mare Island in December 1947 from a military furlough, and was promoted to leadingman coppersmith in August 1957. He received additional advancements and retired on Dec. 31, 1973, as a pipefitter general foreman.
He was an avid horseman and served as president of the Vallejo Horsemen's Association from 1961 to 1970.
Mr. MacKenzie is survived by his wife, Patsy of Vallejo; daughter, Karen MacKenzie Desmarais of Vacaville; granddaughter, Denise Horne of Vacaville; stepchildren, Thomas Lilley of Virginia Beach, Va., and Judith Hair of Vallejo; and stepgrandchildren, Brenna Lilley and Kerry Ann Moulton, both of Virginia, Beach, Va., and Tristan Hair of Vallejo.

Gwendolyn Marie Mansfield
Memorial services for Gwendolyn Marie Mansfield, 58, of Vacaville will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Vaca Hills Chapel. Inurnment will be private in Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.
Born Jan. 26, 1940, in Omaha, Neb., Mrs. Mansfield died May 13, 1998, at Vaca Valley Hospital after a sudden illness.
Mrs. Mansfield was a bank service representative for 15 years. She enjoyed gardening, and had moved to the area 25 years ago.
Mrs. Mansfield is survived by her husband, Walter of Vacaville; daughters, Kelly Brown and Carey, both of Vacaville; sons, John Fletcher of Vallejo, Walter Jr. of Vacaville, and Andy Fletcher of Vacaville; mother, Olive Davis of Nebraska; brothers, Jack and Walt Davis, both of Nebraska; sister, Kathy Barges of Nebraska; and six grandchildren.
Arrangements are by Vaca Hills Chapel.
Diodoro 'Papa' Castellucci
A Mass of Christian Burial for Diodoro "Papa" Castellucci, 98, of Vacaville will be 10:30 a.m. on Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church.
The Rev. Benedict DeLeon will officiate. Burial will be at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Sunday at McCune Garden Chapel.
Mr. Castellucci died May 14, 1998, in his Vacaville home after a long illness.
Born February 27, 1900, in Jersey City, N.J., he moved to Vacaville more than 60 years ago. He worked for Basic Vegetable for 12 years and on several other ranches in the area.
Mr. Castellucci was a member of the Basic Founders Club, the Italian Catholic Federation Branch No. 167, the Senior Citizen Club and St. Mary's Catholic Church. He enjoyed traveling, gardening and remodeling and touched many lives with his humor.
Mr. Castellucci is surved by two daughters, Antonietta Castellucci of Vacaville, and Josephine Panaggio and her husband, Pasquale of Fall River, Mass.; two sons, Alfonso of Chicago and Pasquale of Hawaii; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was proceded in death by his wife, Maria Antonia, and a daughter, Angelina.
Visitation is at McCune Garden Chapel from 5 to 8 p.m. on Sunday.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be given to Hospice, 975 Sereno Drive, Vallejo 94589.
Velma Ewing-Henry-Gardner
A memorial service was held April 24 for Velma Ewing-Henry-Gardner, 53, of Santa Cruz in Calvary Episcopal Church in Santa Cruz.
Born March 11, 1945, in Kentucky, she died April 10, 1998, in Los Gatos after a long illness.
She lived in Solano County for 11 years and was a graduate of Johnson High School in Yokoto, Japan. She completed two years of study at Napa Valley College and attended Cabrillo College near Santa Cruz.
She had been a stewardess for Seaboard World Airlines for 10 years and was manager of B. Dalton Bookstore in Los Gatos and had worked at "The Book Store Santa Cruz."
She was daughter of the late retired Air Force Maj. James Ewing.
Mrs. Gardner is survived by her husband, Donald of Santa Cruz; daughter, Selene Henry Johnson of Santa Cruz; mother, Velma Ewing of Vacaville; sisters, Janice Ewing of Oakland and Cassandra Ewing Lloyd of Columbia, Md.; and brother, James Ewing of Cerritos.
Arrangements were handled by Norman's Family Chapel in Soquel.
Donna Mae Hansen
Funeral services for Donna Mae Hansen, 77, of Vacaville will be 1:30 p.m. today at McCune Garden Chapel.
Chaplain W.B. Barnes of the Sheriff's Department will preside. Burial will be private.
Born Jan. 20, 1921, in Henrietta County, Okla., Mrs. Hansen died May 13, 1998, in Vacaville after a long illness. She was a resident of Vacaville for 27 years.
Mrs. Hansen was a veteran of World War II, and was a captain in the nursing field. She served in the European theater during the Battle of the Bulge under Gen. George S. Patton.
She traveled extensively as a registered nurse with the Army and was in private practice, during which time she continued to serve as a nurse in the United States and Panama Canal area.
Mrs. Hansen is survived by her husband of 56 years, Clarence P. "CP" Hansen of Vacaville; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Jorge Martinez of Redondo Beach; sons and daughters-in-law, David and Kathleen of Sacramento, and Robert and Sandra of White Lake, Mich.; grandchildren, Kristina and Andy Martinez of Redondo Beach, and Kimberly, Erik, Donna James, and Larry, all of Vacaville.

Nicholas Charles Lanning
A memorial service for Nicholas Charles Lanning will be 11 a.m. Monday at Fairfield Freewill Baptist Church. The Rev. Sam Hensley will officiate.
A private burial will follow at the Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery.
Born May 12, 1998, Nicholas died the same day.
He is survived by his mother and father, Loretta and Gary of Cordelia; brother, Christopher of Cordelia; maternal grandparents, Art and Helen Shahan of Fairfield; paternal grandmother, Irene Cooper of Fairfield; great-grandmother, Bonzie Shahan of Oklahoma; and numerous aunts and uncles.
'CJ' Regacho-Bernardo
Inurnment for newborn "CJ" Regacho-Bernardo of Fairfield will be at Fairmont Memorial Park. He was stillborn at David Grant Medical Center on May 12, 1998.
He is survived by his parents, Jennifer Regacho of Vacaville and Carlo Bernardo of Suisun; and grandparents, Mercy and Jose Regacho of Vacaville, and Nora and Rey Bernardo of Suisun.

Berton LaMar Stoddard
Graveside services for Berton LaMar Stoddard, 85, of Galt will be 2 p.m. Monday at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.
Born Feb. 24, 1913, in Duboise, Idaho, Mr. Stoddard died May 15, 1998, at Lodi Memorial Hospital after a long illness. He lived in the Vacaville area for 36 years, and in Lodi since 1984.
Mr. Stoddard worked as a lineman and supervisor for Pacific Bell in Vacaville for 36 years. He was a past master of Vacaville Masonic, and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Galt.
He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Mr. Stoddard is survived by his wife, Thelma of Galt; son, Richard L. of Sandy, Utah; daughters, Jean Kaanehe of Concord and Dianne S. Kroutil of Turlock; half-brothers, Burton Silcock of Nampa, Idaho, and Donald Silcock of Burley, Idaho; half-sisters, Beaulah Hanks of Burley, Idaho, and Barbara Jones of Washington; stepdaughter, Janet K. Campbell of Antioch; nine grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and three great-stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy; and stepson, Kenneth R. Russell.

Lyle Francis Holloway
Upon his request, there will be no funeral services for Lyle Francis Holloway, 71, of Fairfield.
Born Feb. 12, 1927, in Des Moines, Iowa, Mr. Holloway died May 12, 1998, at NorthBay Medical Center in Fairfield after a short illness.
He lived in Fairfield for 30 years and in Benicia for five. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He worked as a machinist at the Mare Island Naval Shipyard for 31 years.
He was a member of the Green Tree Golf Club in Vacaville.
Mr. Holloway is survived by his son, Frank of Fairfield; brother, Elbert of Washington; and sister, Margaret Tiernan of Iowa.

John Anthony Hancock
Services were held at Mountain View Cemetery
for John Anthony Hancock, 57, of Lake Berryessa in Napa County, who died at home May 4, 1998, of heart failure.
A native of San Bernardino, Mr. Hancock was a descendant of three pioneer families of that area: the Hancock, Rouse and Brown families.
He served in the Army 82nd Airborne and was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received during combat in a Santo Domingo rebellion. He worked for the California Department of Corrections for 25 years, most of which was spent at California Medical Facility, and had medically retired early this year.
His survivors included his brother, Michael of Vacaville; daughter, Jill Marie Hunt of Colorado; many relatives of San Bernardino; and his special friend of Napa, Linda Savage.
Javier Castro
A memorial service for Javier Castro, 87, of Fairfield is scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fairfield.
The Rev. Umberto Penunuri will officiate. Entombment will be at Fairmont Memorial Park in Fairfield.
Mr. Castro died May 15, 1998, at Sunrise Health Care in Fairfield after a long illness.
Born April 1, 1911, in Zaropan, Jalisco, Mexico, Mr. Castro was a farm and ranch worker in the Fairfield area for 42 years.
He is survived by his wife, Elva; daughters, Lucina Ibarra of San Francisco and Marie Elena Santana of Daly City; sons, Leopoldo Castro of Suisun City and Baudelio and Alfonso Castro, both of Fairfield; sisters, Guadelupe Frias of San Francisco, Maria Encarnacion of Mexico, and Margarita Ramirez of La Verne; brother, Jesus Castro of Los Angeles; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield from 5 to 9 p.m. today and Tuesday. A rosary will be 7 p.m. Tuesday, also at the funeral home.
Ruth Kirkpatrick
A memorial service for Ruth Kirkpatrick, 72, of Clearlake will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial will be private.
Mrs. Kirkpatrick died May 14, 1998, at St. Helena Hospital in Deer Park.
Born May 16, 1925, in Albion, she spent 18 years in Lower Lake, 35 years in Vallejo and two years in Vacaville. Five years ago, Mrs. Kirkpatrick moved to Clearlake.
She was a member of the Friends of Animals in Vallejo and enjoyed several hobbies, including crafts, painting, baking, interior decorating and being with her grandchildren. Mrs. Kirkpatrick in 1980 won the Vallejo Beautification Award for her Victorian home.
Mrs. Kirkpatrick is survived by her husband, Gene; daughters, Sharon Posedel Smith of Vallejo, Shirley Posedel Spadorcio of Vacaville, and Eileen Posedel Lee of Benicia; sister, Ida Pine of Milpitas; brothers, Hugh and George Rose, both of Mokelumne; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Tessie McPeters
Funeral services for Tessie McPeters, 78, are scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield.
The Rev. Jonathan Wilson will officiate. Burial will be at the Rockville Cemetery
in Suisun City.
Mrs. McPeters died May 15, 1998, at Winsor House in Vacaville after a long illness.
Born Feb. 20, 1920, in Anonna, Texas, Mrs. McPeters was a homemaker for 58 years. She lived in Vacaville for the past seven years.
Mrs. McPeters is survived by daughter, Gloria McPeters of San Francisco; son-in-law, Henry Paige Jr. of Suisun City; sister, Irene McNeely of San Francisco; 24 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by five children: Martha E. Harper, James McPeters, Rose McPeters, Edward McPeters-Battes, and Louise Paige.
Visitation will be held today from 5 to 9 p.m. at in Fairfield at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.
Dorothy Mercedes Raub
A graveside funeral service for Dorothy Mercedes Raub, 92, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Memory Gardens Memorial Park in Concord.
Ms. Raub died May 13, 1998, at Good Samaritan Adult Care Home in Suisun City after a long illness.
Born March 5, 1906, in Liberal, Kan., Ms. Raub received a master's degree in music from Bethany College in Kansas on Jan. 26, 1930. She went on to serve 30 years as the executive director of recreation of the American Red Cross at the U.S. Hospital at Travis Air Force Base before retiring in 1968.
Ms. Raub also was a volunteer as a docent for the Fairfield Center for Creative Arts.
She is survived by special friends, Danny and Noreen Ramos of Fairfield and Katelynn Ramos, also of Fairfield.
Visitation will be held today from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield.
