Wilson, James F.

James F. Wilson, 65, of Dover passed away Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at Kent General Hospital, Dover.

He was born on October 11, 1944 in Dover, Delaware.

James served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam.

James was working for Del Dot for the past four years and previously for Wyoming Concrete for 30 years as a foreman.

He loved going to the slots, an avid coin collector, loved harness racing. He loved his garden and also grew lima beans. His family was the love of his life.

James was a member of the United States Trotting Association.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years Gail (Davies) Wilson, a son James "Bumper" Wilson and his wife Christine of Harrington, a daughter Angel Webber and her husband John of Dover, two brothers Butch Coursey and his wife Sally of Barclay, MD, and Harry Wilson and his wife Janet of Kentucky, four sisters Debbie Walker of Clayton, Patricia Hurley and her husband James of Dover, Violet Mullins and her husband Charles of Elkton, MD and Hazell Korell of MD, a sister-in-law Dottie Wilson, six grandchildren Aaron Wilson, Tyler Greer, Ally Wilson, Alex Davis, Brittany Miller and Kaitlyn Smith.

Service will be 1 pm Friday, April 16, at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, where friends may call two hours earlier. Burial will follow at Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society, American Cancer Society, 92 Reads Way, Suite 205, New Castle, DE 19720-1633.

Nicholson, Diane Lyne

Diane Lyne Nicholson, 53, of Dover passed away Sunday, April 11, 2010 surrounded by her family in the Delaware Hospice Center, Milford.

She was born on September 20, 1956 in Dover, Delaware. She graduated from Dover High School, class of 1974.

Diane was a homemaker and enjoyed crafts and loved to flower garden. She recently discovered the joy of beading. Diane also was an avid NASCAR fan especially for Dale Earnhart, Sr, Rusty Wallace and Dale Earnhart, Jr.

Diane is survived by her fiance Glen Foster, her parents George and Mary Lou (Willis) Nicholson of Dover, and a sister Lisa L. Sitko and her husband Barry of Milford.

Visitation will be 6-8 pm Wednesday, April 14 at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming. Service will be 11 am Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover.

In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.

Moss, Paul M.

Paul "One Nut" Moss went home to be with the Lord April 10, 2010. He was at rest and went peacefully. Paul was a loving father, son, companion and friend. He enjoyed fishing, motorcycle riding and reminiscing with friends and family. Although Paul left this life at 52, he was loved and survived by many, his mother Helen Moss, daughters Autumn and Meagan DeSomma, son Justin Moss, a brother Michael Moss, companion Teresa Myers grandchildren Nautika, Elijah, Ondre, Camron, Jakai, Gavin, Amonta, Kenyon Jr., son-in-law Kenyon Sr, and close friend Dawn Cirillo and many loved ones from West Virginia to Pennsylvania. Paul will be greatly missed.

"O Lord rebuke me not in thine anger, neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure. Have mercy upon me O Lord, for I am weak O Lord heal me, for my bones are vexed. My soul is also sore vexed but thou O Lord how Long? Return O Lord, deliver my soul, oh save me for thy mercies sake for in death there is no remembrance of thee, in the grave who shall give the thanks." Psalms 6:1-6

A going home service will be held at the North Bowers Beach Fire Hall on Friday, April 16 from 4-7 pm.

Davenport, Lorraine B.

Lorraine B. Davenport, 89, of Dover passed away Wednesday, April 7, 2010 in Christiana Hospital.

She was born on May 19, 1920 in Buffalo, NY, daughter of the late Anthony and Mabel Welfert.

Lorraine enjoyed life as a homemaker.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Vernon Davenport.

She is survived by a daughter Linda Hunter of Mills River, NC, a son Greg Davenport of Dover, daughter-in-law Theresa Davenport of Dover, a sister Marlene Arlotta of Buffalo, NY, granddaughters Christine Oberheitmann of Mills River, NC, Tamara Martin of Edneyville, NC, grandsons Christopher Davenport of St. Petersburg, FL and Jeffery Davenport of Salisbury, MD and six great grandchildren.

Services and burial will be private at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.

Torain, Jerry L.

Jerry L. Torain, 56, of Frederica, went home to be with his Lord Wednesday, April 7, 2010 in the Veteran's Hospital, Elsmere.

He was born June 8, 1953 son of the late Monroe and Ethel (Scott) Torain.

Jerry served his country proudly in the U.S. Air Force and had worked most recently as a supervisor in the poultry industry for Mountaire, Millsboro.

He loved to tinker, watch and collect movies, but his greatest love was the time spent with his daughter.

Jerry is also preceded in death by brothers James Scott and Monroe Torain, Jr.

He is survived by his wife of 10 years Juanita Torain, daughter Angel Torain, a brother Raymond T. Torain, sisters Doris Austin, Frances B. Price, and Jennette Thorne.

Funeral service will be 11 am Wednesday, April 14 at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, where friends may view starting at 9 am. Burial will follow in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the funeral home.

Peterson, Harlan Edgar

Harlan Edgar Peterson of Wyoming, 77, passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at Westminster Nursing Home.

He was born March 23, 1933 in Dover, Delaware, son of the late Walter and Mattie (Morris) Peterson.

Harlan served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was employed in the grocery industry and had worked in the meat department.

He was an avid reader and enjoyed and taking care of stray cats.

Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 55 years Marjorie Peterson in 2007.

He is survived by two daughters Margie Peterson of Wyoming and Cynthia Fletcher and her husband W. Rick of Harrington and a son H. Scott Peterson and his wife Janis of Dover and a granddaughter Jennifer Peterson of Rehoboth.

Visitation will be 6-8 pm Friday, April 9 at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming.

Graveside service will be 11 am Saturday, April 10 at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Kent County S.P.C.A., 32 Shelter Circle, Camden, DE 19934.
