Germaine Lefebvre

WALLINGFORD -- Germaine Lefebvre, 87, died Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2002 at Masonic Home, Wallingford. She was the wife of Arthould Lefebvre, also of the Masonic Home.

Born in Canada on Nov. 25, 1914, she was resides in Wallingford until her retirement from Gaylord Hospital, when they moved to Palm Bay, Fla.

Besides her husband of 68 years, she leaves her four children, Laurence Audet and son-in-law, Denis of Enfield, Roger Lefebvre and wife, Inge of Wallingford, Robert Lefebvre of Bradford, Vt., and Lise Clavette-Simone of Meriden; a brother, Armand Gregoire of N. Troy, Vt.; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by four sisters, Yvonne, Rose, Alice and Marie-Reine; one brother Gerard ; and a son-in-law, Frank Simone Sr.

The calling hours will be at the Hale Funeral Home, Rte. 5 in Bradford, Vt., from 3:30 to 5 p.m. and 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 3. The Mass of Christian burial will be held at the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Rte. 5, Bradford, Vt. In lieu of flowers please have Masses said for her or donations to Masonic Home, Wallingford, CT 06492.

Alice M. Majeski

MERIDEN -- Alice M. (O'Brien) Majeski, formerly of 52 Vine St., Meriden, wife of the late William J. Majeski, died on Thursday, Oct. 31, 2002 at Meriden Center after a lengthy illness.

Born in Central Falls, R.I., the daughter of the late Thomas E. and Rosanna (Rogers) O'Brien, she had resided in Meriden since 1942. Mrs. Majeski was employed as a head buyer of Uphams Dept. Store, retiring in 1961. She was a parishioner of St. Mary Church and a member of the St. Elizabeth Society.

She is survived by one stepson, Robert C. Majeski and his wife, Joyce of Meriden; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Edward L. and Helen O'Brien of Narragansett, R.I.; a daughter-in-law, Maureen Majeski of Norwalk; a sister-in-law, Dot O'Brien of Cumberland, R.I.; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a stepson, William Majeski Jr. of Norwalk; a sister, Mary Chaput of Rhode Island; and three brothers, John, Thomas and Joseph O'Brien, all of Rhode Island.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial to be held on Saturday, Nov. 2, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Church. Burial will be in St. Boniface Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to St. Mary Church, 5 Sherman Place, Meriden, CT 06451. Arrangements are under the direction of the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden.

Ralph Papallo

MERIDEN -- Ralph "Jeff" Papallo, 76, husband of Gertrude Mordarski Papallo of Oak St., Meriden, died Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2002 at the MidState Medical Center.

He was born in Meriden, Jan. 8, 1926, a son of the late Louis and Rose Lombardo Papallo. He was a lifelong resident of Meriden, educated in local schools and was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church. Mr. Papallo was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Navy. He was employed by the Allegheny Ludlum Co. of Wallingford for 32 years retiring in 1987.

Besides his wife, Gertrude, he is survived by a daughter, Maureen Papallo of Meriden; three sons and daughters-in-law, David and Deborah Papallo of Middlefield, Jeffrey and Linda Papallo of Newington and Kevin and Joanne Papallo of Meriden; a brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Marcella Papallo of West Haven; two sisters, Katherine Canelli of the Yalesville section of Wallingford and Julia Dighello of Meriden; three grandchildren, Leslie and Matthew Papallo of Middlefield and Carissa Sfakios of Newington; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Vincent Papallo; and a sister, Josephine Olson.

Relatives and friends are invited to his military funeral Saturday, Nov. 2, with calling hours at 8:30 a.m. in the Stempien Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Meriden, followed by a Mass of Christina burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. Stanislaus Church. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. The family respectfully requests that contributions be made in the form of donations to the St. Stanislaus School Fund, 82 Akron St., Meriden, CT 06450 or to a charity of one's choice.

Sigridur O. Strachan

MERIDEN -- Sigridur O. Markan Strachan, 62, of Hanover Ave., South Meriden, died Thursday, Oct. 31, 2002, at the Westfield Care and Rehabilitation Center in Meriden.

Born in Reykjavik, Iceland, Aug. 13, 1940, she was a daughter of the late Hordur and Gudrun Markan, she had been a Meriden resident for many years. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph Church in Meriden.

She is survived by her daughter, Isabel S. Roberge of Lyme; her two sons, George Strachan of North Haven and Charles A. Strachan of Meriden; her eight grandchildren, Daniel Strachan, Michael Strachan, Kyle Roberge, Crystal Strachan, Tom Strachan, Alex Roberge, Chandler Estridge and Christian Strachan; her great-granddaughter, Kali Strachan; two sisters, and a brother, all of Iceland; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters and a brother.

Her family will receive relatives and friends in the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St., Ext., Wallingford, Sunday, from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday at 9 a.m. from the Wallingford Funeral Home, when the funeral cortege will proceed to St. Joseph's Church, in Meriden, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery in Wallingford.

Mary Bercier

WALLINGFORD -- Mary Chappo Bercier, 85, formerly of Loring Court, Yalesville, a retired waitress and former employee and volunteer at the Masonic Healthcare Center, died at the Masonic Home on Nov. 1, 2002, where she lived for the past year.

She leaves two sons, the Reverend Barry E. Bercier, A.A., of Worcester, Mass., and Brian P. Bercier and his wife Jane, of Oxford, Mass.; two grandchildren, Caroline and Meredith Bercier; a sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Julius Kristan of Wallingford; and many nieces and nephews. Her husband Ernie died in 1977. Two sisters, Anne Angelo and Marguerite O'Leary; and a brother, Andy Chappo, predeceased her.

She was born in Wallingford in 1917 to the late Stephen and Margaret Kepes Chappo, both immigrants from Hungary. She attended Holy Trinity School and graduated from Lyman Hall High School, where she was a standout athlete, excelling in basketball and bowling. She and her family moved to Fort Lauderdale, Fla., in 1960. She worked for many years at the Sweden House restaurant, in Fort Lauderdale, where customers would wait in line for her tables while others stood empty. She returned to Wallingford in 1987 to be close to her family. She loved helping people and animals, lending her support to many charitable organizations for many years. She also enjoyed playing set-back, swimming and horseback riding; She was a parishioner of Most Holy Trinity Church in Wallingford.

Her family will receive relatives and friends in the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St., Ext., Wallingford, Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday at 9:30 a.m. from the Wallingford Funeral Home, when the funeral cortege will proceed to Most Holy Trinity Church where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery in Wallingford. In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory may be sent to the Masonic Charity Foundation, P.O. Box 70, Wallingford, CT 06492.

Jeffrey C. Ford

MYSTIC -- Jeffrey Clinton Ford, 45, of Mystic, died Saturday, Oct. 26, 2002 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in New London.

Born in Torrington, Dec. 12, 1956, son of Shirley (Benedict) Ford of Meriden and the late Donald E. Ford. He was a graduate of Torrington High School, class of 1974. He was a longtime resident of Torrington, moving to Mystic five years ago. He was a former employee of The Torin Corporation and also worked for Torrington Metal products.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his brothers, Randall J. Ford of Winsted, Glenn W. E. Ford of North Granby and Todd S. Ford of Meriden; he also leaves two sisters, Diane L. Ford of New Britain and Lisa Beth Ford of Clearwater, Fla.; and a half brother, Donald Ford of Winter Springs, Fla. his maternal grandmother, Adele Benedict of Torrington; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family will receive friends and relatives at Iso Labella, Twin Lakes, Lakeville on Saturday, Nov. 2, from 2 to 5 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Phalen Funeral Home, 285 Migeon Ave., Torrington is assisting with arrangements.

Millie Harrington

SOUTHINGTON -- Millie (Raymond) Harrington, 73, of 6 Carter Lane, Plantsville section, died Friday Nov. 1, 2002 at Bradley Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of Joseph Harrington.

Born on April 25, 1929 in Eagle Lake, Maine, the daughter of the late Vincent and Delia (Devoe) Raymond. Mrs. Harrington was a resident of Southington for the past 30 years as well as a resident in Leesburg, Fla., for 20 years. She was a parishioner of Mary Our Queen Church.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Marsha and her husband, Steven McCarty of Meriden, David Harrington of Southington, Dana and his wife, Linda Harrington of New Britain; a sister, Pauline Faulkner of Bristol; two brothers, Carlton Raymond of Bristol and Roy and his wife, Donna of Farmington; five grandchildren, Christopher, Joel and Bryan McCarthy, Tamarah Smith and Kyline Harrington; three great-grandchildren, Devyn, Logan and Andrew; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Gregory; three sisters; and five brothers.

The funeral will be held on Monday at 9:15 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington to Mary Our Queen Church at 10 a.m. Calling hours will be on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

Joseph A. Mahon

MERIDEN -- Joseph A. Mahon, 93, of 320 Colony St., died Thursday at the Bradley Home.

Born in Meriden on July 19, 1909, the son of the late Thomas and Mary Mason Mahon, he had resided in Washington , D.C., for over 40 years, moving back to Meriden seven years ago. Mr. Mahon attended local schools before graduating from Yale University in 1931. He was Personnel Director for the F.H.A. and H.U.D. in Washington , D.C., until his retirement. He was a parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Church, active in the Irish Bicentennial and while in Washington , an active member of St. Mathew's Cathedral.

He is survived by one sister, Rosemary Mahon Corcoran of Meriden; a sister-in-law, Mildred S. Mahon of Meriden; three nieces and nephews, Atty. Brian T. Mahon and Sheila Corcoran Kravitz, both of Meriden and Mary Corcoran Urbanski of Virginia Beach, Va. He was predeceased by two brothers, Harold C. Mahon and T. Mason Mahon.

The funeral will be held on Monday, Nov. 4, at 9:15 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden and at 10 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Bradley Home, 320 Colony St., Meriden CT06451 or St. Rose of Lima Church, 35 Center St., Meriden CT 06450.

Richard J. Russell

WOODBRIDGE -- Richard Russell, of 16 Olde Country Road, Woodbridge, husband of Elizabeth Laprey Russell, died suddenly of injuries sustained from a private airplane crash. of which he was the only person on board, Oct. 31, 2002, in Garrett County, Maryland.

Richard was born in 1939, grew up in New Haven and Woodbridge. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1957, serving for five years in Europe and North Africa. He married Elizabeth Laprey in 1966 and worked several jobs before starting his own business in 1969. Industrial Time & Systems, Inc. (I-T-S), based in Wallingford with offices in Hackensack, N.J. and Plainville, Mass., began as a mechanical time clock sales and service company in his basement and grew into a multi-faceted systems integration company over the years. The company sold numerous product lines and technologies, including parking revenue control, fire alarm detection and building security. It continues to maintain a core business of time systems. I-T-S currently employs 70 people in five states. He was Chairman of the Board of I-T-S. He also owned and managed numerous commercial properties in Connecticut and Massachusetts. These included several buildings from which Industrial time & Systems, Inc. operates. He was an avid general aviator, with certifications to fly a number of small aircraft, including Cessna 172, Cessna 182, Piper Arrow and Piper Saratoga. He has made several cross-country trips to destinations as diverse as Canada, Alaska, Florida and throughout the Midwestern United States. He was a member of the Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association (AOPA) He was a lifelong member of Masonic Lodge #103 in North Haven.

He was the father of Shawn R. Russell and Brian A. Russell, both of Fairfield and Pamela Salamone of Woodbridge; father-in-law of Kelly and Lisa Russell and Michael Salamone; brother of John B. Russell of Killingworth, Linda Minoudis of Westbrook, Sis Buzzard of Florida and the late Norma Jean Andrews; also survived by eight grandchildren.

Services will be held in The Madison Lutheran Church, Britton La., Madison, Tuesday afternoon at 12:30 p.m. Friends may call at Sisk Brothers Funeral Home, 3105 Whitney Ave., Hamden, Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial in Eastside Cemetery,. Woodbridge. Memorial contributions may be made to the Memorial Scholarship Funds of Fairfield University, 1073 No. Benson Road, Fairfield, CT 06824, or Salve Regina College, 100 Ochre Pt., Newport, R.I. 02840.
