Joseph A McCabe
Joseph A McCabe, 81, of Brookfield, died January 9, after a long battle with cancer. He was the husband of Jean E. McCabe. He was born July 29, 1924 in Ireland, the son of the late Patrick and Elizabeth McCabe.
The family moved to Mount Kisco, N.Y., when he was 5 years old.
A World War II veteran, Mr. McCabe flew 30 combat missions over Germany, serving as a bombardier on a B-17 Flying Fortress. He was a member of the 305th Bomb Group, 366th Squadron of the Eighth Air Force. He achieved the rank of staff sergeant and was awarded the Air Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters.
A Brookfield resident for 35 years, he was the owner of McCabe Realty.
He was active throughout his life, even after his cancer diagnosis, and enjoyed skiing, camping, ocean sailing, walking and working on his home. He was a member of St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church.
In addition to his wife of 53 years, he is survived by nine children and their spouses: Sheila Goehrke of Armonk, N.Y.; Laurie Batchelor of Beltsville, Md.; Kerry McCabe of Oxford; Joseph S. McCabe of Bethel; Colleen Stryker of Monroe; Bonnie Novak of South Salem, N.Y.; Patrick McCabe of Boulder; Colo.; Glenn McCabe of Brookfield, and Daniel McCabe of New Milford; 11 grandchildren and two step-grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, James McCabe of Florida.
Mr. McCabe was predeceased by his brother, Patrick, and sister, Mary.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church, Brookfield, on Friday, January 13 at 10 a.m. Burial in St. Peter Cemetery to follow. The family will receive friends at the Brookfield Funeral Home, 786 Federal Road, Brookfield, on Thursday, January 12 between 5 and 8 p.m.

Glenn M. O'Leary
Glenn M. O'Leary, 80, went to be with the Lord Dec. 26, 2005 at his daughter's home in Connecticut, with his wife at his side. He was born May 21, 1925, the son of John and Isabelle (Jackson) O'Leary.
Glen served in the. U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the local VFW and a member and deacon of the St. John Bible Church. He worked many years as a local farmer, until he worked for Great Northern Paper C., Pinkham Lumber, and Woodlands Improvement/Irving Company, as a heavy machinery mechanic and maintenance/millwright. He was a hard worker, loving husband and father and very much loved by everyone who knew him and will be terribly missed.
He is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 55 years, Annie (Kelly) O'Leary; seven children whom he loved dearly; George O'Leary and friend, John, of Florida; Glenda (O'Leary) Jackson and husband, Sonny; Jeffrey O'Leary and wife, Donna; Brian O'Leary and friend, Lisa; Wade O'Leary and wife, Jenny, all of Connecticut, Rachel (O'Leary) Bouchard and husband, Mark; and Patty (O'Leary) DeBonis and husband, Billy, all of New York; 13 grandchildren, Deanna, Annika, Bobby, Misty, Amber, Jesse, Kassey, Chelsy, Jacob, Kevin, Taylor, Jenna and Austin; several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by three sisters and two brothers whom he also loved dearly: Patty (O'Leary) McBreairty and husband, Ward, Maggie (O'Leary) McBreairty, all of Connecticut, Maryanne (O'Leary) Jackson and husband, Roy, of Maine, Joseph O'Leary and Jimmy O'Leary and wife, Marilyn, all of New York. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Ella (O'Leary) Campbell; and a brother, David O'Leary.
Francis R. Goetz Jr.
Francis R. Goetz Jr., a longtime resident of Bethel, died January 7, 2006 at the Bethel Health Care Center. He was 69. Francis was born February 29, 1936 in Danbury, the son of the late Francis and Marie (Gallagher) Goetz. He attended Danbury schools, graduating in 1953, and he was the head custodian at the Berry School in Bethel.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Madeline Goetz of Bethel; one daughter, Cynthia Morosko of Shelton; three sons: Gregory Goetz of Brockton, Mass., Michael Goetz of Watertown, Mark Goetz of Brooklyn, Conn., and one stepson Steve Bell of Bethel; three brothers: Raymond Goetz of Fripp Island, S.C., Marcel Goetz of Wethersfield, Joseph Goetz of Danbury; one aunt, Emma Colley of Redding; also survived by eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial Mass will be held Saturday January 14, 2006, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Church in Bethel. The family request donations may be made to Regional Hospice of Western Connecticut, 405 Main Street, Danbury CT 06810.

Pauline Collins Doolan
Pauline Collins Doolan, age 88, widow of the late Walter J. Doolan, died on Friday January 13, 2006, in Danbury. She was married to Walter for 47 years until his death in 1983. Since 1941 they resided at 5 Cottage St. in Danbury.
Pauline was born November 30, 1917, in Brookfield. Pauline was home-birthed in the Collins family home on Whisconier Hill where her father was also born. Pauline went to grade school in a one-room schoolhouse in Brookfield. She graduated from Danbury High School in the class of 1934B. Pauline attended 28 Elderhostels, many of them with her late husband. Pauline enjoyed creating her many photo albums, researching the family genealogy, and writing letters and cards to her extended family and friends. Pauline was actively interested in her family and their activities. She loved family visits and attending the many gatherings and celebrations.
Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, William and Margaret (McNerney) Collins; and her sister, Dorothea Collins Evans.
Her seven children and their spouses are Roger and Marjorie Doolan, of Danbury; Ronald and Patricia Doolan, of Danbury; Charles and Rita (Doolan) Hungler, of Manchester, N.H.; Jerry and Regina (Doolan) Craven, of Chandler, Ariz.; Raymond and Nancy Doolan, of Windsor; Robert and Lily Doolan, of Woodside, N.Y.; John and Rena (Doolan) Kennedy, of Bethel.
Her eleven grandchildren and spouses are Jerry and Karen (Doolan) DelVecchio; Michele (Doolan) Conklin; Mark and Traci Doolan; Peter and MaryBeth (Doolan) Ferreira; Edward and Robin Hungler; Joseph Hungler; Steve and Cheryl (Craven) Powell; Casey Craven; Andy and Deborah (Doolan) Aniballi; Greg and Heather (Doolan) Scaffidi; Tracie Kennedy.
Her nine great-grandchildren are Jerry DelVecchio; Crystal, Courtney and Chelsea Conklin; Nichole and Patrick Doolan; Charles and Jane Hungler; Hannahlei Craven McSweeney.
Her nieces are Barbara Brady; Bonnie Evans; Jane DeWolf; Dorothy Leach Boyer; and nephew: Floyd Leach and his wife, Dolores.
Pauline was dearly loved by her family and will be greatly missed.
The calling hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, on Monday January 16, 2006.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Sacred Heart Church, 12 Cottage St., Danbury at 11 a.m. on Tuesday January 17, 2006. She will be buried in St. Peter's Cemetery.

Pat S. Napolitano Sr.
Pat S. Napolitano Sr., of Brewster, N.Y., passed away on January 10, 2006, at the age of 93.
Mr. Napolitano Sr. was employed by Con Edison for 48 years prior to his retirement. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was stationed in the Philippines and Korea.
Mr. Napolitano was born April 19, 1912, in Tarrytown, N.Y.
On July 31, 1939, he married his wife of 66 years, Gertrude Dresser, and they lived in White Plains, N.Y., for many years prior to moving to Brewster.
He loved to play golf and watch the golf matches.
Mr. Napolitano Sr. was a loving father and the grandfather of six. He is survived by his wife, Gertrude; his son, Pat Jr., and his wife, Carol, of Newtown; and his daughter, Mena, and her husband, Al DiLallo, of Brewster. His grandchildren are Deborah Napolitano and her husband, David McAdam, Keith Napolitano, Tim and Kelcy Napolitano, Christopher Farrington, Lisa and Scott Provino, and Tara and Rafael Rodriguez.
Calling hours are Thursday January 19, 2006, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Beecher Funeral Home in Brewster. The funeral service will be held on Friday January 20, 2006, at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, Patterson, N.Y.

Dorothy M. Fritz Sands
Dorothy M. Fritz Sands, a resident of Pomperaug Woods in Southbury since 1995 and former longtime resident of Beacon, N.Y., died Friday January 13, 2006, at Bethel Health Care Center, Bethel. She was 100.
Born in Groton, N.Y., on June 6, 1905, she was the daughter of Asa and Ruth Clark Hyde. She was married to Andrew M. Fritz, who preceded her in death in October 1967, and then to Joseph P. Sands, who also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Sands was an elementary school teacher in the Beacon City School District, retiring in 1966. She was a longtime member of Melzingah Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, Beacon.
She is survived by her daughter, Ann Kirk, Newtown; grandsons, Jeffrey Kirk, Newtown, and Michael Kirk and his wife, Tracy, Southbury; granddaughter, Kimberly Gardner, and her husband, William, Brookfield; and three great-grandchildren, Maegan, Kirk, and Lauren Gardner, Brookfield.
The family will receive their friends 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday January 17, 2006, at Halvey Funeral Home Inc., 24 Willow St., Beacon. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. at St. John's, 35 Willow St., Beacon. Interment will follow in St. Joachim's Cemetery, 303 Washington Ave., Beacon.

Warren D. Beach
Warren D. Beach of Danbury, devoted husband of Helen (Holzwarth) Beach, passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 5, 2006, of natural causes. He was born in Bethel on October 4, 1915, son of the late George W. and Viola (Barton) Beach.
Mr. Beach retired as a tool room supervisor from Capitol Machine and Tool Co. in Danbury after 35 years of employment.
He was dedicated member of the Free Masons and Union Lodge 40, A.F. & A.M. and received his 50-year membership mason certificate in 1993. He was also a proud and faithful member of the Pyramid Shriners and was active in many of their events. He was always very appreciative of his lodge brothers for their friendships.
In addition to his cherished wife of 63 years, Helen, he will be sadly missed by his sons, Richard D. Beach and his wife, Gina of Windsor, and David W. Beach of New Fairfield. He is also survived by his sister, Christine Taylor of Danbury.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Edward, Howard and Charles Beach.
Funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. The Cornell Memorial Home is in charge of arrangements.

Maria Vasaturo
Maria Carmella Theresa (DeVito) Vasaturo, 88, of New Fairfield, wife of the late Joseph J. Vasaturo Sr., died at Danbury Hospital on Wednesday, February 8, 2006. She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on August 29, 1917, daughter of the late Philip and Pasquelina (Strazza) DeVito.
Prior to making her home in New Fairfield, Mrs. Vasaturo made her home in Brookfield for more than 50 years. She worked as a housekeeper for the Diocese of Bridgeport at St. Joseph Rectory in Brookfield.
Mrs. Vasaturo was a member of AARP, the St. Joseph Minstrels, and the Brookfield Playhouse. She was very active in the Brookfield Community, the Connecticut Grange, and the Vespucci and Moose Lodges in Danbury.
She is survived by her two sons, Joseph J. Vasaturo Jr. and his wife, Sue of Danbury, Andrew M. Vasaturo and his wife, Diane of Brookfield; her three daughters, Ann Marie Chauvin and her husband Pete of New Milford, Patricia McGee of Florida, and Mari Ann Lasky of New Milford; her daughter-in-law, Nancy Vasaturo of Brookfield. She is also survived by twenty-five grandchildren; forty-one great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, husband, and siblings, she was predeceased by her son, Michael Vasaturo.
Funeral Services will be held at the First Assembly of God in Brookfield on Friday, February 10, 2006 at 6 p.m. Cremation will take place at the direction of the family.

Frank C. Santos Sr.
Frank C. Santos Sr., 92, of Tori Lane, Brookfield, formerly of Danbury, devoted husband of Susan (Villane) Santos, passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2006. He was born in Taunton, Mass., on December 3, 1913, son of the late Antone and Margaret (Correia) Santos.
Mr. Santos was a veteran of World War II, serving with the United States Navy. He worked in the mill room for Columbia Magnetic. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus McGivney Counsel, the American Legion, and was an honorable member of the Portuguese Club in Danbury. He enjoyed gardening, making wine, and loved his animals.
In addition to his beloved wife of 57 years, Susan, he is survived by his cherished daughter, Margaret Santos Arnold, with whom he made his home; his sister, Margaret Moniz of Southbury; his three grandchildren, Keith, Kyle and Kiana. He is also survived by his three godchildren, Patricia Andrews, Hilda Henriques, and Marie Hall; as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his two sons, Frank Santos Jr. and Anthony Santos; and his godson, Alvaro A. Moniz Jr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Peter Church, Danbury, on Saturday, February 11, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. Burial in St. Peter Cemetery will follow.

Edward J. Christensen
Edward J. Christensen, 90, of Eastchester, N.Y., died on February 7, 2006, at the Pope John Paul II Health Care Facility in Danbury. He was the son of Edwin and Thekla Keller Christensen. Edward was the beloved husband of the late Helen Hope who died on October 31, 1996. They were married on July 6, 1938.
Loving father of Edwin and his wife Susan of Milan, N.Y., John (Retired YFD) and his wife Mary of North Myrtle Beach, S.C., Harold and his wife Wendi of Bethel, and the late Robert. He was predeceased by his brothers, Donald and John. Cherished grandfather of 16 and great-grandfather of 13.
Edward attended Saunders Trade High School in Yonkers, N.Y. He served in the U.S. Army During World War II. He worked as a painter for Local 187 Painters Union in Westchester County.
Visitation will be at the WESTCHESTER FUNERAL HOME, Inc., Eastchester, Thursday February 9, 2006 from 5-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial Friday February 10, 2006 at the Immaculate Conception Church, Tuckahoe, N.Y. at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery.

Edith Mary McAuliffe
Edith Mary McAuliffe, 76, formerly of Danbury, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, February 3, 2006, with her eight children by her side.
She was born in Stamford on August 17, 1929 to Louis and Helen Charbin.
Edith married the love of her life, John James McAuliffe on February 3, 1951. They enjoyed 14 wonderful years together until his sudden death in 1965.
Edith worked hard to keep her large family together and succeeded. She had a long and rewarding career in nursing. She received many commendations and personal letters thanking her for her kind and gentle care. Edith volunteered for the American Red Cross and the Foster grandparent's program in Maine. Edith loved to read, knit, embroider, and crafts. She enjoyed traveling with her good friends to various destinations. Her parents and her husband preceded Edith in death.
She is survived by a son, Louis McAuliffe of Saco, Maine; seven daughters, Maureen Coelho of Naugatuck, Kathleen (K.C. Morrell) of Saco, Maine, Patricia Hall of Washington Depot, Conn., Colleen VanClief of Saco, Maine, Jacqueline McAuliffe of Cape Elizabeth, Maine, Helen Corriveau of Lyman, Maine, and Roberta "Sam" Kane of Saco, Maine; a sister, Florence Backus of Cape Coral, Fla.; 18 very special grandchildren; a sweet great-grandson; and her niece and her nephew.
A celebration of Edith's life will be held at Most Holy Trinity Church in Saco, Maine on Friday, Feb. 10 at 9 a.m.
