Donald J. Mesite

CHESTER -- Donald J. Mesite, 70, of Chester died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2003.

He was born in Meriden on March 10, 1932, the son of the late Frank and Teresa (Femia) Mesite.

He is survived by one daughter; two sons; and six grandchildren; he is also survived by a brother, Thomas; and six sisters, Rose Malavenda, Virginia Neun, Nancy Geremia, Florence D'Amaro, Edith Krauss and Theresa Krieger. He was predeceased by three brothers, John, James and Frank.

Burial was private.

Margaret Tarantino

SOUTHINGTON -- Margaret (Pasquale) Tarantino, 88, formerly of Old Turnpike Road died Thursday, Jan. 30, 2003 at Southington Care Center. She was the wife of the late Anthony P. Tarantino.

Born in Southington on Sept. 18, 1914, the daughter of the late Dominic and Lucy (Davilio) Pasquale. Prior to her retirement, many years ago, she had been employed by the former Allied Control Co. in Plantsville. Mrs. Tarantino was a former member of St. Rita's Circle and the Altar Society at St. Thomas Church.

She is survived by her devoted children, Robert Tarantino and his wife, Susan of Wallingford, Patricia Sgrillo and her husband, Ralph of Southington, Susan Belanger and her husband, Nelson of Fla., Rosemary Champagne and her husband, James of Plantsville; nine loving grandchildren, Robert Tarantino and his wife, Mary, Deborah DeFelice and her husband, Frank, Lisa Anne Tarantino, Michele Monahan and her husband, Timothy, Diane Sullivan and her husband, Michael, Gary Belanger and his wife, Mary, Gina Wrinn and her husband, William, Lori Cochrane and her husband, Dean, and Tracey Bents and her husband, Tom; 12 cherished great-grandchildren; three brothers, Armond Pasquale of Fla., Peter Pasquale of Southington and Dominic Pasquale Jr. of Bristol; and a sister, Philomena Chadbourne of Wolcott; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Mary Poggio; and a brother, Anthony Pasquale. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

The funeral will be held on Monday at 9:15 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington to Mary Our Queen Church at 10 a.m. for a Mass. Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. Donations may be made in her memory to the Southington Care Center, Patient's Recreation Fund, 45 Meriden Ave. Southington, CT 06489.

Helen J. Cichon

MERIDEN -- Helen J. Cichon, 80, of Adam Street, died Friday, Jan. 31st at MidState Medical Center. She was the wife of Walter Cichon.

She was born April 18, 1922, in Meriden, the daughter of the late Joseph and Francis (Gromala) Janczura. She worked for International Silver Co. for over 45 years. She was a member of St. Stanislaus Church.

Besides her husband, she is survived by a sister, Theresa Eckert of Meriden; a sister-in-law, Ann Janczura of Meriden; and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by a brother, Joseph Janczura.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday, Feb. 4th at 10 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Church. Burial to follow. Family and friends may call at the Szymaszek-Taylor Funeral Home, 189 East Main St., Meriden on Monday, Feb. 3rd from 5 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Stanislaus School Fund, 81 Akron St., Meriden, CT 06450.

George H. Kirschmann

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- George H. Kirschmann, 88, died Saturday, Feb. 1, 2003, at his home.

Born in Germany, he came to live in Connecticut with his family in 1925. He moved to Naugatuck in 1945 where he was employed by U.S. Rubber for 43 years. George's hobby of painting produced over 350 paintings which are owned throughout the U.S. and abroad. He is represented in the private collection of the Mattatuck Museum in Waterbury and the M.A.C. Gallery 55 in Meriden. He was a member of the Watertown Art League, Kent Art Association Pastel Society of America, Meriden Arts & Crafts, Friend of New Britain, Museum in Old Lyme. He studied at Madison Art School with Robert Brackman at University of Connecticut evening classes, with Emile Grieppe of Rockport, Mass and Ivan Olinski.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Dorothy Hobson Kirschmann of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; a son, George Kirschmann and his wife, Kathryn; a grandson, John Paul Kirschmann, all of Durham, N.C.; two cousins, Rolf Huth and Leni Wayand of Idar-Oberstein, Germany; and many nieces and nephews.

Inurnment will be at a later date in Meriden with family present. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to M.A.C. Gallery 55, Colony Street, Meriden, CT 06451, home of many of George's paintings in their permanent collection McMillan-Small Funeral Home of Myrtle Beach is in charge of arrangements. Everett R. Lund

EAST HARTFORD -- Everett R. "Jeff" Lund, 87, husband to the late Arleine (Tanner) Lund, of 55 years, passed away Thursday, Jan. 31, 2003, at his home.

Everett was born March 23, 1915, in Grafton, Mass., son of the late John T. and Mae (Chadwick) Lund and his step-mother, Marion Smith Lund. He was a retired tool and die maker with Pratt and Whitney Aircraft for 38 years. He was a member of the British American Club of Manchester.

Everett is survived by three daughters, Marilyn Hodgkins of Vernon, Lynda Wodopian of Manchester, and Deanna Martin of Wallingford, and Boynton Beach, Fla.; one sister, Beverly Winter of Charlestown, R.I.; two brothers, Melvin Lund of Taunton, Mass., and Lloyd Lund of Moraga, Calif.; eight grandchildren, Joanne Gaudet, Jackie Wrinn, Michael Hodgkins, Kevin Hodgkins, Kristin Hodgkins, Jeff Rasmussen, Jill Cousins and Tara Wodopian; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. A special thank you to his caregiver, Asta, for all the loving care she has given to him for the past two and a half years. Besides his wife, Everett is predeceased by one brother, Harold Lund.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003, at 10:30 a.m. in the Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home Chapel, 318 Burnside Ave., East Hartford, CT. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, East Hartford, CT. Calling hours will be Monday, Feb. 3, 2003, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association Connecticut Affiliate, Inc., 5 Brookside Drive, Wallingford, CT 06492-1822.

Josephine F. Wichroski

SOUTHINGTON -- Josephine F. (Mihalak) Wichroski, 92, of 61 Rourke Ave., died Jan. 31, 2003, at The Summit Health Care Center. She was the wife of the late Stanley Wichroski.

Josephine was born in Wallingford on Nov. 5, 1910 and was the daughter of the late Jacob and Katherine (Moran) Mihalak. She was employed at the Ball and Socket Co. in Cheshire and Marion Metal Co. in Marion. She was a parishioner of the Holy Trinity Polish National Catholic Church. She had served on the Church Parish Council as vice chairman, she was a member of the Adoration Society of the Blessed Sacrament and was a member of the parish obligations and "peirogy" groups.

She is survived by a daughter, Clare Strachel and her husband, Chester Sr. of Southington; two brothers, Joseph Mihalak and his wife, Judy of Southington and John Mihalak and his wife, Mary of Barkhamstead; a sister, Anna Triano of Southington; a sister-in-law, Helen Mihalak of Southington; her beloved grandchildren, Chester Strachel Jr., John and his wife, Teresa Strachel, Brian Strachel, Christine and her husband, David Tufts, all of Southington; great-grandchildren, Jason Strachel, Shannon Strachel, Krystle Strachel and Nathan Tufts, all of Southington; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Robert Wichroski; a sister, Helen Hlavka; and a brother, Stephen Mihalak.

The funeral will be held Tuesday at 9:45 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. to the Holy Trinity Polish National Catholic Church. Burial will be at the Holy Trinity Polish National Catholic Cemetery at a later date. Calling hours will be Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. Donations may be made in her memory to the Holy Trinity Polish National Church, 200 Summer St., Plantsville, CT 06479. Josephine's family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at the Summit in Plantsville, their loving care and concern for Josephine did not go unnoticed, and we would like to say "thank you all".

Edward L. Bagnaschi Sr.

Meriden -- Edward L. Bagnaschi, Sr., 69, of 50 Sperry Lane, died Sunday, Feb. 2, 2003, at MidState Medical Center. He was the husband of Phyliss Mascatello Bagnaschi.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced at a late date.

George A. Brooks

MERIDEN -- George A. Brooks, of Old Colony Road, husband of Lenore K. Brooks, died Jan. 15, 2003.

He is survived by five children, Aaron, Sonja, Naomi and Barry Brooks and his wife, Amy,; a daughter, Sharlene LaBissoniere and husband, Daniel; and eight grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, 262 Bee Street, on Friday, Feb. 7, at 7 p.m. Donations could be sent to his wife, 1029 Old Colony Road, Apt. 11, South Meriden.

Eileen P. Dyrek

MERIDEN -- Eileen P. Dyrek, of Elm Street, wife of Stanley P. Dyrek, died on Friday, Jan. 31, 2003, at home after a brief illness.

Born in Athlone, Ireland, daughter of the late Thomas and Bridget Jameson Conway. She had resided in Meriden since 1953 and graduated from schools in Ireland. She was a member of the Mary Hart Crusaders, and St. Stanislaus Mother's Circle.

Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters , Theresa Dyrek and Barbara Hesse, both of Meriden; two sons, Joseph Dyrek of Meriden and Thomas Dyrek of West Haven; five grandchildren, Melissa, Heather, Patrick, Kevin, and Kaitlyn. She is also survived by one sister, Nancy Shortt of Dublin, Ireland; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three sisters; and eight brothers.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main Street, and at 11 a.m. in St. Mary Church. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home prior to the Mass from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Hospice Home Care, 110 Barnes Road, Wallingford, CT 06492.

Rose F. Micciche

MERIDEN -- Rose F. Micciche, 88, of Fairmount Ave., died Sunday, Feb. 2, 2003, at the Westfield Care in Meriden. She was the wife of Nicolo T. Micciche.

Born in Italy on June 14, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Gorino and Trufinio Ferrigno.

Besides her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Patricia Uvino of Meriden; a son, Richard and Louise Micciche of Florida; four grandchildren, John and Janet Uvino of Meriden, Anthony Uvino of Meriden, LouAnn Micciche of Florida, and Gina and James Tiexera of New York; four great-grandchildren, Christina Uvino, Dominic Uvino, Nicole Uvino and Lauren Uvino, all of Meriden. She was predeceased by a brother, Salvator Ferrigno.

The funeral will be from Beecher & Bennett-Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden, Tuesday morning, Feb. 4, at 10 a.m. Mass of Christina burial will be celebrated in Saint Rose Church at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Meriden. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday morning, from 8 to 10 a.m.
