Edwin B. Granger
WALLINGFORD -- Edwin Bishop Granger, 85, of Sunrise Circle, Wallingford, died Sunday, Dec. 29, 2002, at his residence. He was the beloved husband of Helen Nugent Granger.
Born in Barrington, R.I., Jan. 7, 1917, a son of the late Edward and Winifred Bishop Granger, he had been a New Haven area resident for several years until moving to Wallingford in 1963. He served with the U.S. Naval Reserve from 1935 to 1939 and was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Coast Guard on a rescue cutter off the French coast during the assault on Normandy. He had been employed as a tugboat pilot for the Blakeslee, Arpaia and Chapman Company of New Haven from 1957 until his retirement in 1982 and then served as a consultant to the company for several years. He was a parishioner of the Church of the Resurrection in Wallingford
Besides his wife Helen, he is survived by his three daughters and two sons-in-law, Gail Bergan of Portland, Ruth and Charles Scharf of Wallingford and Patricia and William Pegg of Plainville; five grandchildren, Elizabeth Pezzolesi, Melissa Granger and Andrew, Michael, and Allison Bergan; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Catherine Nugent Granger; and a sister, Ruth M. Ryan.
His family will receive relatives and friends in the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St., Ext., Wallingford, Thursday from 8 to 8:30 a.m., when the funeral cortege will proceed to the Church of the Resurrection, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. in Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery

Clayton S. Hourigan
PEN ARGYL, Pa. -- Clayton Seeley Hourigan, 89, of Pen Argyl, Pa., died Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2002 in the VA Medical Center in Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
Born Oct. 28, 1913 in Meriden, he was a son of the late James David and Annie Louise Remington Hourigan. He was a lifelong bachelor. He attended school in Meriden and later in Durham. After he left school, he worked as a farmhand in the Durham and Meriden area. He joined the U.S. Army on Jan. 7, 1942. He served in World War II and the Korean War, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant, before his honorable discharge, due to declining eyesight, on Feb. 16, 1965. He had resided in the U.S. Soldiers and Airmen's Home, Washington , D.C., before moving to Pen Argyl, Pa., in June 1998. While in Washington , he was active in the Republican Party and was a past commander of the VFW Post No. 248 in the District of Columbia and the King-Clark No. 4 DAV. He was a member of the American Legion and most recently the Charles Nelson Lobb American Legion Post No. 502 in Pen Argyl, Pa. He was also a life member of the NRA.
Survivors include, two nephews, Dudley Hourigan of Pen Argyl, Pa., Scott Hourigan of New Jersey; five nieces, Kay Larsen and Dawn Hourigan of Easton, Pa., Linda Haines of Louisville, Ky., Jane Petrella of Philadelphia, Pa., and Lori Hourigan of Somerville, N.J.; also cousins, Earl, Kenneth, John and Paul Hourigan and Mildred Bell, all of Meriden. He was predeceased by four brothers, James, Everett, Alvin and Dudley R. Sr.
Funeral services were held Dec. 21, 2002 in Califon, N.J. Interment was in the Lower Valley Union Cemetery, Califon. The Coughlin Funeral Home in Califon and James B. Gaffney Funeral Home, Pen Argyl, Pa., coordinated the arrangements.
Madge Ondusko
MERIDEN -- Madge (Whitman) Ondusko, 62, of 32 Essex Court, wife of Michael J. Ondusko, died peacefully at her home on Sunday, Dec. 29, 2002.
Born in New Haven on Feb. 20, 1940, the daughter of the late Arnold and Madeline (Moosdorf) Whitman, she had resided in Meriden since 1972. Mrs. Ondusko attended New Haven and North Haven schools and was employed by the Meriden Record-Journal for 23 years, retiring in 1996. She was a parishioner of St. Mary Church.
Besides her husband, Michael, she is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Robert Tessmer of Meriden and Janet and Frank Angelillo Jr. of Southington; one son and daughter-in-law, Michael J. III and Paula Ondusko of Wallingford; eight grandchildren, Nicholas and Ashley Tessmer, Alex and Erin Angelillo, Steven Creech, Thomas, Michael IV and Julia Ondusko; one sister, Sandra Marquis of Plainville; three brothers, Raymond Whitman of Rocky Hill, John Whitman of Wallingford and Arnold Whitman of Hamden; also several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Nancy Gail Ondusko.
The funeral will be held on Friday, Jan. 3, 2003, at 9:15 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden and at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Church. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery, North Haven. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the American Kidney Foundation, 920 Farmington Ave., W. Charles S. Perkins
MERIDEN -- Charles "Petey" Perkins, 59, of 15 Union St., died on Monday, Dec. 30, 2002, at Gaylord Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Born in Meriden on Jan. 29, 1943, he was the son of the late Herbert Perkins and Doris Wright Perkins Cashman. Mr. Perkins had resided in Meriden all of his life and graduated from Maloney High School. He was employed by Konica Photo Imaging of Windsor Locks, retiring three years ago.
He is survived by three brothers, Dennis Cashman of Meriden, James Cashman and Thomas Cashman, both of Wallingford; special grandchildren, Samantha and Melissa Biron; one aunt, June L'Heureux; a special cousin, Carole Eager; also several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral will be held on Friday, Jan. 3, 2003, at 10 a.m. in St. Pius X Church, 310 Westfield Road, Middletown. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Mary A. Wendrich
WALLINGFORD -- Mary A. Saldibar Wendrich, 87, of Sunny Acres, Wallingford, died Sunday, Dec. 29, 2002, at the MidState Medical Center in Meriden. She was the beloved wife of the late Carl W. Wendrich.
Born in West Haven, Sept. 21, 1915, daughter of the late Hannibal and Catherine Nardo Saldibar, she had been a Hamden resident for many years and a Wallingford resident for the past 43 years.
She is survived by her dear friends, Jaclyn and Joseph Wolak, Carrie Wolak, Christa Wolak, Shirley Thompson and her family and Barry Borak and his family, all of Wallingford; two sisters, Margaret (Mrs. Joseph) Fabiani of Wallingford and Louise (Mrs. J.C.) Miller of Lakeland, Fla.; three brothers, John Saldibar of Ansonia, William Saldibar of West Haven and Scott Saldibar of New Haven; and many nieces and nephews including, Carrie and Mark Meizie. She was predeceased by four sisters, Theresa Melillo, Amelia Witowsky, Eleanor Robbins and Catherine Saldibar; and four brothers, Joseph, Burton, Peter and Paul Saldibar.
Her family will receive relatives and friends in The Yalesville Funeral Home, 386 Main St., Yalesville section of Wallingford, Thursday from 12:15 until 1 p.m., when the funeral cortege will proceed to Beaverdale Memorial Park in Hamden, where a graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Gifts in her memory may be sent to the charity of one's choice.
Frank Baumberger Jr.
MOODUS -- Frank Baumberger Jr., 81, formerly of Park Drive, Kensington, died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2002, at Middlesex Memorial Hospital in Middletown after a short illness.
He was born in Wallingford, son of the late Frank and Mary Baumberger Sr. of Kensington.
He is survived by his sisters, Elizabeth Panciera of Meriden and Julia Richards of Kensington; a brother, Carl Baumberger of Putney, Vt.; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Anna Burkhardt of Southington and Madison, Dorothy Bakaj of Berlin and beloved childhood sister, Helen.
The funeral will be held on Friday, Jan. 3, 2003, at 10:30 a.m. at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Therman E. Cox
WEST HAVEN -- Therman E. Cox, 79, of Savin Park, West Haven, died Monday, Dec. 30, 2002, at the Hospital of St. Raphael in New Haven. He was the beloved husband of Bernice D. Wing Cox.
Born in Sherman Mills, Maine, June 22, 1923, son of the late Raymond and Pauline St. John Cox and had been a resident of West Haven for many years and a summer resident of Maine and a winter resident of Florida. He was employed by Manufacturers Express in New Haven as a truck driver for many years until his retirement, was a member of the Teamsters Union Local No. 443 of New Haven and had been a member of the West Haven Lodge of Elks.
Besides his wife Bernice, he is survived by his three sons and two daughters-in-law, Barry R. Cox of West Haven, James H. and Karen M. Cox of Wallingford and Dale O. and Jane K. Cox of Solon, Maine, formerly of Meriden; seven grandchildren, Rachel and Gregory Sackett of North Carolina, Alison and John Tricarico of Meriden, Daniel and Samantha Cox of Meriden, James Cox and Stephanie Cox both of Wallingford, Kristin Stellato of North Haven and Tina Menze of New York; two sisters, Glenda (Mrs. Stanley) Gadbois of Sherman Mills, Maine and Verda (Mrs. Bill) Keene of Brewer, Maine; a brother and sister-in-law, Clyde and Joan Cox of Maine; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter-in-law, Carolyn Cox; a sister, Eda Powers; and a brother, Cedric Cox.
His family will receive relatives and friends in the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St., Ext., Wallingford, Saturday from 12:45 to 2:45 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the Wallingford Funeral Home, Saturday at 3 p.m. Interment will be private. John B. Foffa
NEW BRITAIN -- John B. Foffa, 72, of 55 Tremont St., died Monday, Dec. 16, 2002 in the Harborside Health Care Facility, West Hartford after an extended illness. Mr. Foffa's memorial service in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Meriden will be held in Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003, at 9:30 a.m. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Smith-Ruzzo Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Meriden.
Mary Ann Napoli
SOUTHINGTON -- Mary Ann (Fiorello) Napoli, 86, of 5 Warfield Road, died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2002, at Bradley Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Patsy Napoli.
She is survived by a son, Paul J. and his wife, Denise Napoli of Southington; three grandchildren, Shaun and Carissa Napoli and Jaimie Varasconi.
The funeral will be held on Friday at 9:15 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington to Mary Our Queen Church at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery. Leonard M. Orlando
SOUTHINGTON -- Leonard M. Orlando, 80, of 51 October Lane, Plantsville section, died Monday, Dec. 30, 2002, at Bradley Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Adele (Grablowski) Orlando.
Mr. Orlando was born on June 1, 1922, in New Britain, son of the late Mark and Antoinette Orlando. He served in the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps during World War II, as a medic and received a Purple Heart. He was a retired plant engineer for the Reno Machine Co. in Newington, where he worked for over 25 years. For several years, he owned Len-Metal-Fab Co. in Berlin.
Besides his wife of 25 years, he leaves a son and daughter -in-law, Mark and Kristy Orlando of Santa Barbara, Calif.; six daughters, Patricia Orlando Morris of Columbia, Md., Judi Orlando Mahan and her husband, Daniel of Farmington, Susan Goodrich and her husband, Bruce of Bolton, Debra Orlando of Pittsfield, Mass., Marcia Horsey of California, Lia Orlando of Tampa, Fla.; a stepson, Richard Picone of New Paltz, N.Y., a stepdaughter, Patricia and her husband, Richard Clavet of Cheshire; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Catherine Orlando.
Funeral will be Friday 8:15 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home 211 N. Main St., Southington to Immaculate Conception Church for a Mass at 9 a.m. followed by military honors. Burial at Immaculate Conception Cemetery
