Sager, Robert Winchell

Robert Winchell Sager, 82

Dover - Robert Winchell Sager of Dover passed away Saturday, November 6, 2010 in his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on Aug. 30, 1928 in Appleton, Wisconson, the son of Francis and Alta Sager. Robert is survived by his wife of 8 years, Gisela Sager, also of Dover, his son Phil Sager and his Wife Mary Alice of Columbus, Ohio, his daughter Leslie Stephany and her husband John of Madison, Wisconson, and his son Win Sager and his wife Lesley of Madison, Wisconson. He also had two grandchildren, Nina Eddy, and Duncan Stephany.

Service will be held on Thursday Nov. 11, at the Grace Presbyterian Church, 350 McKee Rd, Dover; where friends may gather for a time of family greeting beginning at 1pm followed by a memorial service at 2pm.

Marie M. Paglia, 86

Rehobooth Beach - Marie M. Paglia, of Rehobooth Beach, was called home to the Lord Tuesday, November 9, 2010.

She was born on Nov. 18, 1923 in Manhatten, New York, the Daughter of Anthony and Josphine Rizzolo. Marie is preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Paglia, and is survived by her children, Larry Brassell, Bobbie J. Niccoluccy, and Susan M. Gordon; as well as two grandchildren, Dawn and Denise. No services are currently scheduled.

Fairbanks, James T.

James T. Fairbanks of Dover passed away Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at Heartland Hospice House, Wilmington. He was 66.

James was born on April 17, 1944 in Columbus, Ohio. For most of his life he was a bill collector.

He was a member of MENSA, and an Eagle Scout.

His hobby included treasure hunting and was an avid fisherman.

He is preceded in death by his father James E. Fairbanks.

James is survived by his mother Mary J. Fairbanks of Columbus, Ohio, former wife Jeanne Fairbanks of Dover, daughter Staci K. Gomes and her husband Vince of Dover, three grandchildren Amber Dawn Lampkins, Autumn Lampkins and T. Daniel Lampkins all of Dover, two brothers Ronald Fairbanks and his wife Karen of Marathon, FL, Terry Fairbanks and his wife Georgie of Las Vegas, NV, sister-in-law Patty Olienecka and her husband John of Columbus, Ohio,

A graveside service will be 2:30 pm Thursday, November 11 at Barratt's Chapel Cemetery, Frederica.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society, 92 Reads Way, Suite 205, New Castle, DE 19720-1633.

French, Grace M.

Grace M. French of Dover died peacefully in her home on November 8th, 2010. She was 84. Grace Marie French was a devoted wife, homemaker and mother of four. She was born on June 14th, 1926 in Milwaukee Wisconsin, and spent her earlier years in Springfield, Ill. She married Robert French in 1947, a marriage which would last 59 years until her husband's death in 2006. While her husband Bob was earning an Engineering degree at the University of Cincinnati, Grace was a candy stripe volunteer at a local hospital, an experience she would treasure for the rest of her life. While raising a family In Springfield, she was a realtor, president of the PTA and an active member Westminster Presbyterian Church. After moving to Dover, Delaware in 1971 she and Bob were active in Whatcoat United Methodist Church. Grace continued her volunteer work in Dover as a Scout Leader, Junior Board Member and a clerk in the Peninsula United Methodist Conference. Grace became a special friend to everyone she met and will be dearly missed by anyone who's life she touched.

Grace was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and mother-in-law. She is survived by her four children Doug French and his wife Chieko of Spartanburg, SC, Randy French and his wife Jan of Cincinnati, OH, Julie French of Dover, and Kevin French and his wife Kelly of Marietta, GA, grandchildren Jenni Davis and her husband Ty of Williamsfield, IL, Brittany French of Spartanburg, SC, Katie Hansen and her husband Ryan of Columbus OH, and Trevor Loescher of Dover, great grandson Liam Davis, and a cousin Pauline Dorobalia of Chicago, IL. Grace was fortunate to have her special caregivers from Home Instead Senior Care who played an important role in her life for the past two years.

Services will be Friday, November 12, 2010 at 2:30 pm at Whatcoat United Methodist Church, 16 N. Main Street, Camden, where friends may call one hour prior. Burial will be in Barratt's Chapel Cemetery, Frederica.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Whatcoat United Methodist Church, 16 N. Main St., Camden, DE 19934, or Delaware Hospice, 911 South DuPont Highway Dover, DE 19901.

Swartz, Florence A.

Florence A. Swartz of Wyoming passed away Friday, November 5, 2010 in Kent General Hospital. She was 76.

She was born on November 2, 1934 in Defiance, PA, the daughter of the late Edward and Elizabeth Young Lowe. She was also preceded in death by siblings Edward Lowe, Kathryn Lowe Rose and Dorothy Lowe Hardester.

Florence is survived by her husband of 51 years George W. Swartz Jr., a son George W. Swartz III and his wife Karen, a daughter Anne L. Swartz Simmons and her husband Brian, a brother Seibert D. Lowe and his wife Sharon, grandchildren Jeffrey K. Still, Angel M. Swartz Raser, Andrew J. Swartz, Ryan J. Simmons and Victoria A. Simmons and three great-grandchildren Jacob B. Raser, Lunden W. K. Still and Ian P. Raser.

Florence enjoyed life as a homemaker and Mother. She loved puzzles, stitchery and games of all sorts. Florence amazed her family with her great interest in genealogy and could remember endless facts and information about family history. She was an avid reader and storywriter, and was always interested in learning new things. Florence also took great joy in playing with her grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and was always a child at heart.

There will be a viewing for friends and family at 11am Friday, November 12, 2010 and services at 12 noon followed by a fellowship luncheon at the Wyoming United Methodist Church, 216 Wyoming Mill Road, Dover, DE 19904. A graveside service at Barratt's Chapel Cemetery, Frederica, DE 19946 will follow the luncheon. All are welcome to attend.

Flowers are welcome, but in lieu of flowers, donations may also be made in Florence's name to the Wyoming United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 389, Wyoming, DE 19934.

Della M. Jackson, 94

GEORGETOWN - Della M. Jackson of Georgetown died Thursday, Oct. 12, 2006, in Harbor Health Care, Lewes. She was 94.

Mrs. Jackson had been a cafeteria manager for East Millsboro School for 20 years.

She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Georgetown.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl E. Jackson, in 1974; a son, Kenneth Jackson, in 2002; and a grandson.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday in Watson Funeral Home, 211 Washington St., Millsboro, where friends may call one hour earlier. Pastor Richard Blades will officiate.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Delaware Hospice Southern Division, 20167 Office Circle, Georgetown, DE19947; or Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund, 318 S. DuPont Highway, Georgetown, DE 19947.

Zebley, Thomas E.

Thomas E. Zebley of Dover passed away Tuesday, November 16, 2010 in Pinnacle Nursing and Rehab, Smyrna. He was 88.

Thomas was born on March 13, 1922 in Wilmington, Delaware, son of the late James and Jessica (Cardenti) Zebley. He was in the Coast Guard during WWII.

He was Vice President of E.F. Higgins Electrical Contracting in Middletown.

Thomas was co-founder of I.B.E.W. Local 313 in New Castle. He was a star football player for Conrad High School during the 1930's, where he played both offense and defense.

He loved animals especially riding horses and enjoyed sailing and reading.

Thomas is preceded in death by a brother James Zebley and a sister Alice Handfield.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years June (Sullivan) Zebley, six children Fil Lewis, Bonnie Lewis, David Lewis, Beau Zebley, Kenny Zebley and Zack Zebley, nine grandchildren and one great granddaughter.

Services are private.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Delaware Humane Society, Att: Sandy Leigh, 701 A Street, Wilmington, DE 19801.

Collier, Emerson W.

Army

Emerson W. "Meany" Collier of Smyrna, formerly of Dover, passed away Tuesday, November 16, 2010.

He was born August 12, 1924 in Queen Anne's County MD son of the late Edith Jones Collier and Harmon Collier.

He grew up on the Eastern shore of MD before serving in the South Pacific during WWII.

married for 50 years to Marion, he is survived by a brother, Robert Collier of Queenstown, MD, three sons, five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 5:00 pm today, Saturday, November 20 at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, where friends may gather one hour earlier.
