Pietrucha, Genevieve "Millie" E.

After a long and fulfilling life of 85 years, Genevieve E. (Millie) Pietrucha, departed this world on October 25, 2010. Born on June 30, 1925 in Jersey City, New Jersey to Alexander and Emily Grodek, she was one of six children. She married Theodore Stephen Pietrucha, an Air Force Sergeant, in 1953 and raised four children in Forestville, Maryland where she lived for 50 years. Five years ago, Millie moved to Smyrna, Delaware with her oldest daughter and son-in-law.

Millie is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sister Helen Lesko; three brothers, John, Alexander, and Stanley Grodek; and her niece, Diane Lesko.

Millie loved to spend time with the children in her life and leaves behind her four children, Joyce Tolson, of Smyrna; Theodore Pietrucha Jr., of Upper Marlboro, MD; Elaine Pietrucha, of Smyrna; and David Pietrucha, of Forestville, MD; four grandchildren, Robert Tolson; Amanda (Tolson) Grasmick; Theodore Pietrucha III; Timothy Pietrucha; five great-grandchildren, Nichole Miller; Brendan Tolson; Victoria Tolson; Cody Kidwell; Donny Grasmick; one great-great-grandson, Tyler Kidwell; several nieces and nephews and many other children who loved her; her brother, Henry Grodek and his wife Chris; a sister-in-law, Eleanor Barnosky; a son-in-law, Ronald Tolson; and two daughters-in-law, Larua Pietrucha, and Susan Pietrucha.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday October 30, 2010 from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna, DE. Following visitation, on Saturday a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:30 PM at St. Polycarp Catholic Church, 135 Ransom Lane, Smyrna, DE.

Millie will be buried next to her husband, who died in 1978, at Resurrection Cemetery, Upper Marlboro, Maryland at a later date.

Walter Lynn Blose Jr. - Retired Engineer

Walter Lynn Blose Jr., 73, of Smyrna, DE and formerly of Moylan, PA, was received by our LORD on Sunday April 18 at home with his family.

Born and raised in Barberton, Ohio, he graduated from the University of Akron School of Engineering. He retired from Sun Oil Refinery in Philadelphia. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family.

His wife, Janice Blose, died in 1994.

He is survived by his mother, Ida Blose and a sister Norma Jodoin and husband Robert, all of Barberton, OH; two sons Jason Blose and wife Kim, of Smyrna, DE and Garrett Blose, of Dover, DE; a daughter, Candice Bull and husband Douglas, of Parkside, PA; and 6 grandchildren, Liam, Rachael, Austin, Shane, Andrew, and Michael.

Private Services will be held in Barberton, OH.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the U.S.O., 500 Purple Heart Way, Dover AFB, Delaware 19902.

Arrangements are by Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Smyrna.

FRANK T. KNOTTS, 80

Smyrna - Frank T. Knotts, 80, of Smyrna, passed away Thursday, July 8, 2010, at home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on August 15, 1929 in Cheswold, DE, son of the late Walter B. and Clara A. Knotts.

He retired from the Port of Wilmington, as a crane operator in 1996 after 29 years. After retiring, he enjoyed working part time at Willis Auto Mall in Smyrna. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and camping with his friends. He will be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and a caring friend to all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by twin son and daughter David A. and Beverly A. Knotts; four brothers, William, George, James, and Ernest Knotts and one sister Mildred Brittingham.

He is survived by his wife, Betty June Knotts; three children, Frank B. Knotts and wife Pam; Rosemary Mast and husband Dave; Frannie Barker and husband Chuck, all of Smyrna; two grandchildren, Chas Barker and wife Angie, of Dover; Robbie Barker of Smyrna, four step-grandchildren Davey Ann Davis and husband Robert of Clayton, Chrissy Mast of Dover, Steve Mast of Phila. PA; Brian Mast and wife Jill of Smyrna; five great-grandchildren; Kiara, Ethan, Gabe, Alana and Sophia Barker, all of Dover; four step-great-grandchildren, Kaylee and Kolbey Davis, of Clayton; Brian Jr. and Lukas Mast of Smyrna; sister Anna Strimel, of Dover; brother Ralph Knotts and wife Mary Ellen, of Magnolia; sister in law Betty Knotts, of Dover and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday July 13 at the Smyrna Wesleyan Church, 433 W. Commerce St., Smyrna. Friends may call Monday evening from 6-8:00 PM at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna. Friends may also call at the church at 10:00 AM Tuesday morning. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Smyrna.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Delaware Hospice Inc., 911 S. DuPont Highway, Dover, DE 19901 or the charity of your choice.

Guertin, Patricia E. "Tricia"

Patricia "Tricia" E. Guertin (nee Burns), 45, of Smyrna, died on Thursday October 7, 2010.

Tricia was a graduate of the Clarke School for the Deaf in Northampton, MA, and a graduate of the Amherst Regional High School in Amherst, MA. She also attended Greenfield Community College in Greenfield, MA. She was employed in many fields over her brief lifetime, but was most satisfied when she was able to utilize her artistic and creative talents. Tricia was a member and participated in many organizations for the advancement of people with disabilities. She possessed an enviable and childlike belief in her GOD and looked for the good in everyone she met.

Tricia was preceded in death by her father, John F. Burns.

She will be greatly missed by her mother, Patricia Burns (nee Leonard). She loved and was loved in return by her large and close family of aunts, uncles, cousins, and a wide and varied array of friends. Her physical presence will be missed but her spirit will remain in all who knew her.

A Memorial Mass will be offered at 11:00 AM Saturday October 16, at St. Polycarp Catholic Church, Ransom Lane and South St., Smyrna.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be sent to the Clarke School for the Deaf, Round Hill Road, Northampton, MA 01060.

Jennings, Robert W.

Robert W. Jennings, age 63, of Middletown, passed away January 9th 2011 at home surrounded by his loving family. Growing up he played baseball for Willow Run Little League. At 18, he started work at GM Boxwood Road plant, and after 32 years of service he retired. He enjoyed playing pool at the VFW and the Moose Lodge where he was a long time member. He loved to hunt, fish, and he looked forward to going hunting and camping every year with his son and grandson at the start of deer season in his motor home. He liked country music and would sing and dance along with the radio. After his retirement he enjoyed working around the house and cutting grass on his 2-acre property. He also enjoyed having 5 o'clock somewhere with his wife and daughter. He was well liked by all of his friends and loved dearly by all his family. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was always very supportive of his family. He had a great sense of humor and made us all laugh right up to the day he passed. He will be dearly missed by all.

He was preceded in death by his parents Robert M. Jennings and his mother Dorothy M. Jennings. He is Survived by his Wife of 44 years, Diane E. Jennings, His son Robert W. Jennings Jr., and his girlfriend Marlene Wade, Daughter Bonnie L. Jennings, and her boyfriend Tom Merritt, and Seven Grandchildren, Justin A. Jennings, Kaitlyn E. Jennings, Jessica M. Jennings, Sarah N. Jennings, Ryan Merritt, David B. Wade, Hannah P. Wade, Sister Linda George, Nephew Raymond George, Brother in-law Robert L. Eskridge and his wife Ellen, Brother in-law Horace R Eskridge and his wife Deena.

Services will be held 12:00 PM Saturday January 15 at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna, where friends may call at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Old Drawyers Cemetery, Odessa.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center, 4701 Ogletown-Stanton Rd., Newark, DE 19713.

Mitchell Jr., James L.

James L. Mitchell Jr., of Smyrna, died Saturday May 8, 2010 at Silver Lake Center in loving care of staff and family at the age of 80. He was preceded in death in 2005 by the love of his life Corinne J. Mitchell after 58 years of marriage.

Mr. Mitchell was the son of the late James L. Mitchell Sr. and Edith E. Mitchell. He was a farmer for many years before becoming a member of the Teamsters #326 where he was a mechanic for Anchor Motor Freight from which he retired. He was a member of the Lebanon Wesleyan Church and the American Quarter Horse Association and continued to enjoy his horse throughout his declining health.

He is survived by his two daughters, Connie Lee O'Neal, of Grandy, NC and Wanda J. and husband Marvin Shorter, of Seaford, DE; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, Michael and wife Jennifer Shorter, of Bear, DE with Cole, Aiden and Leah; Jessica and husband Colin Macdonald, of Port Washington, NY with Abigail; and Emily and husband David Williams, of Seaford, DE with Bruin.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers-in-law, Marion and Joe Kawulok, of Tucson, AZ, and William Lewis, of Smyrna, DE, and a sister-in-law, Ann Mitchell, of Smyrna, DE. He has been lovingly attended and cared for by his brothers and sister, Sammy and Diane Mitchell, Bobby Mitchell and companion Emma Snyder, Ruth Lewis and friend Henry Tiemann, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Services will be held 1:00 PM Thursday May 13 at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna, DE, where friends may call Wednesday evening from 7-9:00 PM.

Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Smyrna.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Lebanon Wesleyan Church, 1138 Sorghum Mill Rd., Dover, DE 19901.

Faulkner Jr., Nelson F.

Nelson F. Faulkner Jr., passed away on December 28, 2010. He was 74.

He was born and raised in Crumpton, MD, the son of the late Nelson and Evelyn Teat Faulkner.

He is survived by four children, Karen Piser; Kipp Faulkner; Debbie Biederman; and Neil Faulkner; a brother, James Faulkner; and nine grandchildren.

Services and interment will be privately held at Crumpton Cemetery, Crumpton, MD.

Arrangements are by Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Smyrna.
