Bertrand Graham Butterfield

Memorial services for Bertrand Graham Butterfield, 90, of Vacaville will be 1 p.m. Sunday at 100 Rainier Circle, Vacaville.

Family members will officiate. Burial will be private in Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Mr. Butterfield died Dec. 6, 1998, in VacaValley Hospital after a short illness.

Born June 22, 1908, in Idaho, he moved to the area 36 years ago. He worked as a real estate broker for 30 years.

Mr. Butterfield served in the U.S. Navy and then in the U.S. Army where he fought in World War II. He was a 32nd degree Mason, a member of the Vacaville Moose Club and was active in Leisure Town activities.

Mr. Butterfield is survived by his daughter Maren Howland; two grandsons and a granddaughter; and four great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are by Vaca Hills Chapel.

Mary Margaret Donahue

Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Margaret Donahue, 74, of Fairfield will be 1 p.m. Friday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fairfield.

The Rev. Michael Downey will officiate. Entombment will be at Fairmont Memorial Park.

Mrs. Donahue died Dec. 7, 1998, at her home after a long illness.

Born Jan. 7, 1924, in Anacortes, Wash., she lived in Fairfield for 50 years. She worked for American Home Foods as a cannery worker, retiring after 20 years. She was a member of Young Ladies Institute (YLI) St. Alphonsus Chapter No. 125, Holy Spirit Catholic Church.

Mrs. Donahue is survived by her daughters, Mary Jean Zoner of Commerce Township, Mich., Kathleen Ann Ross of Eugene, Ore., Theresa Louise Ahrens of Suisun and Leah Lynette Holt of Fairfield; sons, Thomas Edward of Vacaville, Michael Anthony of Pinole and Charles Eugene of Suisun; 22 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Thomas in 1990.

Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday in Holy Spirit Catholic Church, with a rosary at 7 p.m.

Arrangements are by Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Linda Ann Null

Funeral services for Linda Ann Null, 44, of Benicia will be 10 a.m. Friday in Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Pastor Sam Hensley of Freewill Baptist Church will officiate. Interment will be in Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery.

Mrs. Null died Dec. 6, 1998, at her home after a long illness.

Born July 29, 1954, in Hayward, she lived in Benicia for 20 years. She graduated from high school and attended one semester at Diablo Valley College studying accounting. She was employed by many different retail stores over the last 15 years.

Mrs. Null enjoyed bowling, camping, dancing and visiting with friends. She was a loving and kind woman, always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. She loved angels, Tweety Bird and candles.

Mrs. Null is survived by her husband, James of Benicia; daughter and son-in-law, Shannon and Timothy Lee of Suisun; son, Joe of Benicia; mother and stepfather, Joan and Frank Lucido of Antioch; father, William Haughton of San Lorenzo; mother and father-in-law, Lillie and Grover Null, Sr. of Lebanon, Miss.; grandmother, Dorothy Texterra of Pleasanton; sister, Janet Edwards of Manteca; brother, Steve Lucido of Antioch; grandson, Daniel of Suisun. She is also survived by several brothers and sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews, great nephews and a great niece, and a host of friends from the Vacaville area, Missouri,  Texas and  Oklahoma.

Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Kaiser Hospice Program, 975 Sereno Dr., Vallejo.

Gabriel Rodriguez

Mass of Christian Burial for Gabriel Rodriguez, 49, of Vacaville will be 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Vacaville.

The Rev. Eugenio Lopez will officiate. Burial will be in Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Mr. Rodriguez died Dec. 5, 1998, in his residence, a victim of a homicide.

Born Oct. 1, 1949, in Mexico, he lived in the area for 14 years. He worked as a lead person in shipping and delivery for a CD-ROM company for the past year.

Mr. Rodriguez enjoyed fishing, camping and loved being with his family.

Mr. Rodriguez is survived by his wife, Maria of Vacaville; sons, Juan, Armando and Christopher of Vacaville; daughters, Elia Rubio and Gabriella, both of Vacaville, and Esmelda of Redwood City; parents, Salvador and Balbina of Mexico; brothers, Moises and Jose of Mexico; sister, Guadalupe of San Jose; grandchildren, Isabel and Jasmine Rubio, Jose and Kassandra Cuevas, all of Vacaville. He was preceded in death by a son, Jose in 1994.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today, with rosary at 7 p.m. in Vaca Hills Chapel.

John R. Rubio

Funeral services for John R. Rubio, 74, of Dixon will be 10 a.m. Friday at Milton Carpenter Funeral Home in Dixon.

Pastor Greg Brock of Calvary Chapel will preside. Interment will be in Winters Cemetery immediately following services.

Mr. Rubio died Tuesday, Dec. 8, 1998 in Davis after a lengthy illness.

Born March 20, 1924 in Marchal, Spain, he resided in the area for 33 years. He farmed for years and then worked as a supervisor with American Home Foods for 17 years.

Mr. Rubio enjoyed sports, especially baseball, and loved being around his family.

Mr. Rubio is survived by his wife of 42 years, Esperanza of Dixon; daughters, Eloise Tierney of Woodland and Lola Graham of San Antonio,  Texas, son, John of Woodland; six grandchildren; brother, Joe of Winters; sister, Marie Pitts of Winters; six nieces and nephews; and family in Spain.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Milton Carpenter Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions can be made to American Heart Association, Redwood Empire Chapter, P.O. Box 844, Santa Rosa 95402.

Patricia L. Schneider

A memorial service for Patricia L. Schneider, 59, of Yucca Valley will be at a later date.

Born Aug. 3, 1939, in Indiana, Mrs. Schneider died Nov. 22, 1998, at the High Desert Hospital in Joshua Tree after a long illness.

She lived in Vacaville from 1978 to 1982.

She was in the U.S. Army Nurses Corps and was in the U.S. Air Force Med-Evac Reserve Unit at Travis Air Force Base.

While in Vacaville, she was an officer and member of Parents Without Partners.

She later moved to Yucca Valley, where she became a licensed vocational nurse and worked in the continuing care center at High Desert Hospital. She was studying for her registered nursing degree when she became ill.

She was a treasurer of the Yucca Valley Friends of the Library.

She is survived by her husband of 16 years, Raymond of Yucca Valley; daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren, Stephenie and Ken Brentner, Rachel, Rebecca, Abigail and Timothy Tabb of Virginia; son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter, Bill, Donna and Patricia Ann Warfell of Greenfield, Ind.; stepchildren, spouses and step-grandchildren, Clayton and Connie, Chad and Caleb of Fortuna, Christy and Ron Verdugo and Dustin Lehman of Clovis, and Camila of Salinas; sister, Leona Henson of Palm Springs; brothers, Louis Like of Arizona and Loyd Like of Indiana; sisters-in-law, Patricia Trost of Walnut Creek and Carol Bourgerie of Vacaville; brother-in-law, Norman of Napa; foster mother, Mary Lou McMillen; and foster sisters, Janis Wirth and Stephanie Orr of Sun City, Ariz.

Raymond Dean Whipkey

Graveside services for Raymond Dean Whipkey, 79, of Modesto will held 1 p.m. Thursday at Lakewood Memorial Park in Hughson.

Born Jan. 3, 1919, in Mayfield, Okla., Mr. Whipkey died Dec. 7, 1998, in Modesto.

A Modesto resident for 53 years, Mr. Whipkey was a maintenance supervisor for Modesto schools. He served in the Navy.

Mr. Whipkey is survived by his wife, Jean of Modesto; son, Ray of Vacaville; daughter, Sharyn Cruse (Goldie) Weitl of Oakdale; stepson, Roger McGehee of San Anselmo; brother, Cecil of Toulumne.

Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today at Lakewood Funeral Home in Hughson.

Memorial contributions can be made to Community Hospice, 601 McHenry Ave., Suite C, Modesto 95350.

Emma C. Yank

Private family services will be held for Emma C. Yank, 95, of Vacaville.

Interment will be private in Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Mrs. Yank died Dec. 7, 1998, in Vacaville after a long illness.

Born Dec. 30, 1902, in Happy Valley, Mrs. Yank lived in Vacaville for 34 years.

Mrs. Yank is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Grace of Sonoma; daughter, Lois Morris of Vacaville; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are by McCune Garden Chapel.

Jack Andrade

Funeral services for Jack Andrade, 68, of Benicia will be at 1 p.m. today at Passalacqua Funeral Chapel in Benicia. Burial will follow in Benicia Cemetery.

Born June 6, 1930, in Newark, N.J., Mr. Andrade died Dec. 7, 1998, in Vallejo.

A Benicia resident most of his life, Mr. Andrade worked as a sergeant for the Dixon Police Department in the 1960s and 1970s, and was a deputy marshal in Vallejo for several years before becoming a deputy sheriff for Alameda County. He had a total of 27 years in law enforcement before retiring in 1984. He was a member of the Solano County Peace Officers Association, and served in the U.S. Army as a staff sergeant during the Korean War.

He is survived by his sons, Stephen of Las Vegas and Frank of Benicia, and grandchildren Nicholas and Stacey. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, in 1992.

Beverly June Stoy

At her request, there will be no public services for Beverly June Stoy, 62, of Fairfield. Inurnment will be private.

Mrs. Stoy died Dec. 9, 1998, in Kaiser Permanente Medical Center, Vallejo, after a long illness.

Born Jan. 18, 1936, in Anthony, Kan., she lived in Fairfield for 30 years. She worked for Mary's Tax Service as a tax auditor.

Mrs. Stoy is survived by her husband, Jack of Fairfield; daughters, Jackie of Fairfield, Julie Dempsey of Fairfield, and Brenda of Galt; sons, David of Suisun, J.J. of Fairfield, and Randy of Elk Grove; sisters, Louise Lyons of Hutchinson, Kan., and Lavetia Welch of Wellington, Kan.; brother, Jack Cooper of Chandler, Ariz., and 12 grandchildren.

Arrangements are by Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Albert Charles Cacioppo

A Catholic Prayer Service for Albert Charles Cacioppo, 79, of Fairfield will be 12 p.m. Saturday at Nadeau Family Funeral Home.

Clergy from Holy Spirit Catholic Church will officiate. Entombment will be in Fairmont Memorial Park.

Born Nov. 27, 1919, in Mount Pleasant, S.C., Mr. Cacioppo died Dec. 8, 1998, in Fairfield after a long battle with lung cancer.

A resident of Fairfield for the past 45 years, he was raised in Long Island, N.Y. He was a member of the Sub Vets World War II, T.R.O.A., the American Legion, A.A.R.P., and N.A.R.F.E. He belonged to the Green Valley Country Club for 20 years and was on the board of directors from 1984-88. Mr. Cacioppo also served on a Solano County grand jury in 1990 and was chosen as Kiwanean of the Year in 1971-72.

He enjoyed playing harmonica and was a member of the BunkHouse gang, a band that played at local nursing homes and senior centers. He was featured on television last year for his harmonica playing. He also appeared in many Fairfield Senioramas and the Leisure Town Follies.

Mr. Cacioppo joined the Navy in September 1940 and was promoted to warrant officer in 1956, and then to lieutenant in 1960. He served on destroyers, aircraft carriers and submarines. He retired in 1967 after 27 years of service.

He was a manager of Fairfield Bowl until 1969 and then worked as a Realtor associate until his retirement in 1985.

Mr. Cacioppo is survived by his wife of 51 years, Marge of Fairfield; daughter and son-in-law, Kathie and Victor King of Gardnerville, Nev.; daughter, Christina Schauweker of Kona, Hawaii; son and daughter-in-law, Allen and Robin Hewitt of Placerville; sisters, Angelina Newman of Islip, N.Y., Helen Scanziani of New Port Richey, Fla., Florence Minori of Brentwood, N.Y., and Rosina Fortgong of Bethpage, N.Y.; brother, Justin of Ocala, Fla., and grandchildren, Robert Cacioppo and Cody and Aaron Schauweker.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Bertha Wirth, Martha Elkins, Josie Bucalo and Mary Sparacino.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and again from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Nadeau Family Funeral Home.

Eddie Richard Qualls

A memorial service for Eddie Richard Qualls, 52, of Cordelia Village will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Rockville Presbyterian Church, 4177 Suisun Valley Road in Suisun.

Pastor Theodore Phillis from the Talents Ministries in Corona will preside. A private inurnment will follow.

Mr. Qualls died Dec. 9, 1998, at NorthBay Medical Center following a sudden illness.

Born Nov. 23, 1946, in Florence, Ala., Mr. Qualls had lived in Cordelia for 10 years.

Mr. Qualls was a graduate of Harden County High School in Savannah, Tenn. He attended Memphis State University and was a veteran of the Vietnam war, serving in the Air Force from 1968-72.

He performed substantial land surveying with his father and worked as a pressman for the  Jackson Sun Newspaper in Jackson, Tenn., for 10 years. He moved to California in 1984 and worked for the Daily Republic in Fairfield as a pressman for 14 years.

Mr. Qualls was an ordained minister with Talents Ministries, as well as vice president and a member of the board of directors.

His hobbies and interests included cars, hot rods, attending NASCAR races, reading and auctions.

He is survived by his wife, Rene Antoinette Qualls of Cordelia Village; sons, Nathan Phillip Qualls and Thomas Edward Qualls, both of Cordelia Village; sister and brother-in-law, Rebecca and Jerry Sullivan of Memphis, Tenn.; brother, Jeff Qualls of Franklin, Tenn.; father-in-law, Theodore Phillips of Corona; sister-in-law, Janet Phillips of Cordelia Village; grandmother, Thelma Qualls of Savannah; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield.
