Shay L. Denny, 21, of New Haven, departed this life on April 22, 2006.
Shay was born April 16, 1985, in New Haven, CT, son of Crystal McGraw and Randy Denny.
He was employed by the US Postal Service.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his stepfather, Searle Mabery; a brother, Randy Denny, Jr.; a sister, Pamela Denny; paternal grandmother, Frances Denny; a stepbrother, Curtis Mabery; and aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Carol and Clifton Warren and Selona Denny.
A funeral service in celebration of Shay's life will be held Friday, April 28, 2006, at 9 AM at Agape Christian Center, 90 Goffe St., New Haven. Friends may call at the church from 8-9 AM. Burial in Hamden Plains Cemetery.
Clarence Lynn "Bo" Bowman
1921 - 2006
Clarence Lynn "Bo" Bowman, of West Haven, loving husband of Bernice E. Bowman for 59 years, went home on March 6, 2006.
Mr. Bowman was born January 10, 1921, in New Haven, son of the late Clarence E. and Emma Lynn Bowman.
Clarence attended James Hillhouse High School and graduated with the Class of 1941.
He was honorably discharged from the Navy after serving 3 years. He attended Howard University and then studied at the Progressive School of Photography in New Haven.
Bo was employed by MB Manufacturing Co. and also by Community Progress Inc. (CPI), where he was a mentor to students at the Skill Center.
Clarence was the first black police officer at Southern Connecticut State University; he was Democratic Chairman of the 5th District and was a member of the Zoning Board of Appeals of West Haven. He was honored to be a Blue & Gold officer for the U.S. Naval Academy.
Clarence was a member of Dixwell Congregational United Church of Christ. He loved his cameras and was an avid photographer; you never saw him without a camera, pipe or cigar.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Lynn M. Waters; a son, Clarence "Skip" Bowman; two special daughters, Matilda M. Gibbs and Michele Dauyon; a sister, Lorraine Francis; 5 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; two godsons; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by a daughter, Patricia Bowman and his stepmother, Gertrude M. Bowman.
A funeral service in celebration of Clarence's life will be held Friday, March 10, 2006, at 11am at Dixwell Congregational United Church of Christ, 217 Dixwell Ave., New Haven. Friends may call at the church from 10am-11am. Interment in Evergreen Cemetery.
Louis Jackson
1953 - 2006
Louis Jackson, 53, of Ocala, FL, formerly of Connecticut, departed this life on April 22, 2006. He was the husband of Tina Jackson.
Mr. Jackson was born February 4, 1953, in Brewton, AL, son of the late Henry and Anna Jackson.
Louis was an original member of "Julius and the Soul Corruptors" band, in which he played the bass guitar.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters, Nancy Green, Cora and Janice Jackson and Raquel Moore; brothers, Henry Jackson Jr. and Joseph Jackson; a sister, Mollie Howard; 3 grandchildren; 2 godchildren; and other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by sisters, Delorese and Connie Jackson.
A funeral service in celebration of Louis' life will be held Saturday, April 29, 2006, at 9 AM at Curvin K. Council Funeral Home, 128 Dwight St., New Haven. No Calling Hours. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
Evelyn Goodison
1911 - 2006
Evelyn Goodison, 94, of Hamden, departed this life on March 8, 2006.
Ms. Goodison was born August 6, 1911, in Panama City, Panama, daughter of the late Eucal and Blanche Goodison.
She is survived by sisters, Doris Bell and Prudencia Harris of Panama; grandchildren, Debbie and Ruben Francis and Juan (Darlene) Castillo; great grandchildren, Michelle Castillo and Kimberly (Tony) Antunes; great-great grandchildren, Chelsea, Shamika, and Marc Jr.; a great-great great grandchild, Alwyn; a son in-law, Norman Francis; and other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by a daughter, Norma Francis.
A private funeral service in celebration of Evelyn's life will be held at the convenience of the family.
Charles F. Lowry
1981- 2005
Charles F. Lowry, 24, of Hamden, departed this life on November 23, 2005.
He was born in New Haven, CT, September 27, 1981, son of Rev. Sallie Turner Lowry of Hamden and Wayne Lowry of Waterbury.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by brothers, Wayne, Jr., Jonis and Theodore Lowry; paternal grandparents, Marjorie Fowler and Theodore Lowry; godparents, Beatrice Pinckney, Ruth McCord, Janice King, Richard Farricielli and Fredericke Parris; godbrothers, Randy Burnett, Mike Grays, Jose Covington, Marquese Pitts, Jesse Green and James Jackson; his nephew and godson, Joshua Lowry; and other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Sallie Kate Turner and Anguish Turner.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 29, 2005, at 10am at St. Paul UAME Church, 150 Dwight St., New Haven. Friends may call at the church from 9am-10am. Burial in Beaverdale Memorial Park.
Yvonne Walker

Yvonne Walker, 75, of Hamden, departed this life April 8, 2008.
Born in High Point, NC, October 12, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Charlie C. and Doreatha Gray Walker.
Prior to retiring, she was employed at Yale University in the Housekeeping Dept.
Ms. Walker is survived by her sisters, Sarah C. Walker and Blanche Walker Yelverton; a brother, Willie Kendall; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by brothers, Robert L., Willie O. and Prince E. Walker.

Mary Goodson, 64, of New Haven, departed this life November 9, 2007. She was the wife of Frederick Goodson.
Born in Camden, SC, July 28, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Sarah Dubose.
Prior to retiring, she was employed as a Supervisor at SNET. Mrs. Goodson was a member of Christ Chapel New Testament Church.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sons, Thomas James Dubose and Robert Henry Dubose; a daughter, Carolyn Harriston; a brother, Jimmy Dubose; 6 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Born in Goldsboro, NC, July 18, 1920, she was the daughter of the late George and Selena Bryant.
She is survived by her sister, Annie Goldman; sisters in-law, Dorothy and Audrey Bryant; 6 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by 2 children, Raymond and Charles Bryant; 4 brothers, Charles, George, Thomas and Henry Bryant; and a granddaughter.

Violeta E. Gill, 92, of New Haven, departed this life October 11, 2007.
Born in Panama City, Panama, July 19, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Clem Gill and Adriana Winn.
She had been employed at the Hill Health Center as an Administrative Assistant.
Ms. Gill is survived by sisters, Lilia Weeks and Cecilia Green; brothers, Carlos and Lamont Gill; daughters, Elena Gill de Payne, Nora de Beech and Margaret Dinsmore-Vulgaris; and other relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by a brother, Arnold Gill and a sister, Norma Gill.

Joseph N. Hamilton, Sr.
1925 - 2007
Joseph N. Hamilton Sr., 81, of Shelton Avenue, New Haven, died peacefully at the VA Hospital in West Haven, CT., on December 4, 2007. He was the husband of the late Corene Hamilton.
Son of the late Andrew and Victoria Hamilton of Yemassee, SC, Joseph was born in Colleton County, SC on December 8, 1925.
He was a World War II Army Veteran, where he was stationed in Northern France.
He moved his family to New Haven, CT in 1957. He was employed with Fusco Amatruda Construction Company, Seamless Rubber Company, Black Interior (where he worked as a bartender) and N & L Trucking Company where he was last employed.
He leaves daughters, Shirley Williams, Dorothy Hamilton, Diane Hamilton-Toles and Dinette Hamilton of New Haven, Ella "Rena" Hamilton of Irvington, N.J., Gwendolyn Hamilton Ahmed (Rasool) of Leawood, KS, and Marie Rivers (Willie) of Yemassee, S.C., Cheryl Mitchell (Anthony) of Beaufort S.C., sons, Dennis Hamilton (Terry) of Stratford CT., Joseph "Rusty" Hamilton Jr. (Natalia) of New Haven, and Steve Smalls (Liz) of Hampton S.C., a sister, Queenie Williams (Matthew) of Yemassee, S.C., a special nephew, Dr. J. Mauri Hamilton of Silver Spring, MD., 29 grandchildren and 43 great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Eva Nell Rozier, a son Andrew "Bubba" Hamilton; a brother, Seymore Hamilton and a sister in-law, Geneva Hamilton.
