Marie W. Willard, 84, of Newark, died Monday, April 11, 2005, at Manor Care Health Services, Wilmington.
She was born in Lewes, the daughter of the late Edward Warrington and Marsha Simpler Warrington and was a homemaker. She was a member of Faith Presbyterian church in Wilmington.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick, in 1985, and daughter, Jean Streeper, in 2004.
She is survived by a son, William “Mike” Suthard and his wife, Cheryl, of Wilmington; a brother-in-law, Jack Luzzie; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 12:30 p.m., Saturday, April 16, at Bethel Methodist cemetery , Lewes. Friends may call from 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, April 16, at the chapel of Melson Funeral Services, Long Neck Road.
Erin Keegan Coleman,
loyal, hard working
Erin Keegan Coleman, joined her beloved Dad, Thomas F. Keegan in heaven Monday, April 11, 2005.
Erin will be greatly missed by her good friends and family: Erin’s precious daughter, Lydia Keegan Sweetney; her love, Bernard Sweetney; her mother, Adele S. Keegan; her twin brother, R. Michael Keegan, and their families; her friends, sisters at heart, Syndee, Michelle and Jamie and their families; and her closest friends, D.K., Daria, Peg, Anne, Prudence and their families.
Erin’s family gives heartfelt thanks to her doctors and staff at Beebe Medical Center and the Tunnell Cancer Center, especially Isabel, and to Delaware Hospice.
Erin was always loyal, hard working and fun loving. She always said, “Lydia is the best thing I ever did.” Erin loved the sun and the beach. A celebration of Erin’s life will be held on the beach at a later date.

Makiya Jade Jennings
Makiya Jade Jennings of Georgetown died Friday, April 8, 2005, in her home. She was 17 months.
Mikiya was born in Christiana Hospital, Newark, daughter of Brandon N. Elmandorf and Elizabeth A. Jennings, both of Georgetown.
She is survived by her parents, Brandon N. Elmandorf and Elizabeth A. Jennings, both of Georgetown; her maternal grandparents, Stacey and David Frantz of Georgetown; her paternal grandparents, Aggie and Thurman Batson of Milton; her paternal great-grandmother, Barbara Elmandorf of Milton; her maternal great-grandmother, Patsy LeCates of Laurel; and her maternal grandfather, Rocky LeCates.
Friends may call from 1 to 1:30 p.m. today in the Watson Funeral Home, 211 Washington St., Millsboro.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. today in the Woodlawn Memorial Park, DuPont Highway, Millsboro.
H. Allen Bawel Sr.,

H. Allen Bawel Sr. of Bridgeville died Tuesday, April 12, 2005, in Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, Seaford. He w as 58.
Mr. Bawel was born July 29, 1946, in Greenwood, son of the late Orrie and Anna Mae Tennefoss Bawel.
He was a carpenter, and he owned H. Allen Bawel & Sons in Greenwood.
Mr. Bawel enjoyed being around his grandchildren, doing woodworking, hunting, fishing and just being outside.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Massey.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Joyce Smith Bawel; four children and their spouses, Wanda Wayne White of Milton, H. Allen Bawel Jr. and his fiancée, Desa, both of Greenwood, Tammy Bawel and her fiancé, Norman Heim, both of Greenwood and Keith and Heather Bawel of Laurel; two brothers, Daniel Bawel of Greenwood and Philip Bawel of Millsboro; three sisters, Lucy Millaway of Greenwood, Anna Joseph and Vivian Smith, both of Bridgeville; 10 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Robert M. Walker

Robert M. Walker, 67, of Lincoln, died Tuesday, April 12, 2005, at Milford Memorial Hospital. He was born in Wilmington, the son of the late William and Betty (Kimble) Walker.
Robert was a coordinator for Dry Dock Transportation in Angola; a member of Lewes Radio Controlled Airplane Club; and a 14-year member of AA.
There are no immediate survivors.
A memorial service will be held on at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, at the chapel of Melson Funeral Services on Long Neck Road in Millsboro. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to Dry Dock Inc., c/o Pat Montz, 104 Edwards Way, Lewes, DE 19958.

for Geneva P. Morris
The life of long-time Lewes resident, Geneva Pepper Morris, who died in Minnesota March 5, 2005, at the age of 92, will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Friday, April 29, at Bethel United Methodist Church, Fourth Street in Lewes.
Interment of her ashes will be at Coolspring Presbyterian Church cemetery
at 9:30 a.m., April 29.
Mrs. Morris is survived by a daughter, Nicki Carlsten and husband, Rolf; a daughter, Emilie Fitch and husband, Dean; and son, Jack and wife, Laura; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
A scholarship in her honor has been established for a female Cape Henlopen High School graduate who will study business. Memorial can be given to the Geneva Pepper Morris Scholarship Fund.
Susan Gail Kintz,

Susan Gail Kintz, 24, of Philadelphia, died Saturday, April 9, 2005, at the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center following surgery.
Susan was born in Lewes, daughter of Anna Faye (Doughty) Kintz and the late James George Kintz.
She was a graduate of Cape Henlopen High School and had been employed as the manager of Ethnics Jewelry Store on South Street in Philadelphia for five years. She was very artistic and a free-spirited person. She loved animals and was a member of the PETA organization.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, James Edward Doughty.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her sister, Alice Faye Kintz of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands; her brother, Harry James Kintz of Lewes; a niece, Megan Bedo of Millsboro; a great-nephew, Jayden Figueroa; and her beloved dog, Patch.
Services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 16, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes. Friends may call one hour before the service. Interment will follow at Bethel United Methodist cemetery , Lewes.

Florence M. “Toddi” Legg,

Florence M. “Toddi” Legg, 73, of Laurel, died Sunday, April 10, 2005, in New Castle.
Mrs. Legg was born in Chestertown, Md. on April 1, 1932, the daughter of the late John Vincent and Grace Gears Mench. She was a graduate of Chestertown High School and in 1951, married Arthur K. “A.K.” Legg. They resided in Chestertown, where she worked as a nurse’s aide with Chester River Hospital Center until 1968 when they moved to Wilmington. There she worked as a nurse’s aide at St. Francis Hospital and later as a private duty child care provider. Following Mr. Legg’s retirement, they moved to Lewes.
She loved needlework, crafting, gardening and was an avid fan of both Jeff Gordon and the Baltimore Orioles. Some of the best times of her life were spent with her husband, walking and fishing off of Hoss’s Pier in Lewes.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 2001.
She is survived by a son, Arthur Legg III and his wife Candy of Newark; two daughters, Terry L. Feret and her husband Tom of Laurel and Ellen L. Faries and her husband Dave of Middletown; a sister, Frances Welch of Centreville, Md.; five grandchildren, Kim, Tom Jr., Tim, Tiffany and D.K., along with three great-grandchildren, Zander, Tiffany and William.
Services were held at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, Chestertown, with burial in Chester cemetery.

Harry R. Uhl,

Harry R. Uhl, 70,, of Millsboro and formerly of Philadelphia, Pa., died Tuesday, April 12, 2005, at home.
Mr. Uhl was a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus Council 11285 and a member of Mary, Mother of Peace Catholic Church in Oak Orchard, where he served as an Eucharistic Minister.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Marie T. Bretschneider Uhl; a son, Harry R. Uhl Jr. and his wife, Sherri; two daughters, Deborah Guerrera and her husband, Bart, and Marie Dulin and her husband, William; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Harry was cremated and a Memorial Mass will be held at noon, Friday, April 15, at Mary, Mother of Peace Catholic Church, Route 24, Oak Orchard, where friends may call at 11 a.m.

Michael F. Dollar,

Michael Francis Dollar, 79, of Millsboro, passed into heaven Sunday, April 10, 2005.
He was the son of the late Michael and Apolonia Dollar of Central City, Pa.
Mr. Dollar served in England during WWII. He graduated from Xavier University in 1950. He retired as comptroller for Hub Fabrication where he retired in 1990 after 13 years. He then moved with his wife, Eva, to Millsboro, DE. where he was an active member of the Millsboro Senior Center and the American Legion Post 28.
Michael will be sorely missed by his loving wife, Eva; and his daughters: Susan Brown, Michele Ogle, Cheryl Dollar and Virginia Dollar. He was also loved by his grandchildren: Melissa, Jennifer, Joshua, David, Kyle, John, Bob, and Greg and his five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his daughter, Mary Jean Veca.

Melvin L. Joseph Sr.,

Melvin L. Joseph Sr., 83, of Georgetown, died suddenly Wednesday, April 6, 2005, in his Georgetown business.
Mr. Joseph was the son of the late Harry and Ella Mae Joseph. In 1940, with only a sixth-grade education, sheer determination and hard work, he took one dump truck and a shovel and turned them into a multifaceted business empire. He was the founder, owner and operator of Melvin L. Joseph Construction Co. Inc., since 1940 and of M.L. Joseph Sand and Gravel, founded in 1990. His first big contract was in 1949 when he also became a partner in the Georgetown Ford dealership. He declared 49 his lucky number and his license number, license plates, airplanes, horses and race cars all contained the number 49. He was responsible for paving the majority of the roads in Sussex County, the expansion of Summit Airport and overseeing many projects locally and abroad. Under contract for the Army Corps of Engineers, he led the rebuilding of Delaware beaches after the storm of 1962. His love of construction led to the development of projects such as Mariner’s Cove, Lake View Estates, Oakmont Estates and Woodlawn Memorial cemetery . He was involved in the daily operations of his business until his death. Mr. Joseph had many other interests, including auto racing, horse racing, treasure hunting and aviation. He was a pioneer in the development of NASCAR. His passion for racing began on the back roads of Sussex County in his souped-up Mercurys which led to the beaches of Daytona. In 1959, his car won the race by an amazing three miles in the first NASCAR Modified race on the new Daytona International Speedway. Another racing highlight included owning one of the cars that Bobby Allison drove to many victories. He designed and built Dover Downs International Speedway and gave drivers the command to start their engines at every NASCAR Nextel Cup race in Dover since 1969. He originally was appointed to the board of what was then Dover Downs Inc., in that same year. At the time of his death he served on the board for Dover Motorsports Inc., as vice president and director of auto racing. He also served on the board of directors for Dover Downs Gaming and Entertainment Inc. He also designed the Nashville Super Speedway and served as a consultant for the construction of that track for Dover Motorsports Inc. Additionally he oversaw the 1994 repaving project at Dover International Speedway that transformed the asphalt into the current concrete surface. His many accomplishments led to his induction into the Delaware Sports Museum Hall of Fame.
His love of horses led to the creation of his state-of-the-art horse training facility in Georgetown. His sense of adventure led him to offshore salvage work. In the mid—1970s, he teamed up with treasure hunter Mel Fisher. Mr. Joseph financed the expedition that led to the discovery of the Nuestra Senora de Atocha, a Spanish galleon that sank in 1622 off the Florida Keys. His yielded one of the greatest discoveries of sunken Spanish treasures in the world. A portion of his share is on display at the Treasures of the Sea Exhibit at Del Tech in Georgetown.
Mr. Joseph was made an honorary staff officer in 1979, due to his unselfish dedication to the Delaware State Police and Camp Barnes. He also received an honorary associate degree in applied science from Del Tech.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Pearl Joseph; and two sisters, Hilda Pettyjohn and Janie Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Ruthi Adams Joseph; two daughters and a son-in-law, Joe Ann Adams of Georgetown and Virginia and Richard Kauffman of Las Vegas; a son, Melvin L. Joseph Jr. of Long Neck; four grandsons, Landreth C. Adams III of Seaford, Kenneth P. Adams and his wife, Tracy, of Millsboro, Kirk Lawson and his wife, Mary, of Georgetown, and Kris Lawson of Millsboro; two granddaughters, Jennifer Campbell and her husband, Chad, of Millsboro, and Marti Lewis of Ellendale; and two great-granddaughters, Renee Adams of Laurel and Peyton Campbell of Millsboro.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Tuesday, April 12, in his personal aircraft hangar located behind Melvin Joseph Construction Co. Services will be 2 p.m., Tuesday, in the hangar. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial cemetery , Millsboro.

Harry F. Fort,,

Harry Franklin Fort, 77, of Bridgeville, died Friday, April 8, 2005, at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford.
Mr. Fort was born in Arlington, VA. He had been employed as a truck driver for Brinks Transport for 32 years, retiring in 1985. He was a member of Post 6 American Legion, Seaford, the Marshy Hope Gun Club, and the NRA. He enjoyed target practice. Mr. Fort had served in the U. S. Navy during WWII.
He was predeceased by his parents, the late John Fort and Viola (Rock) Fort.
He is survived by his wife, Norma (Whitlock) Fort; a daughter, Beverly A. Fort of Bridgeville; a son, John F. Fort of Newburg, Md.; three sisters, Viola Smith of Deal, Md; Jeane Holtery of Deal, Md., and Pat Wilson of Mississippi; a brother-Ted Fort of Milton; and six grandchildren.
Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Hardesty Chapel, 202 Laws Street, Bridgeville, where a Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 16, with Rev.
