Florence N. (Gawarzewska) Regenauer

Age 88, daughter of the late Joseph and Nellie Gawarzewski, passed away on Tuesday, October 7, 2008 in Manor Care Nursing Home, Limestone Rd., Wilmington with her family by her side.

Florence was a cafeteria worker for Red Clay Food Service for 27 years, retiring in 1985. She had been a member of St. Hedwig Church and the Claymore Senior Center.

Her husband, William J. Regenauer passed away in July of 1977. She was also preceded in dath by her brother, Joseph (Slip) Gawarzewski She is survived by son, William J. Regenauer, Jr. and wife, Valerie; daughter, Mary Ann Thompson and husband, Edward; grandchildren, Beth Dorbich, husband, Mike, Mark Thompson, Tim Regenauer and Kristin Regenauer. The family would like to thank all of the staff at Manor Care Nursing Home for all their loving care given to Florence.

Visitation will be at the John F. Yasik Funeral Home, 607 S. Harrison St. on Friday morning, October 10, 2008 from 9-10 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 am in St. Hedwig Church, Linden and S. Harrison Sts. with entombment to follow in the Crypt of St. Elizabeth, Cathedral Cemetery.

In lie of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be sent to St. Hedwig's Twin Spire Fund, 408 S. Harrison St., Wilmington, DE 19805.

Misha M. Wynn

Misha M. Wynn of New Castle, DE, age 39, on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008 in the Christiana Hospital, Newark, DE.

Employed by the Christiana Hospital, she also served in the US Air Force from 1988 - 1992 serving in both the US and Saudi Arabia during the Gulf War.

She is survived by her mother, Rebecca Sellers of New Castle, DE; son, Steven A. Wynn of New Castle, DE, step-father, Leonard J. Robinson of Pilesgrove, NJ; 2 step-brothers, Leneric Stevens and Kenneth; grandparents, James and Elizabeth Wilson of Pilesgrove, NJ and a host of relatives and friends.

Services will be held 11 am Friday Oct. 10, 2008 at Seeds of Greatness Church, 190 Quigley Blvd., New Castle, DE. Interment, Mt. Laurel A.M.E. Church Cemetery, Yorktown, NJ.

Carlton Lycurgus Colvin, Sr. "Bud"

Age 93, of Milford, DE, died Wednesday, September 24, 2008. Services will be held in Pensacola, FL at the convenience of the family. Visitation, Saturday, Trader FH, 12 Lotus St., Dover 2-4 pm.

Elizabeth A. Ennis

Elizabeth A. Ennis, age 80, of New Castle, DE, passed away on Tuesday, September 23, 2008 at Christiana Hospital, Newark.

Mrs. Ennis was born in Chicago, IL on August 21, 1928 to the late Daniel and Elsie Keating and had been employed as a night auditor at the Fairview Inn, Wilmington, DE for over 30 years. Mrs. Ennis was a long time member of Our Lady of Fatima Church, and loved to collect antique clocks, and make floral arrangements. She especially enjoyed all types of canaries and fish.

Mrs. Ennis was preceded in death by her husband, James J. Ennis, Jr. who died in 1991; and her son, Daniel D. Ennis who died in 2001. She is survived by her sons, James J. DiFonzo, Jr. and his wife, Sara of Philadelphia, PA, Michael S. Ennis of New Castle, DE and Timothy P. Ennis and his wife, Jane of Wilmington, DE; 4 grandchildren, Sean, Tara, Krista and Danielle.

Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Bessie Carolee Wheatley Hastings

Sept. 26, 1922 - Sept. 24, 2008

At age 85, Bessie passed away peacefully Tuesday September 24, 2008 at the Methodist Manor Home in Seaford, DE. She went home to be with her husband of 50 years and many family members and friends.

She was born one of six children to Arthur Sidney and Lida Hickman Wheatley September 26, 1922. Her early years were spent in Bridgeville, DE, where her father was mayor. During the Great Depression she and her family moved to Bishops Head, MD to live with her paternal grandmother Amanda Fitzallen. During WWII she moved to the Seaford-Laurel area, worked for the Dupont Company, met and married Clyde T. Hastings, Sr. They made their home in Delmar, DE and later moved to Seaford, DE where they raised their 3 children. She was a wonderful homemaker, great cook and a meticulous housekeeper. Above all, she was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a great friend to many. She treasured the time spent with family and loved spinning yarns about life and in her early years. Bessie was funloving and never met a stranger. She especially loved to go dancing with Clyde. In the 50's she worked as a secretary in Mannings Drug Store, in the 60's for the wonderful Monoco's family restaurant and later retired from Safeway in the 80's. In retirement she was a hostess at McDonald's and Arby's greeting everyone with her warm engaging smile. Later she and Clyde started a morning coffee group at both places. They could be found Wednesday mornings with their retired friends laughing, reminiscing and talking about local and national news. At that time they also planned many road trips and the infamous cookie exchanges. She was member of the VFW and American Legion Auxiliary and the Woodland Methodist Church. In her later years she absolutely adored being a Red Hat Lady and attending all their functions.

She is preceded in death by her husband Clyde T. Hastings, Sr., brothers, Warren and Donald Wheatley, sisters, Elsie Parker and Ruth Anne Wooten and daughter-in-law, Jeanine Hastings. She is survived by brother, Calvin Wheatley and wife Ruth; daughter, Patricia Jones and husband Bud; sons, Clyde T. Hastings, Jr. and Chuck Hastings and wife Trina; grandchildren, Amy McGee and husband David, Brent Hastings and wife Rebecca, April Myer and husband Brent and Ryan, Seth and Colby Hastings; great grandchildren J.D., Aaron, Molly and Abigail McGee and Jibrael, Rahilah, Ali and Jaseena Garfield and many nieces and nephews. Bessie will be dearly missed by family and all who knew her. She was truly an angel and a child of the Lord. We know she is looking down on us with that wonderful warm smile dancing with Clyde, laughing and rejoicing with family members and friends.

The family wishes to thank all the wonderful and caring personnel at the Methodist Manor Home and Delaware Hospice.

You are invited to come and celebrate her life with us on Saturday, September 27 at 11 am at Woodland United Methodist Church, 5125 Woodland Church Rd, Woodland, DE, where friends may call from 10-11 am. Burial will be on Monday, September 29 at 11 am at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Rd, Bear, DE.

Corinne E. Heskett

Age 94, of Newark, DE passed away September 22, 2008 at Millcroft Healthcare Center.

Mrs. Heskett was born in Wilmington, DE the daughter of the late Elizabeth and Byron Biscoe. Corinne enjoyed bowling, needlecrafts and was a member of the Clayton, DE Senior Center and Century Club.

Besides her parents, Corinne was predeceased by her husband, Houston Heskett, her son, Larry Lankford, her brother, Byron, Jr., twin sisters, Elizabeth LeCates and Grace Hotmer. She is survived by her sister, Marie Santucci and her husband Tommy of Newark; her brother, Edward Biscoe and his wife, Bettie of Salisbury, MD; her devoted niece, Nancy Leonard and her husband, Clyde of Middletown as well as another niece and many nephews and their families.

The family thanks the staff of Millcroft, especially the wonderful caregivers in assisted living as well as the dedicated team from Compassionate Care.

Services will be held on Monday, September 29 at 12 noon in the Faries Funeral Home, 29 South Main Street, Smyrna, DE where friends may call one hour prior to the services. Graveside services immediately following at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Smyrna, DE.

Dollie M. Hickman

Age 85, of Ocean View, DE, passed away Tuesday September 23, 2008, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Pittsville, MD, daughter to the late Oscar and Jannie (Baker) Webb. She was a retired seamstress for the Manhattan Shirt Factory in Salisbury, MD. Dollie was a member of the New Hope Church of Willards, MD, where she sang in the choir. She also attended Mt. Pleasant Church in Willards. She loved music, dancing, and sports. She enjoyed attending dog and horse races in Florida.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Carroll Edward Powell in 1968; her sister, Alma Jones in 2005; and brother, William Webb in 2006.

She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Lloyd H. "Billo" Hickman; two sisters, Mazie H. Pruitt of Delmar, DE, Elizabeth Hudson of Laurel, DE; a granddaughter, Dawn Powell Hudson; two great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Sunday September 28, at 2 pm, at the chapel of MELSON FUNERAL SERVICES on West Avenue in Ocean View, where friends may call after 1 pm. Burial will be in Mariner's Bethel Cemetery in Ocean View.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contribution in Dollie's memory to Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE. 19963.

Julia Ann Hudson

Of Delmar, MD, died September 23, 2008. Services, Saturday, September 27, 1 pm, William AME Church, Newark, DE. Visitation, Friday, 6-8 pm, Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Seaford, DE and Saturday, 11 am-1 pm at the church.

Clara Elizabeth Hutchinson

Clara Elizabeth Hutchinson, of Wilmington DE, died Friday September 19, 2008 at the Wilmington Hospital, Wilmington, DE.

She was the wife of the late Raymond "Kelly" J. Hutchinson who died in 1993. Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late James and Etta Hackett. Clara was a graduate of the Pierce Business College of Philadelphia. Upon her graduation, she was a stenographer, as well as working in other capacities for the Shriver Bartlett Company of Philadelphia. Clara and her late husband lived in New Brunswick, NJ, where she carried out office work for the Red Cross, then lived in Louisville, KY where she became a member of the Community Chest and New Comers Club. She later moved to Kennett Square, and was a member both the Kennett Square Country Club and the DuPont Country Club. Some of her hobbies included sports, especially basketball and horse racing and she was an avid bridge player, playing in many tournaments.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Memorial Service 12 noon Monday September 29, 2008 at the DELLAVECCHIA, REILLY, SMITH & BOYD FUNERAL HOME, INC. 410 N. Church St. West Chester, PA (610-696-1181) www.drsfh.com. Visitation will be held from 11 am until the time of the service Monday. Interment Union Hill Cemetery Kennett Square, PA.
