Jason Eric Bresmon

April 20, 1979 - July 16, 2004

Jason Eric Bresmon of Ball Pond Road, New Fairfield, died as the result of a motorcycle accident on Friday, July 16th at the age of 25. He was born in Danbury on April 20, 1979, son of Eric Bresmon of Mount Kisco, NY., and Erica Bessel of New Fairfield. He was a graduate of Henry Abbott Technical School, Class of 1998 and worked as a machinist for Barden Corporation.

Jason was a loving son who loved being with his family. He was a beloved friend who was admired by many. He enjoyed mountain biking, ATV’s and motor cross sports. He could often be found rebuilding his 1980’s Chevy Truck.

Besides his mother and father, he will be sadly missed by his sisters, Kristin and Jessica Bresmon of New Fairfield; his grandmothers, Norma Bessel of New Fairfield, and Alice Panteli of Maryland. He is also survived by aunts and uncles, Diane and Tom Dube, Kathryn and Ron Moore, all of New Fairfield, John and Tina Bresmon of Bethel, and Sharon Bresmon of Florida; as well as numerous cousins and his longtime girlfriend, Lenore Maskara of New Fairfield.

Through his death he now joins his grandfathers; Eric Bessel and James Bresmon; and his aunt, Lorena King.

Funeral Information

Funeral Services will be held at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Tuesday, July 20th at 10:00am with Reverend Dr. Roland Klauck of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd of New Fairfield officiating. Burial will follow in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Danbury.

The Family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home on Monday, July 19th between the hours of 4 and 7pm.

Thomas J. Gallagan

May 21, 1929 - July 10, 2006

Thomas J. Gallagan, 77, of Brookfield, husband of 55 years to Patricia (Dignam) Gallagan, died at Lowell General Hospital in Lowell, MA., on Monday, July 10th. He was born in Tarrytown, New York on May 21, 1929, son of the late Thomas A. and Virginia (Bell) Gallagan.

Mr. Gallagan was a Veteran of the Korean War, serving with the United States Navy. He worked as an electrical engineer for Dorr Oliver in Shelton. Upon retirement he worked in customer service for Union Savings Bank in Brookfield. He was a parishioner of St. Joseph Church, Brookfield and was very active in the Brookfield community.

His greatest joy came from spending time with his family and attending the activities of his eight cherished grandchildren.

In addition to his wife Patricia, he is survived by his two sons, Stephen T. Gallagan and his wife, Marilyn of Westford, MA., and Brian Gallagan and his wife, Sheryl of Manchester, NH.; his daughter, Carol Egan and her husband, Gerard of Brookfield; his eight grandchildren, Erin, Ryan, Megan, and Michael Gallagan, Patrick Egan, James Egan and his wife, Kristin, Katherine, and Molly Egan. He is also survived by his brothers, Richard and Roger Gallagan.

Funeral Information

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 14th at 9:30am at St. Joseph Church, Brookfield. Cremation will take place at the direction of the family.

The family will receive friends at the Brookfield Funeral Home, 786 Federal Road, Brookfield, on Thursday, July 13th between the hours of 2:00 – 4:00pm and 6:00 – 8:00pm.

Wayne K. Waterbury

May 28, 1956 - July 07, 2006

Wayne K. Waterbury, 50, of Middle River Road, Danbury, died at Danbury Hospital on Friday, July 7th. He was born on May 28, 1956, son of Dorothy (Budd) Waterbury and the late Frank Waterbury.

Wayne served with the United States Marines during peacetime. He worked as a self employed landscaper.

In addition to his mother, Dorothy, he is survived by his two brothers, Frank Waterbury, Jr. of Danbury, and Gerald Waterbury of New Fairfield; and his sister, Betty Walker of Danbury. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Information

Funeral Services will be held at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Monday, July 17th at 7:00pm. Cremation will take place at the direction of the family.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home at 6:00pm on Monday.

Paul Daniel Burdick

February 08, 1929 - August 01, 2006

Paul D. Burdick, 77, of Laurel Hill Road, Brookfield, husband of the late Louise Dickey-Burdick, died at Danbury Hospital on Tuesday, August 1st. He was born in Brookfield on February 8, 1929, son of the late Paul D., Sr. and May (Ostrander) Burdick. He was a lifetime member of the Brookfield Community.

Mr. Burdick worked as a heavy equipment operator for Union Metallic of Danbury. He enjoyed farm life and keeping cows. He continued to work on the farm until four years ago.

He was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Brookfield.

He is survived by his four children, Paula, Karen, Glenn and Kim; many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Keith Burdick and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Information

There will be no formal funeral services or calling hours. The Brookfield Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Jane L. Neilson

May 04, 1924 - August 05, 2006

Jane L. Neilson, 82, of Providence, Florida, wife of Donald J. Neilson, Sr., died at her home on Saturday, August 5th after an extended illness. She was born in Danbury on May 4, 1924, daughter of the late Walter & Mary (Jeduzel) Jesionowski.

Mrs. Neilson was a homemaker. She enjoyed raising mules, picking pecans in the fall and adored her Boston Terrier, “Daisy.”

In addition to her husband of 58 years, Donald, she is survived by her son, Donald J. Neilson, Jr. of Providence, Fla; her four daughters, Susan S. Lapan of Ellisville, Fla, Annie M. Pinder of Providence Fla., Donna J. Holmes of Lake City, Fla, and Dawn J. Barlow of Providence, Fla. She is also survived by her brother, John Januski of Danbury; her two sisters, Nellie Krisco and Florence Wirag, both of Danbury. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren and one great grandson.

Funeral Information

Funeral Services will be held at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Friday, August 11th at 12:00pm. Burial in St. Peter Cemetery will follow.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday morning between the hours of 11:00 am and 12:00pm.

Stanley R. Gurski

April 08, 1917 - August 08, 2006

Stanley R. Gurski, 89, son of the late Frank, Sr. and Eva (Staszowski) Gurski, died Tuesday, August 8th in Danbury Hospital. He was the husband of the late Marjorie (Rydell) Gurski.

He was born April 8, 1917 in Brookfield, where he was a resident most of his life. He attended school at the one room school house, Center School in Brookfield and graduated from Henry Abbot Technical School. He moved to the Bishop Curtis Home in Bethel two years ago, and in 2005 to The Gardens, an assisted living complex in Danbury.

He is survived by a daughter, Janice Howard of Brookfield; three grandchildren, Pamela (Howard) Gardner and her husband, Michael of Garner, NC.; Doreen (Howard) McManus and her husband Timothy, of Danbury; and Vernon Howard of Brookfield; four great grandchildren, Jonathan, James, Shawn, and Ethan of Garner, NC.; one nephew, Frank Gurski and his wife, Lynn of Washington, CT; two nieces, Helen Lacagnina and her husband, Sal of Florida and Carol Gurski, wife of his nephew, the late Harry Gurski, Jr.; a great nephew, David Gurski and his wife, MaryEllen of New Milford and a great niece, Lynne (Gurski) Zukowsky of Texas; and long-time friend, Myla Magee of Bethel; as well as several cousins.

In addition to his parents and nephew, he was predeceased by two brothers, Harry and Frank Gurski, and a sister, Helen Gurski.

He worked as a boy on the family owned dairy farm on Obtuse Hill Road and officially took over its management from 1943 until 1968, when 80 acres of the farm were sold to the town of Brookfield for open space. Four years ago the remaining acres and farm buildings were also sold to the town.

His family purchased the dairy farm from Henry Foote in 1918. Through the years, the family also grew oats, wheat, vegetables, and tobacco as well as hay for livestock.

In 1968, Mr. Gurski began working for the Brookfield School System, from which he retired in 1982. As a member of the system’s maintenance and grounds crew, he was one of four people who repaired boilers and audiovisual equipment, and kept the school grounds trimmed and the roads and drives clear on snowy days. He worked part-time for the school system until 2002, when he entered fulltime retirement.

He liked to bowl and won numerous trophies in men’s leagues and in couple’s leagues with his wife, Marjorie. He scored several 700 series. He also loved fishing on Lake Candlewood, restaurant dining, photography, traveling, and vegetable gardening. He rode motorcycles until the 1970’s.

In 1937, he took flying lessons at Danbury Airport, and earned his flying license in 1938. He flew Pipers and Cessnas, but gave it up in 1977 because, he said, the sky was too crowded. He often recalled that when Brookfield was still mostly farmland, he could buzz the treetops or land in a convenient field if the plane malfunctioned.

During World War II, as a member of the local Civil Air Patrol, he flew the Connecticut coastline to monitor the area for signs of enemy subMarines.

Funeral Information

Funeral Services will be held at the Brookfield Funeral Home on Saturday, August 12th at 10:30am. Cremation and interment in St. Francis Cemetery will take place at a later date.

The family will receive friends at the Brookfield Funeral Home on Friday, August 11th between the hours of 5:00 and 8:00pm.

Thomas G. Russell Sr.

August 08, 1924 - August 13, 2006

Thomas G. Russell, Sr., died at Bethel Health Care Center on Monday, August 13, 2006, at the age of 82. He was the husband of Rosemary (Lerose) Russell. Mr. Russell was born in Bridgeport, Ct on August 8, 1924. He was the son of the late Howard C. and Gertrude (Litchenberg) Russell.

A proud Navy veteran of WWII, he received Battle Stars for service aboard the U.S.S. Ingrahm, serving at the battles of Leyte Gulf, the liberation of the Philippines, Iwo Jima, and Okinawa. Mr. Russell retired from Barden Corp. as a supervisor of material and inventory control after 38 years. He was a member of St. Josephs R.C. Church in Brookfield and served in the Boy Scouts, Sea Scouts, and the Explorer Scouts, as well as coaching Little League in Bethel, Ct. He loved golf, and enjoyed fishing and boating.

Besides his loving wife of 24 years, he is survived by his 3 sons; Thomas Jr. and his wife Karen, of Brookfield, Dean and his wife, Penny, of Canbury, N.J., and Todd and his wife Missy, of Danbury. His daughter, Kathy Barrett and her husband Ted, of Starksborough, Vt. 14 Grandchildren and 1 Great-Grandchild. 2 Step-Sons; Robert Krebs and his wife Susan, of Walkill, N.Y., and Vincent Krebs, of Brookfield. His brother, William Russell and his wife Irene, of Bridgeport. 2 Sisters; Gertrude Haviland, of Kansas, and Patricia Russell, of Bridgeport. He was pre-deceased by his Step-Daughter, Susan Krebs-Reese, and siblings, Lawrence, John, Howard, and Irene.

Funeral Information

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 16, 2006, at 11:00 am, at St, Josephs R.C. Church, in Brookfield. Cremation will take place at the convenience of the family, with burial of cremains in Arlington National Cemetery, with full military honors.

Friends may call at St. Josephs Church at the time of service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St Josephs Church, Rte 133, Brookfield, Ct 06804.

Jacob Steven Larkin

August 08, 1975 - October 02, 2006

Jacob Steven Larkin, 31, of Belmont Lane, Danbury, beloved son of Judy (Zoltowsky) Holt of Bethel, died at Danbury Hospital on Monday, October 2nd. He was born in Huntington, NY on August 8, 1975. He was a graduate of Bethel High School, Class of 1994.

Jacob was self employed in construction and enjoyed being an amateur auto mechanic. He was a devoted father and family man.

In addition to his mother, Judy, he is survived by his cherished son, Evan Robert Larkin of Danbury; his stepfather, Leslie Holt of Danbury; his brother, Benjamin Larkin and his wife, Elizabeth of Bethel; his sister, Sarah Rapport and her husband Joshua of Forest Grove, Oregon; and his stepsister, Rebecca Holt of Windsor. He is also survived by his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Alex Zoltowsky of Boynton Beach, Fla; his paternal grandmother, Arlene Holt of Danbury; his niece, Mira Lee Larkin; as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral Information

Funeral Services will be held at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Friday, October 6th at 10:30am, with Rev. Ivan Pitts of New Hope Baptist Church, officiating. Burial in Elmwood Cemetery will follow.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, October 5th between the hours of 5 and 8pm.
