Margery Coutermash

WESTBROOK -- Margery Reynolds Coutermash, 64, of 8 Newell Terrace, Westbrook, died at her home on Wednesday, May 15, 2002 after a short illness. She was the wife of the late David Coutermash.

Born in Meriden on Nov. 19, 1937, daughter of the late Raymond and Marjorie Oakes Reynolds. She has lived in Westbrook for the past nine years, formerly of Meriden. She was a member of YME of Old Saybrook and was a justice of the peace for the town of Westbrook.

She is survived by three daughters, Debra Peterson of Mount Pocono, Pa., Sharon Hammar of Providence, R.I., and Kara Gamble of Westbrook; one brother, Richard Reynolds of Southington; and 10 grandchildren.

Memorial donations may be made in her memory to Dr. Peter Dixon for Charity Help or Bravehearts Kind Soul Fund, 192 Westbrook Road, Essex, CT 06426. Private funeral services will be at the convenience of the family. The Swan Funeral Home, 1224 Boston Post Road, Old Saybrook is in charge of arrangements.

John A. Dolan

SOUTHINGTON -- John A. Dolan, 36, of Southington, died Thursday, May 16, 2002 at CT Hospice in Branford, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the husband of Heather Lyn (Bresnahan) Dolan.

Born in Waterbury on July 28, 1965, the son of James and Laney (Crowley) Dolan of New Britain and Charlestown, R.I. He had attended local schools in Waterbury and Meriden and graduated from Maloney High School, as the 1983 Class President. John graduated with a BA in History from Norwich University, Vermont. He began his career in law enforcement with the Meriden Police Department. John was a U.S. Army Veteran of Operation Desert Storm, and was a commissioned Captain with the U.S. Army Reserve. John was a 12 year Veteran of the CT State Police, serving in the Bethany, Litchfield, Southbury Troops, and most recently as a Detective in the Gang Unit. He was an active member of the American Legion Kiltonic Post No. 72 and the Southington Elks Lodge No. 1669. He was a member of the CT State Police Emerald Society, and Academy Alumni Association.

Besides his wife and parents, he is survived by two brothers, Rev. Michael J. Dolan of St. Mary's Church in Newington, James C. and his wife, Emilyn Dolan of Southington; his paternal grandmother, Katherine Dolan of Waterbury; In-laws, Craig and Kelly Mafale and their children, Ashley and Sarah and Erin Bresnahan; mother-in-law, Ellen Bresnahan; and father-in-law, John Bresnahan and his wife, Midge, all of Southington.

A Mass of Christian Burial will held on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Cathedral of St. Joseph, 140 Farmington Ave., Hartford. Calling hours will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. Southington. Burial, with full Military and State Police honors, will be in South End Cemetery, Southington. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the Disabled American Veterans; 35 Cold Spring Rd; Rocky Hill CT. 06067

Doris L. Ferry

MERIDEN -- Doris L. Ferry, 55, of 42 Divot Drive, wife of Thomas L. Ferry III, died unexpectedly at home, Tuesday, May 14, 2002.

Born in Frankfurt, Germany on Feb. 10, 1947, she was the daughter of the late James and Lisolette (Herr) Dolan. She had resided in Meriden for the past 25 years, having moved to the United States in 1963. Doris had attended schools in Germany and was employed by CT Limousine at one time. She was an avid supporter of Maloney High School football. She loved all animals, especially cats, and enjoyed her time gardening and reading.

Besides her husband Tom, she is survived by four sons, Patrick and Daniel Ferry of Meriden, Jonathan Roeth of New Britain and James Roeth of Orem, Utah; a daughter and son-in-law, Dolores and Troy Bradley of Plainville; four grandsons, Ryan Roeth, Steven Freeman, James J. Graham and Russell Graham Jr.; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Irmfriede Henkel of Marburg, Germany and Sylvia and Ramiro Chavez of Beaumont, Texas ; an aunt, Gerhilde Schulteic and an uncle, Jochen Herr, both of Coelbe, Germany; several nieces, nephews and cousins; she is also survived by two very special friends, Linda Moore of Meriden and Barbara Lupi of East Haven.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, May 22, at 11 a.m. at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden with Rev. Eric Henderson officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Should friends desire contributions in her memory may be made to the Doris L. Ferry Maloney Football Scholarship Fund, c/o Castle Bank & Trust Co., 100 Hanover St., Meriden, CT 06451 or to the Meriden Humane Society, 540 Oregon Road, Meriden, CT 06451.

Edward Fox

WALLINGFORD -- Edward Fox, 66, of Wallingford died on Wednesday, May 15, 2002.

He was the beloved husband of the late Judith; loving brother of Robert (Pat) Fox and Mary Bachmann; dear brother-in-law of James Trethewey and Valerie Fox; cherished uncle of many.

Calling hours from 2 to 4:30 and 7 to 9:30 p.m. Sunday at Raynor & D'Andrea Funeral Home, 245 Montauk Hwy., west Sayville, N.Y. Funeral Mass at 9:45 a.m. Monday at St. John Nepomucene RC Church, Bohemia. Interment in St. Charles Cemetery.

Robert J. Glidden

DURHAM -- Robert James Glidden, 22, of Tuttle Road, Durham, died unexpectedly Monday, May 16, 202 in Durham.

Born in Meriden, Dec. 3, 1979, a son of Percy A. Glidden III and Elizabeth A. Gombita Glidden of Durham. He was a Wallingford resident before moving to Durham in 1997. He was a 1997 graduate of Horace C. Wilcox Regional Vocational Technical High School in Meriden and had served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Theodore Roosevelt until his discharge this past August, and previously had served aboard the U.S.S. Simon Lake. He was employed by the Chapman Manufacturing Co., in Durham since August.

Besides his parents, he is survived by his sister, Brandi Ann Glidden; his brother, Matthew Percy Glidden, both of Durham; his maternal grandparents, James and Anna Gombita of Wallingford; his paternal grandparents, Percy Glidden Jr. and Loretta Glidden of Lubec, Maine; his paternal great-grandmother, Irene Fountain of Wallingford; his paternal great-grandfather, Gaylord Dolan of Vermont; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

His family will receive relatives and friends in the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St. Ext., Wallingford, Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial Saturday at 11:30 a.m. in Most Holy Trinity Church in Wallingford. Interment with military honors will be in the In Memoriam Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory may be sent to Coginchaug Regional High School, Pickett Lane, Durham, CT 06422, where a scholarship fund will be set up to honor Robert.

Helen M. Hlavac

WALLINGFORD -- Helen Marie Hlavac, 95, of Wallingford, formerly of Bohemia, Long Island, died on Thursday, May 16, 2002 in the Regency House in Wallingford.

Born in New York City, Mrs. Hlavac had lived in Bohemia most of her life, moving to Wallingford in 1984. Mrs. Hlavac was the former Post Master of Bohemia. She was a charter member of the Bohemia Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and an active member of the Suffolk Country Republican Party.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Karen of Wallingford and Alan and Joan of Florida; also nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, George in 1957; and by a son, Gary in 1969.

Friends and relatives may visit on Monday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Raynor and D'Andrea Funeral Home, West Sayville, Long Island. A religious service will be held at 1 p.m. with interment following the Bohemia Union Cemetery.

Vannina Campbell

CHESHIRE -- Mrs. Vannina (Toneatto) Campbell, 70, of 624 Cornwall Ave., died Thursday, May 16, 2002 at St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury. She was the widow of John F. Campbell Sr.

Mrs. Campbell was born May 15, 1932 in New York City, a daughter of the late Giovanni and Colomba (Zanin) Toneatto and lived in Cheshire for the past 45 years. She was a graduate of Long Island City High School and Queens College in New York. Over her career as a social worker, she worked at the New York Foundling Hospital in New York City, Ridgewood Health Care Facility in Southington and the Cheshire Convalescent Center until her death. Mrs. Campbell was a communicant of St. Bridget's Church.

She leaves three sons, John F. Campbell Jr. of Milford, Christopher T. Campbell of Plant City, Fla., Brendan T. Campbell of Ann Arbor, Mich.; two daughters, Carolyn Pfaff of Hamden, Claire Campbell of Manhattan, N.Y.; a sister, Edna Bonafede of Kunkletown, Pa.; and eight grandchildren. She was predeceased by two brothers, Edward Toneatto and Leno Toneatto.

The funeral will be held Monday, May 20, at 9:15 a.m. from the Slater Funeral Home, 242 South Main St., Cheshire to St. Bridget's Church for a Mass at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Bridget's Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cheshire Convalescent Center, Recreational Therapy Department, 745 Highland Ave., Cheshire, CT 06410, Attn. Mary Ellen Crawford.

Randall C. Dontigney

HOLLY HILL, Fla. -- Randall C. Dontigney, 46, of Holly Hill, Fla., formerly of Meriden died Friday, May 10, 2002 in Holly Hill, Fla.

Born in Middletown on Dec. 21, 1955, he was the son of the Joanne (Sienna) Dontigney of Holly Hill, Fla., and the late Leon J. Dontigney, and had lived in Meriden before moving to Holly Hill, Fla., seven years ago. He was employed at Aircraft Specialties in New Smyrna Beach, Fla.

Besides his mother, he is survived by one brother, Timothy Dontigney of Middletown; three sisters, Sherryann Varano of Meriden, Joyce Marie Dontigney of Pennsylvania and Leanne Dontigney of Holly Hill, Fla.; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Portland Memorial Funeral Home, 231 Main St., Portland. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Portland. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m.

Doris Harrington

GUILFORD -- Doris James Harrington, 79, of Guilford and formerly of Wallingford, passed away Thursday, May 16, 2002 at CT. Hospice in Branford, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the wife of Robert J. Harrington.

Born Oct. 7, 1922 in Wallingford, daughter of the late Albert S. and Elsie Mitchell James. Mrs. Harrington was employed for many years by the Wallingford Board of Education and following her retirement she volunteered at St. George Church, Guilford.

She was the mother and mother-in-law of Robert J. Jr. and Bonnie Harrington and James and Inez Harrington, all of Wallingford, Carol and Al Griffin of Suffield and Nancy and Raymond Bovich of Clinton; sister of Everett James of Wallingford; also survived by 10 grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held Monday, May 20, at St. George Church, Guilford at 10 a.m. Burial in St. John's Cemetery, Wallingford. Contributions in Mrs. Harrington's memory may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, P.O. Box 224523, Dallas, Texas 75222 or American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 1004, Meriden, CT 06450. Mrs. Harrington will be forever in our hearts and missed by all who knew her. Arrangements in care of the Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church St., Guilford.
