In Branford, Tues., Dec. 7, 2004, John R. Balboni, 75, of New Haven died after a long illness.
He was the son of the late John and Adel Balboni.
Mr. Balboni leaves sons, John Arthur Balboni, Jr. and John R. Balboni, his beloved companion Mary DellaCamera of New Haven, a daughter, Mrs. Joanne Baillargeon and her husband Dean in New Hampshire, a sister, Mrs. Leetina Piper in Virginia and a niece, Dede Gurana of Guilford.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Mrs. Adel Balboni Lacy and 3 brothers, Victor, Joseph and Anthony Balboni.
He was a truck driver and a member of the 443 Truck Driver's Union.
Funeral service at BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden, Mon., Dec. 13 at 2 p.m.
Burial will be in Hamden Plains Cemetery.

Joseph E. Blasius, Sr.
June 27, 1921 - December 28, 2004

Hamden - Joseph E. Blasius, Sr., 83, of 49 Howard Dr. passed away surrounded by his devoted family after an extended illness on December 28, 2004.
Joseph was born June 27, 1921 to Joseph and Amanda Kinney Blasius.
He was raised in New Haven where he met his childhood sweetheart and wife of 56 years, Geraldine Hickey Blasius.
Joseph spent his early years in the US Navy during WW II.
Joseph was a tool and die maker by trade, owning and operating several businesses in the field throughout his career.
He retired from Durol Company in 1986.
Joseph is attributed with the development of numerous metal working processes and products.
Innovation was the key to Joseph, he possessed an innate ability to make, fix, or do anything.
Anyone who knew him appreciated this as his strongest trait.
Joseph also possessed a generous and loving heart which meant he was always willing to lend his talent to anyone in need.
He will truly be missed by all those whose lives he touched.
Joseph was the proud father of six children: Joan Longley of Hamden, Jeraldine Wortman of Southbury, Joseph Blasius of Ferrisburg, VT, John Blasius of Putnam, Jean Nizen of Westbrook and Janet Blasius of Beverly Hills, CA.
Joseph is also survived by his 15 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Joseph leaves behind 2 brothers: Raymond Blasius of Brooksville, FL and William Blasius of Stauton, VA and 3 sisters: Elizabeth Thompson of Port Charles, FL, Bertha Clouse of Clearwater, FL, and Marguerite Schneider of Palm Harbor, FL.
His brother George Blasius predeceased him along with Virginia Shea, longtime friend.
Funeral service Friday, December 31 at 10 AM at BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery.

Helen F. Bentley

Helen F. Bentley, 91, passed away at the Masonic Healthcare Center in Wallingford on Sat., Jan. 8, 2005.
She was the devoted wife of the late Watson Bentley.
Born April 13, 1913 in New Haven, a daughter of the late Valentin and Wilhelmine Konig Munck.
She lived and raised her family in New Haven and Foxon.
She was a creative homemaker, cook and seamstress who loved to play piano, sketch, travel to her favorite Cape Cod, do crossword puzzles and scrabble.
She was a lifetime member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church and Harugari Singing Society and was active in the East Haven Senior Center.
Mother of Susan and her husband, Peter Naumann of Wallingford and Carolyn and her husband, Gary Hebert of Stafford Springs, grandmother of Kenneth Sgro, Daniel and Pam Sgro, Jonathan and Gwen Sgro, Christopher and Sandra Naumann and Laurel and Michael Byrne and great-grandmother of Braeden, Mikaela and Juliet.
She was predeceased by several brothers and sisters.
Funeral service Friday, Jan. 14 at 11:00 a.m. at the Beecher & Bennett, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden.
Burial in Beaverdale Memorial Park.
Relatives and friends may call Thursday, 3 - 6 p.m.

Helen M. Andrews

Helen M. Andrews, 91, of 139 South St., West Haven passed away Friday, Jan. 21, 2005 at her home.
She was the wife of the late Otto H. Andrews.
She was born in New Haven, Oct. 6, 1913 and was a resident of West Haven for the past 52 years.
Mrs. Andrews was a member of Our Lady of Victory Church, West Haven and was Past President of Arbeiter Maenner Choir of West Haven and a life member.
She is survived by her son, Dennis M. Andrews of West Haven.
Funeral service Wed., Jan. 26, 2005 at 1 p.m. at BEECHER & BENNETT TAYLOR FUNERAL HOME, 410 Campbell Ave., West Haven.
Interment in Oak Grove Cemetery, West Haven.
Friends may call Tues. from 4 - 8 p.m.

Helen Bagley Anderson

In New Haven, April 15, 2005, Helen Bagley Anderson, 100, of 28 Applewood Dr., Cheshire, formerly of Circular Ave., Hamden, wife of the late Raymond H. Anderson. She was born in Shelton, CT, Feb. 27, 1905 a daughter of the late Carter and Annie Kaster Bagley and was a graduate of Stone College.
She had been a member of Whitney Christian Life Center Church.
On Helen's 100th birthday, Feb. 27, 2005, Gov. M. Jodi Rell proclaimed it to be Helen Bagley Anderson Day.
The CT General Assembly gave her an official citation and the City of Shelton, her birthplace, also gave her a special proclamation.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law with whom she resided, Kenneth E. and Louellen Anderson of Cheshire, brothers, Michael Bagley of Romoland, CA, George Bagley of Hamden, sisters, Ethel Johnson of Los Angeles, CA, Emma Patterson, Mary Thompson, Martha Bagley all of Easley, SC, grandchildren, Kenneth E. Anderson, Jr. of Bristol, Sheryl Schwink of Meriden, Faith and Robert Roth of Cheshire, Krista and John Wilonski of Hamden, Ellen Hennessey of Lutherville, MD, Thomas Hennessey of York, PA and Stephanie Adams of Cheshire, great-grandchildren, Kate and Christopher Roth of Cheshire, Caroline and Timothy Schwink of Meriden, Michael and Mathew Arthur of Lutherville, MD and Reid, Whitney and Kylie Slade all of Cheshire.
Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Betty Ann Anderson and sisters, Susan Anderson, Ruth Rifkin and Ella Bagley.
Funeral service Sat., April 23 at 10 a.m. at Christ Community Church, 120 Main St., Cheshire.
Friends may call at BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden, Friday from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m. Burial in Beaverale Memorial Park.

Michael H. Ashley, Sr.

Michael H. Ashley, Sr., loving husband of June Squire Ashley of Wallingford, passed away April 7, 2005.
Michael, affectionately known as "Mike", was born May 29, 1941 in Winston-Salem, NC, a son of Gwen H. Ashely of Winston-Salem, NC and the late John D. Ashley. Loving father of Michael Ashley, II and Terry Ashley; grandfather of Durand and Taylor Lynn; brother of Elsie Miller and her husband, Albert Miller and uncle of Scott and Gabrielle Miller. Also survived by many loving cousins and friends.
A celebration of his life memorial will be held Tues., April 12 at 5 P.M. at BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden.

Raffaele Aschettino

At his home, April 7, 2005, Raffaele Aschettino, 77, of Juniper Dr., Orange, husband of Marie Giordano Aschettino, brother of Antoietta Aschettino of Venezuela and Carmine Aschettino of Italy and several nieces and nephews in the US and Venezuela.
Raffaele was born in Moschiano, Avellino, Italy, March 4, 1928 a son of the late Luigi and Maria Minore Aschettino.
He had worked as a mechanic for Amtrak for 30 years and retired in 1993.
Funeral service private and under the direction of BEECHER & BENNETT TAYLOR FUNERAL HOME, 410 Campbell Ave., West Haven.
