Yolanda Davidoff Spino

Mass of Christian Burial for Yolanda Davidoff Spino was held at 10:30 a.m. June 21, 2004, at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Fr. Henry Grodecki, C.M. was the celebrant. Musicians were DiAnn Bourget and Jeanne Kostelic. Musical selections were “All Creatures Of Our God And King,” “Ave Maria,” “Panis Angelicus” and “You Are Mine.”
Pallbearers were Ken Baker, Frank Marminello, Rick Davidoff, Ralph Coscarella, William Mehos, Jeff Taylor and Frank Cicerelli.
Honorary pallbearers were Vic Veltri, Bill Archuletta, John Bayuk and George Argys. Interment followed at Fairview Cemetery.
Arrangements were with Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home.

Zita Ruhkamp Burnett

Zita Ruhkamp Burnett died June 16, 2004 at the home of her daughter, Marilyn Skolich, in Redondo Beach, Calif., following a battle with congestive heart failure,
She was a long-time resident of Salida, Anchorage, Alaska and Redondo Beach, Calif. She was 93 years old.
Mrs. Burnett was born in Hanover, Kan. on July 15, 1911 to Joseph and Marie Ruhkamp. The family moved to Salida for her mother’s health.
On March 30, 1937 she married Louis John Costello of Salida. Louis passed away on June 30, 1945 of a perforated stomach ulcer, leaving her with a 5-year-old daughter and a newborn baby girl.
On Sept. 12, 1956, Zita married Earl I. Burnett, a D&RGW machinist and long-time resident of Salida.
Earl died on April 23, 1973 of cancer.
Mrs. Burnett was active in St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was president of the Altar and Rosary Society and made vestments for the priests, as well as altar clothes for the church on many occasions.
Zita also volunteered at St. Joseph School, helping the students with reading and serving lunch.
Mrs. Burnett was such an accomplished seamstress and needleworker that she was known as “the lady with the golden hands.”
When her youngest daughter, LouAnne, was in high school, she began her own dressmaking and alterations business.
Because of failing vision caused by a detached retina and macular degeneration, Mrs. Burnett moved to California in 1985 to live with her daughters.
Between 1985 and 1997, Zita traveled to and briefly lived in Bakersfield and Thousand Oaks, Calif.; Greenville, S.C. and Anchorage, Alaska, where she lived with her youngest daughter, Lou Anne Curley.
In 1997, Zita moved back to Redondo Beach, to live with her eldest daughter, Marilyn Skolich, until her death.
Zita was preceded in death by her sister, Cecilia Nylander of Denver and her brother, Alphonse Ruhkamp of Salida.
She is survived by her daughters, Marilyn Skolich of Redondo Beach and LouAnne Curley of Anchorage and five grandchildren, Lisa and John Skolich of Redondo Beach, Cristin (Curley) Cota, Patrick and Colleen Curley, all of Anchorage.
A rosary was held at 7 p.m. Sunday, at McCormick Mortuary, Redondo Beach.
There will be a celebration of her life at St. Lawrence Martyr Church in Redondo Beach at 10 a.m. today.
Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery and will be accompanied by a luncheon at St. Joseph Great Hall.

Zita R. Burnett

Mass of the Christian Burial for Zita R. Burnett was held at 10:30 a.m. June 24, 2004, at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Fr. Henry Grodecki, C.M. was the celebrant.
Musicians were DiAnn Bourget and Colleen Curley. Musical selections were “Prayer Of St. Francis,” “Amazing Grace,” “They Will Know We Are Christians,” “How Great Thou Art,” “Shepherd Me O’ Lord,” “You Are Mine,” “On Eagles’ Wings” and “Blessed Be The Lord.”
Pallbearers were Mike Curley, Pat Curley, Joe Nylander, Jeff Nylander and John Skolich.
Interment was at Fairview Cemetery.
Arrangements were with Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home.

Chris Berry

Chris Berry died June 21, 2004, at his home in Casper, Wyo.
He was born March 22, 1964, in Salida. He attended school one year in Leadville and 11 years in Commerce City, graduating from Adams City High school in 1982.
He married Kelly Ann Hoffman June 11, 1983, in Northglenn. They subsequently were divorced.
His life was centered on the love of his daughter, Jennifer, and he lived for her happiness. He was a charitable man, and an avid hunter and fisherman, who loved the outdoors.
Mr. Berry is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Berry, and his ex-wife, Kelly, of Denver, his mother S. Ann Berry and sister Cecilia Buongiovanni, Idaho; brother Gerald Berry Jr., Boulder; brother Mark Berry, Evergreen; father, Gerald Berry, Salida and numerous aunts, uncles, nephews, and nieces.
A Requiem Mass will be held at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 2566 Sable Blvd., Aurora at 9 a.m. Tuesday.
Interment and graveside services will be at 1 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery, Salida.

Nadine V. Hall

Nadine V. Hall, a long-time Salida resident, died July 2, 2004, in Denver, after a long illness.
Mrs. Hall was born Dec. 12, 1919, in Cainsville, Mo.
She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Order of Eastern Star, Topaz Chapter No. 27 and Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Hall and her son, Gary.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Doug and Jeanie, Salida; two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
At her request, no services will be held.

Anna (Annie) Liddy Baldino

Anna (Annie) Liddy Baldino,93, died July 6, 2004, at Columbine Manor Nursing Home in Salida.
Mrs. Baldino was born Jan. 30, 1911, in Salida, to Sam and Jennie (Murisco) Reno. Mrs. Baldino moved to Crested Butte, with her parents where she attended school and graduated from Crested Butte High School.
She returned to Salida with her parents after graduation. She worked as a cook and waitress in many of the local area restaurants for many years.
She loved to cook, sing and loved her family and church.
Mrs. Baldino was proceeded in death by her parents; husband, Mike Baldino Sr.; brothers Frank, Carl and Joe Reno.
Mrs. Baldino is survived by her sons Mike (Charlotte) Baldino and Pete (Shirley) Baldino, all of Salida; brother, Albert Reno of Littleton; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Viewing is set for 9 a.m. to noon and 1-4 p.m. today, at Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home.
Mass of the Christian Burial is set for 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
Friends who desire may make memorial contributions to St. Joseph Catholic Church or Columbine Manor Nursing Home through Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home.

Anna Liddy Baldino

Mass of the Christian Burial for Anna Liddy Baldino was held at 10 a.m. July 9, 2004, at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Fr. Henry Grodecki CM officiated. Soloist was Jennifer Hammond and organist was DiAnn Bourget.
Musical selections were “Amazing Grace,” “Ave Maria,” “Prayer of St. Francis” and “Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee.”
Pallbearers were Tom Reno, Robert Reno, Chuck Carothers, Gene Martellaro, Carl Reno and Rick Baldino.
Interment was in Fairview Cemetery. Arrangements were with Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home.

David Allen Curtis

David Allen Curtis, 20, Colorado Springs, died July 5, 2004, at Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center.
He was fatally injured in a one-vehicle motorcycle accident.
He was born Dec. 11, 1983, in Liberal, Kan. to Verl and Debra Curtis.
David moved to Salida with his family in 1989 and was a 2002 graduate of Salida High School. Upon graduation he attended Universal Technical Institute in Phoenix, Ariz., and received his degree with honors in July 2003.
David was happiest and always excelled when he worked with his hands, and his new degree gave him the qualifications necessary to work with all types of mechanical equipment.
He most recently lived in Colorado Springs and was employed with Trane Co., where he used his skills in the mechanical trades as part of a heating, ventilation and air conditioning troubleshooting team.
David loved his family, and although he lived in Colorado Springs, would frequently visit Salida, his true home.
He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed four-wheeling in his Jeep, snowmobiling, snowboarding, skiing, hunting, fishing, and about any other activity he could experience in God’s creation.
“Big Dave” will be remembered for his wide grins, gentle spirit, time spent with friends and being “big brother” to many.
He is survived by his parents, Verl and Debra Curtis; three sisters, Amy (Dr. Chris) Thorgesen; Darcy Curtis, and Beth Curtis, all of Salida; and grandparents, Luther and Betty Boutz of Englewood, Kan. Numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive.
His grandparents, Arel and Hattie Curtis of Liberal, Kan. preceded him in death.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church of Salida.
The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Salida.
Memorial donations can be made to the David A. Curtis Memorial Fund at Community First National Bank in care of Runyan Mortuary, P.O. Box 1668, Buena Vista, CO 81211.
