John "Jack" Henry Webster, age 53, of Howe Avenue, Shelton, died on Friday, July 20, 2001, at his home. He was employed as a brick layer for the BAC Union. Mr. Webster was an Army veteran serving during the Vietnam War. Mr. Webster was a graduate of Sacred Heart University and was a member of the VFW 1236 in Shelton. He is survived by his mother, Mary Elizabeth Kelley Webster of Milford; a sister, Jean Webster of Milford; five nieces; one nephew; 10 grandnieces and grandnephews; and three great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews. He was predeceased by his father, George Henry Webster; and sister, Loretta Freed. Calling hours on Wednesday, July 25, 2001, at the Smith Funeral Home, 135 Broad Street, Milford, from 5 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 26, 2001, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Kings Highway Cemetery, Milford. Donations may be made to the VFW, 58 Bridge Street, Shelton, CT 06484.

LUCARELLE
Dorothy Kotrady Lucarelle, age 70, of Stratford, died Sunday, July 22, 2001, at Bridgeport Hospital. Born in Bridgeport, she had resided in Stratford for 46 years. Mrs. Lucarelle was retired from Avco-Lycoming. She will be remembered as a great mother who loved celebrating the Russian holidays with her family. She is survived by her beloved children: two sons, Mark R. Lucarelle and his wife, Pam, of Woodbury, and Paul S. Lucarelle and his wife, Nancy, of Waterbury; two daughters, Laura C. Warcholic of Milford, and Lisa C. Lucarelle of Stratford; one brother, Edward Kotrady of Fairfield; three sisters, Ethel Jankura of Stratford, Florence Willette of Stratford, and Olga Middleton of North Redding, Mass.; 10 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one son, Jeffrey Lucarelle; and two brothers, John Kotrady and Joseph Kotrady. Friends are invited to attend the funeral on Thursday, July 26, 2001, at 9:15 a.m. in the Pistey Funeral Home, 2155 Main Street, Stratford, and at 10 a.m. in Holy Ghost Russian Orthodox Church, Bridgeport, with the Rev. Vadim Pismienny officiating. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Shelton. Friends may call on Wednesday, July 25, 2001, from 4 to 8 p.m. Panikhida will be at 7 p.m.

Grace L. Hull, age 94, of Fairfield, wife of the late Frederick Hull, died on Sunday, July 22, 2001, at Southport Manor, Southport. Born in Bridgeport, Mrs. Hull had been a lifelong Fairfield resident. She was predeceased by a grandson, George Hull. Survivors include her children, Frederick Hull Jr. and his wife, Carole, of Fairfield, and Nancy Nielsen and her husband, Donald, of Edenton, N.C.; a sister, Dorothy Reich of Fairfield; eight grandchildren, Cynthia Hull, Robert Hull, Cristi Hull, Ryan Hull, Shana Hull, Michael Sabia, Mark Sabia and Marjory Kabureck; nine great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 25, 2001, at 1 p.m. in the Spear Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield. Interment will follow in Lawncroft Cemetery, Fairfield. Friends may call on Tuesday (TODAY), from 5 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home.

BRIDGEPORT, CT
DEMKO
Stephen L. Demko, age 90, of Fairfield, died Monday, July 23, 2001, at 3030 Park Avenue, Fairfield. Mr. Demko was born in Troop, Pa., and was a Bridgeport resident for more than 60 years. He was a retired inspector of Sikorsky Aircraft. He was the widower of Margaret Neeley Demko. Survivors include one son, Lawrence Demko of Groton; one daughter, Margaret Jennings of Milford; one brother, Edward Demko of Telsford, Pa.; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Demko of Shelton; two grandchildren, Jason and his wife, Lisa Jennings, and Michele and her husband, Dave Deschino; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to attend the funeral on Thursday, July 26, 2001, at 11 a.m. from the Cyril F. Mullins Funeral Home, 1640 Boston Avenue, corner of Ridgefield Avenue, Bridgeport, and at 11:30 a.m. in St. Ambrose Church. Interment in Lakeview Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Parking lot entrance on Ridgefield Avenue.

OLIVA
Ruth Gonda Oliva, age 67, of Bridgeport, a retired mutuals clerk for Bridgeport and Milford Jai Alai, died on Monday, July 23, 2001, at Bridgeport Hospital. A lifelong city resident, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Anna Zakutansky Gonda. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, and is survived by two sons, Frank Joseph Oliva of Fairfield, and Peter John Oliva and his wife, Mary, of Monroe; three daughters, Jo Anne Maldonado and her husband, Jose, of Deerfield Beach, Fla., Cynthia Oliva-Gordon and her husband, David, of Seymour, and Connie Oliva-Samuels and her husband, Christopher, of Bridgeport; a brother, Joseph Gonda and his wife, Dolores, of Stratford; seven grandchildren, Joseph, David, Stephanie, Dominique, Christopher, Erin and Charlotte; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, July 26, 2001, from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, at a time to be announced. Interment will follow in St. Michael`s Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call on Wednesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.

TYLER
Catherine J. Tyler, age 74, of Palm Coast, Fla., died Thursday, July 19, 2001, at home. Mrs. Tyler was born in Bridgeport and moved to Florida in 1992, from Monroe. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, the New England Club and RSVP. Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Robert M.; one son, Michael of Atlanta, Ga.; three daughters, Barbara Tyler of Los Angeles, Elizabeth Tyler of Brookline, Mass., and Cathleen Domschine of Milford; and a sister, Doris Miklos of Shelton. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 25, 2001, at 6 p.m. at St. Jude`s Church, Monroe Turnpike, Monroe. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Hospice of Volusia/Flagler County, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32119, or the American Lung Association, P.O. Box 549, Daytona Beach, FL 32115.

CROSBY
Walter Thomas Crosby, age 91, of 9 Fifth Avenue, Waterford, formerly of North Port, Fla., died Sunday, July 22, 2001, at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital, New London, after being stricken at home. He was born in North Brookfield, Mass., on February 13, 1910, the son of James Edwin and Elizabeth Passco Crosby. He married Dorothy Eckart on September 22, 1934. She predeceased him on April 4, 2001. Mr. Crosby had worked for many years in the maintenance department at Handy & Harmon Mfg. in Fairfield, before retiring in 1973. His hobby for the past 28 years had been to create art pieces with stained glass such as sun catchers and small pictures. He is survived by three daughters, Sandra E. Perrelli, with whom he made his home in Waterford, Judith E. Wickson of New Fairfield, and Debra L. Crosby of Stratford; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by one son, Guy T. Crosby; and one daughter, Karen Butterworth. Funeral and burial will be private. Contributions may be made in his memory to the Connecticut Blind Fund, 100 Grand Street, New Britain, CT 06052. The Mystic Funeral Home, Route 1, Mystic, CT, is in charge of arrangements.

STRABORNY
Louis James Straborny Sr. of Fairfield, a retired superintendent of maintenance for the Fairfield Board of Education, died suddenly on Monday, July 23, 2001. Born in Fairfield, Mr. Straborny had been a lifelong town resident. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was a member of the American Legion Stratfield Post 143. He was a longtime active member of the Calvin United Church of Christ where he served as a chief elder of the church. Survivors include his beloved wife, Eileen D`Aiuto Straborny of Fairfield; two sons: Louis J. Straborny Jr. of the Sandy Hook section of Newtown, and Paul D. Straborny of Fairfield; three daughters: Gloria J. Winter and her husband, Paul, of Califon, N.J., Julie Marie Natoli and her husband, John, of Milford, and Diane Manderville and her husband, Bill, of Fairfield; six grandchildren: Kevin, Daniel and Colin Winter, Tess and Emma Manderville, and Mark Natoli; a brother, Stephen Straborny of Florida; a sister, Olga Kowalski of New Mexico; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 26, 2001, at 10 a.m. in the Calvin United Church of Christ, 901 Kings Highway, Fairfield. Interment will be announced. Friends may call on Wednesday, July 25, 2001, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Spear Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield. A prayer service will be held on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the funeral home. BECQUE
Motier Becque, age 76, of Christian Circle, Orange, beloved husband of Nancy Spang Becque, died Monday, July 23, 2001, at Connecticut Hospice, Branford. Son of the late John Harvey and Frances Blue Becque, he was born on November 17, 1924, in Honolulu, Hawaii, and was a resident of Orange for 46 years and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, where he attained the rank of first lieutenant. Mr. Becque was an attorney with a law practice in Orange. Previously, he was a partner in the law firm of Harlow & Becque, Milford. He earned his bachelor of science degree in industrial engineering from John Hopkins University, Baltimore, and his juris doctorate from the University of Connecticut. Mr. Becque was a past member of the Connecticut and Milford Bar Associations and was past director of the Milford Savings Bank. He was very active in the Orange Community, serving as town moderator and was on its Library Board, Board of Education, Conservation Commission, and the Board of Ethics, to name a few. Mr. Becque was a member and past president of the Orange Rotary Club and a Merit Badge counselor and an advisor to the Orange Troop of the Boy Scouts of America. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, M. Daniel Becque and his wife, Frances, of Carbondale, Ill.; three daughters, Cynthia B. Flynn and her husband, Brian, of Orange, Deborah B. Wallmeyer of Eden, N.Y., and Caroline B. Martello and her husband, Matthew, of Parkton, Md.; and 11 grandchildren. Mr. Becque was predeceased by two brothers, John Harvey Becque and William Becque. A funeral Mass will take place on Friday, July 27, 2001, at 10 a.m. in Holy Infant Church, 450 Race Brook Road, Orange. Committal will be private. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Orange Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 1072, Orange, CT 06477. Arrangements are in care of the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad Street on the Green, Milford.

OXFORD, CT
NESTERUK
Frank Zenovio Nesteruk, age 70, of Oxford, entered into the Lord`s rest on Saturday, July 14, 2001, after a long illness. Born May 7, 1931, he was the son of the late Harry and Marie Nesteruk. Mr. Nesteruk was a lifelong resident of Ansonia before moving to Oxford for the last year of his life. He was a decorated veteran of the Korean War, holding the rank of sergeant. Mr. Nesteruk was a 25 year employee of the E H Kneen Co. of Ansonia, from which he retired in 1994. He was a graduate of Ansonia High School, a member of the Northenders, the Ct. Dahlia Society, and numerous Senior Citizens Centers. He had a profound love for gardening and square dancing, but most of all for the five children he as a single parent raised. He leaves two daughters, Debra Senetcky of Winsted and Pamela Santon of Elmira, N.Y.; three sons, Warren Nesteruk of Wilton, Duane Nesteruk of Derby and Darren Nesteruk of Oxford; and eight grandchildren. Besides his children, Mr. Nesteruk leaves his love and longtime companion, Winnie Brzezinski of Shelton; and a sister Leda Craven of Seymour. A Christian memorial service will be held at the Beacon Hill Evangelical Free Church, Monroe, Saturday, August 4, 2001, at 9 a.m., followed by the interment at Mountain Grove Cemetery in Easton. All family members and friends are welcome back to Beacon Hill after the services for refreshments and fellowship. Memorial donations can be made to the Beacon Hill Evangelical Free Church, 371 Old Zoar Road, Monroe, CT 06468, in Mr. Nesteruk`s honor, care of the building fund.

TRUMBULL, CT
GONZALEZ
Antonio (Tony) Gonzalez, age 81, died Sunday, July 22, 2001, of natural causes at his residence in the Dominican Republic. He was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, on March 12, 1920, and was a longtime resident of Bridgeport for more than 60 years. His beloved wife for 56 years, Lucy Gonzalez, still resides in Bridgeport, along with their six daughters and only son: Antonio Gonzalez Jr., Ellen Luna of Florida, Mary Grace Vargas, Norma Resto, Rosemary Muniz, Ginny Resto and Gloria Leon. Other survivors include 21 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. A funeral service was held on July 23, 2001, in the Dominican Republic where he was laid for eternal rest. The family wishes to give special thanks to the Alcantara family and all the friends that have shown their love and support at this difficult time.
