Charlie J. Moore
1921 - 2008

Charlie J. Moore, 86, of Hamden, departed this life March 1, 2008. He was the widower of Nellie Ruth Moore.
Born in Winnabow, NC, November 10, 1921, he was the son of the late Charlie and Emma Moore.
Prior to retiring, he was employed at Farrel Corp. for 40 years and had also been employed at Yale University.
Mr. Moore is survived by his daughters, Shirley Taylor (with whom he resided) of Hamden, Murline Williams, Annie Harrell and Martha Barros all of West Haven; sons, Richard Moore of New Haven and David Moore of Stamford; a sister, Isadore Moore of Detroit, MI; 23 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A celebration of Mr. Moore's life and legacy will be held Friday, March 7, 2008, at 11:00 AM at Rock Tabernacle Ministries, 94 Webster St., New Haven. Friends may call at the church from 10:00-11:00 AM. Burial will be in Beaverdale Memorial Park.

Lueark "Buddy" George
1944 - 2007

Lueark “Buddy” George, 62, of West Haven died peacefully September 26, 2007, after a long illness. He was the husband of Annie George.
Born in Whiteville, NC, December 14, 1944, he was the son of the late Johnnie and Gladys George.
Prior to retiring, he was employed at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft for 34 years.
In addition to his wife he is survived by two beloved sons, Lueark “Herk” George, Jr. (Cheryl) and Timothy George (Nakia): stepdaughters, Tracy Payton, Lynn Payton (Alfy), Falaria Brown (Greg), Gwen Wilkerson (Alpheus), and Cynthia Eubanks (Earl); his first wife Gracie George; sisters, Elsie and Carolyn George, Jessie Davis (Robert), Shirley Jones (James) and Annabell Moore; 9 grandchildren; 8 step-grandchildren; 2 step-great grandchildren; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by sisters, Lissie Madden, Addie McClain and Genette Demery.
A celebration of Mr. George’s life and legacy will be held Tuesday, October 2, 2007, at 11:00 AM at Morning Star Church, 125 Dixwell Ave., New Haven. Friends may call at the church from 10:00-11:00 AM. Burial in Beaverdale Memorial Park.

Leroy Graham, Sr.
1942 - 2008

Leroy Graham, Sr., 66, of New Haven, departed this life April 15, 2008.
Born in Greenville, NC, March 25, 1942, he was the son of the late Julius and Lula Graham.
Mr. Graham was an Army veteran and prior to retiring, he was employed at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft as a Welder.
He leaves to cherish his memories a son, Leroy Graham, Jr.(Joan); a brother, Horace Graham; a special niece, Deborah Graham; his former spouse, Corina Graham; five grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Julius Graham.
A celebration of Mr. Graham's life and legacy will be held Saturday, April 19, 2008, at 9:00 AM at St. Matthew's UFWB Church, 400 Dixwell Ave., New Haven. Friends may call at the church from 8:00-9:00 AM. Burial in Beaverdale Memorial Park.

Ruth "Ruthie" Patton
1927 - 2007

Ruth "Ruthie" Patton, 79, of New Haven, CT, departed this life September 9, 2007.
Born in Stanley County, NC, September 27, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Daisy Patton.
Ms. Patton was a member of Christian Tabernacle Baptist Church and prior to retiring, was employed at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft for numerous years.
Ms. Patton leaves to cherish her memory, sisters, Elizabeth Little and Priscilla Rogers (Ronald); brothers, Carlie Lee Patton (Lois) and Melvin Patton (Ruby); godchildren, Victor "VJ" Burgin, Jr. and Eric Little; and a host of special nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by her siblings, Mary Rose Shadd, Pansy Freeman, Carolyn Walton and Eugene Patton.
A celebration of Ms. Patton's life and legacy will be held Monday, September 17, 2007, at 11:00 AM at Christian Tabernacle Baptist Church, 425 Newhall St., Hamden. Friends may call at the church from 10:00-11:00 AM. Burial in Beaverdale Memorial Park.

Robin Bell
1965 - 2007

Robin Bell, 42, of So. Norwalk, departed this life September 18, 2007.
Born in Norwalk, CT, June 11, 1965, she was the daughter of Theodore Brown and the late Claretta Bell.
She was most recently employed at Honey Hill Nursing Home.
In addition to her father, she is survived by her children, Johnnie Dunncan, Giovanni Gregory Hudson, Jr. and Colen Taevon Chester Bell; siblings, Bryant (Charlene), Robert (Valerie) and Darryl Bell (Loretta), Jasper and Jeremy Baker, Kevin, Theodore, Carl and Shelia Dow, Atara Grant (Marcus), Sharon Burns (Norman), Yolanda Spencer, and Gwendolyn Carter; her paternal grandmother, Frances Brown; and a host of aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.
A celebration of Ms. Bell's life will be held Monday, September 24, 2007, at 7:00 PM at Calvary Baptist Church, 21 Concord St., Norwalk. Friends may call at the church from 6:00-7:00 PM. Burial will be private.

Agnes Wilson
1922 - 2008

Agnes Wilson, 86, of Hamden, made her transition into eternal life on May 4, 2008. She was the wife of John Wilson, Jr.
Agnes was born in South Norwalk, CT on January 17, 1922, daughter of the late Luis Martins and Ersana Gomes Martins.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughters, Antoinette Wilson and Sandra Wilson Davis; her grandchildren, Girard Hunt, Jr. and Ariana Davis; a sister, Ethel Labissiere and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by siblings, Antonia Casseus, Amos Ennis Martins, Luis Martins, Alice Delgado and Ann Martins.
A celebration of Agnes' life and legacy will be held Thursday, May 8, 2008, at 11:00 AM at Curvin K. Council Funeral Home, 128 Dwight St., New Haven. Friends may call from 10:00-11:00 AM. Burial in Beaverdale Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 538 Preston Ave., Meriden, CT 06450-1004.

Joann Bell Washington
1938 - 2008

Joann Bell Washington, 69, of New Haven, departed this life March 15, 2008.
Born in New Haven, CT, June 22, 1938, she was the daughter of James Bell, Sr. and Mary Haynes Bell.
Prior to retiring, she was employed at SNET as a Data Entry Operator.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by a son, Wayne Washington; a brother, James Bell, Jr.; four grandchildren; a great grandchild; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by a brother, Marvin Bell, Sr.
A celebration of Ms. Washington's life and legacy will be held Saturday, March 22, 2008, at 9:00 AM at Dixwell Ave. United Church of Christ, 217 Dixwell Ave., New Haven. Friends may call at the church from 8:00-9:00 AM. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Ronnie Canteen
1959 - 2008

Ronnie Canteen, 48, of Meriden, departed this life January 28, 2008 with his family by his side.
Born December 11, 1959 in Middletown, CT, he was the son of Frances Hickman Canteen and the late George Canteen.
He was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and was employed by Pratt & Whitney Aircraft for 30 years.
Ronnie was a member of numerous bowling and billiard leagues, which he enjoyed immensely. He was also well known as the “Master Blaster” DJ in the Middletown, Hartford and New Haven areas.
In addition to his mother, he leaves to cherish his memories his beloved sister, Kelly Council(Curvin); his maternal grandfather, Henry Hickman, Sr.; aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, friends and a special friend, Judy Perez.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Sadie Hickman and his paternal grandmother, Rosa Canteen.
A celebration of Ronnie’s life will be held Friday, February 1, 2008, at 11:00 AM at Shiloh Baptist Church, 346 Butternut St., Middletown. Friends may call at the church from 10:00-11:00 AM. Burial in Pine Grove Cemetery.

Matabel Elizabeth Johnson
1924 - 2007

Matabel Elizabeth Johnson, 83, of New Haven, CT departed this life October 23, 2007.
Born in Trelawny, Jamaica, W.I., June 1, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Reid.
Prior to retiring, she was employed at Yale University. She was a long-time resident of New Haven and a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church.
She leaves to mourn, her cherished daughter, Eugenny Anderson (Alan); sons, Winston Downer (Sophia), Hector Walcott (Alda) and Wycliffe Brown, Sr.; 16 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 14 great-great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by 2 grandchildren and a great grandchild.
A celebration of Ms. Johnson's life and legacy will be held Saturday, October 27, 2007, at 9:00 AM at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 111 Whalley Ave., New Haven. Friends may call at the church from 8:00-9:00 AM. Burial in Beaverdale Memorial Park.

Marie S. Gore
1921 - 2008

Marie S. Gore, 86, of New Haven, departed this life February 19, 2008. She was the widow of Arlander Gore.
Born in Longwood, NC, July 13, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Willie and Florie Smith.
Prior to retiring, she was employed at Yale University for over 30 years.
Mrs. Gore was a member of New Bethlehem UFWB Church.
She leaves to cherish her memories, a son, Johnnie Gore (Vivian); sisters, Florie Vineyard Stevenson and Ataster Smith; 22 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by sons, Ray Gore, Bishop Aaron Gore, Sr. and Lawrence Gore; brothers, A.J. and Choppie Smith; and sisters, Itaster Easterling, Louise Reaves and Dressar Farmer.
A celebration of Mrs. Gore's life and legacy will be held Sunday, February 24, 2008, at 7:00 PM at Morning Star Church, 125 Dixwell Ave., New Haven. Friends may call at the church from 6:00-7:00 PM. Burial will be Monday at 10:00 AM in Evergreen Cemetery
