Mary G. Hoffman

MERIDEN -- Mary G. Hoffman, 84, of 71 Dryden Drive, wife of Alfred A. Hoffman, died on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2002, at MidState Medical Center following a long illness.

Born in Somerville, Aug. 5, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Mary Durkin Halpin. Mrs. Hoffman had resided in Meriden for the past 53 years. She was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church. Mrs. Hoffman was a life member of the DAV Auxiliary, Senior Citizens Center and was a former member of the Meriden Women's Club.

Besides her husband, Alfred, she is survived by four nieces and five nephews, Cynthia Kaplan, Joyce Jones, Patricia Mull, Karen Stern, Dan Halpin, Robert Halpin, Gerald Halpin, William Gavine and Henry (Bud) Hoffman Jr.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002, at 10:15 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., and at 11 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Church. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m.

David B. Hoover

WALLINGFORD -- David Bartlett Hoover, 74, of Ridgewood Circle, and Old Orchard Beach, Maine, passed away unexpectedly, Saturday, Nov. 23, 2002, at his residence in Old Orchard Beach. He was the beloved husband of Jean M. Holmes Hoover.

Mr. Hoover was born in Medford, Mass., May 20, 1928, a son of the late Thomas C. and Gladys Naramore Hoover. A master craftsman, he had been Senior Designer at Wallace Silversmiths for 31 years until his retirement in 1990. His many accomplishments include graduating Summa Cum Laude from the Boston Museum of Fine Arts School, having been proprietor of a custom order jewelry business, the production of two sterling flatware designs, and the hand fabrication of a sterling silver water pitcher for a client in California.

Besides his wife, Jean, he is survived by his three daughters and sons-in-law, Christine and James Marsh of New Milford, Elisabeth and Jay Miller of Hendersonsville, N.C., and Kimberly L. and Jeffrey Walton of Wallingford; his step-daughters, Linda S. Schrader of Plainfield; his step-son and daughter-in-law, Bill J. and Nancy Case of Yalesville; a brother and sister-in-law, Richard W. and Pauline Hoover of Lexington, Mass.; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Cynthia Hoover.

His family will receive relatives and friends, Tuesday evening from 5 until 6:45 p.m. in the Yalesville Funeral Home, 386 Main St., Yalesville. A funeral service will be held in the Yalesville Funeral Home, Tuesday at 7 p.m. Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at In Memoriam Cemetery, Wallingford. Gifts in his memory may be sent to the charity of one's choice.

Jeannine N. Jutras

MERIDEN -- Jeannine N. Jutras, 67, of 329 Blackstone Village, wife of Richard Jutras, died suddenly on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2002, at MidState Medical Center.

Born Sept. 8, 1935, in Sherbrooke, Que. Canada, she was the daughter of the late Willi and Lina Theberge Latendresse. Mrs. Jutras attended schools in Canada and was a parishioner of St. Laurent Church. She was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne, a member of the Franco-American Club Ladies Aux., and was a volunteer for the Salvation Army.

Besides her husband, Richard, she is survived by four sisters and three brothers-in-law, ReJeannine and Paul Couture of Burlington, Ontario, Giselle and Lucien Guilmette, Lucile and Jules Gervais, and Laurette Demers, all of Sherbrooke Que. She also leaves sisters and brothers-in-law, Gorgette DuMoulin, Marie Claire Boivers, Mr. and Mrs. Luc Delonchamp and Mr. and Mrs. Jacques Jutras, all of Sherbrooke Que; also several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 27 at 9:15 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., and at 10 a.m. at St. Laurent Church. Burial will be in St. Laurent Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to St. Laurent Church, 121 Camp St., Meriden, CT 06450.

Paul B. Sheridan

MERIDEN -- Paul B. Sheridan, 88, formerly of 402 Wall St., husband of the late Mildred Johnson Sheridan, died on Nov. 23, 2002, at Westfield Care & Rehab Center.

Born in Bolton on Dec. 8, 1913, the son of the late Michael and Julia Sheridan. He had resided in Meriden for many years and graduated from Manchester High School, class of 1932. During his high school years he played football and served as an outstanding quarterback for the Manchester High School football team. Mr. Sheridan was employed by New Departure, retiring in 1978. He was a parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Church. Mr. Sheridan was an avid sportsman. Fishing and hunting with his sons and friends was an enjoyable part of his life. The art of carving decoys and ducks, and gardening were all sources of joy during his lifetime.

He is survived by a daughter, Maureen Iwanicki and her husband, Paul of Wallingford; three sons, Paul C. Sheridan of Meriden, Kerry Sheridan and his wife, Vicky of New Britain, Mark Sheridan and his wife, Jeanne of Washington Depot, Conn.; six grandchildren, Dawn Meagher of East Haddam, Deanne Iwanicki of St. Petersburg, Fla., Jeffrey Sheridan and Timothy Sheridan of Florida, Laurie Sheridan and Karen Tarlowski, both of New Britain; two great-grandchildren, Taylor Noelle Meagher of East Haddam and Nicholas Rinaldini of New Britain. He is also survived by a brother-in-law, Russell Johnson of Manchester; a sister-in-law, Mary Sheridan of Bolton; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a grandson, Dean P. Iwanicki.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 26, at 9:30 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden, and at 10 a.m. in St. Rose of Lima Church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. prior to the Mass.

Geraldine S. Sullivan

WALLINGFORD -- Geraldine Schultz Sullivan of 579 So. Main St., formerly of New Haven, wife of the late John V. Sullivan, died Nov. 24, 2002, in Branford.

Mrs. Sullivan was born in New Haven, Jan. 17, 1919, daughter of the late Anthony and Cecelia Trainor Schultz. She was a member of the Fraternal International Order of Eagles Auxiliary.

She was the mother of Mary Ann Malone of Wallingford, Jacqueline Kearney of Hamden, Kathleen Conlon of North haven, Nancy Mase of Northford, and the late Maureen Napierkowski and Daniel Sullivan; also survived by 23 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. She was the sister of the late Raymond Schultz.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Mary's Church, Hillhouse Ave., New Haven, Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. There will be no calling hours. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to The Branford Hills Memorial Fund, Alps Rd., Branford, CT 06450. Sisk Brothers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Catherine Casey

SOUTHINGTON -- Catherine (Shumway) Casey of Southington, wife of the late Martin F. Casey, died on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2002 at The Summit at Plantsville after a brief illness.

Born in Meriden on Jan. 9, 1919, the daughter of the late R. Herbert and Louise Curran Shumway, she had resided in Southington for over 50 years. She attended Meriden schools and was a graduate of Meriden High School, class of 1936.

She is survived by one daughter, Kathleen A. Casey of Savannah, Ga.; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Edward M. and Judy V. Casey of E. Hampton, Thomas M. and Bethany L. Casey of Waterford and Brian D. Casey of Southington; two grandchildren, Michael E. and Sean W. Casey of E. Hampton; two sisters and brother-in-law, Mary S. Person, formerly of Meriden and Jane S. and George H. Pierce of Meriden; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend calling hours at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden on Wednesday, Nov. 27, from 4 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service to follow. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Should friends desire, contributions in he memory may be made to: Cardiac Care Unit of St. Raphael's Hospital, 1450 Chapel St., New Haven, CT 06511 or the Salvation Army, P.O. Box 234, Meriden, CT 06450.

Helen Gere

NORTH HAVEN -- Helen Milewski Gere, 84, formerly of the Hartford Turnpike, North Haven, died Nov. 25, 2002 in the Curtis Home in Meriden. She was the wife of the late Ernest "Tom" Gere.

Born in Wallingford, Feb. 27, 1918, a daughter of the late Joseph and Anna Zajac Milewski, she had been a North Haven resident for many years. She had been employed by the Stanley-Judd Co., formerly of Wallingford, for several years until her retirement.

Mrs. Gere is survived by her sister, Stella Milewski of Wallingford; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her three brothers, Anthony, John and Frank Milewski.

Her family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St., Ext., Wallingford, Wednesday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. in The Wallingford Funeral Home. Interment will be in SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery.

Betty U. Jansson

SOUTHINGTON -- Betty U. Jansson, 81, formerly of 169 Fleetwood Road, Plantsville, died Friday, Nov. 22, 2002 at Bradley Memorial Hospital surrounded by her children.

Betty was born on March 25, 1921 in Berlin and was the daughter of the late Louis and Margaret (Morgan) Peterson. She also resided in New Britain and South Meriden during her life.

She is survived by her sons, Leon Jansson and his wife, Ylva of Meriden, Morgan Jansson and his wife, Renee of Plantsville and Kurt Jansson and his wife, Jackiee of Ellsworth, Maine; daughters, Betsy Kaminski and her husband, Joseph of Moodus and Linda Aurich and her husband, William of Florence, Ore.; grandchildren, Eric and Heather Jansson, Jeffrey and Sarah Kaminski, Lisa Jansson, Morgan Lynn Jansson and Justin Roberts, along with Franklin, William and Leigh Aurich; Betty is also survived by a great-grandson, David Alexander Green III; several nieces and nephews; also survived by her longtime companion, Burton L. Foote of Trumbull .She was predeceased by her brothers and sisters, Milton, Morgan, Robert, Margery and Jayne.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 27, at 7 p.m. at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Rudolph P. Krock

WESTBROOK -- Rudolph P. Krock, 83, of Westbrook and formerly of Meriden, husband of Valerie (Dziurgot) Krock, died unexpectedly Saturday, Nov. 23, 2002 at home.

Born in Meriden on April 9, 1919, the son of the late John and Sophia Krock, he had resided in Meriden for most of his life prior to moving to Westbrook some 15 years ago. Mr. Krock attended local schools and was owner and operator of Krock's Sunoco Stations for a number of years, and more recently was employed by Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in North Haven, retiring in 1985.

Besides his wife, Valerie, he is survived by one son, Rudolph P. Krock Jr., and one grandson, Neil Krock, both of Lawrenceville, Ga.; one sister, Sophie Thompson; one brother and sister-in-law, Adolph and Lorraine Krock, all of Meriden; also many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Eleanor Kurimsky of Stratford; and three brothers, John, Andrew and William Krock, all of Meriden.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend graveside services to be held on Friday, Nov. 29, at 11 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Friends may call at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden on Friday prior to graveside services from 9 to 10:30 a.m.
