Patterson, Herman

Army

Herman Leroy Patterson, 76, Hartly, passed away Sunday August 15, 2010 at his home with family.

He was born on April 22, 1934 in Dover, DE to the late Charles and Gertrude Biddle Patterson.

He was a life member of VFW and the American Legion. He was a U. S. Army Veteran. Herman was a truck driver and owned and operated Midway Pallets for over 30 years. He enjoyed camping, NASCAR, country music, playing cards, collecting Volkswagens and farm tractors, and sitting on his front parch drinking ice tea watching traffic.

He is survived by his Wife and they have been together for 54 years, Fannie Patterson of Hartly, DE. Son and his wife, Phillip and Margarete Patterson of Hartly, DE. Daughter and her husband, Tempie Patterson Starkey and J. Michael Starkey of Millington, MD. Sister, Mary Henderson of, MD. Granddaughter, Wendy Patterson, Grandson, Scott Klecan.

Remembrance Services will be held Friday 08/20/2010 1 PM at Trader Funeral Home in Dover, DE Burial will be at the Odd Fellows Cemetery Camden, DE

Friends may also call Friday 08/20/2010 11 AM to 1 PM at the Trader Funeral Home in Dover.

Belzer, Carolyn P.

Carolyn P. Belzer, 89, Dover, passed away Sunday September 12, 2010 at her home in Dover. She lived at Luther Towers One and was the last of the original members to live there when built.

She was born on December 25, 1920 in Chicago, IL to the late George and Irene Evstace Grassie.

She was a member of Dover Century Club, The Round Table, New Comers, Sprig and Twig Garden Club, Circle 1 at First Presbyterian Church of Dover, and work for the Delaware Hospice Festival of Trees. She lived in Dover for over 30 years and enjoyed her many community organizations. She is preceded in death by her husband Harold Belzer in 1986.

She is survived by Son and his wife, Douglas and Evie Belzer of Lincolnshire, IL. Daughter and her husband, Patricia and Cameron Deen of Little River, SC. Daughter and her husband, Debbie and Mike Parker of Traverse City, MI. 9, Grandchildren, 8, Great grand children.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family.

The family request that memorial contributions be given to The Presbyterian Church of Dover 54 South State Street Dover, DE 19901

Hills, Hilda Eva

Hilda Eva Hills, 83, Rustic Lane, Dover, passed away Wednesday April 28, 2010 at Delaware Hospice Center Milford.

She was born on July 22, 1926 in Lower Chichester, PA to the late Elmer and Grace Bratton Austin.

Hilda was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Frankie, her brother Norman Austin, and sister Florence Jackson.

She is survived by Sister, Irene Deputy of Williamsville, DE. Sister and her husband, Violet and Jonesy Jones of Baltimore, MD. Brother and his wife, Joseph and Nancy Austin of Dover, DE.

Remembrance Services will be held Tuesday 05/04/2010 11 AM at Trader Funeral Home in Dover, DE Burial will be at the Odd Fellows Cemetery Camden, DE

Friends may also call Tuesday one hour before the time of the service at the Trader Funeral Home in Dover.

The family request that memorial contributions be given to Delaware Hospice of Milford, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963

Teresa L. Everett

Age 62, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 22, 2010.

Born in Buchanan, VA, Teresa was the daughter of Effie (Keffer) Russell and the late Charles Ruley. She previously worked as an Administrative Assistant for the International Reading Association in Newark for over 10 years. She was an accomplished artist.

In addition to her father, she was predeceased by two brothers, Douglas and Charles "Butch" Ruley. She will be missed by her mother and stepfather, Effie and Gary Russell of Longs, SC; her daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Michael Cureton of Panama City Beach, FL; her son, Craig Everett of Elkton, MD; and her brother, Richard Ruley of Baltimore, MD.

Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society, 92 Reads Way, New Castle, DE 19720.

Susan R. Leisey

Age 54, of Wilmington, DE, went peacefully in her sleep at her home on Friday, October 1, 2010.

Born in Wilmington, Susan was the daughter of the late Herbert and Regina (Jackson) Johnson. She worked as a certified nursing assistant at the Veterans Administration Medical Center and for in-home care.

A loving wife, mother and grandmother, she will be dearly missed by her husband, Steven P. Leisey; her sons, Robert M. Leisey and his wife Michelle of Elsmere and Alex D. Leisey of Wilmington; her grandchildren, Tiffany, Savanna, Krieg and Dillon; and her boys, Marley and Rufus.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 7th at 1 PM at Mealey Funeral Home, Limestone and Milltown Roads, Wilmington where friends are invited to visitation after 12 noon. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to a favorite charity in Susan's memory.

Gondeck, Laura L.

Laura Lea Gondeck of Dover passed on shortly after entering into the arms of her family and friends while running in a 5K race at Killens Pond State Park. She was 45.

Laura was born on December 2, 1964 in Milford, Delaware. She graduated from Caesar Rodney High School, Class of 1982. After starting an elementary teaching career she then concentrated her love and efforts into doing what she enjoyed most, being a loving wife, mother, and homemaker.

Laura was an avid reader, who enjoyed running, walking, biking, gardening, the beach, doing arts and crafts and being an active member of the community. She especially loved the sound of laughter, and will always be remembered for her infectious smile.

She was a member of the Downstate Delaware Striders and Riders.

Laura is preceded in death by her father Captain Glenn James and Grandmother Ann Pizzuto.

She is survived by her loving husband of 26 years Michael Gondeck, her mother Joan and father Wilford Hodges of Jacksonville, FL, two daughters Jessica Gondeck and fiancé Jason Abernathey of Dover, Kristen and her husband Andrew Littleton of Newark, and her first anticipated granddaughter, a brother Glenn James II and his wife Emily of Edgewater, MD, two sisters Leanne Andrews and her husband Matt of Hartly, Leah James of Winter Park, FL, nieces and nephews Destinee Christmas of Hartly, Heather Wiltfong of Laporte, IN, Dustin Gondeck and his son Dylan of Harrington and Hunter Gondeck of Dover, mother and father-in-law Charles and Ruth Ann Gondeck of Felton, sister-in-law Carol Gondeck of Dover, brother-in-law David Gondeck and his wife Kelly of Dover and grandfather Paul Pizzuto of Felton.

Service will be 12 noon Friday, October 8 at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, where friends may gather two hours earlier. Burial will follow in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover.

Golden, Thomasena Elaine

Thomasena Elaine Golden passed away on Monday, October 4, 2010 at Kent General Hospital. She was 62.

She was born on February 2, 1948 in Kent County, Delaware daughter of the late Thomas Vernon Derrickson and Martha Ann Derrickson.

Thomasena had a strong work ethic, and worked hard all her life. She worked at the Delaware State News for many years until she was disabled in 2007.

She believed love was not a full cup which one had to share with a few, but rather an ocean from which we could take and give all we wanted. Thomasena was a good wife, caring mother, doting grandmother, and best friend. She was loved by all.

In her life she loved to travel, read, garden, camp, and particularly loved gift giving.

She is also preceded in death by her brother, Thomas Derrickson, and her son John Derrickson.

Thomasena is survived by her loving husband Victor Thomas Golden, Jr., her son, Russell Derrickson, her grandchildren John Derrickson Powell and Kristen Nichole Derrickson, her great grandchildren Vallory Rose Dill, Makenzie E. Derrickson, her brothers and sisters Esther Lee Wirth, Thelma Lucille Butler, Lewis Everette, Paul Everette, Josephine Parsons, Barbara Ann Lane, Cathy Parker and Jim Parker, nephews and nieces Robert Dennis, Polly Dennis, Lora Sapp, Terri Derrickson, Thomas Vernon Derrickson, Jr., Kim Everette, Tonda Everette, Megan Everette, Eugene Polumbo, Angelo Polumbo, Tony Polumbo, Gina Polumbo, Lewis Butler, Marsha Ann Kemp, Paula Jean Farrell, Clark Dutterer, Melissa Dutterer, and many many grand nieces, nephews and cousins.

Service will be 2 pm Saturday, October 9 at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, where friends may gather two hours earlier. Burial will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery, Sandtown.
