Baker, Sr., Guy C.

Guy C. Baker, Sr., 87, of Millsboro, Delaware passed away on Monday, May 3rd 2010 at Harrison Senior Living in Georgetown, Delaware. Mr. Baker was born on September 25, 1922 in Gumboro, Delaware to the late Gorman C. and Thelma Bernice Baker. He was also preceded in death by wife Elva Lowe Baker in 1986, wife Virginia M. Gilbert Baker in 2003, and a sister Lena F. Cordrey.

Mr. Baker worked for Mitchell & Sons in Millsboro, Delaware for over 40 years. He was a member of the Hickory Hill United Methodist Church, Millsboro for many years where he was well known for making great iced tea, being the greatest ticket seller for the church dinners, and where everybody loved Guy. He was also a member of the Harrington Moose Lodge #534 in Harrington, Delaware. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps Veteran of World War II.

Guy is survived by two sons, William Baker and wife Joyce of Georgetown, DE, and Guy Baker Jr. of Millsboro, three daughters, Gloria Hitchens and husband Wayne, Sherra Wilkerson and husband Wayne, and Debbie McCabe and husband Douglas, all of Selbyville, DE, step daughter Cynthia Hill and husband Wayne of Delmar, DE, brother Richard T. Baker of Georgetown, five grandchildren, 11 Great Grandchildren, four step grandchildren, and by his "sweetie" Laura Emma McCabe.

Services will be 1 PM, Monday, May 10th at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S Washington Street, Millsboro, Delaware where friends may call at 11 AM. Rev. Betty Jo Magee will officiate the service. Interment will be in Carey's Cemetery, near Millsboro.

Joines, Norman

Norman Joines, age 85, of Sharptown, Maryland, passed away on May 1, 2010 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center, Salisbury, Maryland. Norman was a member of the VFW, Mason Dixon Post, and loved golfing. He retired after 30 years of service from Townsend's Inc. as a Plant Manager. His life revolved completely around his wife and his family. He is preceded in death by his parents; Elias & Clara Calloway Joines, son; Gregory Joines, Brother Elmer Joines, sisters: Etha, Gertrude, Helen, and Alberta. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Betty M. Brittingham Joines, 4 daughters, Joan Collins and husband Jr. of Florida, Patricia Lynn Baker, of Millsboro, Delaware, Karen Lee Joines of Sharptown, Maryland, and Denise Ellis and husband William of Seaford, Delaware, 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. Harrison, Fannie Steele

Fannie Steele Harrison age 96, formerly of Milford, Delaware passed away on May 22, 2010. Fannie was a member of the Avenue United Methodist Church in Milford, De. and the United Methodist Women. She also had been a member of the University of Delaware Home Extension Club and was a former Girls Scout Leader. She enjoyed China Painting. She was a retired bank teller with the former Milford Trust Company and Secretary for the Principal at Millsboro High School. She is preceded in death by her parents Victor L. & Nellie G. Jones Steele, and her husband Victor E. Harrison, Sisters; Ethel McCarty, Elsie E. Williams, Armenia Parker, and Myrtle Adams, brothers; Victor L. Steele Jr., George W. Steele, and Joseph F. Steele. 2 sisters survive her: Mildred Richards of Apopka Fl., Blanche W. Baker of Millsboro, De. She is also survived by Lois MacLeod of Apopka, Fl, Orlene Jackson of Greenwood, De, Donna Spencer of Huntington, Wv., Janet McCarty of Millsboro, De., Holly Coates of Sedona, AZ., Leonard Richards of Houston, Tx., Wesley Richards of S. Burlington, VT., John Steele and Victor Steele III both of Marydel De., Don Steele of Milton, De., David Sockwriter of Milford, De and Gerald Harrison of Phoenixville, Pa., Don Lewis of Milford, De, . Melvin Adams of Laurel, De, . Elaine Hawpe of Dover, De., Joyce Lopez of Davidsonville, Md, . Frances Baker of Lewes, De. along with several great nieces and nephews. Davis Jr., Robert M.

Robert M. Davis Sr., age 75, of Millsboro, Delaware passed away on April 23, 2010. Robert was a retired mechanic with the American Can Company. He was a friend to everyone he came in contact with. He enjoyed Puzzles, woodworking, being outside and loved to play cards especially pinochle. He is predeceased by his parents, Walton & Mabel Myers Davis, and his wife Elaine Davis. He is survived by his son Robert M. Davis Jr. of Harrisburg, Pa., and daughter Judith Davis of Duncannon Pa., 3 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild. His special friend Lynn Fury of Millsboro, Delaware also survives him. Services will be private. Arrangements by Watson Funeral Home, Millsboro, Delaware.

Hunt, Ray J.

Marines

Raymond J. "Ray" Hunt, age 86, of Denton, Maryland, formerly of Millsboro, Delaware passed on Thursday, July 15, 2010 at the Envoy Center in Denton. Mr. Hunt was born on December 13, 1923 in Bayonne, New Jersey to the late Robert Easton Hunt and Jean M. Duncan Hunt.

Mr. Hunt was a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran of World War II serving in the South Pacific Campaign and China; he was a gunner and was Honorably Discharged as a Technical Sergeant. He later worked for the U.S. Government in Civil Service as a Mechanical Inspector at Camp Lejeune Marine Corps Base, North Carolina.

He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Millsboro, past member of the Sussex Central Ruritan, enjoyed being a driver of the CHEER bus, and was a Meals on Wheels volunteer.

Mr. Hunt is survived by his wife of 63 years Ruth A. Guild Hunt, two daughters Pamela S. Hunt of Smyrna, Georgia and Constance Rae Todd of Denton, MD, two grandsons Benjamin Eric Hamilton and Christopher Lucas Hamilton, two great grandsons Nicholas Raymond Hamilton and Nathan Alexander Hamilton, and a great granddaughter Savannah D. Hamilton.

A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 PM, Tuesday, July 20th at the Grace United Methodist Church, 330 E. Church Street, Millsboro, Delaware. Pastor Ed Kuhling will officiate the service.

Christine Marie Sheddy

Christine was born in Dover, Delaware on December 22, 1980. Christine was taken home to be with the Lord on November 13, 2007. Christine was a stay at home mother to her three children Haylie, Isaac, and Zeke. She helped with the family business doing office work and anything else that needed to be done. Christine loved music, talking to her friends and the computer. Christine was a free spirit, who gave of herself to anyone that needed her. She was a kind and caring soul. Family and friends meant everything to her and she loved them fiercely. Christine leaves behind a daughter Haylie Lynch, two sons, Isaac and Ezekiel Hall. Clair Sheddy her father. Lynn and Steven Dodenhoff her mother and step father. Jennifer and Paul Knapp her sister and brother-in-law. A brother, Jeremy Hunt. Maternal grandparents Richard and Margaret Keesser. Paternal Grandmother Ingeborg A. Sheddy. Christine also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews both in England and the United States.

Christine is preceded in death by her brother Michael Keesser. George and Lillian Abel of England. Also her paternal grandfather James R. Sheddy .

Services for Christine will be held at the Milford First Baptist Church on Old Shawnee Road, Milford, Delaware on Saturday March 20, 2010. Visitation will be from noon until 2:00 p.m. Burial will be at Barratt's Chapel in Frederica, Delaware. In lieu of flowers the family suggests a donation to the Christine Sheddy Memorial Fund at The First National Bank of Wyoming, 7 Commerce Street, Harrington, DE 19952. Lessig, Milo Jay

Milo Jay "Mike" Lessig of Oak Meadows, Millsboro, Delaware passed away at home on April 4, 2010, he was 90. Mike was born September 12, 1919 in Stroudsburg, Pa. the son of Walter and Fleda Lessing. He was one of nine children. He was preceded in death by his wife Marion who he was married to for 52 years. He is survived by his son, Alton Jay Lessing and wife Sarah, his daughter Michelle E. McCabe and husband Wade. He had 5 grandchildren and 2 step grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Mike was retired from the Operating Engineers Local 542. Mike was a member of the Community Church of Oak Orchard. He was a member of the Oak Orchard Cheer Center and the Pelican Cove Cheer Center since 1982. Mike was a Veteran of WWII and served his tour of duty in the South Pacific. Mike received the Philippines Liberation Ribbon with 1 bronze star and the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Media with 1 bronze star along with the Victory Medal. A Committal Service will be held at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery on Friday, April 16, 2010 at 10:00 A Memorial Service will be held at the Community Church of Oak Orchard on Saturday; April 17, 2010 at 11:00 AM. West, Robert V.

Robert V. "Bob" West, age 79, of Georgetown, Delaware passed away on Friday, July 16, 2010 at home surrounded by his family. Mr. West was born on March 16, 1931 to the late Edward B. and Lillie Maude Holston West.

Mr. West worked for Townsend's Inc., Millsboro, Delaware as a supervisor of poultry processing and many other duties for many years retiring in 1992 then he worked part time until 2009 for NAPA in Georgetown, Delaware to stay busy.

He attended St. John's United Methodist Church and Zoar United Methodist Church where he sang with the St. John's Quartet and the Zoar Trio. He loved his family, baseball, football, gardening and was Boston Red Sox fan.

Mr. West was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Floyd West, and his wife Betty Ann Johnson West who passed on July 16, 1991.

He is survived by his son Bruce V. West and his wife Robin of Milton, Delaware, his daughter Brenda L. Cohee and her fiancé Eddie Hill of Georgetown, Delaware, his brother Charlie West of Millsboro, 4 grandchildren Michelle West, Summer Meraz, Cody West, and Matthew Cohee, 4 great grandchildren, Joshua Fletcher, Samantha Fletcher, Riley Meraz, and Luke Hughes, sister in law Ivah Hastings, 2 brothers in law Elwood Johnson and wife Marie and Harold Johnson and wife Jeanie, many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Services will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday, July 21st at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington Street, Millsboro, Delaware where friends may call Tuesday evening from 6-8:00 and Wednesday morning from 10-11:00. Rev. Art Backus, Bob's longtime friend, will officiate the service. Interment will follow at the St. John's U.M. Church Cemetery, near Georgetown.

Ailworth, Dylan Andrew

Dylan Andrew Ailworth, of Bishopville, Md, passed away on March 11, 2010 at Childrens National Medical Center, Washington, DC. He was 5 weeks old. Dylan was born on February 4, 2010 to Charles Ailworth Jr. and Crystal Seneca. In addition to his parents Dylan is survived by 1 sister Ellen Yelk of Milford, Delaware 6 brothers, Christopher Ailworth, and Charles Ailworth III, of Bishopville, Md, Franklyn Wright of Dagsboro, De, Jonathan Ailworth of Bishopville, Md and Ethan Wright and Anthony Wright both of Dagsboro, De. Grandparents, Linda Mayfield of Rehoboth, De, and Franklin and Sherrie Stubs of Dagsboro, great grandmother Dorothy Newhard of Dover, De uncles, Henry Ailworth of Bishopville, Md, Charles McGuire Jr., of Dover, De. and one aunt Tammy Aundrie and husband Ronnie of Georgetown, De. He is preceded in death by grandfather Charles Ailworth Sr. in 1993, Uncle Franklin Stubbs II in 1995, and sister Haley Ailworth in 2009. There will be a visitation held on Friday, March 19, 2010, from 10 - 11 AM at Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Hebel, Harold Warfel

Harold Warfel Hebel, age 90 of Dagsboro, Delaware passed away on June 28, 2010 at home. Born March 10, 1920 in Wilmington, DE, he was the son of the late John and Minnie Collins Hebel. Harold was a retired electrical inspector for Fire Underwriters of Philadelphia having served for 30 years. He served for 10 years in Harford County as a Supervisor of Electrical Inspections. Harold was an Amateur Radio Operator (W3HZT). He was a professional drummer and loved Jazz and Big Band music. He was a talented painter, maker of wooden toys and loved doing puzzles. He served in both the Atlantic and Pacific Theaters during WW II with the Merchant Marine, which was activated for full military duty. He was an avid dog lover. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mrs. Bertha Thompson Hebel. He is also survived by four daughters: Linda Hebel, of New Freedom, Pa; Nancy Hebel, of Annapolis, MD; Karen Steedman, and her husband Richard, of Frankford, DE and Elisa Hebel, of Dagsboro, DE. Also survived by two grandchildren: Matthew and Heather Steedman. He has one brother surviving, Herbert C. Hebel and his wife Barbara, of Stewartstown, PA and two nephews: David and Harold Hebel. He was preceded in death by a brother, Victor and a sister, Virginia Hauenstein. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, July 1, 2010 at 10:00 AM at Watson Funeral Home in Millsboro, with visitation one hour prior. Pastor Ted Elser will officiate. Interment will be at 11:00 at the Delaware Veteran's Memorial Cemetery with military honors. Crowley, Jr., John C.

Air Force

John C. Crowley Jr. age 71, passed away on April 12, 2010, at home after a long battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Wilmington, De. on June 20, 1938, Mr. Crowley was the son of the late John C. Crowley Sr. and Dorothy Cheffins Crowley.

Mr. Crowley graduated from Wilmington High School in 1956 where he played football and was a member of the HY-Y. He was a member of Troop 19 Boy Scout Troop at Silverbrook Methodist Church where he attained his Eagle Scout Award. He also received a Troop 19 Honor Scout of the Year Award in 1953, two "All Camp Rodney" awards from Rodney Scout Camp in Northeast, Md. and Church "God and Country" scouting award.

Senior Master Sergeant Crowley (Hoot) retired, proudly served his Country and the State of Delaware for over 40 years as a member of the U.S. Air Force and as a Civil Service Technician full time in the Delaware Air National Guard. While in the Guard Sgt. Crowley was a crew chief on a C-97, C-130A, C-130H and was co insp. Dock chief supervisor.

John C Crowley Jr. is survived by his beloved wife of over 20 years, June Shaw Crowley; a son, John C. Crowley III and his wife Anita; a daughter, Beth Whetlor and her husband Rev. Chris Whetlor; stepdaughter, Christine M. Byron and her husband Don; Stepson, Donald Shaw and wife Janie; stepdaughter, Jennifer Shaw and 12 grandchildren.

A Military Honors Ceremony will be held on Thursday, April 15, 2010 at 5:00 PM at Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St. Millsboro, Delaware where friends may call 1 hr. prior. A family interment will be at a later date in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro, Delaware.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Tunnel Cancer Center, Beebe Medical Center 424 Savannah Road, Lewes, Delaware 19958.

Norwood Sr., Frederick Bozzie

Frederick Luther Norwood Sr. was born on October 1, 1936 to Janie B. Harmon Norwood and the late Richard L. Norwood. Frederick departed this life on June 28, 2010 at the age of 73 at Beebe Medical Center Lewes, Delaware. Frederick, "Bozzie" as we all knew him attended Harmon School. On May 25, 1956, he was united in Holy Matrimony to Mildred E. Hitchens. From that union they were blessed with nine children. Bozzie was a farmer during his early years of working. Later her became a truck driver for many years until his health declined. He loved to talk about his children and his trucking experiences with anyone who would lend an ear. Bozzie was preceded in death by his father Richard, wife Mildred of 41 years, and nephew Daryll Norwood. Bozzie leaves to cherish his memories his mother Janie B. Norwood, Son Frederick Jr, (Cathy), Richard (Velma), Kevin, William ( Conda ), Eldred (Sherri), daughters: Vanessa Rickards, Selena Ross (Albert), Surprenia Griffin and Montoya Palmer. He is also survived by his brother Tyrone Norwood (Jean) sisters: Janice Davis, Marlene Pritchett and Leolga Wright (Dallas) Brother in law, Donald Hitchens Jr., sister in laws, Jennie Hargett, Betty Peacock, and Corrine Sammons. 20 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren and a host of nieces nephews, cousins, and many, many friends. A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 2, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Watson Funeral Home 211 S. Washington Street Millsboro, Delaware where friends may call 1 hr prior. Wetherill, Vera E.

Vera E. Wetherill, age 84, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, May 26, 2010, surrounded by her loving family. Vera, formerly of Aston Mills, Pa., lived at the Cadbury of Lewes. She was preceded in death by her parents John J. & Regina Hickey McKelvey, and her husband Fredrick P. Wetherill Jr., her two brothers Donald and James McKelvey and a grandson Hank Huff. Vera was survived by her daughter Sharon L. Kandravi and her husband William, granddaughters Michelle Huff, Tammy ( Andy ) Abele, and grandson Billy ( Shannon) Kandravi, 5 great grandchildren; Drew and Cory Abele, Josh and Zach Huff, and Haley Kandravi, and numerous nephews and nieces from the McKelvey family and friends. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday June 1, 2010 at 1:00 PM at Watson Funeral Home 211 S. Washington St. Millsboro, Delaware where friends may call 1 hour prior. Interment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park, Millsboro, Delaware. The family would like to extend a sincere thanks to the staff of Cadbury of Lewes and Compassionate Care Hospice for their love and support as Vera passed on to her heavenly reward.

Adams, Donna Lynn

Donna Lynn Adams, age 48, of Dagsboro, Delaware, passed away on April 30, 2010. Donna spent her lifetime caring for kids, and doing foster care. She loved Children. She was a master of the pool tables and loved reading. Donna loved her family and her family loved her, she will be sorely missed. She is predeceased by her mother; Patsy Ann Adams, her brother: George W. Adams and her lifelong companion George L. Lewis. She is survived by her father: George W. Adams, of Dagsboro, Delaware, brothers: Eddie Adams of Dagsboro, Delaware, David Lee Adams of Frankford, Delaware, 2 nieces Kari Lynn Adams, and Amanda Adams, and one nephew, "Little Eddie" Edward Adams. Donna was also survived by more than 200 foster care, and daycare kids she loved and cared for over her lifetime. Her two special people were Mom-Mom Goldie and Aunt Vivian. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday May, 6, 2010 at 1:00 PM at Watson Funeral Home, 211 South Washington St. Millsboro, Delaware where friends may call 1 hr. prior.

Biegler, Joseph H.

Joseph H. Beigler age 75, of Dagsboro, Delaware passed away on May 8, 2010.

Mr. Beigler was preceded in death by his parents: Carl Frederick & Mary Elizabeth Short Beigler.

He had been an auto mechanic.

He is survived by his sister Lola E. Ness of Lehigh Acres Florida.

Services and burial will be private.

Truitt, William Wallace

William Wallace Truitt "Hoagie", age 86, passed away on May 11, 2010.

His parents; King & Sally Baker Truitt and his wife Elizabeth Truitt predecease him..

He was retired from Collins Saw Mill in Gumboro Delaware.

Hoagie loved animals, his garden, and attending flea markets.

His children survive him: William Jr., Morris, Billy, Jimmy, Charles, Brenda, Sandra, Thelma, Ellie, and Martha Ann. Numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins, and extended family and friends also survive him.

A Funeral Service will be held on Monday May 17, 2010, at 2:00 PM at Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St. Millsboro, Delaware where friends may call 1 hour prior.

Husfelt, Regina A.

Regina Amelia Heath Husfelt, age 83, of Millsboro, Delaware passed away on March 15, 2010.

She was born in Elkton, Maryland to the late Charles & Amelia Heath.

She was a graduate of Elkton High School, and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 28.

She volunteered many hours of service to assist injured War Veterans at Perry Point Hospital in Maryland and Veterans Hospital in Elsmere, Delaware.

Regina enjoyed cooking and animals; she took great pride in being a homemaker.

Regina is survived by her husband of 63 years, Howard Oldham Husfelt.

She was the beloved mother, of Barbara Husfelt, Manley Husfelt and wife Kathy, Rodney Husfelt and wife Joanne, grandsons, Ryan, Casey and Tyler Husfelt, and a pet cat Tigress. Brother in Law Robert Davidson, Sister in Laws Nell Husfelt, and Ester Husfelt, nieces Miriam Weight and husband Jack, Marilyn McMillan and husband Bob, Margaret Ellen Husfelt, Pam Husfelt, Sharon Husfelt, and Evelyn Husfelt, also survive her.

She was also predeceased by a sister Margaret Spence, Twin Sister Virginia Davidson, Brother in Laws, Billy Husfelt, George Husfelt, and Rodney Husfelt.

Services will be Private.

In Lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Delaware SPCA or Forgotten Cats.

The family would like to thank the staff of Beebe Hospital and Compassionate Care Hospice for the excellent care given.
