RAE, Veda

May 29, 1942 - Aug. 5, 2003

Veda Rae of Longmont died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2003. She was 61.

Ms. Rae was born May 29, 1942, in South Bend, Ind., to Vernon and Velma Radebaugh.

She graduated from Edwardsburg High School in Edwardsburg, Mich., in 1960. She had resided in the Longmont/Loveland area since 1967.

Ms. Rae received her bachelors degree in electrical engineering from Colorado State University in 1978 and her masters degree in 1982.

She was an electrical engineer and a research and development manager with Storage Technology for 20 years.

Ms. Rae loved horseback riding, traveling, hiking, cooking, kayaking, sewing, gardening and quilting.

She is survived by two sons, Aaron D. Frison of Loveland and John B. Smith of Fort Collins; and three grandchildren, John R. Smith of Valencia, Calif., Jared T. Smith of Fort Collins and Clark E. Frison of Loveland.

A celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m. today, Saturday, Aug. 9, at her residence, 1128 Princeton Drive, Longmont, with the Rev. Rob White officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Women and Minorities in Engineering program at Colorado State University in care of Allnutt Funeral Service, 650 W. Drake Road, Fort Collins 80526.

Tompkins, Evelyn Faye

Oct. 7, 1924 - Aug. 9, 2003

Tompkins, Evelyn Faye of Longmont died Saturday, Aug. 9, 2003, at Longmont United Hospital. She was 78.

Mrs. Tompkins was born Oct. 7, 1924, to Homer and Eva Lee (Herget) Fite in Longmont.

She graduated from Longmont High School in 1942.

She married Dudley Tompkins on May 10, 1945, in Shreveport, La.

Mrs. Tompkins returned to Longmont in 1951.

She was a homemaker and a member of The Church at Longmont.

Mrs. Tompkins was an outstanding artist in oils and pastel chalks.

She enjoyed refinishing pianos. She was a self-taught pianist and vocalist.

Mrs. Tompkins was preceded in death by a sister, Levohn Matt.

She is survived by her husband of Longmont; and two sisters, Donna Thoren of Longmont and Margaret Bice and her husband Dick of Albuquerque, N.M.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel with family present to greet friends.

Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Tim J. Biemilles of The Church at Longmont officiating.

Interment will be at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to The Church at Longmont in care of Ahlberg Funeral Chapel.

WILSON, Nolan D.

Oct. 10, 1942 - July 29, 2003

Nolan D. Wilson of Longmont died Tuesday, July 29, 2003, at his home. He was 60.

Mr. Wilson was born Oct. 10, 1942, to Raymond Wilson and Alice Woodworth in Jamestown, N.Y.

Mr. Wilson came to Longmont in 1988. He was a carpet installer and a longtime member of Moose Lodge No. 1548.

Before arriving in Longmont, Mr. Wilson mined gold in the Yukon. He lived in a log cabin on Storm Mountain that he and his three children built.

He was an outdoorsman, who loved gardening, horseback riding, fishing and hunting.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Troy D. Wilson.

Mr. Wilson is survived by two sons, Rory R. Wilson and Cory E. Ciaranello of Longmont; and a daughter, Katelen June Wilson; two brothers, Neil Wilson and his wife Holly Moore, and Greg Wilson; a sister, Lori Gunderson and her husband Dennis; two stepdaughters, Danielle Haro of Longmont and Katie Pflug of Omaha, Neb.; and two grandchildren.

A celebration of his life will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 31, by the Women of the Moose at the Longmont Moose Lodge No. 1548, 2210 Pratt St.

WINKLER, Larry

Jan. 3, 1941 - Aug. 7, 2003

Larry Allen Winkler of Longmont died Thursday, Aug. 7, 2003, at the Peaks Care Center. He was 62.

Mr. Winkler was born Jan. 3, 1941, in Creston, Iowa, to Edward and Irene (Whitehead) Winkler.

He married Nancy Trexler in 1970.

Mr. Winkler worked as a United Methodist minister for 25 years in the Iowa Conference and Troy Conference in New York and Vermont. He and his wife also owned and operated Chem-Dry carpet cleaning franchises in Iowa and Vermont and operated a personal coaching service, Different Results, in North Carolina and Colorado. They were managers of the Longmont Regent after moving to Colorado in 2000.

Mr. Winkler loved life and lived it to the fullest. He dedicated his energies to helping others and spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of Longmont; two daughters, Kristen and her husband Christopher of Longmont, and Elizabeth of Potsdam, N.Y.

A memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15, at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. Cremation has been held at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory. Inurnment will be on a family site in Iowa at a later time.

ZECHMAN, Robert E.

Aug. 23, 1937 - Aug. 1, 2003

Robert E. Zechman of Cotopaxi, Colo., died Friday, Aug. 1, 2003, at Park View Medical Center in Pueblo. He was 65.

Mr. Zechman was born Aug. 23, 1937, in Baltimore.

He married his wife, Barbara Ann, on Jan. 3, 1959.

Mr. Zechman served as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Air Force for four years and graduated from the University of Colorado with a bachelor of science degree in engineering physics.

Mr. Zechman was a geophysicist with Marathon Oil Company for four years and a senior programmer for IBM for 26 years. He retired in 1992.

He enjoyed photography, military history, classical and bluegrass music, fishing, hunting, family camping, boating, traveling and reading.

Mr. Zechman is survived by his wife; a daughter, Kassia Lathrop and her husband Jason of Longmont; a granddaughter, Hailey of Longmont; a son, Jeffrey Zechman and his wife Katrina of Conifer, Colo.; his cousins, Phyllis and Billy Grimes of Madison, Ala., and Dick and Helen Hood of York, Pa.

Cremation took place at Montgomery and Steward Crematorium on Monday, Aug. 4.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22, at Mountain View United Methodist Church, 355 Ponca Place, Boulder. A reception will follow.

BLANKENSHIP, Shirley L.

Jan. 12, 1933 - Sept. 23, 2003

Shirley L. Blankenship of Northglenn died Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2003, at Swedish Hospital in Englewood. She was 70.

Mrs. Blankenship was born Jan. 12, 1933, in Denver to George and Marguette (Harris) Giacomozzi. She was raised in the Denver area.

On June 8, 1958, she married Hal Blankenship in Denver.

She was a homemaker and a secretary for Mac Trucks of Denver before retiring in 1986.

Mrs. Blankenship enjoyed trips and outings to Blackhawk.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a son, Gary L. Blankenship in 2000.

Mrs. Blankenship is survived by her husband of Northglenn; a son, Guy Blankenship of Northglenn; a daughter, Glenda Klinkerman and her husband Dennis of Westminster; two brothers, Edwin Giacomozzi and his wife Iris of Tennessee and Bob Giacomozzi and his wife Rochelle of Denver; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 29, at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel with Cris Crisfield of Rocky Mountain Christian Church officiating.

Interment will be in Longmont Mountain View Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Autistic Society in care of Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, 326 Terry St., Longmont 80501.

BUCKLEY, Richard Allen 'Bubba'

Sept. 28, 1951 - Sept. 27, 2003

Richard Allen 'Bubba' Buckley of Lyons died Saturday, Sept. 27, 2003, at his home, the result of an all-terrain vehicle accident. He was 51.

Mr. Buckley was born Sept. 28, 1951, in New York City to Mr. and Mrs. Elizabeth (Gohmann) Buckley.

He was a delivery and over-the-road truck driver his entire life. He was the owner of the Dacono and Loveland U Pump It locations for the past few years.

Mr. Buckley moved to Lakewood in 1992 and to Lyons in 1999.

He was of the Christian faith and was a member of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the National Rifle Association.

Mr. Buckley will be remembered as a devoted father who enjoyed his animals, the mountains, old cars, his truck, camping and traveling in an RV. He was a good fixer-upper and handyman.

Mr. Buckley was preceded in death by his mother; and a sister, Patti Buckley.

He is survived by his fiancee, Judy Self of Lyons; a son, Robert Buckley of Lyons; a nephew, Shawn Williams; and friends Julie, Charles, Barb, Tammy, Brenda and Dusty, and Andy and LJ Widholm.

Cremation is being handled by Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory.

No visitation is scheduled.

Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel.

CARPENTER, Emma L.

Oct. 25, 1914 - Sept. 25, 2003

Emma L. (Cejka) Carpenter died in a nursing home Thursday, Sept. 25, 2003. She was 88.

Mrs. Carpenter was born to William and Agnes (Pospishil) Cejka in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

She married Orlo Bud Carpenter on March 25, 1934, in Manchester, Iowa. She was a homemaker and had been a seamstress in a factory in Iowa.

She volunteered at Oliver Presbyterian Church in Cedar Rapids for 10 years, crocheting, sewing and making afghans. She loved watching Chuck Norris in Walker, Texas Ranger, Animal Planet, Maury Povich and Jerry Springer on television.

Mrs. Carpenter was preceded in death by her husband and three brothers, William, Jerry and Charles Cejka.

She is survived by a son, Edward Carpenter and his wife Hettibel of Loveland; a daughter, Patricia Davis and her husband Richard of Berthoud; four grandchildren, Scott Roach and his wife Lori LaFore of Longmont, Shane Trammel of Reno, Nev., Kathy Carpenter of Loveland, Albert Carpenter of Loveland and Ed Carpenter Jr. and his wife Linda of Fort Collins; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 30, at Mountain Range Baptist Church at 3601 Shields St., Fort Collins. She will be buried at Cedar Memorial Cemetery in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, with the Rev. John Loyd officiating.

CARRASCO, Ramon G.

Dec. 12, 1931 - Sept. 28, 2003

Ramon G. Carrasco of Milliken died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2003, at the Northern Colorado Medical Center Hospice Unit. He was 71.

Mr. Carrasco was born Dec. 12, 1931, in Carlsbad, N.M., to Manuel and SinForosa (Gonzales) Carrasco.

In 1953, he married Antonia Valdez in Mexico.

Mr. Carrasco moved with his family to Milliken in the early 1970s. He worked as a farmer in the Berthoud and Platteville areas.

He enjoyed doing mechanical work and liked dancing and music.

Mr. Carrasco was preceded in death by a son, Jesus Ramon Carrasco; and two brothers.

He is survived by his wife of Milliken; two daughters, CruzAna Calvillo of Loveland and Alma Lorena Tovar of Milliken; a son, Alfred Carrasco of Fort Collins; a sister, Cruz Marquez of Presidio, Texas; 18 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from noon to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1, at Stoddard Funeral Home in Greeley.

Recitation of the rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1, at the funeral home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon Thursday, Oct. 2, at St. John Catholic Church, 809 Charlotte St., Johnstown.

Interment will be in Loveland Burial Park.
