Frances G. Blakeslee, 91, formerly of 321 Eastern St., New Haven, passed away Oct. 31, 2007, in Harborside Arden House, Hamden. She was the widow of Allen C. Blakeslee. Born in New Haven July 10, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Walter & Lillian Githens. She worked as a housekeeper at Yale New Haven Hospital for 10 years prior to retirement. She is survived by 3 sons, Allen (Pauline) Blakeslee & Frederick Blakeslee, both of Wallingford and Russell (Phyllis) Blakeslee of West Haven; a brother, Harry Githens of Venice, FL.; 12 grandchildren & 26 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Richard Blakeslee; a brother, Walter Githens and 3 sisters, Lorraine Standish, Dorothy Meeney & Helen Githens.
Friends may call at The Celentano Funeral Home, 424 Elm St. (cor. Dwight) New Haven Sunday Nov. 4th from 4 to 8 PM and are invited to attend Funeral Services in the funeral home Monday at 11:00 AM. Interment in Beaverdale Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

ZAZZARINO, CARLO
September 13, 2007
Carlo Zazzarino, 63, of 242 Second Ave., West Haven ascended to peace on Sept. 13, 2007 in The CT. Hospice, Branford with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband for 35 years of Linda Meneo Zazzarino. Mr. Zazzarino was born in Alife, Italy Feb. 15, 1944, son of Mrs. Marianna Capasso Zazzarino of West Haven and the late Pietro Zazzarino. He came to this country in 1958. His profession was in electronics and T.V. repair, but his talents ranged from everything to anything. There was nothing he couldn’t or wouldn’t do. He was extremely proud to be an Italian and always celebrated his heritage and culture and enjoyed visiting his respected home town of Alife in Caserta. He had a deep passion for music, especially Italian, was a musician, singer and guitarist and loved to play anywhere, anytime, whether among friends and family or at festivals. His musical gifts were bestowed upon his sons and daughter, which always made him extremely proud. He was a man of great pride and respect; kind hearted who deserved the world and more and all he ever wanted was to be sure that everyone he loved had just that. He is and forever will be deeply loved and missed more than words could ever express. He will be deeply missed by his 5 grandchildren who gave him nothing but joy; they were the true love of his life. Carlo was a loving, genuinely sincere and caring man, who loved nothing more than his family. May he rest in peace with our Savior, Jesus Christ and know how loved and remembered he will always be. Besides his wife, he is survived by sons, Alessio Carlo Zazzarino of Milford, Nino F. Zazzarino of West Haven & David Feducia in FL.; his daughters, Angela Izzo & Nina Zazzarino, both of West Haven; a sister, Lisa Valentino of West Haven; and 5 grandchildren, Anthony & Nino Zazzarino Jr.. David Feducia Jr., Valentina & Rocco Izzo. He was predeceased by a sister, Cecelia Zazzarino. Friends and relatives are invited to attend a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at St. Michael’s Church, 29 Wooster Place, Friday morning Sept. 21 at 10:30. Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum at Beaverdale, Fitch St., New Haven. The family will receive guests who wish to pay their respects at Carlo’s home, 242 Second Ave. West Haven Friday beginning at 3:00 PM

BILIDES, GORDON
September 13, 2007
Gordon Bilides, 80, of 46 Hampshire Drive, Hamden, passed away Sept. 13, 2007 in St. Raphael’s Hospital. He was the husband of Florence DeVivo Bilides. Mr. Balides was born in New Haven Sept. 1, 1927, son of the late Michael & Domna Bilides. He waa a graduate of Hillhouse High School and Yale University. He worked as a civil engineer and land surveyor for Blair Associates for 13 years before establishing his own business in 1963. After World War II, he served with the US Army of Occupation in Japan. He was a member of Chapter 98, Order of AHEPA. Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, David (Sandra Dean) Bilides of Seattle, WA.; a daughter, Sophia (Tom Babbin) Bilides of Natick, MA.; 2 sisters, Elizabeth Cargos & Despina (Michael) Doty, both of Lakeland, FL. He was predeceased by a brother, Philip Bilides.

SIMJIAN, KATHERINE I.
September 12, 2007
Katherine I. Simjian, 99, formerly of 46 Atwater St., New Haven, passed away peacefully at Branford Hills Health Care Sept, 12, 2007. She was the widow of Nazar Simjian. Born in New Haven Nov. 19, 1907, she was the daughter of the late Frank & Mary Fallon Bohan. Prior to retirement, she worked as a book keeper in her husband’s rug business, Simjian Rugs.
Friends are invited to attend a graveside service in St. Lawrence Cemetery, Friday, Sept. 14th at 10:00 AM.

CORRARO, PAULA M.
September 8, 2007
Paula M. Gaudio Corraro, 83, of 105 Main St., West Haven, passed away peacefully at home. Born in New Haven May 21, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Oscar J. & Amelia Colella Gaudio. She was predeceased by a brother, Michael Gaudio and 2 sisters, Helen Casale & Joan Corraro. Services and interment in Beaverdale were private.

PALMESE, MARGARET
September 6, 2007
Margaret “Peggy” Palmese, 93, of West Rock Ave., New Haven, passed away peacefully at St. Regis/Grimes Health Care Center Sept. 6, 2007. Born in Hamden March 16, 1914, she was the daughter of the late John & Antonetta DePalma Palmese. She was employed as a machine operator at Echlin Mfg. Co. until retirement. Prior to that, she worked at A.C. Gilbert Co. She is survived by nieces, Antoinette Palmese of New Haven, with whom she resided and Patricia Corrone of Branford; nephews, John (Sandra) Grace of Orange and Louis Palmese of East Haven. She was predeceased by brothers, Frank, Louis & Pasquale Palmese; sisters, Concetta Grace & Rose M. Palmese; and a nephew, John Palmese.

CARTA, JOSEPH
August 30, 2007
Joseph Michael Carta, 63, of 12 Forest Ave., North Haven, passed away Aug. 30, 2007 in St. Raphael’s Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Patricia Cavuoti Workman Carta. Mr. Carta was born in Middletown on July 9, 1944, son of the late Joseph and Concetina Adorno Carta. He worked as a conductor for Metro North Commuter Railroad for 35 years prior to retirement in 2004. He was a member of ACRE Local No. 1. After retirement, he worked with his son in law and grandson in their maple syrup business in Guilford. He enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, working in the garden, playing with his grandchildren and fishing for crabs. Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Eric Carta of Middletown; 3 daughters, Candace Chapman of Milford, Tracy Thurston of Greenwich, N.Y. & Kimberly Hall of Guilford; a brother, Louis Carta of Wallingford; a sister, Elaine Carta of Middletown; 4 grandchildren, Michael & Matthew Hall, Karlee Chapman & Joseph Thurston; an aunt, an uncle, several nieces, nephews & cousins.

ROBINSON, DEIDRE LEE
August 25, 2007
Deidre Lee Robinson, 55, of 496 Elm St., New Haven, passed away suddenly Aug. 25, 2007. Born in New Haven June 19, 1952, she was the beloved daughter of Gertrude Dortch Robinson of New Haven and the late Henry Robinson Sr. She attended Gallaudet College in Washington, D.C. and also attended college in New York City, pursuing studies and training as a sign language interpreter. She worked as a sign language interpreter for the State of Connecticut, the City of Shelton and for Marrakech, Inc. Deidre was always the life of the party and was known for her contagious laugh. Besides her mother, she is survived by a sister, Lois A. Robinson of New Haven; four nieces, Virginia, Sheeva & Stacey Williams and Bryonna Pinero; a nephew, Alexander Pinero; her dear family friend, Ernestine Fisher of New Haven, whom she considered a sister; as well as several grand nieces & nephews, relatives and friends. She was predeceased by a brother, Henry Robinson Jr. and a sister, Rebecca Williams.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend a memorial service at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 885 Wintergreen Ave., Hamden Saturday, Sept. 1 at 2:00 PM.

HARRIS, HELEN CONTE
August 22, 2007
Helen Conte Harris, 92, of 173 Alps Road, Branford, passed away peacefully at home Aug. 22, 2007. She was the beloved wife of Howell Harris. Mrs. Harris was born in New Haven Oct. 6, 1914, daughter of the late Giovanni & Catherine Spina Conte. Besides her husband, she is survived by 2 daughters, Mary (Walter) Rice, Ph.D. of Shrewsbury, MA. & Judith (Robert) Edsall of Kansas City, MO.; and 2 grandchildren, Elizabeth Harris Rice of Bloomfield, N.J. & Walter Paul Rice of Hadley, MA. She was predeceased by 5 brothers, Dr. Mario G. Conte, Salvatore, Frank, Vincent (Charles) & Albert Conte; and 4 sisters, Elizabeth DePhillips, Vera DeTullio, Angela (Julia) Pecoraro & Clara A. Miranda. She is also survived by several loving caregivers including Lillian Geraci & Mariana Barber.

CUSANO, ERNEST
August 21, 2007
Ernest Cusano, 91, formerly of 65 Messina Drive, East Haven, passed away Aug. 21, 2007 in Newington Health Care. He was the beloved husband of the late Anne Cappiello Cusano. Mr. Cusano was born in New Haven June 7, 1916, son of the late John & Frances Fusco Cusano. He worked as an audit clerk for the former Union Trust Co. prior to his retirement. During World War II, he served as a sergeant with the US Army forces in the European War Theater. He is survived by a son, Ernest John (Susan) Cusano of East Haven; a brother, Henry (Agnes) Cusano of East Haven; and 2 grandchildren, Melissa & Ernest “E.J.” Cusano. He was predeceased by 2 brothers, Angelo & Dominic (Tommy) Cusano and 4 sisters, Louise Cottiero, Julia (Angelina) Vitolo, Elizabeth Baldo & Mary Catherine O’Connor.

Marie Cioffi Caruso, 75, of 21 Merritt Ave., Woodbridge, died peacefully at home Aug. 15, 2007. She was the wife of Joseph Caruso Sr. Mrs. Caruso, daughter of the late Joseph “Little Joe” and Louise Civitello Cioffi, was born in New Haven Dec. 7, 1932. She worked for many years as office manager of Caruso’s Auto Service on Goffe St., New Haven. Beside her husband, she is survived by 2 sons, Joseph (Hazel) Caruso Jr. of New Haven and Frank (Linda) Caruso of Bethany; a daughter, Cindy Laudano of North Haven; a sister, Phyllis (Joseph) Giardina of Woodbridge and 4 grandchildren, Lindsey, Frankie, Stephanie & Christopher.
Friends & relatives are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Assumption Church, 81 Center Road, Woodbridge Saturday morning at 11:00. Interment in St. Lawrence Cemetery. FISKIO, PETER W.
August 13, 2007
Peter William Fiskio Jr., 74, of Guilford, passed away peacefully Aug. 13, 2007 in CT Hospice, Branford. He was the beloved husband of Anita Rintoul Fiskio. Mr. Fiskio was born in New Haven Dec. 30, 1932, son of the late Dr. Peter W. and Rose Esposito Fiskio. He attended Hamden Hall Country Day School and graduated from Oberlin College in Ohio. He served as an officer in the US Navy for 6 years, stationed in Hawaii & Guam. Most recently, he was Vice President/Investments for the New Haven office of Janney Montgomery Scott. Beside his wife, he is survived by 3 sons, Peter W. (Nancy) Fiskio III of Tampa, FL., Mark H. (Gail) Fiskio Sr. of Wellesley, MA. & Steven M. (Julie) Fiskio of Dusbury, MA.; a daughter, Lisa M. Fiskio of Cambridge, MA.; 2 stepsons, Robert Rintoul of Guilford & Christopher Rintoul of Petaluma, CA.; a sister, Lenore A. Fiskio of Branford & Naples, FL.; and a brother, Dr. H. Michael (Virginia) Fiskio of Bridport, VT. He is also survived by his 5 beloved grandchildren, Mark H. Fiskio Jr., John P. (Jack), Emilie, Emma & Elliana Fiskio; nieces, Carol Fiskio & Janet Fiskio-Lasseter; and nephew, John Fiskio.
