STELLA GAIDA Peacefully, on September 2, 2004, Stella passed away after a lengthy illness, at the age of 90 years. Stella is survived by her four children; Joyce (Ed), Helen (friend Benj), Fred (Joyce), Brian (Linda); four grandchildren
and four great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph in 1987. Stella enjoyed gardening, a variety of crafts. She was a very religious person. She was an excellent wife, mother and grandmother. Stella will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Prayers will be said on Tuesday, September 7 at 6:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, September 8 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church, 341 Selkirk Avenue. Interment to follow in Holy Ghost Cemetery. ADOLPH EDWARD GRESCHUK November 15, 1931- September 2, 2004 Peacefully, on September 2, 2004, Ed entered into eternal rest at the age of 72 years with his beloved wife of 48 years by his side. Besides his wife Eva; Ed is survived by his sons, Edward (Grace), David (Susan) and by his daughters: Wanda Wenzoski (Allan), Louise Charney (Randy), Barbara Froese (Wilfried), Crystal Greschuk (Fiance Morley), Sheri Hadaller (Keith); and by his beloved grandchildren, Ryan and Jason Greschuk; Thomas and Kyle Wenzoski; Lindsay, Lauren, Graham and Nicholas Greschuk; Raymond and Jordan Charney; Alexandra and Kendra Froese. Ed is also survived by his brother Theodore Greschuk (Arlene) of St. Catherine's, ON.; sisters, Jean Jensen of Selkirk, Fran Greschuk of Winnipeg, Angela Bodnarchuk of Surrey, B.C.; nephew Terry Bodnarchuk; Glen Jensen (Joanne) and family, Glen Greschuk (April) and family; Leonard Greschuk; nieces, Marie and son Adam; Tricia and son Jamil; sister-in-law Gladys Herchak (Rod) and many cousins. Ed was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Stella and by his brothers-in-law Edward Jensen and Henry Bodnarchuk and his parents-in-law Mike and Mary Kupiak. Ed was born
on November 15, 1931 in Cromwell, MB. and raised in the Tyndall area. He worked for the Merchant Marines on the Great Lakes, construction on the Winnipeg Post Office, and at the Oil Refinery in Winnipeg before starting his own trucking company. He worked construction on numerous Manitoba Highways, working for such contractors as Royal Paving, Riverside Gravel, Mulder Construction and Buchko Enterprises to name a few. "Tarzan" of Triple E Trucking was know to be the first one at the gravel pit in the morning and the one to get the last load in the evening. Ed's grandchildren always brought a smile to his face and he never ran out of hugs and kisses for them. He was a member of the Springfield Tractor Club and the Desoto Club. Ed could be gone without a word to anyone, across the country to find a car or tractor part. Ed will be greatly missed by his family and friends. The family would like to thank the Doctors and staff of the Concordia Hospital and the Beausejour Health Centre for their kindness and compassion. If family and friends so desire, they may make a donation to the Heart & Stroke Foundation. As per Ed's request, there will be no funeral service. STEFA GUSTYS On Thursday, September 2, 2004 Stefa Gustys passed away at the Seven Oaks Hospital. Stefa was born
in Lithuania on November 15, 1921 and immigrated to Canada with her husband Frank in 1949 after enduring the hardship of four years in the forced labour camps in Germany. Initially residing in Pickle Crow, ON until the mid 50's, the family moved to Winnipeg. During this period she was employed by the O-Kum-Inn Restaurant next to the old Free Press building. The family then moved to Kenora, ON, where she worked at the prestigious Kenwood Steak House. Semi-retirement close by, she then was employed at the Lake of the Woods Hotel. Finally Frank and Stefa moved back to Winnipeg to be close to the family. She was a long time member of St. Casimars Roman Catholic Church. She was predeceased by her husband Frank; and son Danny. Stefa leaves to cherish her memory her son Wilf, wife Bev; daughter Gertie, husband John; three grandchildren, Stephanie of Halifax, NS; Carol of Winnipeg; Lisa, husband Dave of Windsor, NS; great-granddaughter Lily of Windsor, NS. Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 7 at 11:00 a.m. at Knysh Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main St. A private family interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff on the 4th floor Lyons Personal Care Home for all the kindness shown to our mother. Flowers gratefully declined. DEBORAH (DEBBIE) HAMILTON Debbie was called home to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on August 28, 2004 in Atlanta, Georgia. Debbie was born
on February 7, 1965 in Kingston, Jamaica to Mr. and Mrs. Gladstone Hamilton. She was a devoted mother of two sons, Trystin and Tevon. She will be sadly missed by her parents, Mr. G. Hamilton and sister Amy Hamilton; sister Michelle, brother Everton, both of Toronto; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her brother Hugh in July, 2001. DOUGLAS STUART HARVEY It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Dad, Poppy, Granddad and Great-Granddad on Wednesday, August 25, 2004 at Concordia Hospital. Predeceased by his beloved wife of 54 years Marjorie (nee Simpson); his parents, and 13 brothers/sisters. Dad will be lovingly remembered and very sadly missed by son Percy and wife Carol, grandchildren, Dana (Jeff) Nease, Scott (Cherie), great-grandchildren, Jaci and Jackson, all of Calgary, AB; son Graham and wife Jeanne, grandchildren, Tyler and Cory; daughter Debbie and husband Barry Evans, grandchildren, Chelsea, Reed and Brooke. Dad is survived by many relatives in the United Kingdom, too numerous to mention, also family in the United States, Kelowna, BC and Winnipeg. Dad was born
on November 1, 1916 in Kingsley, Cheshire, England. After serving with the R.A.F. and R.C.A.F. in the Second World War, he settled in Winnipeg. Dad worked for the C.N.R. for 35 years, retiring in 1981. Dad was a loving husband, father and grandfather, always putting his family first. He was a good provider and hard worker. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at St. Saviors Church, Munroe Avenue and Grey Street on Friday, September 10 at 12:30 p.m. with Rev. Richard Condo officiating. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Dr. A. Kong for taking such good care of Dad over the years and never giving up on him. FANNIE DORA JAMES December 4, 1905 - August 29, 2004 In the evening hours of Sunday, August 29, 2004, Fannie Dora James, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away at the Middlechurch Home in West St. Paul at the age of 98 years. She will be sadly missed by her children, Angela (Michael) Chatyrbok, Michael (Margo) James and Gloria (Edward) Mariash; grandchildren, Mark, Keith and Lena (George Gabrielle) Mariash; Kathleen (Chris) Lalonde, David (Sheila), Darryl (Angie), Jeffery (Jennifer) Chatyrbok; Nicole (Marc) Normandeau, Laurel James (Angelito Camaclang) and Darren James; Michelle (Roman) Gawronsky, Connie (Gary) Feenstra, Jodie (Greg) Bodnarchuk, Jeanette St. Godard (Dale Cummings), Joanne St. Godard (Jean Francois Thibault), Jay (Stacy Bell), Judd (Sarah Miller) St. Godard, James (Patricia), Dale, and Kenneth St. Godard; and 17 great-grandchildren. Fannie was predeceased by her husband Rev. George Michael James (1951); and her daughter Kathleen Laura St. Godard (1998). Fannie was born
in Birmingham, England, on December 4, 1905, to Samuel and Florence Riley. She trained as an accountant and worked for a number of years in Birmingham. Fannie sailed to Canada in 1937 where she joined her future husband and was married in Rugby Chapel, Emmanuel College, Saskatoon, on July 1. Her 14 years with "Jimmie" were devoted to her children and church work in such places as Sunset Prairie and Pouce Coupe in British Columbia, Strasbourg, Balcarres and Melville in Saskatchewan and Devon Mission, The Pas in Manitoba. After Jimmie's death in 1951, Fannie worked in The Pas and Swan River as a bookkeeper and secretary until her retirement in Lockport and Winnipeg. She volunteered much of her time to youth groups, Sunday School, Brownies and Guides and the blind. She served as Diocese of Brandon bales secretary for 14 years. She was a life member of the Anglican Women's Auxiliary. She sang in choirs and played the organ in a number of churches. Fannie spent many hours oil painting, writing her book ("Greater Love," published in 1996) and compiling family albums and history for her children. She devoted countless hours to her grandchildren, taking them to plays, the symphony and ballet as well as on holidays to the beach and parts of Canada. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff of Middlechurch Home for the care and support over the past six years. Your kind deeds, words and gestures were very much appreciated and will not be forgotten. A memorial service in celebration of her life will be held at St. Paul's Anglican Church, Middlechurch, 299 Balderstone Rd., West St. Paul, on Thursday, September 9 at 7:00 p.m. with The Rev. Fraser Hunter officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. A reception will follow. DOROTHY JANET KREUTZ It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Dorothy Janet Kreutz (Jinny) wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother on Friday, September 3, 2004. She will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by husband Harry of 59 plus years; and children, Colin (Irene) of Toronto, Lynne (Terry) of Allen, TX, Barry (April) of Landmark, MB and Kevin (Judi) Charleswood, Winnipeg; plus eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Jinny was born
in Brighton England and met Harry in 1943 and they were married in Brighton England July 20, 1945. Jinny was the first female warden in the parish of St. Thomas Abeckett in Pierrefonds, QC in 1968. Jinny was very active in the McKinnon Guild and served in various capacities. Her favourite was Manager of the Nearly New Shop. In between she always found time to play a few games of bridge with her friends. Our family would like to thank the staff of the Cancer Centre at the St. Boniface Hospital and Riverview Care Centre for the love and tender care they gave Jinny. BRYCE WILLIAM RANKIN LAWRENCE Peacefully, surrounded by family on August 28, 2004, Bryce passed away at Grace General Hospital at the age of 86 years. Bryce was predeceased in 2002 by Alice, his wife of 62 years. He lovingly supplemented her care for her last seven years. He is survived by his daughter Carol (Gerald) Lawrence of Calgary; son David, with daughter Colleen, of Edmonton; sister Vera (George) Grandy of Brantford, ON; as well as close friends Linda and Merrill Groff of Winnipeg. He will also be missed by extended family and friends. Bryce retired from TD Bank after many years of service. He was an honorary life member of the Winnipeg Game and Fish Association and served as a Board member for over 40 years. He volunteered with the Golden West Centennial Lodge Auxiliary and brought a fresh lightness to the Lodge. He recently became a member of Lions Club (St. James). Bryce was far younger in mind and spirit than his age. He loved people and his engaging nature and jovial humour quickly turned strangers into friends. He was always a social leader in playing cards and games. He had a creative mind for fixing mechanical things, using the right tools and the right amount of duct tape. He had a green thumb, enjoying gardening and more recently, indoor plants. Although he knew every road in the city, he got greater pleasure taking family, visitors and friends on country drives. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 7 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Interment will follow. ANDREW ROBERT MALO January 2, 1999 - September 1, 2004 Peacefully on Wednesday, September 1, Andrew Robert Malo (age 5) went to play with the angels. Andrew leaves to mourn his parents (Rob and Tracy); brother Jeremy; sisters, Chelsea and Dorian; and special godparents Patti and Dieter Bonas. Andrew also leaves to mourn his grandparents Omer and Germaine Malo, and Ed and Lillian Taylor. Andrew was also blessed with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He touched a great many people in his short life with his feisty spirit. Andrew was instantly popular wherever he went. His expressive eyes, his giggles and his adventurous personality drew people to him. Andrew will be missed very much by many people who knew him, and cared for him with love and compassion. KLARA MARTINENKO (nee FAST) On Thursday, August 26, 2004 Klara at the age of 87 years, passed away after a lengthy illness with her beloved husband and family by her side, at Holy Family Nursing Home. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband George, sharing 67 years together; sons, Victor (Benita), Tony and Walter (Sharon); grandchildren, Shane (Linda) and Tanya; great-grandson Anthony; and brother Alex (Shirley); and sister Irna in Kazakstan. Klara was born
in Barwenkowo, Ukraine on September 16, 1916. Klara was predeceased by her parents, Peter and Margarita Fast; brothers, Peter and Herman; sisters, Greta, Lydia and Katya. Klara studied to be a Veterinarian in Prischib-Halbstadt and trained for the 1936 Olympics. Klara and George were married on July 23, 1937 and they had twin girls, who passed away 10 days after birth. During the war years, the family was relocated to a refugee camp in Germany and from there, immigrated to Canada. Her greatest joy involved her family. She was a great supporter and always encouraging, loving and proud of everything they did. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Holy Family Nursing Home for their kindness and compassion they gave to Klara and support for her husband and family during this difficult time.
