Frank Peacock Sr.,
retired truck driver
Frank Peacock Sr., 65, of near Millsboro, died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2004, at home.
Mr. Peacock was a truck driver for many years, driving for Allen Foods in Harbeson, which was previously Carcil Inc. and Paramount. He retired in July of this year. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and attended Friendship United Methodist Church in Millsboro. He enjoyed salt water fishing, working on old lawn mowers that others gave up on, and cooking.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Betty A. Hitchens Peacock; three sons, Frank Peacock Jr. and Ivan D. Peacock, both of Millsboro, and Julian L. Peacock of Dagsboro; a daughter, Stelene Oliver of Millsboro; a brother, Starling Peacock Sr. of Millsboro; an uncle, Joseph King of Aurora, N.C.; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
Services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 3, at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 Washington St., Millsboro, where friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Gwen Ramsey,
community volunteer
Gwendolyn Louisa Collins Ramsey, 84, of Rehoboth Beach, passed away peacefully Thursday, Oct. 28, 2004, at home.
Mrs. Ramsey was born in Hazard, Ky., but her family moved to Cincinnati, Ohio, where she lived during her formative years.
Throughout her life, she enjoyed golfing, gardening, oil painting, traveling and bird watching. She often volunteered for the Red Cross, hospital guild, garden club, Girl Scouts and other causes. In her younger years, she worked for Anaconda Cable Company in San Francisco, Calif.
Born a Leo, she was a wonderful wife and mother and was valued by her family – she had a heart of gold.
Mrs. Ramsey was the beloved wife of Harold K. Ramsey; and is survived by her daughters, Amy R. Schrader of Rehoboth Beach and Janet R. Mucklow of Highland, Ill.; her grandchildren, Ramsey Schrader and his wife Alison and Andrew Schrader, Susan Wells and her husband, Timothy; Matthew and Katie Mucklow; her sisters, Evelyn Sabayrac of Juno Beach, Fla. and Mollie Sizemore of Cincinnati, Ohio; her brother, Dr. Daniel B. Collins of Columbus, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Ira Allan “Al” Garbutt III,
retired land surveyor
Ira Allan “Al” Garbutt III, 72, died suddenly Thursday, Oct. 28, 2004, in Christiana Hospital after suffering a massive stroke.
Mr. Garbutt was born in Wilmington and graduated from the University of Delaware. He was a professional land surveyor for Van de Mark & Lynch, and in 1994, retired from R.C. Peoples.
He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed outdoor hobbies; he loved playing pool with his friends at the Red Lion Inn.
He is survived by his ex-wife and friend, Carolyn Brandner; his four children, Suzanne L. Emerson and her fiancé Matthew E. Mitten of Bear, Cathy A. Hendrickson of Newark, Al and Kelli Garbutt of Lewes and Karen L. and Bill Lorah of Lewes; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Joseph Garbutt and his wife Polly of Ingleside, Texas and William Garbutt and his wife Ella of Milford; a sister, Iris Hanson and her husband Jim Dougherty of Tyaskin, Md; and his uncle, Tom Garbutt and his wife Marie of Milford.
A life celebration will be held from 6 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 3, at Beeson Memorial Services of Newark, 2053 Pulaski Highway, Fox Run. A funeral service will follow at 7 p.m., with burial held privately.

Walter George Draper Jr.,
mechanical engineer
Walter George Draper Jr., 70, of Milford, died Friday, Oct. 29, 2004, at home.
Mr. Draper was born in Harrington, the son of the late Walter George and Anna Mae Stowman Draper. He worked as a mechanical engineer at Covell Equipment Co. before retiring in 1998.
He loved to go fishing.
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, William and Mary Draper of Wyoming; three daughters and a son-in-law, Donna and Robert Cooper of Milford, Debbie Draper of Dover and Linda Draper of Milford; three grandchildren, William Draper of Wyoming and Scott Cooper and Amber Cooper, both of Milford; Erica M. Dill of Wyoming, Taylor P. Dill of Dover, Gabriel K. Dill of Wyoming and David W. Dill of Wyoming; two stepgrandchildren Ashley Dill and Robert Dill, both of Milford; his companion, Beth Lyle and his special caregiver, Bonnie Adgar.
Services were held in Pippin Funeral Home, Wyoming, with burial in Mt. Olive cemetery , Sandtown.

Jocelyn A. Harmon,
Teacher Center manager
Jocelyn A. Harmon, 64, of Millsboro, died Thursday, Oct. 28, 2004, at home.
Mrs. Harmon was born in New York City, daughter of the late Harry O. and Ada Louise Michelsen.
She worked as manager of the Teacher Center in Millsboro for the Indian River School District.
Mrs. Harmon was a member of the Conley’s Chapel United Methodist Church near Angola.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Michelsen.
She is survived by her husband, Alston Tyrone Harmon; six sons, Chris Delgado of Harbeson, Anthony Lopez of Lewes, Jason Hall and Jeff Delgado, both of New York, Raymond Lopez of Wilmington and Michael Clark of Germany; five daughters, Faith Cox, Jocelyn Delgado, Rebecca Harmon and Tynette Harmon, all of Millsboro and Lisa Clark of New Castle; three brothers, Edward Michelsen of Delmar, Shawn Michelsen of Las Vegas and Niall Michelsen of North Carolina; a sister, Louise Schrader of Lawn Valley, N.J.; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services were held in Watson Funeral Home, Millsboro, with burial private.
Jean Moore Croft,
Rehoboth summer resident
Jean Moore Croft, 80, who spent summers in Rehoboth Beach, died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2004, in Houston, Texas.
Mrs. Croft was born July 26, 1924, in Wilmington. She attended Stuart Hall Preparatory School in Staunton, Va. and graduated from Harcum Junior College in Bryn Mawr, Pa. Mrs. Croft spent every summer at the family’s beach house in Rehoboth Beach. Although Mrs. Croft spent the majority of her adult life in the south, Rehoboth Beach was always “home.”
Mrs. Croft was a member of The Junior League Tea Room, Houston Racquet Club, Retired Officers Wives Club and St. Martin’s Episcopal Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Croft, in 1977.
Mrs. Croft is survived by her children, Linda Moore Croft of Atlanta, Ga., Diane Croft Murray, Holly Croft Hardin and John W. Croft, Jr. all of Houston; and her grandchildren Laura Murray, Ryan Murray, John H. Croft, Cara Croft and William Hardin.
Services were held in the Old Church of St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, Houston, Texas. An additional funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 6, 2004 at St. George’s Chapel at Angola with burial following in the adjacent All Saints cemetery
where Mrs. Croft will be buried near her beloved hometown of Rehoboth Beach.

Thomas J. Albanese Sr.,
retired police officer
Thomas J. Albanese Sr., 67, devoted husband, loving father and Pop-Pop passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2004 in Lewes.
Formerly of Wilmington, Tom retired from the Wilmington City Police Department in 1978. He went on to retire from the DuPont Experimental Station, after 15 years of service. Until recently, he worked as a security guard at the Beebe Medical Center.
Tom enjoyed cooking for his family and friends, not to mention himself. He also loved to work in his vegetable garden. No one ever left his house without one or more of his famous dishes and a bagful of fresh vegetables from his garden. He also enjoyed fishing, crabbing and spending time with his family.
Tom was very proud of his family and his family was very proud of him. He was a great provider, a loving husband and father and the best Pop-Pop in the world. He is and always will be sadly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Pauline Albanese and his brother, John.
Tom is survived by his devoted wife of 47 years, Elvie (Morris) Albanese; his five loving children, Paula Campbell and her husband Douglas; Tom Albanese, Jr. and his wife Barbara; Susan Maynard and her husband, Doug; Fran Matthews and her husband, Bill; and Frank Albanese. In addition he is also survived by his 11 grandchildren, Nicole Cruces and her husband, Robert; Melissa, Beau and his wife, Pamela; Jennifer, Christin, Jeffrey, Michael, Andrew, Clayton, Leah, and Tamaron and his great-granddaughter, Anjoli Cruces.
A mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, Concord Pike and Sharpley Roads, Wilmington, with burial in Cathedral cemetery

Eileen ‘Kaye’ Martin,
branch manager
Eileen “Kaye” Martin, 57, of Millsboro, and formerly of Dover, went to her enternal rest Friday, Oct. 29, 2004.
Kaye was a graduate of Caesar Rodney High School and moved to Millsboro in 1994. She was the manager of the Delaware Federal Credit Union Georgetown Branch and enjoyed gardening and entertaining friends.
She was preceded in death by her loving father, Johnny Vincent.
She is survived by her loving husband, Jeff L. Martin; a daughter, Holly L. Diaz; granddaughter Amanda Kaye Diaz; her mother, Marie Graham Vincent of Wyoming; a brother and sister-in-law, John E. and Pat Vincent of Wyoming; and countless devoted friends.

Frederik Prausnitz,
acclaimed conductor
Frederik Prausnitz, 84, internationally acclaimed conductor, teacher and author, died of cancer Friday, Nov. 12, 2004, at his home in Lewes.
A native of Cologne, Germany, Mr. Prausnitz came to America in 1937. He attended Germantown Friends High School in Philadelphia, followed by the Juilliard School in New York, where he remained for nearly 20 years as associate dean and conductor.
He served as music director of the New England Conservatory Orchestra in Boston through the 60s and conductor of the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra in the early 70s. From 1976 until his retirement in 1998, he was director of the conducting program at the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore.
While building an international career as a performer, conducting many of the world’s major orchestras, he gained a reputation as a champion of modern music. He also wrote two important books, one on conducting, “Score and Podium: A Complete Guide to Conducting,” 1983, the other on the music of Roger Sessions, “Roger Sessions: How a Difficult Composer Got That Way,” 2002.
He and his wife, Margaret, fell in love with Lewes, bought their house in 1988, and enjoyed many happy years there before her death in 1999.
He is survived by daughter Maja and son-in-law Jared Hendrickson; son Sebastian; former daughter-in-law Andrea; and grandchildren Luke, Lily Mae and Emily; as well as his brother Walther Prausnitz; and beloved dog Phoebe.

Kenneth Edward Parker,
General Motors retiree
Kenneth Edward Parker, 75, of Long Neck, died Sunday, Nov. 21, 2004, at home.
Mr. Parker served in the Delaware National Guard and the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
After 28 years with the AC-Delco Division of General Motors in the Washington, D.C. and Boston, Mass. area, he retired to Millsboro with his wife Dorothy in 1989.
While living in Hampstead, N.H., he served as president of the Lions Club for two years.
More recently, he was a member of the Korean War Veterans Association and American Legion Post 28 of Oak Orchard/ Riverdale.
He was preceded in death by a son, Kim Parker, in 1993.
He is survived by his wife of 48 yers, Dorothy; two daughters, Christina Beck of Long Neck and Dana Jeanblanc and husband, Dr. William Jeanblanc, of West Bath, Me.; three grandchildren, Jason Bianchini of Wakefield, Mass., Jennifer Flewelling of Merrimack, N.H., and Oliver Beck of Long Neck; three great-grandchildren; and a brother, Ronald Wayne Parker.
