Doris Bosley
1930 - 2006

Doris Bosley, 76, of New Haven, passed away December 17, 2006 at Connecticut Hospice in Branford, CT.
Born in New Haven, CT, September 2, 1930, she was the daughter of the late James and Eleanor Curtis.
She was a parishioner of St. Martin DePorres Church in New Haven, as well as a member of the Ladies' Guild and a weekly server at the soup kitchen.
Mrs. Bosley had a lifelong devotion to education and worked as an Early Childhood education teacher for over 20 years until her retirement in 2000. From the hundreds of children that she taught to the people she encountered, she was an inspiration to them all.
Mrs. Bosley is survived by her loving husband, Louis J. Bosley; her children, Stephanie Greene, Louis K. Bosley and Edna Bosley; grandchildren, Paulette Bosley, Chanel Recasner, Jarod Greene, Louis W. Bosley, Thomas Blackwell, Jengodji Gates and Aaliyah Shabazz; great-granddaughter, Dillyn Boyd; son-in-law, Joe Greene; daughter-in-law, Mary Weir; an aunt, Esther Wilkie; special nieces, Phyllis Waite and Stacie Byrd; a dear sister-in-law, Geraldine Rollins; and a host of relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by her sister, Marion Byrd.
A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Mrs. Bosley's life and legacy will be held Saturday, December 23, 2006, at 9:30 am at St. Martin DePorres Church, 136 Dixwell Ave., New Haven. Friends may call at the church from 8:00-9:30 am. Burial in Hamden Plains Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Father Michael J. McGivney Center For Cancer Care, 1450 Chapel St., New Haven, CT 06511.

Ethel M. James
1925 - 2008

Ethel M. James, 83, of New Haven, departed this life December 18, 2008.
A celebration of Mrs. James' life and legacy will be held Wednesday, December 24, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at Joy Temple Church, 424 Howard Ave., New Haven. Burial will be private.

Gladys Lucky

Gladys Lucky, of New Haven, departed from her family and friends on October 25, 2006. She was the widow of Waitus Lucky.
Born in Darlington, SC, she was the daughter of the late Elliott and Bessie Wilds.
Gladys was an energetic and hard working woman, retiring from Yale University and SNET after working for 35 years and 20 years, respectively.
She was a long time member of St. Matthew's UFWB Church.
Mrs. Lucky is survived by daughters, Virginia Hodges and Mary Lucky, both of New Haven; two biological grandchildren, Angela Dease and X-shanti Lucky both of New Haven; a brother, Isaiah Wilds (Annie) of Darlington, SC; and a host of extended family members, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was predeceased by thirteen siblings.
A funeral service celebrating Mrs. Lucky's life and legacy will be held Thursday, November 2, 2006, at 11 AM at St. Matthew's UFWB Church, 400 Dixwell Ave., New Haven. Friends may call at the church from 10-11 AM. Burial in Hamden Plains Cemetery.

Tahzjee' Monyae' Canady
1999 - 2008

Tahzjee' Monyae' Canady, 8 years old of Hamden, departed this life October 15, 2008.
Born in New Haven, CT, October 28, 1999, she was the daughter of Taneika Canady and Qusaan McKoy.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by Jerry Alexander Jr; sisters, Tayonna McKoy, Nicole Moore and Shea and Janae Alexander; a brother, Jerry Alexander III; her maternal grandmother, Catherine Canady; paternal grandparents, Zella Ford, Sudie Carmon and Jerry Alexander; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
She was predeceased by her maternal grandfather, Clementus Fulcher and special uncles, Derek Canady and Christopher Fulcher.
A celebration of Tahzjee’s life will be held Thursday, October 23, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at Pitts Chapel UFWB Church, 64 Brewster St., New Haven. Friends may call at the church from 9:00-11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Beaverdale Memorial Park.

Beatrice Freeman
1933 - 2006

Beatrice Freeman, age 72, formerly of Connecticut, entered into rest on March 16, 2006, in Ocala, FL. She was the beloved wife of Samuel Freeman.
Beatrice was born June 11, 1933, in Greenville, NC, daughter of the late Joe and Harriet Taft Provite.
In addition to her husband she leaves to mourn, a son, Hafeez (Wanda) Shabazz of New Haven; sisters, Catherine Graves and Folger Betty Freeman of New Haven and Mable Smith of Ocala, FL; brothers, Nathaniel and Washington Provite of New Haven; granddaughters, Lakiesha Tyson and Theresa Jones Golphin of New Haven; 4 great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by a son, Calvin Tyson; brothers, William Taft and Eddie and Joe Provet; and a sister, Rosa Joyner.
A funeral service in celebration of Beatrice's life will be held Friday, March 24, 2006, at 11 AM at Mt. Zion Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 64 Marlboro St., Hamden. Friends may call at the church from 9-11AM. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery.

Anita R. Bailey
1928 - 2006

Anita R. Bailey, 78, of New Haven, departed this life on November 25, 2006. She was the widow of Clement Bailey.
Born in Jamaica, W.I. on April 16, 1928, she was the daughter of the late James and Mahalia McLean.
She was a member of Bible Gospel Center and had been employed by Tender Loving Care Health Care Services.
Mrs. Bailey is survived by sons, Stephen and Buxton Powell, Albert Simpson and Donovan and Audley Bailey; daughters, Winsome Powell and Kentish Bailey; brothers, Isaac and Owen McLean; sisters, Hortense Lee, Doris Vernal, Linda and Monica McLean, Pearl Monroe and Olive Polson; 17 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Alvin and Leonard McLean and a sister, Renetta Pitter.
A funeral service celebrating Mrs. Bailey's life and legacy will be held Wednesday, December 6, 2006 at 11 AM at Bible Gospel Center, 143 Leeder Hill Dr., Hamden. Family and friends may call at the church from 10-11 AM. Burial in Beaverdale Memorial Park.

Joseph Fields

Joseph Fields, age 82, passed away on September 12, 2005, in Bridgeport, CT.
Funeral service will be held Friday, September 16, 2005, at 11am at Christian Tabernacle Baptist Church, 449 Newhall St., Hamden. No Calling Hours. Interment will be in New Willimantic Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

Ruth Jenkins
1921 - 2009

Ruth Jenkins, 87, of New Haven, departed this life January 24, 2009. She was the widow of Carlton Jenkins.
Born in New Haven, CT, November 27, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Anna Taylor Jackson.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her children, Patricia Emery, Janice Jackson, Jacqueline Miller, Marlene Green, Keith Jenkins (Rose), Dennis Jenkins, Lorraine Nickerson (Steven) and Robert Williams (Nina); a sister, Helen Tyson; 21 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; 13 great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by a son Carlton "Chucky" Jenkins; granddaughters, Tracey Jackson and Marlene Healy; a grandson, Tyrese Jenkins; a brother, Charles Jackson; and sisters, Roberta Kelly and Ann Coleman.
A celebration of Mrs. Jenkins' life and legacy will be held Thursday, January 29, 2009, at 7:00 p.m. at St. Paul UAME Church, 1267 Chapel St., New Haven. Friends may call at the church from 6:00-7:00 p.m. Burial will be Friday at 10:00 a.m. in Evergreen Cemetery.

James Harold Good, Sr.
1916 - 2007

James Harold Good, Sr., born May 13, 1916 in Union, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest January 17, 2007. He was the beloved husband of Ruby Aiken Good, and the son of the late Dock Good and Bennie Good Gregory.
Mr. Good was a World War II Veteran serving in the United States Army.
He moved to Connecticut in 1963 and was hired by Blakeslee Construction Company and worked there for a short period. He was then hired by Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in North Haven and remained there until his retirement.
In addition to his wife, he leaves to cherish his memory four children: three daughters, Barbara (Roy) Reed and Sandra (Robert) Gibson of New Haven, CT and Gladys (David) Rainey of Waterloo, IA; one son, Kenneth (Stephanie) Good of Hamden; one daughter-in-law, Gwendolyn Good of Hamden, CT; eight grandchildren, and one great-grandchild; one sister, Christine Harris of Union, SC; two sisters-in-law, Annie Belle Good of Pittsburgh, PA, Alba Sims of Simpsonville, SC and Ruthie (Commodore) McLean of Philadelphia, PA; two brothers-in-law, Vernon (Rosetta) Aiken of Union, SC and Troy Aiken of Detroit, MI; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by four sons: James Harold, Jr., Curtis, Lee Edward and John A. Good; four brothers, Dock, Jr., S.M., Sims, and Nonnors Good and two sisters, Eddie Smith and Bridget Jeter.
Funeral services to celebrate Mr. Good’s life and legacy will be held Tuesday, January 23, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Bible Gospel Center, 143 Leeder Hill Drive, Hamden, Connecticut. Friends may call at the church from 8:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. Family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Burial in Beaverdale Memorial Park.

David L. Spruill

David L. Spruill, 64, of Atlanta, GA, formerly of New Haven, CT, died at Emory Hospital in Atlanta.
He was the son of the late Clarence L. and Mary E. Spruill.
He leaves to mourn, sisters, Paula Jeffers (Warner) and Sharon Gambrell (Marshall) both of New Haven and Avon Johnson (Michael) of Hamden; and brothers, Leroy Spruill of New Haven and Ricardo Spruill of Queens, NY.
A memorial service celebrating Mr. Spruill's life will be held Friday, January 19, 2007, at 7 PM at Curvin K. Council Funeral Home, 128 Dwight St., New Haven.

James Frederic Stewart
1954 - 2007

James Frederic Stewart, age 52, a lifelong resident of New Haven, CT, entered into peaceful rest on April 22, 2007 at Yale New Haven Hospital.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, November 23, 1954, he was the son of Clarence Stewart and Aurelia Dillard Stewart Clemons.
He served in the US Army from 1972-1975 and was previously employed by Pratt & Whitney Aircraft and Sage American Grill.
In addition to his parents, James leaves his loving wife of 27 years, Gloria Ann Payton Stewart of New Haven; sisters, Judi "Keesh" Williams of West Haven and Cheryl Corey (Michael) of New Haven; a brother, Ronald Waller (Sylvia) of New Haven; a special sister in-law, Myrtle Spruill (Bobby) of New Haven; brothers in-law, Woodrow Payton, Jr. (Mageline), Christopher and Curtis Payton, all of North Carolina; sisters in-law, Betty Lynn Smith (Milton) and Angeline Mohammed both of North Carolina and Dorothy Jackson (Alfred) of New Jersey; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by his daughter Temperence Olivia Stewart and his paternal grandparents, Willie and Kelsie Anderson.
A celebration of James' life and legacy will be held Saturday, April 28, 2007, at 9:00 am at Joy Temple Church, 424 Howard Ave., New Haven. Friends may call at the church from 8:00-9:00 am. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery.

Keith L. White
1952 - 2005

Keith L. White, 53, of New Haven, died November 14, 2005. He was the husband of Darcelle Durham White.
Mr. White was born in New Haven, CT, November 12, 1952, son of the late Joe Pearson and Mabel White. He was an army veteran.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters, Michelle Little and Kesha White; a son, Keith White II; brothers, Leroy, Dennis and Allen White; 5 grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by a sister, Lorraine White.
Funeral service was held on November 18, 2005, at Curvin K. Council Funeral Home. Burial in Beaverdale Memorial Park.
