Janet F. Wagner
MERIDEN — Janet F. Wagner, 83, of 27 Preston Drive, wife of the late Edwin S. Wagner, died on Thursday, Oct. 22, 1998, at Mid-State Medical Center.
Born in Meriden on May 29, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Anna (Murdock) Flynn. She was a lifelong resident of Meriden and was a graduate of Meriden High School and of the St. Joseph College business program. Mrs. Wagner was a parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Janet A. Wagner of Meriden; and by a sister, Elizabeth Black of Middletown.
The funeral will be held on Monday at 10:30 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., and at 11 a.m. in St. Rose of Lima Church. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to Mass. Contributions in her memory may be made to the St. Rose of Lima Church Restoration Fund, 35 Center St., Meriden, CT 06450, or to St. Jude Children's Hospital, Memorial/Honor Program, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101-9929.

Evelyn L. Ballough
HOLIDAY, Fla. — Evelyn L. Cassello Ballough, 82, of Holiday, Fla., formerly of North Cherry Street, Wallingford, Conn., died Saturday, Oct. 17, 1998, in Florida. She was the beloved wife of Albert E. Ballough.
Mrs. Ballough was born in Wallingford, Aug. 20, 1916, a daughter of the late Joseph and Genoeffa Macero Cassello, and had been a Wallingford resident for many years until moving to Florida 19 years ago. She had been a seamstress at the former Feldman Dress Co. in Wallingford for many years until her retirement.
Besides her husband, Albert, she is survived by her devoted family; her two daughters and her son-in-law, Genafa B. and Ernest J. Byar of Wallingford, and Barbara A. Ballough of Meriden; her son and daughter-in-law, James J. and Sandy Ballough of Wallingford; her 12 grandchildren, her great-granddaughter, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and her special cousin and friend, Minnie Rose of Holiday, Fla. She was predeceased by her sister, Fannie Cassello Wolf, and her two brothers, Michael Cassello and Frank Cassello.
Her family will receive relatives and friends at the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St. Ext., Wallingford, Sunday, Oct. 25, 1998, from 4 until 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday, Oct. 26, 1998, at 10 a.m. at the Wallingford Funeral Home. Interment will be in In Memoriam Cemetery. Gifts in her memory may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association, 2911 Dixwell Ave., Suite No. 104, Hamden, CT 06518.

Edmund Dara
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — Edmund (Red) Dara, 71, of Chattanooga, Tenn., formerly of Huber Avenue, Meriden, died Wednesday, Oct. 21, 1998, in Chattanooga. He was the husband of the late Theresa CoFrancesco Dara.
Born in Meriden, son of the late Rose and Joseph Dara Sr., served in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard in World War II. He and his late wife were barbers in Meriden prior to moving to Chattanooga.
He leaves a daughter, Linda Younquist and her husband, Kevin; a granddaughter, Teresa Younquist; two brothers, Edward Dara and Raymond Dara of Meriden; three sisters, Margaret Kulpa of Meriden, Florence Wells of Palm Bay, Fla., and Helen Marszalek of Middletown. He was predeceased by two brothers, Joseph Dara and Paul Dara.
Services were held at St. Jude's Church in Chattanooga.

Gertrude Greenwood
WALLINGFORD — Gertrude Hancock Greenwood, 86, of Swan Avenue, Yalesville section of Wallingford, died Friday, Oct. 23, 1998, in the Skyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Wallingford. She was the wife of the late Edwin J. Greenwood.
Born in Meriden, May 22, 1912, daughter of the late Frank and Maude Jessie Hancock, she was a lifelong Yalesville resident. She was a member of the Yalesville United Methodist Church. She had been employed by the former Backes Fireworks Co. and later had worked for Lyman Products until her retirement 20 years ago.
Mrs. Greenwood is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, James E. and Susan Greenwood; and her two grandsons, Steven Greenwood and Ryan Greenwood, all of Yalesville. She was predeceased by a brother, Frank Hancock.
Her family will receive relatives and friends in the Yalesville Funeral Home, 386 Main St., Yalesville section of Wallingford, Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 7 p.m. Interment will be private in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Meriden, Gifts in her memory may be sent to the Yalesville United Methodist Church, 8 New Place St., Yalesville, CT.

Kenneth W. Lamphier
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Kenneth W. Lamphier, 93, of St. Petersburg, Fla., formerly of Meriden, Conn., died Sept. 30, 1998, in Florida. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth Lyman Lamphier and the late Catherine Gustafson Lamphier.
Born in Bristol, Conn., July 31, 1905, son of the late Alle A. and Louise Case Lamphier, he had lived in Meriden and Sandusky, Ohio, before moving to Florida 22 years ago. He had been employed by the New Departure Division of General Motors for 29 years, having worked in Meriden, Bristol and Sandusky before his retirement several years ago.
Mr. Lamphier is survived by his son, Blair K. Lamphier of Treasure Island, Fla.; a brother, Harold Lamphier of Meriden; 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Joyce Lamphier Riiska, and four brothers, Frank Lamphier, Leland Lamphier, C. Sherman Lamphier, and Hubert Lamphier.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service Monday at 1 p.m. in the Yalesville Funeral Home, 386 Main St., Yalesville section of Wallingford. The Rev. Perry L. Beaver, pastor of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Meriden, will officiate. Interment will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.

Ethel F. McLaughlin
MERIDEN — Ethel F. "Toddy" McLaughlin, 84, wife of the late Henry M. McLaughlin, of 17 N. Second St., died Thursday, Oct. 22, 1998, in her home after a brief illness.
She was born July 16, 1914, in Meriden, a daughter of the late Umberto and Teresa Santolini Matteucci. She was a lifelong resident. Mrs. McLaughlin had worked closely with her husband in their plumbing business in Meriden until their retirement. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph Church. She was a member of the Meriden Council of Catholic Women.
She is survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law, retired Chief of Police Amos Matteucci and his wife, Adele V. Matteucci, of Meriden, and Dante V. and Elizabeth Matteucci of South Norwalk; three nieces, Gloria Femia Bruce and Theresa Femia, both of Bethesda, Md., and Barbara Childs of Virginia Beach, Va. She was predeceased by two sisters, Dina M. Femia and Enis Ryan.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather for her funeral services beginning at 9 a.m. Monday, Oct. 26, in the Smith-Ruzzo Funeral Home, 226 W. Main St., with her funeral liturgy at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Church. She will be interred with her husband in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Her family requests that expressions of sympathy and remembrance be made to the Hospice Community Services, 658 Broad St., Meriden, CT 06450.

James E. Paul Jr.
CHESHIRE — James E. Paul Jr., 90, of Woodpond Road, died Wednesday, Oct. 21, 1998, at Yale New Haven Hospital after a long illness. He was the husband of Eleanora (Tomasso) Paul.
Mr. Paul was born May 14, 1918, in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., son of the late John E. Paul Sr. and Adelaide Newman Paul. He was a mechanic for White Motors and International Motors of West Haven, a coach driver for Chieppo Bus Co. for several years and retired in 1978. Mr. Paul was also a former employee of the Knudsen Brothers Dairy and an avid dealer of antiques.
Besides his wife, he is survived by five sons, Ronald V. Paul of Wallingford, John E. Paul III and Richard P. Paul of Branford, David M. Paul of Hopkinton, Mass., and Kevin J. Paul of New York, N.Y.; two daughters, Doreen S. Paul of New Haven and Debra A. Palladino of Cheshire; and 12 grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Adelaide Sheeley.
The funeral will be held from Sisk Brothers Funeral Home, 3105 Whitney Ave., Hamden, Saturday at 8:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be held in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Hamden, at 9 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 2911 Dixwell Ave., Suite 104, Hamden, CT 06518.

Sebastiano D. Barillaro
MERIDEN — Sebastiano (Sibby) D. Barillaro, 64, of 116 Windsor Ave., passed away on Saturday, Oct. 24, 1998, at home.
Born in Meriden on May 17, 1934, he was the son of the late Matthew and Angelina Barillaro. Sibby and his brother operated the South Meriden Chevron, at the four corners.
Besides his wife, Margaret Tardif, he is survived by six children, Bruce and Sharon Spaulding of Maine, Tony and Barbara Spaulding, and Marge and Lee Cyphers, both of Meriden, Gail and Thomas Navin, Carol and Ken Grano, both of Wallingford, and Ann and Mike Pingle, of Michigan; three children from a previous marriage; four sisters and two brothers-in-laws, Rose and Joseph Waz, Carmela Barillaro, and Virginia and Harry Mudry, all of Meriden, and Ellen Pizitto, of Phoenix, Ariz.; 21 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Vincent Barillaro.
Friends and relatives may call on Monday, Oct. 26, 1998, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Szymaszek-Taylor Funeral Home, 189 East Main St., Meriden, CT. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 127 Washington Ave., North Haven, CT 06473.
