Edith M. Bachman

Age 88, of Smyrna, DE, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, December 22, 2010 surrounded by her family.

Born in Wilmington, Edith was the daughter of the late John A. and Pearl (Clark) Hedrick. She was a 1940 graduate of Wilmington High School. During World War II, she worked for Bellanca Aircraft. She married Mark D. MacDonald who predeceased her in 1942. Her second husband, Edward F. Bachman, predeceased her 1992. She was also preceded in death by two sisters and a stepbrother.

She is survived by her daughters, Sue Lane and her husband, Donald of Newark, Mary McCanns of Dover, Laurie DiPersio and her husband, Franny of Marshallton, and Lydia Hoffman of Smyrna; her sons, Mark MacDonald and Edward Bachman, both of Smyrna. Also surviving are her stepbrother, Ed Hedrick and his wife JoAnn of Newark; 20 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren; and her beloved pet, Lovey.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 29th at 11:30 AM at Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Road, Wilmington where friends and family are invited to visitation after 9:30 AM. Interment will follow at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Vitas Hospice, 100 Commerce Drive #302, Newark, DE 19713.

Raymond Wyatt, Sr.

Age 72, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, October 27, 2010 surrounded by his family.

Raymond was the son of the late Wilson and Alice (Farren) Wyatt. He served his country proudly in the US Navy. He retired from Wonder Bread in 1998 after 20 years of service as a warehouse manager. He was predeceased by his wife, Nancy (Sexton) Wyatt in 1995 and by his sister, Norma Pragg

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Raymond and Cindy Wyatt of New Jersey; his daughter and son-in-law, Kelli and Steve Colella of Newark; his sister, Barbara Williams of Newark; his brothers, William Wyatt of California and Gary Wyatt of Texas; three grandchildren, Alexandra, Cody and Tyler; and a nephew Larry Piazza.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to everyone at Odyssey Hospice, especially Denise Webber, for their professional and compassionate care.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 1st at 12 noon at Mealey Funeral Home, 703 N. Broom Street, Wilmington, where friends are invited to visitation after 11 AM. Interment will follow at Cathedral Cemetery, Wilmington.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Odyssey Hospice, 1407 Foulk Road #200, Wilmington, DE 19803.

Rose Marie Becker

Age 80, of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, November 16, 2010 surrounded by her family.

Born in Wilmington, Mrs. Becker was the daughter of the late Carmen and Joanna (Viscount) Poppiti. She graduated from Brown Vocational School and worked as a cashier for Skyline Junior High School. Later, she was employed by Bank of Delaware, working in collections and repossessions for over 11 years until her retirement in 1984. Her memberships included St. Matthew's Church, the BVM Sodality, and Oak Grove Senior Center. She enjoyed playing bingo at St. Matthew's and Oak Grove Senior Center. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Leonard J. Becker in 1967; her son-in-law, George Green; her brothers, James, Felix and Michael Poppiti; and her sisters, Helen Marinelli and Gladys DeFlaviis.

Mrs. Becker will be dearly missed by her daughters, Mary Ellen Green of New Castle, DE and Barbara Ann Graham and her husband, Bobby, of Wilmington, DE; her sons, Leonard J., Jr. and his wife, Jamie of Wilmington, NC and Joseph A. and his wife, Marie Elena of Quakertown, PA; nine grandchildren, George, Julie, Mischelle, Robert, Jim, Jessica, Joseph, Eric and Angelina; and four great grandchildren, Mason, Leea, Michael and Graham. Also surviving are two sisters, Carrie Agostini and Grace Blome.

Friends and family are invited to visitation on Thursday, November 18th between 6 and 8 PM at Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Road, Wilmington. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday morning at 10:30 AM at St. Matthew's Church, 901 East Newport Pike, Woodcrest. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to St. Matthew BVM Sodality, 1013 West Newport Pike, Wilmington, DE 19804.

Abramowicz, James J.

James J. Abramowicz, age 85 of Wilmington, DE, died on Monday, November 29, 2004 after a long illness.

Jim was born on October 8, 1919 to Polish immigrants Ignacy Abramowicz and Anna Mary (Korzienchki) Abramowicz. He was a lifelong resident of Wilmington. Jim was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corp (CCC) and proudly served his country in World War II as a Navy SeaBee in the Pacific Campaign. He was a truck driver for the DuPont Experimental Station until retirement in 1985.

Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Florence (Mohon) Abramowicz, his sister Anna Mary (Abramowicz) Krutuleski of Wilmington, daughter Linda Abramowicz-Reed and her husband George T. Reed III of Newtown, CT, son Gary J. Abramowicz and his wife Judith (Ryan) Abramowicz of Allentown, PA, daughter Cynthia Abramowicz Hubschmitt of Wilmington, son James J. Abramowicz of Wilmington, and stepson David Bauerle and his wife Carol of Georgetown, DE. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and an extended family of five grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to his final good bye at Mealey Funeral Home, Limestone and Milltown Roads Wilmington on Wednesday, December 1st at 2 PM where visitation will take place after 1 PM. Interment will follow at Cathedral Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to The Delaware Hospice on 3515 Silverside Road, Wilmington, DE 19810.

Rodman Yarrington, Jr.

Age 62, of Elsmere, Delaware, peacefully departed this life surrounded by his family and went home to be with the Lord on September 19, 2004 at the Christiana Medical Center.

Rod was a lifelong area resident. He graduated from Conrad High School. He worked for Shop Rite super markets, and was also employed and retired from Pala Bros Furniture Company.

He displayed a God-given talent for art and drawing. He loved watching old movies, especially Westerns. Most of all - he loved spending time with his family at the Jersey Shore.

Rod was preceded in death by his parents, Rodman and Helen Yarrington Sr., his brother Delaware State Trooper David C. Yarrington, and his niece Deborah Ann Hayes. He is survived by his loving sisters Susan Yarrington of Elsmere, DE, Nancy Coover, RN of Margate, NJ; 6 nephews, David C. Yarrington, Jr., Terry, Jamie, David, Christopher and Daniel Coover; 2 great nephews Christopher Tavin and Michael Coover; and one great niece, Christina Ann Coover.

Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery, Wilmington on Monday, September 27, 2004 at 2 p.m.

Patricia Ann (Padovani) Hendrick

"Patty"

Age 52, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, November 14, 2010 surrounded by her family.

Born in Wilmington, Patty was the daughter of Alice (Matuszewski) Padovani and the late Anthony R. Padovani, Sr. She worked as a meter reader for Delmarva Power.

She will be dearly missed by her husband, Bruce Scott Hendrick; her son and daughter-in-law, Jason Paul and Chrissy Rutkowski of Wilmington, DE; her daughter and son-in-law, Angela C. and Frank Radel of Bear, DE; two stepdaughters and their spouses, JoDe and Matt Beitler of Prospect Park, PA and Jill and Marcus Villacco of Jackson Heights, NJ; and five grandchildren, Marissa, Jason, Aubree, Taylor and Zane. Also surviving are her sister and brother-in-law, Susan and Steve Baker; her brother and sister-in-law, Anthony R. and Maria Padovani, Jr.; her father-in-law, Leon Hendrick; her sister-in-law, Sandy Hendrick and her husband, Jon Savacoll; two brothers-in-law, Lance Hendrick and his wife, Janice, and Brian Hendrick and his wife, Kelly; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, November 19th at 11 AM at Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Road, Wilmington where friends and family are invited to visitation after 10 AM. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at stjude.org or to PO Box 1893, Memphis, TN 38101-9950.

Helen D. Dillon

Age 103, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, October 26, 2010.

Born in Wilmington, Mrs. Dillon was the daughter of the late Aloyzy and Frances (Lesczcinski) Cieplowski. She worked at the Hotel DuPont as the "Salad Lady" until her retirement in 1969. She was the oldest parishioner of St. Elizabeth's Parish and the last surviving sibling of her family. She was predeceased by her husband, William V. Dillon, II; her sons, William V. Dillon III and Edmond Dillon; and her daughters, Mary M. Dillon and Nellie Grimes.

The matriarch of her family, she will be dearly missed by her sons, Joseph F. Dillon and his wife Gayle of Wilmington and John Dillon of Miami, FL; her daughter Agnes Noble and her husband, James of New Castle; 24 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 30th at 10:30 AM at St. Elizabeth Church, Cedar and Clayton Streets, Wilmington, where friends are invited to visitation after 9:30 AM. Interment will follow at Cathedral Cemetery, Wilmington.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to St. Elizabeth Church, 809 S. Broom Street, Wilmington, DE 19805.

Teresa L. Everett

Age 62, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 22, 2010.

Born in Buchanan, VA, Teresa was the daughter of Effie (Keffer) Russell and the late Charles Ruley. She previously worked as an Administrative Assistant for the International Reading Association in Newark for over 10 years. She was an accomplished artist.

In addition to her father, she was predeceased by two brothers, Douglas and Charles "Butch" Ruley. She will be missed by her mother and stepfather, Effie and Gary Russell of Longs, SC; her daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Michael Cureton of Panama City Beach, FL; her son, Craig Everett of Elkton, MD; and her brother, Richard Ruley of Baltimore, MD.

Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society, 92 Reads Way, New Castle, DE 19720.
