Laurice M. Watters, age 78, died Monday, Sept. 11, 2000, in a local nursing home. She was a native of Fremont, Mich., and has been living in the Bay County area since 1997, moving here from California. She's survived locally by her daughter, Connie Thornley of Panama City.

JIM WEBER
Jim Weber of Seminole, Fla., died Sept. 10, 2000, in the Palms of Pasadena Hospital. He was a resident of Seminole since 1958 moving there from Pittsburg, Pa. He was an oil spill contractor. Mr. Weber was a member of St. Jeromes Catholic Church of Largo, Fla., Feather Sound Country Club and active in Seminole Youth Activities. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Peggy Weber; a son, Jim Weber Jr. of Panama City; two daughters, Jane DeKorte, Chris McKenna; and mother, Margaret Weber, all of Seminole; six grandchildren, James John Weber III, Daniel Weber, both of Panama City, Lydsey McKenna, Logan McKenna, Bo DeKorte and Parker DeKorte; a brother, Joe "Skip" P. Weber Jr., all of Seminole; and two sisters, Dorothy "Dottie" Witt of Jacksonville and Janet Roland of San Diego, Calif. Memorial services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. in Wilson Funeral Home Chapel.

WILLIE "BILL" DIXON
The funeral for Mr. Willie "Bill" Dixon, 85, of 137 Transmitter Road, Springfield, Fla., will be at 1 p.m. today at Second Moriah Baptist Church with the Rev. Raymond Rogers officiating. Interment will be in Redwood Cemetery. The remains will lie in state one hour prior to services at the church.

HELEN L. EVANS
Helen L. Evans, 96, of Old Forest Way, Panama City, Fla., died Monday morning, Sept. 11, 2000, in National Healthcare Center where she had resided since October of 1997. Born in Michigan, she had been a resident of Bay County for the past eight years, moving here from Crystal River, Fla. She lived in Crystal River for 23 years after retiring from school teaching at Indian River High School in Michigan. Twenty-three years after retiring from school teaching at Indian River High School in Michigan, she and her husband, the late Dr. James A. Evans, who passed away in April of 1992 lived in Cheboygan, Mich., for 40 years and were active in the St. James Episcopal Church and the Cheboygan Golf Course. She was very active in the St. Anne Episcopal Church in Crystal River, Fla. and the Seven Rivers Country Club. She was a member of Holy Nativity Episcopal Church with the Rev. Dr. John Richardson officiating. Graveside services will be held on Friday, Sept. 15, at 10 a.m. in the Crystal River Cemetery in Crystal River, Fla. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Nativity Episcopal Church in Panama City or to St. Anne's Episcopal Church in Crystal River in memory of Evans.

GLADYS C. FITTS
Mrs. Gladys C. Fitts, 77, of 2121 Harrison Ave., Panama City, Fla., died Monday, Sept. 11, 2000, at a local nursing facility. She had been a resident of the area since 1966, coming here from Mobile, Ala. Mrs. Fitts was an executive secretary for the Red Cross in Mobile and was Methodist by faith. She loved to fish and loved flowers and gardening. Mrs. Fitts is survived by her husband Cecil Fitts of Panama City; daughters, Carroll Delane Anderson and her husband William of Jacksonville, Fla., and Linda Faye Dorman and her husband Randy of Panama City; sisters; Maggie Davis, Ellie Seale and Sadie Mills, all of Moundville, Ala.; and four grandchildren, Bill Anderson, Mike Anderson, Lisa Mehm and Jason Dorman. Graveside funeral services will be at 10 a.m. today, Sept. 13, at Evergreen Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Bruce Raley officiating. Interment will follow.

EMMETT SAMUEL JONES
Graveside services for Emmett Samuel Jones, 77, of Longview, Texas, were held Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2000, in the Rosewood Park Mausoleum with the Rev. Kenneth Mills officiating, under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. He died Saturday, Sept. 2, 2000, at his residence in Longview. Mr. Jones was born April 14, 1923, in Malone, Fla., and had been a resident of Longview since 1997, after moving from Panama City, Fla. He was a retired pipefitter for local Union No. 366, AF of L, CIO in Pensacola, Fla. He was a 32 degree Mason, and a member of the Acme Lodge No. 222, a Shriner, and a member of the Shaddai Temple AAONMS, and a member of the Valley of Orient of 2000, all in Panama City. He was a member of the Northside Baptist Church in Panama City. Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his son, Col. Saxton Randall Jones. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Sara Nell Jones of Longview; daughter, Yvonne Duke and Esther Self, both of Longview; grandchildren, Shane and Corey Duke, Shawn and Timothy Self, and Dan and Randy Jones; great-grandchildren, Ashley and Sax Duke, and Davin Duke; and a sister, Estelle McAnulty of Dothan, Ala.

BEATRICE AMANDA REYNOLDS
Mrs. Beatrice Amanda Reynolds, 86, of Panama City, Fla., passed away Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2000, at a local hospital. She was a native of New York City and had lived in the Panama City area for 42 years. Mrs. Reynolds was a waitress at the Holiday Lodge and Four Winds restaurants for many years and was a member of St. Andrews Baptist Church. She did volunteer work with the Council on Aging, assisting the elderly with shopping and bill paying. Mrs. Reynolds is survived by two sons, Hugh Reynolds Jr. and his wife Linda of Wewahitchka, Fla., and Glenn Rogers and his wife Marilyn of Hurlburt Field, Fla.; a sister Edythe Frassanito of Gettysburg, Penn.; a brother Ben Totten of East Haddam, Conn.; grandchildren, Kathryn Lee, Sheryl Reynolds, Kenneth Reynolds, Amy Ellis, Jessica Shade, Nick Rogers, Darren Walsingham, J.D. Walsingham and Tonya Roberts; and great-grandchildren Amanda and London. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh A. Reynolds Sr.; and a son, Clayton Reynolds. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 15, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Fred Sale officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, Sept. 14, from 6 until 8 p.m.

LUEY BRYANT
Mr. Luey Bryant, 72, of Wewahitchka, passed away Tuesday morning, Sept. 12, 2000, in Blountstown. He was a native of Houston County, Ala., and had been a resident of Wewahitchka for the past 37 years. He worked as a logger and farmer until his retirement. He is survived by his wife, Louise Bryant of Wewahitchka; four children, Luey Gene Bryant of Port St. Joe, Annette Mobley of Washburn, Tenn., William Fred Bryant of Highland View and Vernon Anthony Bryant and wife Barbara of Panama City; four grandchildren, William Michael Bryant of Port St. Joe, Samantha Bryant and Curtis Wilson Bryant of Panama City, Mark Bryant and his mother, Stephanie of Canada; one sister, Wynell Harrison of Wewahitchka. Memorialization will be by cremation today, Sept. 14, at 10 a.m. CDT. A memorial service will be held at Comforter Funeral Home Wewahitchka Branch Chapel.

ROBERT E. 'BOB' COATES
Mr. Robert E. "Bob" Coates, age 62, of 1015 S. Comet Ave., Panama City, Fla., passed away Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2000, at a local hospital. He was a native of Holmes County, Fla., and had lived in the Panama City area most of his life. Mr. Coates was the owner and operator of Stereotronix for many years. He was an accomplished woodcarver, specializing in carvings of ducks and birds. Mr. Coates was of the Assembly of God faith and loved listening to the Gaithers Homecoming recordings. He is survived by his wife: Edith Coates of Panama City, Fla.; two daughters, Janet McCaw and Kim DeBoer, both of Columbia, S.C.; a son, Robert D. Coates of Columbia, S.C.; a stepdaughter, Kim Clewis of Panama City; father and stepmother, Gilbert and Irene Coates of Panama City; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, Broynease Coates. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m., Friday, Sept. 15, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jeff Scalf officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today, Sept. 14, from 6 to 8 p.m.
