Halfen, Sr., John M.

John M. Halfen, Sr. passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2013 in Kent General Hospital. He was 83.

He was born on February 24, 1930 in Boothwyn, Pennsylvania, son of the late Peter and Florence Kelley Halfen.

John served his country proudly in the U.S. Army and then spent many years managing an oil delivery company and retired from Brooks Carrier and Armored Car Service as a manager.

He was a lifetime member of the Little Creek Fire Dept, a member of the Camden-Wyoming Moose Lodge and the American Legion. He also was a current member of the Silver Lake Fishing Club.

John is preceded in death by his parents, a son John M. Halfen, Jr, grandson John M. Halfen III, brothers Charles, Harvey, Marvin, Frank, Paul, Pete, Bill and Walter Halfen, sisters Mildred Halfen, Florence Appel, brothers-in-law Richard Morgan, Emerson Appel, Ray Calloway and stepson Michael Czyzyk.

He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years Shirley Halfen, stepson Bill Robinson, grandchildren Heather Halfen, Amber Robinson, Brittany Halfen, Brian Robinson, great grandchildren Destiny Halfen, Cheyenne Halfen, Bentley Barr, Miranda McNatt, step children Bill Robinson, Terri, Patty and Lisa Ellison, sister Katherine Morgan, brothers Ralph and his wife Joan, Harry and his wife Betty, brother-in-law James Ross and his wife Betty, sisters-in-law Barbara Calloway and Frances Gingerich and her husband Enos, special cousins John Bartsch and Jeff Bartsch, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many loving friends.

Visitation will be 6-8 pm Sunday, April 28 at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming.

Service will be 11:00 am Monday, April 29 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Lincoln Cemetery, Lincoln.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Little Creek Fire Company, P.O. Box 327, Little, Creek, DE 19961 or Home of the Brave, 6632 Sharps Rd., Milford, DE 19963 or Silver Lake Fishing Club, 1111 Crystal Rd., Hartly, DE 19953.

Zeoli, John

John Zeoli, 71, passed suddenly on Sunday, April 28th with his family by his side. His family knew him for his caring heart, generosity, and easy going spirit. John is survived by his wife Carol Zeoli, daughter Joanne Willits and her husband Todd Willits, , Alicia Zeoli, Christine Zeoli, and his two grandchildren Ben and Isabelle Willits. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, May 3 at Holy Cross Church in Dover, DE at 12:00pm. Memorial Service to be held at 2:00 pm on May 10th at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear, Delaware. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Shepherd Place, 1362 S. Governors Ave., Dover, DE 19904.

William W. "Bill" Eisenbrey, Sr.

Age 81, of Milford, passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at Bayhealth Milford Memorial Hospital.

Bill was born on April 11, 1932 in Dover, son of the late John C., Sr. and Mary (Warner) Eisenbrey.

He was a veteran of the United States Army serving his country proudly during the Korean Conflict.

Mr. Eisenbrey was employed as a surveyor with the U.S.D.A. for 42 years, from where he retired in 1990. That same year, he accepted a job with the Kent County Soil Conservation Service and retired from that position in 2000.

He was a long time member of the Milford Lions Club, holding the office of 1st Vice President from 67-68 and President from 68-69. Bill was also a member of the American Legion Post #3 in Milford, the AARP, the National Assoc of Retired Employees, the National Assoc of Retired Soil Conservation Service Employees, the Delmarva Assoc of Retired Soil Conservation Service Employees, the Soil and Water Conservation Society, Pocomoc Chapter, and the International Erosion Control Assoc.

Bill was a member of the Avenue United Methodist Church in Milford, where he was active with the Methodist Men.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Winnifred L. Eisenbrey, a brother, John Eisenbrey, a sister, Eleanor Eisenbrey, a grandson, Charles McDowell, and a son-in-law, John C. Robinson.

He is survived by a son, William W. Eisenbrey, Jr. and his wife Lois of Middletown; three daughters, Karen L. Robinson of Lancaster, PA, Mary Beth Eisenbrey, and Leslie G. Eisenbrey, both of Dover; a brother, Wayne E. Eisenbrey of Milford; two grandchildren, Jason Robinson, and Stephanie Money and her husband Mike; and four great-grandchildren, Charlee Ann McDowell, Jackson McDowell, Keegan Money, and Caroline Money.

Friends may call from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. on Monday, April 29, 2013 at Rogers Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Ave, Milford.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at the funeral home.

Burial with military honors will follow the service at the Milford Community Cemetery, Route 113.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions to the American Diabetes Assoc of Delaware, 100 W. 10th St, Suite 1002, Wilmington, DE, 19801 or the Milford Lions Club, P.O. Box 25, Milford, DE, 19963.

Dolan, Thomas W

Thomas W. Dolan, of Frederica, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2013 in his home. He was 59.

Thomas was born, November 6, 1953, in El Paso, Texas, to the Late- William & Anna (Bielawne) Dolan. He worked as a service technician for 35 years, for George & Lynch, Dover. Thomas enjoyed watching Nascar, and football, especially his beloved Dallas Cowboys.

In addition to his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Dolan.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Donna (Luff) Dolan; son- David Dolan, of Milford; daughter- Donna Dolan, of Dover; grandsons, Keiondre & Tavian Smith, of Dover, and Walker Dolan, of Milford; a niece, Diana Dolan-Beulah & her husband- Mike, of Felton; a nephew, Cameron Beulah; aunt, Shirley Burd, of Dover; and beloved friend, Charles Jones & family, of Frederica.

Viewing will be held Monday, May 13, 2013 from 6 to 8 pm, in the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 West Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming. Funeral Services will be 11am Tuesday, May 14, 2013, in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Barratts Chapel Cemetery, Frederica.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the funeral home to help with expenses.

Patricia A. Gregg

Age 83, of Milford, passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford.

Pat was born on July 20, 1929 in Milford to the late Ralph E. and Elizabeth (Patterson) Mills.

She was employed for several years at separate times as a secretary with the L.D. Caulk Co. in Milford, and then as a receptionist in the dental office of Dr. Edward Hendel in Milford. Pat was lastly employed as a secretary for Litzenberg Realty in Maryland, where she remained for 15 years before retiring.

Pat enjoyed sewing, Jazzercise, gardening, going to the beach, and most of all spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 20 years, H. Scott Gregg and her brother, Ralph E. Mills, Jr.

She is survived by three sons and three daughters; Stephen W. Short and his wife Dianne, Susan Chambers, Scott D. Short, Sheree Furr and her husband Danny, Stuart J. Short and his wife Allyson, and Stacey S. Barcola and her husband Anthony; 12 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.

Services and burial will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that contributions in Pat's memory be made to the Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE, 19963.

Arrangements handled by Rogers Funeral Home, Milford.

Backus, Doris

Doris C. Backus, 89, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at Bayhealth Medical Center in Dover. She was born September 30, 1923 in Wyoming, Delaware to the late Roy and Mildred Sudler. She was a member of Central Baptist Church and had a deep love for her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Backus, granddaughter, Carolyn Reid, and great-grandson, Kyle Reid. She is survived by a sister, Dorothy Evans of Dover, a brother, Orville (Ruth) Sudler of Wyoming, daughters and son-in-laws, Carolyn (Lennox) Permell of New Castle, DE; Mildred (Charles) Gatson of Dover, DE; Diane (George) McDaniels of Vineland, NJ; Rev. Valerie Smith of Dover, DE; and Stephanie (Dennis) Mitchell of Papillion, NE; 6 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, one aunt, two nephews and a host of relatives and friends.

Viewing will be 9-11am, service at 11am on Monday, May 13, 2013 at First Baptist Church of Cheswold, 291 Rose Bowl Road, Dover, DE.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to the Alzheimer's Foundation, Delaware Valley Chapter Headquarters, 399 Market Street, Suite 102, Philadelphia, PA 19106.

Roblee, Ernest

Ernest Roblee, 89, passed away peacefully in the presence of his family on April 27, 2013.

He was born October 13, 1923 in LeRoy, NY. He was a WWII veteran and was an employee of General Foods and a part-time plumber. He moved with the plant to Dover. He also was active in the harness racing business.

Ernest is survived by his wife of 67 years known to everyone as Connie, four daughters Kathleen (Bob) Schmidt, Susan (Everett) Bickling, Cynthia (Jack) Baker and Christine Roblee, five grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Services will be private for family.
