Suzonne C. Arena,
retired school teacher
Suzonne C. Kohler Arena, 72, of Lewes, died Friday, Oct. 1, 2004, at Christiana Medical Center in Christiana.
She was born September 28, 1932, in Rochester, N.Y. to the late Clarence J. Kohler and Frances “Houck” Kohler.
Mrs. Arena was an elementary school teacher for many years in Honeoye Falls, N.Y. She was an active member of St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church in Lewes serving as a lector, eucharistic minister, and also on the Salt & Light Welcoming Committee and the Bereavement Group.
She is survived by her husband, Philip F. Arena of Lewes; one daughter, Amy S. Arena of Schenectady, N.Y.; three sons, David A. and his companion Greg of Coatesville, Pa.; Paul A. of Lewes; Christopher P. of North Conway, N.H.; one granddaughter, Reilly Arena; one brother, David Kohler and his wife Barbara of Kenosha, Wi.; and nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, Oct. 6, 10 a.m., at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church on Route 1 at Five Points. Interment will be private.
Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.

John Hoffich,
retired machinist
John Hoffich, 87, of Lewes and formerly of Bethlehem, Pa. and Manahawkin, N.J., died Sunday, Oct. 3, 2004, at home.
He was a machinist at the Bethlehem Steel Company, retiring in 1979.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Margery; a niece, Irene Prestosh of Bethlehem; and grand nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 7, at Conley’s United Methodist Church in Angola, where friends may call after 9:30 a.m. Friends may also call from 7 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 6, at the chapel of Melson Funeral Services on Long Neck Road. Burial will be in Conley’s United Methodist cemetery.

Charles M. Porter,
sheet metal worker
Charles M. “Chuck” Porter, 65, of Lewes and formerly of Boothwyn, Pa., died Thursday, Sept. 30, 2004, at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital.
Mr. Porter was born and raised in Lewes. He had lived in Boothwyn for 23 years prior to relocating to Lewes, where he had resided the past two years.
He graduated from Neumann High School in Philadelphia. He had been employed as a sheet metal worker for Local 19 for 27 years until his retirement in 1996. He was an Army veteran during peace time. His memberships included the Sheet Metal Workers Union Local 19 for 35 years and St. Gabriel’s bowling league in Philadelphia. He was an avid gardener and a computer buff and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Kathleen M. Clark Porter; four children, Thomas Porter of Woodbridge, Va., Dawn Tierney of Boothwyn, Pa., Keith Porter of West Chester, Pa. and Alex Porter of Lewes; a brother, James Porter of Warminster, Pa.; his best friend, Harry “Skip” Clark of South Philadelphia, Pa.; and six grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 5, at St. John Fisher Catholic Church, 4225 Chichester Ave., Boothwyn, Pa., where a viewing will be held from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Interment will be in Sts. Peter and Paul cemetery , Springfield, Pa.

Warren S. Schneller,
Cape high administrator
Warren S. Schneller, 78, of Lewes, died Thursday, Sept. 30, 2004, at Beebe Medical Center, Lewes.
He was born in Allentown, Pa. and was a graduate of Muhlenburg College in Allentown and the Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa. Mr. Schneller was a teacher for 37 years with the Lewes School District, where he taught physics, chemistry and biology and coached basketball and football. Before retiring, he was assistant principal at Cape Henlopen High School.
He was preceded in death by a brother, John J. Schneller. He is survived by his wife, Katherine; a son, John of Columbia, Mo.; daughter, Karen Elizabeth Schneller of Lewes; and a granddaughter, Katherine Schneller.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 5,k at Melson Funeral Services, Long Neck Road. Burial will be in St. Peter’s Episcopal cemetery , Pilottown Rd., Lewes.
Richard A. Stetyick,
member of signal corps
Richrd A. Stetyick, 22, of Millsboro, died at home Friday, Oct. 1, 2004.
He was born in Philadelphia, Pa., the son of Linda and Frank Stetyick. He was a member of the National Guard Signal Corps.
Besides his parents, he is survived by a brother, Michael; three sisters, Deane Holland, Kimberly O’Connell and Karen Stetyick.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 5, at the chapel of Melson Funeral Services on Long Neck Road.
Richard F. Gott,
retired civilian engineer
Richard Frommeyer Gott, 82, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2004, at home.
He was born in Gettysburg, Pa., June 24, 1922, the son of the late Estelle Frommeyer Gott and Richard Gott. He was the oldest of five children.
Mr. Gott grew up in Forest Glen, Silver Spring, Md. He attended Gonzaga High School and won a scholarship to Catholic University, which he attended for two years until he became a sergeant with the U.S. Army Engineers during World War II. He served as a surveyor during the occupation of Germany. When he came home, he finished his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Maryland, College Park. It was at the university that he met his beloved wife of 56 years, Jane Wright.
After graduation, Mr. Gott worked for the U.S. Navy as a civilian engineer until his retirement in 1978 after 32 years of service. Early in his career there, he invented a special locking system with a quick release safety device for naval weapons systems. For many years prior to his retirement, he was the Chief Systems Engineer for the Polaris, Poseidon, and Trident missile systems in the Strategic Systems Project Office. Upon retirement, he and his wife moved to Lewes, where they ran the Antique Corner for 26 years.
He served on the Lewes City Council for eight years and was instrumental in keeping the town’s Delaware Bay shoreline undeveloped. During his tenure there, he also helped fund and build the new Lewes Public Library building.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary G. Gastelle and Betty Scherschel, as well as his brother, John “Jack” Gott.
In addition to his wife, he leaves behind six children, Madelle G. Tolbert, and her husband, Dan of Frederick, Md.; Mary G. Saltarelli, and her husband, Joseph of Granbury, Texas; Therese Gott Banz; Jane Bakke, and her husband, Troy; Richard J. Gott; and Elizabeth D. Gott, all of Lewes. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Rebecca Melson Klein; Jacob Melson; Jeb Bakke; Maddy, Elise, and Amy Tolbert; and Christopher M. Banz; and one great grandson, David Klein. In addition, he also leaves behind his sister Ann L. Craig of Tioga, La.; and his sister-in-law Marjorie Gott of Garrett Park, Md.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Catholic Mass will be celebrated for Mr. Gott at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, Route 1 at Five Points, Lewes, Saturday, Oct. 2, at 11 a.m. Burial services will immediately follow at St. Peter’s Church cemetery
on Pilottown Road, Lewes.

Patricia A. Bauer,

Patricia a. Bauer, 73, of Teal Point, Milton, died Monday, Sept. 27, 2004, at home after a long courageous battle with cancer.
Mrs. Bauer was born in Pottstown, Pa., the daughter of the late Earl R. and Esther B. Bender Ziegler. She moved to Delaware with her husband in 1998 from Pottstown after retiring as a switchboard operator with Keystone Steel in Spring City, Pa. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Pottstown and enjoyed bowling and her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Harold C. Bauer of Milton; two sons, Bruce Bauer and his wife Cindy, and Jay H.C. Bauer and his wife Janice, all of Pottstown; five grandchildren, Jason, Michael, Bryon, Brent and Evan; a brother, George W. Ziegler of Pottstown; a sister, Jean Houck of Cherry Hill, N.J.; and her loving and faithful dog, Maggie.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 2, at Limerick Garden of Memories, Limerick, Pa.

John M. Bennett,
truck driver
John M. Bennett, 40, of Milton, died Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2004, while in New York.
Mr. Bennett was born in Ridgewood, N.J., the son of Jim and Arlene Nielsen Bennett of Milton. Mr. Bennett was a truck driver for Covenant Trucking Co. based in Tennessee. He was a Civil War historian and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a son, Uriah John Bennett of Oxford, N.Y.; two brothers, James D. Bennett and his wife Karen, and Mark T. Bennett and his wife Karen, all of West Milford, N.J.; a sister, Tracy McGuinness and husband Mike of Goshen, N..Y.; and seven nephews.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 2, at Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal St., Milton, where friends may call at 1 p.m.
Marti D. Coco,
Rehoboth restaurateur
Marti D. Coco, 48, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2004.
Mrs. Coco owned CoCo’s Restaurant in Arlington, Va. from 1980-1999. She also owned CoCo’s Diner, Casa Di Napoli and the Italian Café in Rehoboth.
Mrs. Coco is survived by her loving husband, Gregg Coco; and her four children, Brooke, Jennifer, Garrett and Alex; her sisters, Jody White and Robin Gronlund; and her brother, Robert Mason.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 2, at Parsell Funeral Homes, King’s Highway, Lewes.
C. Richard Creasy,
Navy veteran
C. Richard Creasy, 60, of Lewes, passed away Friday, Sept. 24, 2004.
Mr. Creasy was born in Scranton, Pa. and served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of American Legion Post 17 and was an avid NASCAR fan, and enjoyed sports and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Linda; a son, Michael, of Atlanta, Ga.; two daughters, Sharon Gattone and Laurie DiCave, both of Swedesboro, N.J.; a brother, Larry of Narvon, Pa.; five grandchildren, T.J., Angela, Nick, Arianna and Joey; and three nieces.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 1, at Parsell Funeral homes & Crematorium, 1449 Kings Highway, Lewes, with burial private.

Natalie Elizabeth Quesenberry, of Frederick, Md., previously of Baltimore, Md., died Monday, Sept. 27, 2004.
She was the beloved wife of Ray E. Quesenberry Sr.; beloved mother of Bonnie Quesenberry and partner Fay Jacobs, and Glenn Quesenberry and wife Jeanette and the late Ray Quesenberry Jr. She is also survived by five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and daughter-in-law Mary Quesenberry.

William Henry Rutherford,
former Dewey official
William Henry Rutherford, 62, of Dewey Beach, died Monday, Sept. 27, 2004, at home.
He was born on November 8, 1941, in Baltimore, Md., the son of the late William H. Rutherford and Dorthea Quick Rutherford.
Mr. Rutherford was Dewey Beach town manager from 1988 to 2003. Prior to that he had worked for many years as an accountant for British Petroleum. He loved golfing and fishing and was an amateur radio hobbyist.
He was a member of Sussex Pines Golf and Country Club, associate member of the American Legion Post 5, Rehoboth Beach, and the Dewey Beach Lions Club.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Oct. 1, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 1449 Kings Hwy., Lewes, with Father Max Wolf officiating. Burial will be private in All Saints’ cemetery , Angola.
