Donald L. Erickson

Funeral services for Donald L. Erickson, 80, of Vacaville will be held at 6 p.m. Dec. 8 at the First Baptist Church, 1127 Davis St. in Vacaville.

Pastor Rutledge will officiate.

Mr. Erickson died on Nov. 24, 1998, in Vacaville Convalescent and Rehabilitation Center after a battle with cancer.

Born on Feb. 11, 1918, in Albany, Ore., he moved to the area from San Mateo in 1990.

Until he resigned in late October, Mr. Erickson had worked as a part-time crossing guard in Vacaville since 1991.

Two summers ago, he received the city's "There for You" award for his dedication.

He also served as chaplain of Vacaville's American Legion, was an active member of the First Baptist Church, sang in the choir, enjoyed helping at the Winsor House and was a member of the Moose Lodge of Vacaville.

He is survived by his daughter, Patty "Marty" Martin of Vacaville.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Legion of Vacaville.

John Grover Hicks

Funeral services for John Grover Hicks, 42, of Vallejo will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Skyview Funeral Chapel, 200 Rollingwood Drive, Vallejo.

Burial will follow.

Mr. Hicks died on Nov. 28, 1998, in Sacramento after a car accident.

Born Nov. 27, 1956, he was a lifelong resident of Vallejo.

He owned and ran a furniture moving business for 10 years. Known as the family jokester, he was mechanically inclined and liked performing magic tricks.

He is survived by his former wife and close friend, Tina M. Hicks of Oceanside; sons, Jon M. Hicks of Upperlake and Anthony M. Hicks of Vallejo; mother, Helen A. Hicks of Vallejo; grandmother, Lillian Mendoza of San Leandro; sisters, Linda L. Dani of Vallejo and Shirley A. Reynolds of Vacaville; brothers, Greg L. Hicks of Sacramento, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Leo.

Visitation is slated from 3-8 p.m. today at Skyview Funeral Chapel.

KaraAnn Leonor Miller

A Catholic funeral Mass for KaraAnn Leonor Miller, 18, of Fairfield will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday in the Holy Spirit Church at 1050 North  Texas St.

The Rev. Michael Downey will officiate.

A private burial service will follow the ceremony.

Ms. Miller died Nov. 29, 1998, in a Fairfield automobile accident.

She was born June 18, 1980, in Bogota, Colombia. A 1998 graduate of Armijo High School, she was a student at Napa Valley College and worked as a courtesy clerk at the Lucky supermarket in Suisun.

She is survived by her father, Leland Miller of Imperial Beach; mother and stepfather, Celeste and Stewart Chenard of Fairfield; brothers, Craig Miller of LaSalle,  Colo., Todd Miller of Orlando, Fla. and Kyle Miller of Fairfield; grandparents, Arnold and Clara Monnin of Fairfield; stepsister, Aimee Chenard of Fairfield, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins in California and Colorado.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Fairfield Funeral Home with a rosary at 7 p.m.

Tom L. Beaver

A memorial Mass for Tom L. Beaver, 64, of Vacaville will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Fairfield. Inurnment will be private.

Mr. Beaver died Nov. 30, 1998, in Fairfield. He was born May 9, 1934, in Wilson, Okla.

Mr. Beaver was self-employed at the North  Texas Street Shell gas station for 25 years. He was in the Air Force for 21 years. He was a member of Moose Lodge 1967 in Vacaville.

Mr. Beaver is survived by his wife, Barbara of Vacaville; daughters, Lorraine Kyrsteck of Suisun City, Brenda Murphy of Vacaville, Cindy Cobb of Pollock Pines, and Debbie DeWhitt of Napa; stepdaughter, Kathy Lee of Fairfield; sons, Alan of San Jose and Richard of Vacaville; stepson, Ken Baxter of Fairfield; and 12 grandchildren.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Tom Beaver Memorial Trust Fund, c/o Westamerica Bank, 138 Peabody Road, Account No. 2105239103.

Arrangements are under the direction of Struble Family Funeral Services.

Rudolph Henry Dyck

Funeral services for Rudolph Henry Dyck, 73, of Winters will be at 10 a.m. Friday at First Mennonite Church in Paso Robles. Interment with military honors will follow at Willow Creek Cemetery.

Born June 19, 1925, in Paso Robles, Mr. Dyck died Nov. 30, 1998, in Winters.

A graduate of Templeton High School, he served in the Army in the South Pacific and the Philippine Islands during World War II. He also was a dairyman and a farmer in Paso Robles. Mr. Dyck was a lifelong member of the First Mennonite Church of Paso Robles. He was president of R.H. Dyck Inc., Alfalfa and Hay Grower. Mr. Dyck was the president of the Farm Bureau Association and inventor of the first Big Baler, Earth Saver Machine introduced in the state for recycling wheat and straw products. He was also a good neighbor and friend to all.

Mr. Dyck is survived by his wife of 49 years, Joan of Winters; son and daughter-in-law, Michael Earl and Maurene of Arbuckle; daughter, Jane of Winters; daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Kevin McPhillips of Winters; brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Carolanna of Paso Robles; sister and brother-in-law, Anna and Steve Hambly of Paso Robles; grandchildren, Allison and Edward McPhillips of Winters, Gwendolyn Chapman of Kirkland, Wash., Amy of Tennessee and Margaret of Dixon; great-grandchildren, Michael Grentz and Christine Dyck of Dixon, Holly Chapman of Kirkland, Wash.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 3 to 7 p.m. today at Smith's Colonial Chapel in Winters.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Foundation or the charity of the donor's choice.

Mildred C. Miller

Funeral services for Mildred C. Miller, 80, of Vacaville will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at McCune Garden Chapel.

Pastor Thomas Smith of Community Presbyterian Church will officiate. Interment will be in Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Born Nov. 26, 1918, in Micro, N.C., Mrs. Miller died Dec. 1, 1998, in Fairfield.

A resident of Vacaville and Solano County for 46 years, Mrs. Miller spent 58 years as a homemaker and mother. She was a member of the Vacaville Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and was the past state grand guardian for Job's Daughters and was a past bethel guardian of Job's Daughters. Mrs. Miller loved playing bridge.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Bruce of Vacaville; daughters, Phyllis Rundquist of Gold River, Joan of Oakland, Debra of Gold River; son, Ric of Placerville; four grandchildren; one great-grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at McCune Garden Chapel.

Memorial contributions can be made to the donor's choice.

Verd Joseph Rasmussen

Funeral services for Verd Joseph Rasmussen, 75, of Vacaville will be 2 p.m. Friday at the Travis Air Force Base Chapel Center.

Mr. Rasmussen died Nov. 30, 1998, in his home after a long illness.

Born April 19, 1923, in Portland, Ore., he lived in Colorado Springs,  Colo., for 22 years before moving to Vacaville 13 years ago.

Mr. Rasmussen enlisted in the Army Air Corps and served his country in three wars - World War II, Korean War and the Vietnam War. He received a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star during his service. He retired as a chief master sergeant in 1973 after 30 years in the Air Force.

Mr. Rasmussen then went back to school and earned a bachelor's degree in business and a master's degree in business administration from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. He continued serving his community, being very active in Boy Scouts, teaching, and at his local church, where he served as the parish council president.

Mr. Rasmussen is survived by daughters, Catherine Cherry and Janet Ralston, both of Vacaville; sons, Brig. Gen. Craig Rasmussen of Travis Air Force Base, Larry of Durango,  Colo., Mark of Golden,  Colo., and Bryan of Los Angeles; 10 grandchildren; brother, Bud; and two great-grandchildren. Mr. Rasmussen was preceded in death by his first and second wives, Evelyn Thorton Rasmussen and Francis Ashworth Rasmussen.

Josephine 'Josie' Marie Writer

There will be private funeral services and inurnment for Josephine "Josie" Marie Writer, 74, of Fairfield.

Mrs. Writer died Nov. 29, 1998, in NorthBay Medical Center after a brief illness.

Born May 30, 1924, in Detroit, Mich., Mrs. Writer moved to the area 13 years ago. Mrs. Writer was a sales associate and customer service representative for Eagle Eye Engraving, and a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fairfield.

Mrs. Writer is survived by her daughter, JoAnn Kimmel of Mission Viejo; sons, Rick of Fairfield and Joe of Los Angeles; sisters, Anne Donati of Lewiston, Mich. and Nora Witmer of Dearborn, Mich.; brother, Bernie Hyland of Venice, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; and a great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her brother, Vincent Hyland of Michigan.

Memorial contributions can be made to the NorthBay Cancer Center, 1860  Pennsylvania Ave., Suite 130, Fairfield 95633.

Arrangements are handled by the Neptune Society.

Marjorie Duncan

Remains of Marjorie Duncan, 64, of Vacaville, will be respectfully scattered at sea near the Golden Gate Bridge.

Born Feb. 17, 1934, in San Francisco, Mrs. Duncan died Dec. 1, 1998, in VacaValley Hospital.

She moved to Vacaville this year and had worked at the University of California, San Francisco, and at AM Castle.

Mrs. Duncan enjoyed traveling with her husband, particularly on cruises, dancing, and cheering on the San Francisco 49ers.

She was a member of the American Association of Retired Persons.

Mrs. Duncan is survived by her husband, Robert; sisters, Suisie Brown of Concord, Jan Stukaloff of Green Valley, Ariz., and brother, Nicholas Soriakoff of San Francisco.

A memorial contribution may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.

Arrangements are being handled by the Neptune Society of Northern California-Fairfield.

Roberta Nunn Lotz

Private funeral services will be held for Roberta Nunn Lotz, 70, of Fairfield.

There also will be a private inurnment at the Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery.

Mrs. Lotz died Dec. 1, 1998, in Vallejo after a long illness. She was born Feb. 9, 1928, in Poncha City, Okla.

She lived in Menlo Park for 40 years before moving to Fairfield six years ago.

She was a homemaker for many years and a grandmother who loved children.

Mrs. Lotz is survived by her husband, David of Fairfield; daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Thomas Walsh of Pacifica, Carolyn and Eric Jensen of Martinez and Barbara and Roger Martinez of Fairfield; sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Katherine of Redmond, Wash., and Richard and Amy of Renton, Wash.; sister, Jean Leschinky of Concord; and 10 grandchildren.

Lawrence Allen Page Sr.

Funeral services for Lawrence Allen Page Sr., 44, of Vacaville will be 10 a.m. Friday at McCune Garden Chapel.

The Rev. Keith Knauf will officiate. Burial will be at the Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Mr. Page died Dec. 1, 1998, in Vacaville following a sudden illness.

Born on Nov. 9, 1954, in Oahu, Hawaii, he was a lifelong resident of Vacaville. He was a mechanic for 20 years who most recently worked for Negri Roofing. He was a skilled jack-of-all-trades.

Mr. Page also was a loving grandfather who enjoyed watching cartoons with the kids. He was an avid Oakland Raiders football fan and enjoyed riding motorcycles.

He is survived by his son, Larry "Bub" Page of Chico; granddaughters,  Taylor and Jasmine Page of Chico; brothers, Bill, Don, and Tom Page of Vacaville, Al Fernandez of Vacaville, and Ray Fernandez of Coalinga; sisters, Norrine Scanlon of Florida, Darcus Soderberg of Chico, Sally Mitchell of Oroville, and Scarlett Haun of  Washington; 11 nephews; seven nieces, including Julie Page; and various relatives and close friends.

Mr. Page was preceded in death by his mother, Alice and brother, Glenn.

A visitation is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. today at McCune Garden Chapel.

Memorial contributions for the cost of the funeral may be made to the McCune Garden Chapel, 212 Main St., Vacaville 95688.

Laverna Jean Rodler

A Catholic Prayer Service for Laverna Jean Rodler, 69, of Fairfield will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Bryan-Braker Funeral Home Chapel, 1850 W.  Texas St., Fairfield.

The Rev. Michael Downey will officiate and there will be a private inurnment.

Mrs. Rodler died Nov. 28, 1998, in Fairfield after a long illness.

Born April 29, 1929, in Fairfield, Mrs. Rodler was a lifelong resident. Mrs. Rodler graduated from Armijo High School in 1948. She taught classes in cake decorating. She was a homemaker for 50 years and a loving mother and grandmother, and was a Little League mom. She worked in the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District cafeteria system.

Mrs. Rodler was a past member of the Ladies of the Eagles and the Ladies of the Moose. She was a member of the Armijo Alumni Association.

She also was a Kaiser Permanente volunteer, and a lifelong parish member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, where she served as an usher.

Mrs. Rodler is survived by daughters, Kathy Baracosa of Fairfield and Beverly Combs of Fairfield; sister, Barbara Ames of Fairfield; brother, Ben Mariano of Vacaville; three granddaughters; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, John.
