Charles R. Carlson

JACKSONVILLE ,Fla. -- Charles Richard Carlson, 69, formerly of Meriden, died Friday, July 26, 2002, at Memorial Hospital Jacksonville after a lengthy illness. He leaves his loving wife of 46 years, Marjorie Ennis Carlson.

Born Feb. 4, 1933, in Meriden, he was the son of the late John and Gertrude Woods Carlson. He was an Army veteran. Mr. Carlson was a past president of the Silver City Golf Association. He owned CRC Cleaning. He worked as a machinist at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft until his retirement.

Besides his wife, he leaves his sons, John Carlson of Alabama and Charles Carlson Jr. of Florida; his daughters, Darleen Finegan of Florida, Lori Zimmerman of Tennessee, Noreen Piscitelli of Northford and Terri Barnett of Alabama; also survived by his brothers, Joseph Carlson of Portland, William Carlson of Meriden; his sister, Lorraine Busca of Florida; his 14 grandchildren; one great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Robert Carlson of Meriden.

A graveside service at Walnut Grove Cemetery, Meriden, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 31. There will be no calling hours.

Pilar Frau Casasin

MANHATTAN -- Pilar Frau Casasin passed away on Thursday, Aug. 22, 2002, at age 87 in Manhattan. Beloved wife of the late Joaquin.

Adoring mother of Trini; dear sister of the late Herminia Aparisi, Trini Garcia and Carmen Marcelo; devoted aunt of Joe Aparisi of Meriden, Trina Bayne, Ramon Garcia and David Garcia.

Funeral Mass at Blessed Sacrament Church Tuesday at 1:15 p.m. Entombment at Woodlawn Mausoleum. Contributions in her memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Irene McGaughan

WALLINGFORD -- Mrs. Irene McGaughan of the Regency House in Wallingford passed away peacefully on Friday, Aug. 16, 2002.

Mrs. McGaughan had previously resided in the Albany, New York, area before settling in Connecticut about 23 years ago. Mrs. McGaughan was an active member of the local chapter of the Wives of World War II Submarine Veterans.

Mrs. McGaughan was predeceased by her husband, Hugh McGaughan, and her long time friend and companion, Frank Fasolo. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia "Ann" Damon, and grandson, Bruce Damon, both of California. She is also survived by her long time friend and caregiver, May Arthur, and friend, Milton Whitney of New Hampshire.

Mrs. McGaughan will be interred at Our Lady of Angela Cemetery in Albany, NY. Arrangements were under the direction of the John J. Ferry and Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden, CT.

Joseph Voitkevics

MERIDEN -- Joseph Voitkevics, 82, of Spring Street, Meriden, died Sunday, August 25, 2002, at the MidState Medical Center in Meriden. He was the husband of Louise Mullershon Voitkevics.

Born July 24, 1920, in Latvia, he had been a Meriden resident for many years. He was employed by the city of Meriden Water Department for many years until his retirement.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Maria and Frederick Crocker of Vermont; his two sons and daughters-in-law, Paul K. and Diane Voitkevics of Plainville and Walter E. and Joanne Voitkevics of Durham; four grandchildren, Vicki Lamoureux, Donna Vaillancourt, Nicholas Voitkevics and Melanie Voitkevics; and four great-grandchildren.

His family will receive relatives and friends in the Yalesville Funeral Home, 386 Main Street, Yalesville section of Wallingford, Tuesday from 5 to 6:45 p.m. Funeral services will be held Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. in the Yalesville Funeral Home. Interment will be private.

Mary Caccagna

SOUTHINGTON -- Mary (Luponio) Coccagna, 92, of Buckland St., Plantsville section, died Monday Aug. 26, 2002 at Tandem Health Care. She was the widow of Bartolomeo Coccagna.

Born in Southington on July 5, 1910, the daughter of the late Valentino and Assunta (Cimenelli) Luponio. She and her husband ran a small farm on South Main St., in Plantsville for many years. Many years ago she had worked at the Ball and Socket in Cheshire and during World War II she was employed at Peck Stow & Wilcox and she had also worked at Allied Control Co. Mrs. Coccagna was a member of the Calendar House and spent many hours working on hand made crafts. She was a parishioner of St. Aloysius Church.

She is survived by two sons, Valentino Coccagna and Abramo and his wife, Loretta Coccagna, all of Southington; two daughters, Carmela and her husband, Arthur Bazzano of Meriden and Rita and her husband, Alfred Ingriselli of Plantsville; 10 grandchildren, Anthony, Nancy and Lillian Coccagna, Carol Ladd, Shannan Lane, Jennine Vosburgh, Maryann Kehrein, Valerie Kazlowski, John Ingriselli and Christine Gerrish; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. She was predeceased by two sisters, Beatrice Crispino, Rose DeFranco; and a brother, Angelo Luponio.

The funeral will be held on Thursday at 9:15 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington to St. Aloysius Church for Mass at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Donations may be made in her memory to St. Aloysius Church, 254 Burritt St., Plantsville, CT 06479.

BettyLee Gallinoto

MERIDEN -- BettyLee Johnson Gallinoto, 72, of 32 Silver St., died Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2002 at Meriden Nursing and Rehab Center. She was the wife of the late Lt. Colonel Michael R. Gallinoto.

Born in Meriden, on Dec. 7, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Carl V. and Lee Marion Lynch Johnson. She graduated from Meriden High School in 1947 and attended St. Elizabeth School of Nursing in Elizabeth, N.J. For many years she worked in the dental office of Dr. Robert Bailey in the office of Bailey, Langan and Frank. She did volunteer work at the Meriden Rehab Center and also volunteered at the Bridges at Lake Whitney Assisted Living Center in Hamden and was known for her craft work. She was a member for many years of the former Augustana Lutheran Church and was a member of the Scripture Group at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. She was also a member of the Auxiliary of Retired Officers Association.

She is survived by a sister, Jacquelyn J. Johnson of Lutherville, Md.; a brother, Bruce C. Johnson of Sackville, New Brunswick, Canada; three stepdaughters, Gina Konicki and Grace Schwartz, both of Milford and Josephine Szirbik of Wakefield, N.H.; a stepson, Frank Gallinoto of Corinth, Texas ; several step-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Beecher and Bennett Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden. The Rev. Randy Somody will officiate. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. If desired, contributions in Mrs. Gallinoto's memory may be made to a charity of one's choice.

Michael P. Maisano

NORTH HAVEN -- Michael P. Maisano, 51, of 6 Howe St., North Haven, died Sunday, Aug. 25, 2002 at his home. He was the husband of Mary Andersen Maisano.

He was the son of L. Peter and Mary Esposito Maisano; father of Peter M. and Anthony D. Maisano; and brother of Gail Coyle.

Funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., North Haven, Thursday at 9:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Barnabas Church at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. The visiting hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Maisano Children's Education Fund through the funeral director.

Estelle Oberle

SOUTHINGTON -- Estelle Perrault Oberle, 88, of Southington, died Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2002 at Plainville Health Center. She was the widow of Lawrence Oberle.

Born Feb. 24, 1914 in Springfield, Mass., the daughter of the late Jean and Clara Gauthier Perrault, Estelle had been a Waterbury resident for 40 years before moving to Southington. She had volunteered at St. Vincent DePaul Society in Waterbury for many years.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Michael Hall of Southington; two granddaughters, Michelle Hancock and Rachael Gonzalez; one great-granddaughter, Isabella Hancock; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Aug. 29, at 9 a.m. from the Plantsville Memorial Funeral Home, 975 South Main St., Plantsville with a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at St. Thomas Church. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday from 9 to 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Donations in memory of Estelle, may be made to St. Vincent DePaul Society, P.O. Box 1612, Waterbury, CT 06721.

Martha B. Schnick

MERIDEN -- Martha B. Schnick, 82, of High Hill Road, died Monday, Aug. 26, 2002 at MidState Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Clarence A. Schnick.

She was most recently a resident of Masonic Geriatric Healthcare. Born in Waterbury on May 26, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Gustav and Olga Blank Breitenbach. She was a graduate of Grace New Haven School of Nursing and was employed at the Meriden VNA and later at Meriden-Wallingford Hospital from which she retired. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where she was on the Pastoral Care Team, also a member of the Order of Amaranth, Westwood Court No. 5 and the AARP.

She is survived by two daughters, Evelyn "Lynn" Stanton and her husband, Edward of South Meriden and Janet Rae Peichert and dear friend, Roger Svensk of New Britain; two grandchildren, Heather Anne Lally of Wallingford and Michael P. Lally III and his wife, Laura of North Haven; a great-grandson, Dylan Michael Lally of North Haven; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Lally of Waterbury and Peggy Breitenbach of Wallingford; and a brother-in-law, Arthur Schnick of Meriden. She was predeceased by a sister, Helen Breitenbach; three brothers, Gustav, Arthur and Robert Breitenbach; and a nephew, David Breitenbach. The family would like to thank the staff of Central Connecticut Dialysis Center on Research Parkway in Meriden for the outstanding care over the years.

The funeral will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Beecher and Bennett Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden. The Rev. Perry L. Beaver will officiate. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. If desired, contributions in Mrs. Schnick's memory may be made to the Central Connecticut Dialysis Center, 377 Research Parkway, Meriden, CT 06450, or to the National Kidney Foundation, 920 Farmington Ave., West Hartford, CT 06107, or to a charity of one's choice.

Leonardo C. Suzio

MERIDEN -- Leonardo C. Suzio, 71, of 187 Brownstone Ridge, husband of Henrietta R. Suzio, died Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2002 at St. Raphael Hospital in New Haven.

Arrangements under the direction of the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden are incomplete and will be announced in Thursday's edition of the Record-Journal.
