Roger Salvador,
retired educator
Roger Simon Salvador, 68, of Rehoboth Beach, died suddenly Friday, May 25, 2007, at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes.
He was born Dec. 7, 1938, in Havana, Cuba, son of Mariano Laurentino Salvador of Aventura, Fla., and the late Juana Maria (De La Cruz) Salvador.
He received his bachelor’s degree from St. Joseph University in Philadelphia, Pa., and his master’s degree from Temple University.
For 35 years Mr. Salvador taught at Northeast Catholic High School in Philadelphia, where he had served as chairman of the Language Department for 16 years, retiring in 2003.
He had been very active in the Logan Square Neighborhood Association in Philadelphia, and was currently the treasurer of the Breakwater Estates Community Association in Rehoboth Beach. He was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church and was a former member of the Cathedral Parish of Saints Peter & Paul, Philadelphia.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his life partner Alan Hedlund, his sister Zoe Alonso and her husband Gus of Aventura, Fla.; four nephews, Gustavo Alonso IV, Alexander Alonso, Joel Alonso, and Thomas Alonso; three great-nephews, Justin Alonso, Alexander Alonso and Gustavo Alonso V.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m., Friday, June 1, at Epworth United Methodist Church, 20 Baltimore Ave., Rehoboth Beach with the Rev. Jack Abel and the Rev. Jill Hedlund Kitskoe officiating.
Friends may call at the church from noon to 2 p.m., Friday, June 1. Burial will be at Epworth United Methodist cemetery , Rehoboth Beach.
Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to the Roger Salvador Memorial Fund, c/o Epworth U. M. Church, 20 Baltimore Ave., Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971.
Anne M. Young Misarti,
Lewes homemaker
Anne M. Young Misarti, 88, of Lewes, died Friday, July 27, 2007, at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes.
Mrs. Misarti, known as “Shani”, was born Feb. 27, 1919, in Glasgow, Scotland. She met and married her husband Gabriel in England during World War II while she was an ambulance driver in the British Armed Forces, and he was a member of the U.S. Army Air Corps.
“Shani” returned with Gabriel to the United States immediately after the war. She became an American citizen and gave birth to her two sons. She moved from Westport, Conn., to Delaware with her husband in 1995. Over the course of her lifetime, she selflessly dedicated her love, wit and wisdom to her husband and family.
Mrs. Misarti is survived by her husband, Gabriel Misarti, of Lewes; two sons, Adrian P. Misarti and Roland J. Misarti; five grandchildren, Gabriel, Nicole, Greg, James and Douglas Misarti; and two great-grandchildren, Sarah and Alexander.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 1, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, with Father Max Wolf officiating. A viewing will be held at the funeral home from 2 to 3 p.m. prior to the funeral service.
Interment will be at 2 p.m., Thursday Aug. 2, at Gate of Heaven cemetery , Hawthorne, N.Y. Pauline C. Drew,

Pauline C. Drew, 94, of Millsboro, died Monday, July 23, 2007, at Beebe Medical Center, Lewes.
She was born on July 6, 1913, in Charleston, W.Va. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Gwendolyn Jones Davis, as well as her parents.
She is survived by five children, Norman Davis, Brad Davis, Fred Davis, Tracey Davis and Joyce Bennett; nine great-grandchildren, Fred Davis III, Christopher Davis, Robin Davis, Jasmine Bennett, Amber Davis, Vincent Bennett Jr., Adam Davis, Jessica Davis and Brad Davis Jr.; and a great-great-grandchild.
Services were held at the Watson Funeral Home, Millsboro, with burial in Union Wesley U.M. Church cemetery , Clarksville.
Lois I. Janvier,

Lois I. Janvier, 71, of Wilmington and Joy Beach, Lewes, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 25, 2007, surrounded by her loving family.
She was the beloved wife of Charles R. Janvier, with whom she shared 54 years of marriage. Born in Topaz, Mo., to Simeon and Anna Reese, Lois attended a one-room schoolhouse for her first eight years of school and graduated fifth in her class from Mountain Grove High School in 1953.
Lois participated in many extra-curricular activities including cheerleading, debating team and the school newspaper. She attended Southwest Missouri State until she met and married Charles and they moved to Delaware in 1955. Professionally, Lois achieved great success through a career that started as a temporary employee at Delmarva Power & Light, and ultimately retiring as a corporate credit manager in 1994 after 39 years of service. Lois was a volunteer at Junior Achievement, and was a member of The Pilot Club, a women’s business organization. She loved gardening and enjoyed the rewards of her work.
She was a devoted wife and mother and in addition to her husband she is survived by her daughter, Debra J. Bradley and her husband, Randy, of Chadds Ford, Pa.; two cherished grandsons, Jarryd and Kyle; and many nieces and nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Floyd Sr., Marlin and Ina.
The family would like to thank all the personnel at the Helen Graham Center, especially Dr. G. Masters, Joan, Debbie and Dan for all the help and comfort.
Viewings will be from 10 to 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 31, at the McCrery Memorial Funeral Home, 3924 Concord Pike, Talleyville (Route 202, south of Silverside Rd.), where the funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 31. Interment will be at Silverbrook cemetery.

Elizabeth L. Murray, 86, of Selbyville, died Thursday, July 19, 2007, at home.
Elizabeth was the owner/operator of Murray’s Rooms in Selbyville. She enjoyed working word puzzles and reading novels.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Alice Simpson Moore; her husband, Halton I. Murray; brothers and sisters, George Moore, Ernest Moore, William Moore, Mary Helen Johnson, Violet Short and Dorothy Dorey.
She is survived by her children, Joseph L Murray and wife Stella of Springfield, Pa., and Connie Sausman of Millsboro; her grandchildren, Diana and Eric Lande of Doylestown, Pa., Robin and Kirk Smith of Mason, N.H., Kevin Murray of Langhorne, Pa., John and Shannon Sausman of Franklinville, N.J.; great-grandchildren, Peter, James, Sophia, Sabrinia and Judah; and a sister, Edith Atkins, of Dagsboro.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 4, at Millsboro cemetery . Millsboro.

Louise B. Marroni,

Louise B. (Meriggi) Marroni, 83, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 25, 2007, at the home of her nieces in Rehoboth Beach.
She retired in 1987 after 45 years with Wilmington Finishing, where she was a fabric grader. She was a longtime member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. Louise was the daughter of the late Rose and John Meriggi. Her husband of 52 years, Armond J. Marroni, preceded her in death in February 2007. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Nina M. Rendina, and her brother, Joseph C. Meriggi.
Louise is survived by her nieces, Lynda R. Maloney of Rehoboth Beach, Aleta R. Levine and her husband, Norman of Hockessin, and Maria A. Rendina of Rehoboth Beach. She is also survived by two-great nieces; two great-nephews; one great-great niece; as well as many in-laws and a host of cousins. A funeral Mass was held at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 900 N. DuPont St., Wilmington. Burial was in Cathedral cemetery , Wilmington.

Evelyn M. Scone,

Evelyn M. Deveney Scone, 94, of Ocean City, N.J., passed away Saturday, July 28, 2007, at Brandywine Assisted Living in Rehoboth Beach.
Mrs. Scone was born October 14, 1912 in Chester, Pa., daughter of the late William and Mary Elizabeth Devlin Deveney.
Mrs. Scone was a member of Union Chapel By The Sea in Ocean City, N.J. She loved to knit. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Stephen A. Scone. She is survived by her her son, Stephen A. Scone III of Rehoboth Beach; two daughters, Evelyn G. Gargano of Pinecrest, Fla., and Helen S. Lawrence of Ocean City, N.J.; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 2, at Lawn Croft cemetery , 1000 W. Ridge Road, Linwood, Pa.

Beverly Ann Tikiob,

Beverly Ann Tikiob, 46, of Lincoln, died Sunday, July 22, 2007 in The Milford Center, Genesis Healthcare.
Ms. Tikiob was born in Lewes, the daughter of the late William Edward and Louise Ann Veasey Shufelt. She graduated from Cape Henlopen High School, in 1979 and continued her education at Delaware Technical and Community College.
She then entered the U. S. Army and served for more than 19 years, retiring in 2005 as a recuiter. She served during Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom. She was a member of Eagles Nest Church, Milton. She loved to play bingo, go hiking on the Shenadoah Mountains trails and taking care of her pride and joy, her dogs “Tater,” a Golden Retriever, and “Kahlua,” a Boxer.
She is survived by two sons, Chris M. Kneipp and his fiancee’ Anne K. Hopkins of Lincoln and Brian E. Kneipp, of Lewes; a sister, Cindy L. Shufelt, of Lewes; two brothers William L. Shufelt of Ellendale and Robert E. Shufelt and his wife Stephanie of Lincoln; four nieces, Jennifer Shufelt, Amanda Shufelt, Haley Shufelt and Tylar Shufelt; and her two loving companions, her dogs, Tater and Kahlua.
At the family’s request, services will be private at the convenience of the family.

Alfred W. Allen,

Alfred W. Allen, 64, of Lewes, passed away Monday, July 23, 2007, at Harbor Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center in Lewes.
Mr. Allen was born on May 1, 1943 in Wilmington.
Mr. Allen had been employed as a sheet metal worker in the sheet metal fabricating business. Mr. Allen served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of American Legion Post 28, Oak Orchard. He loved fishing and greatly enjoyed being with his fiance and her family.
In addition to his mother, Mr. Allen is survived by four sons; one daughter; three grandchildren; two sisters; and a brother, all of Delaware. He is also survived by his fiance, Jean M. Techentine of Lewes; her children and grandchildren, Diana Vansant and her husband Tony, and their children Shane and Ashley Vansant all of Townsend; Travis Techentine and his wife Jennifer, and their children Leif, Wyatt and Trey all of Newark; and Damien Techentine and his daughter Tessa, both of Lewes.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, July 31, in the Chapel at Delaware Veterans Memorial cemetery , 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro.

Norman Howett Jr.,

Norman “Norm” L. Howett Jr., 81, of Rehoboth Beach, passed away Monday, July 23, 2007, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, Md.
He was born May 26, 1926 in Stanton, son of the late Norman L. Howett Sr. and Natalie I. Powell Howett.
A World War II veteran, he served as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army. After the war, he began an 18-year career with All American Engineering as an electronics expert. In 1972, Norm decided that the hectic life of upstate Delaware was not for him so he moved his family to Sussex County where he formed Indian River Enterprises, Inc. After more than 20 years of boat rentals and a tackle shop, Norm finished his working career managing computer systems at Old Inlet Bait and Tackle.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, James Howett and his sister, Beverly Howett.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Annabelle L. Morris Howett; three sons and eight grandchildren, Norman “Butch” and his wife Michelle of New Castle, and their children, Kimberly, Elizabeth and Aaron, and Stacey and her husband Lester; Jeffrey of Rehoboth Beach, and his children, Brett and Ryan; and David and his wife Judy of Dagsboro, and their children, Kevin and Kristin and her husband Daniel.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, July 30, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, where friends may call one hour prior to the services. Burial will follow at 1 p.m., at Delaware Veterans Memorial cemetery , 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro.

Margaret Alberta Stumpf Garvine, 92, of Wilmington Manor died Tuesday, July 24, 2007.
Mrs. Garvine was a homemaker and a member of Asbury United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Garvine was preceded in death in 2000 by her husband of 65 years, Elmer Garvine.
She is survived by her sons, Harvey L. Garvine and his wife, Shirley of New Castle, and James E. Garvine and his wife, Debra of New Castle; daughters, Jean M. Powell and her husband, Donald of Millsboro, Evelyn M. Claveloux and her husband, Richard of Wilmington and Judith Overstreet and her husband, James of Bedford, Va.; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Friday, July 27, in the chapel at Gracelawn Memorial Park, N. DuPont Highway, New Castle where visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in the adjoining Memorial Park.
