Duane M. Brown
1957 - 2006

Duane M. Brown, 48, of New Haven, departed this life on July 27, 2006.

Duane was born in New Haven, CT, on October 18, 1957, son of the late William Harold Brown and Lillian Brown.

He is survived by his children, Duane Brown, Jr. and Brittany Brown; a brother, Harold Brown; sisters, Barbara and Daphne Durham, Linda Durham-Waters, Dorothy Brown, Virginia Brown-Williams (Minister Sinclair, Jr.) and Diane Brown Zadubara (James); and a host of aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his twin brother,
David Michael Brown.

A funeral service celebrating Duane's life and legacy will be held Thursday, August 3, 2006, at 11 AM at Curvin K. Council Funeral Home, 128 Dwight St., New Haven. Friends may call from 10-11 AM. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery.

Philip Thomas Riddick
1967 - 2010

Philip Thomas Riddick, 42, of Hamden, departed this life February 16, 2010.

Born in New Haven, CT, November 6, 1967, he was the son of Anita White Riddick and Linwood Riddick.

He was employed at ADP as an IT Specialist.

In addition to his parents, he leaves to cherish his memory, a son, Philip Thomas Riddick, Jr.; a daughter, Janelle Hammie-Riddick; brothers, Kumal and Joshua Riddick, Kareem and Hasan Nixon and Randall Redd; a sister, Tracy Edwards; his grandfather, Edward White, Sr; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was predeceased by his grandmother, Phyllis West White and his aunt, Linda White Epps.

A celebration of Philip T. Riddick's life will be held Saturday, February 20, 2010, at 11:00 AM at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 885 Wintergreen Ave., Hamden. Viewing and visitation will be held at the Hall from 10:00-11:00 AM. Burial will be private.

Margaret Morris Galberth
1938 - 2006

Margaret Morris Galberth, 68, of Barnes Ave., New Haven was called home to rest on September 28, 2006. She was the widow of David "Toby" "Otto" Galberth, Sr.

Born in New Haven, CT on March 14, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Paul Caesar Morris Moreira and Helen Foreman Morris.

Prior to her retirement, she was employed by Lenders Bakery.

Mrs. Galberth is survived by sons, David Galberth, Jr., John, Kevin, and Keith Galberth; daughters, Helen Galberth Mahieu, Donna and Priscilla Galberth; adopted sons, William and Cleveland Wilson; a brother, Caesar Morris; sisters, Pauline Morris Geyer, Emily Morris Stuckey and Geraldine Morris Williams; her longtime companion, John Barrett; 19 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by a son, Maurice Galberth; a daughter, Doreen Galberth Grant and a brother, Edward Morris.

A funeral service celebrating Margaret's life and legacy will be held Tuesday, October 3, 2006, at 11 AM at Curvin K. Council Funeral Home, 128 Dwight St., New Haven. Friends may call from 10-11 AM. Burial in St. Bernard's Cemetery.

Charles Lingberg Price, Jr.
1971 - 2007

Charles Lingberg Price, Jr., 35, of New Haven, departed this life suddenly February 8, 2007.

Born September 18, 1971 in Greenville, NC, he was the son of Charles Price, Sr. and Veronica Price.

In addition to his parents, he leaves to cherish his memory his wife Janitha (Jan McCray Price), sons Charles T., Eli’sha Z., Jabree A., Jamal and Timothy Price and Tepritition Cherry; siblings, Debra, Shannita and Jamar Price and Charles Ray Davis; father in-law, Howard McCray, mother in-law, Glennie Hammonds, sisters in-law, Tarry Floyd and Tamla Hammonds, brothers in-law, Travon and Jaquell McCray. Charles also leaves his grandmother, Christine Thompson; a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other extended family and friends.

He was predeceased by grandmothers Jerry Lewis and Juanita Winston, brothers Daryl and Shea Price and a daughter Simone McCray Price.

A funeral service to celebrate Charles’ life will be held Thursday, February 15, 2007, at 11 am at Joy Temple Church of Christ in Prayer, 424 Howard Ave., New Haven. Burial in Hamden Plains Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be sent to the United Way of Greater New Haven’s Community Wellness Priority Area, 71 Orange St., New Haven 06510.

Pauline O. McAllister
1924 - 2008

Pauline O. McAllister, 84, of New Haven, departed this life September 22, 2008. She was the widow of James McAllister.

Born in Dunn, NC, May 22, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Charlie and Martha McLean.

Prior to retiring, she was employed at Sargent Manufacturing as a Machine Operator.

She leaves to cherish her memories, a grandson, Darrin McAllister (Corina); four great grandchildren; a special nephew, Willard Allen (Hattie); and a host of other relatives and friends.

Sons, Johnnie Morris and Lorenzo McAllister, brothers, Ernest, Willie and Jessie McLean, sisters, Sadie Allen, Mary Lou Clarke and Beatrice Whitaker, and a grandson, Cortland McAllister preceded her in death.

A celebration of Mrs. McAllister’s life and legacy will be held Monday, September 29, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Baptist Church, 1324 Chapel St., New Haven. Friends may call at the church from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Beaverdale Memorial Park.

Cynthia L. Young-Moore
1959- 2006

Cynthia L. Young-Moore, 47, of Willimantic, CT, formerly of New Haven, entered into eternal life on May 22, 2006. She was the wife of Anthony Moore.

Mrs. Young-Moore was born in New Haven, CT, on February 4, 1959, daughter of Louis Young and Dorothy Young.

She was employed by Network, Inc. as an educational instructor.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is survived by sons, Robshawn Young and Melvin Watts; a daughter, Robin Vaughn; brothers, Kenneth and Felix Young and Scott Philpot; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by a brother, Mark Young.

A funeral service in celebration of Cynthia's life will be held Wednesday, May 31, 2006, at 11 AM at Bethel AME Church, 255 Goffe St., New Haven. Friends may call at the church from 10-11 AM. Burial in Beaverdale Memorial Park, New Haven.

Madeline B. Hundley
1926 - 2008

Madeline B. Hundley, 82, of New Haven, departed this life September 14, 2008. She was the widow of Arthur Hundley.

Born in Neptune, NJ, January 10, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Thomas S. Barnes and Madeline Estes Lee.

She leaves to cherish her memories, a son, Clarence Joe Hundley; daughters, Edith Rawls and Madeline Hundley Harris; sisters, Ethel B. Tolson and Edith B. Gore; six grandchildren, Elisa Hundley, Eric Hundley (Yamayra), Nicole Rawls-Rouse (Gregory), Lynn Harris, Kamal Simon and Jennifer Diaz-Hundley; eleven great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A grandson, Rodney Hundley, preceded her in death.

A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Mrs. Hundley's life and legacy will be held Friday, September 19, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at St .Martin DePorres Church, 136 Dixwell Ave., New Haven. Friends may call at the church from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Hamden Plains Cemetery.

Yvonne B. Brooks
1951 - 2007

Yvonne B. Brooks, 56, of New Haven, departed this life August 19, 2007. She was the wife of Larry D. Brooks.

Born in Derby, CT, February 17, 1951, she was the daughter of Mary Lee Byrd and the late Matthew Augustus Byrd, Sr.

She was employed at the Jewish Home for the Aged as a Certified Nurse's Assistant.

In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by her children, Tonya Lloyd (Theodore "Ted"), Juanita and Angela Byrd and Yvonne McCleese; a brother, Matthew Byrd; sisters, Joan and Mary Byrd and Judith Monk; four grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A celebration of Mrs. Brooks' life and legacy will be held Friday, August 24, 2007, at 11:00 AM at Varick AME Zion Church, 246 Dixwell Ave., New Haven. Friends may call at the church from 10:00-11:00 AM. Burial in Beaverdale Memorial Park.

Carrol Jenise Moye
1956 - 2010

After a gradual decline in health, Carrol Jenise Moye, age 54, went home to be with the Lord the morning of September 12, 2010. She was surrounded and supported by her loving family and friends during her last days. Carrol was born in Florence, AL on April 24, 1956 and was the daughter of George Washington Hurt, Jr. and Ernestine Virginia Reid Hurt.

She accepted Christ as her personal savior during her adolescent years. She united with Union Temple Free Will Baptist Church where she served for over 30 years. She was an active member of Springs of Life-Giving Waters under Pastor William L. Mathis for the last 7 years.

She received most of her education from the New Haven Public School system; however, she graduated in 1973 from Paul Muir High School in Pasadena, CA. Carrol returned to New Haven, CT in 1974. She worked for Bradlees Department store for 25 years until its closing in 2001. Since 1995 she has been providing support services to individuals with developmental disabilities. For the last 13 years she has provided these services with Hart United where she became the House Manager of Victory House Group Home.

Her love for family and friends was exhibited through her social interactions. Carrol was one of the founding committee members of the CT Chapter Mills Family Reunion for 25 years. She was also a acting founding member of US Social Club since 1990.

Carrol is survived by her husband, David; three children: Keeva Scrivner (Jeff), LaKeya, and David Jr.; one grandchild: Aiyana Shaw; one brother, Bruce Hurt of California; two sisters, Sherri Davis of New Jersey and Eva Dawn Cooper of Tennessee; sisters-in law Shelly Hurt, Priscilla Sweeny, Diane Frasier, Sharon Cain-Moye and Dorothy Moye; brothers-in-law Ronald Moye Sr., Rossie Moye and Marion Frasier; three uncles Frank (Saphronia), Raymond (Gerry) and Maurice (Jean) Hurt; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving relatives and numerous friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother George Hurt III of California, grandparents George Hurt Sr., Francis Hurt, Lee Reid and Ruby Hurt and aunt Bernice Jean Jones all of Tennessee.

A celebration of Mrs. Moye's life and legacy will be held Friday, September 17, 2010, at 11:00 AM at Agape Christian Center, 90 Goffe St., New Haven. Viewing and visitation will be held at the church from 10:00-11:00 AM. Burial will be in Beaverdale Memorial Park.

Florencia Rosario
1933 - 2005

Florencia Rosario, 72, of Sherman Lane, Hamden, died on October 2, 2005.

Ms. Rosario was born in Las Marias, Puerto Rico, on August 30, 1933, daughter of the late Juan and Altagarcia Roman Guzman.

She is survived by daughters, Nilsa Cogdell (Roy) and Marisol Franquiz-Badshah (Zahoor); sons, Victor Rosario (Mary) and John Franquiz; a sister, Maria Gonzalez; 11 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

She was predeceased by 14 brothers and sisters.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, October 6, 2005, at 10am in St. Rose of Lima Church, 115 Blatchley Ave., New Haven. No Calling Hours. Burial in Centerville Cemetery, Hamden.
