Billy R. Swearingin, 67, of Alford, Fla., died Monday, July 11, 2005 at Jackson Hospital in Marianna.

He was a native of Round Lake, a diesel mechanic and attended Alford Assembly of God Church.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Swearingin of Alford; his children, James Ray Swearingin and wife Brandy, John Edward Swearingin and wife Contessa, Sharon Ruth Nault all of Kodiak, Alaska, Barbara Dawn Potter of Whitethorne, Calif.; his sisters, Joyce Carter of Alford and Judy Dingler of Carrabelle; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, July 15, at Alford Assembly of God, with the Rev. Jack Howell officiating. Burial will follow in Alford City Cemetery with James and Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel of Marianna directing.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., today, July 14, at James and Sikes Maddox Chapel.

Graveside funeral services for Larry H. Ellis will be held at 9 a.m., today, July 14, at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Jack Howell officiating.

James and Sikes Maddox Chapel will direct.

Funeral services for Carmelita Brooks, 89, of Two Egg, will be held today, July 14, at 2 p.m., in the Lovedale Baptist Church. Pastor Randall Jarnigan will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Lovedale Baptist Church Cemetery.

Marianna Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Annie Marie Morgan, 79, of Marianna, Fla., departed from this life to be with the Lord Monday, July 11, 2005, at her home.

She was a native of Waco, Texas , but lived most of her life in Marianna. She was a member of the Tabernacle Church of Christ Written in Heaven, and was employed by the Jackson County School Board as a paraprofessional.

Survivors include her loyal husband of 60 years, Walter Morgan Sr. of Marianna; sons, Isaiah Morgan and wife JoAnn, Walter Morgan Jr. and wife Karen, Paul Morgan and wife Carolyn, Zachariah Morgan and wife Lena, and Nehemiah Morgan and wife Sylvia,all of Marianna, Elijah Morgan and wife Luvernia and Joseph Morgan and wife Jean, all of Tallahassee, Nepton Morgan of New Orleans, La., Hezekiah Morgan and wife Carrie of Jonesboro, Ga., Henry John Morgan and wife Wendy of Stafford, Va., Samuel Morgan and wife Linda of Lanham, Md., Randolph Morgan and wife Cherry of Sunderland, Md; daughters, Betty McMillan-Roberts and husband Percell of Marianna, Marie Green of Bonifay, Daisy Hadley and husband Frank and Geraldine Capehart, all of Temple Hills, Md., Nadine Morgan-Jackson and husband Leander of La Plata, Md., and Patricia Morgan-Walters and husband Daniel of Upper Marlboro, Md.

She is also survived by her brothers, Clarence H. Bush and wife Vandolyn of Waco, Texas , N.J. Bush and wife Elizabeth of Elm Mott, Texas and Archie Bush and wife Merilyn of Gardenia, Calif.; 41 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren; six sisters-in-law, two aunts and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Services will be held Saturday, July 16, at 2 p.m., at Second West Missionary Baptist Association Church, with Elder Elijah Morgan, Evangelist Isaiah Morgan, Assistant Diocese Bishop Nathaniel Pollock and Elder Tracy Baker officiating.

Interment will follow in Baxter-Morgan Memorial Garden. The family will receive friends Friday, July 15, from 6- 7 p.m., at Tabernacle Church of Christ Written in Heaven, located at 2079 Unity Road in Marianna.

The body will lie at the church from 1 p.m. until time of the service at 2 p.m.

Vann Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Funeral services for Billy R. Swearingin will be held today, Jul 15, at 10 a.m., at Alford Assembly of God Church. Burial will follow in Alford City Cemetery with James and Sikes Maddox Chapel directing.

Andrew "Tick" Gary Gardner, 56, of Cottondale, died Thursday, July 14, 2005, in Jackson Hospital.

He was a life long resident of this area and a Methodist by faith. He worked as a rural mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. He loved to ride the dirt roads and visit with all of his friends. He was very loyal and devoted to his family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Lela Gardner, and his brother, Ronnie Gardner.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Gardner of Cottondale, sons, Andrew Gary Gardner II and Todd Gardner and wife Jessica, all of Tallahassee; daughters, Emily Ann Gardner of Jacksonville, Meggon Nicole Gardner of Cottondale; brothers, Bobby Gardner and wife Shirely of Bainbridge, Ga., and Bill Gardner and wife Charlotte of Marianna; sister, Paula Jane Hughes and husband Donnie of Marianna; and grandchildren, Drake Tristan Gardner and Trayson Matthew Gardner.

Services will be held Saturday, July 16, at 11 a.m., with a life long friend, James Braxton officiating. Burial will follow in the Cypress Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends this evening, July 15, from 5-7 p.m., in the Marianna Chapel Funeral Home.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Covenant Hospice. Marianna Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Emanuel Will Boykin, 79, better known as "Buddy", of 2776 Panhandle Road in Marianna, Fla., died Friday evening, July 8, 2005, in Jackson Hospital in Marianna.

He was a native and life long resident of Jackson County. He was of the Methodist faith and was a member of the Pope Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church.

Survivors include a loving and devoted niece, Margree Boykin Grimsley of Marianna; great-nieces, Tomeeka L. Grimsley of Marianna and Tangala L. Baker of St. Petersburg; great-nephews, Vernon Spencer and wife Earline and Randy H. Spencer, all of Marianna, and Shavrick D. Cooper of Port St. Joe.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 16, at 2:30 p.m., at the Pope Chapel A.M.E. Church, with the Revs. S.E. McGlockton, Gloria Wynn, O'Hara Johnson and Bernard Felton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Peoples Funeral Home of Marianna directing.

The body will lie at the church from 1:30 p.m. until funeral time at 2:30 p.m.

The family will receive friends at the Peoples Funeral Home Chapel this evening, July 15, from 5-6 p.m.

John Wesley "Top" Toole, 72, of Marianna died Wednesday, July 13, 2005 at his residence.

He was a native of Campbellton and lived most of his life in Jackson County. He retired from the U.S. Air Force as a Master Sergeant, having served during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam. He also retired from Chipola Ford as service manager. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Marianna for 25 years.

He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Betty Toole; son, Jeffrey Toole; daughters, Diane Cox and husband Matthew, Susan Watson and husband Philip all of Marianna; grandchildren, Sean and Ashley Toole, Samantha Cox, Jennifer Grainger; and brothers, Cleatus Toole and wife Ruth of Graceville and Harvey McCoy and wife Kay of Tampa.

Funeral services will be held Monday, July 18, at 10 a.m., at James and Sikes Maddox Chapel, with the Rev. Michael Petty officiating. Burial will follow in Springhill Cemetery near Graceville with James and Sikes Funeral home Maddox Chapel directing.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Sunday, July 17, at James and Sikes Maddox Chapel.

Dewayne Craig Sellers, 34, of Marianna, Fla., died Saturday night, July 16, 2005, at Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan, Ala., following a short illness.

He was a lifetime resident of Jackson County and was a self-employed water tower painter.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Diane Case.

Survivors include his wife, Tara Sellers of Marianna; father, Danny Sellers and wife Cindy of Dothan, Ala.; son Brandon Sellers of Marianna; daughter Amber Sellers of Marianna; brother, Brian Sellers of Dothan; maternal grandmother, Tennie Tipton of Marianna; paternal grandmother, Evelyn Sellers of Dothan; three aunts, Louise Carter and husband Ray of Alford, Marie Higdon of Marianna and Cindy Alford of Cottonwood, Ala.; uncles, Charles Jarmon of Grand Ridge and Larry Sellers of Fort Rucker, Ala.; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family received friends at Lord Funeral Home Chapel Monday, July 18, from 6-8 p.m.

Memorialization by cremation followed. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society.

Harold Kennedy Shores, 44, of Cottondale, died Friday, July 15, 2005, at his residence.

He was a life long resident of Jackson County and a carpenter by trade.

Survivors include his sons, Jason Eric Shores of Blountstown and Curtis Eugene Shores of Gulf County; brothers, Claude Franklin Shores and wife Lora, Gordon Shores, Clyde Monroe Shores and James Richard Shores; sisters, Pauline Heath and Betty Geraldine Piercy and husband Rick.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, July 20, at Maddox Chapel. Burial will follow at Hickory Level Cemetery, with the Rev. Andy Glover officiating. His brothers will serve as pallbearers, with James and Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.

The family will receive friends from 6- 8 p.m., today, July 19, at Maddox Chapel.

Margie Alene Cook, 71, of Sneads, died Sunday, July 17, 2005, in Dothan, Ala.

She was a native and life long resident of Jackson County. She was a retired school teacher with the Jackson County School Board and a member of Sneads Assembly of God Church. She was a cornea donor to Give the Gift of Sight to Another. She loved her students, family, friends and church. She loved to garden and cook.

Survivors include her devoted husband of 56 years, John William Cook of Sneads; daughter, Charlette Tyus of Marianna; sons, Buddy Cook of Sneads, Bobby Cook of Grand Ridge and Darrell Cook of Tallahassee; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and many extended family members and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., today, July 19, at Lanier-Andler Funeral Home in Sneads. Funeral services will be held July 20, at 11 a.m., at Sneads Assembly Church of God. Burial will follow at Pope Cemetery in Sneads.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
