WILLIAM EDWART CLEGG JR.
Mr. William Edwart Clegg Jr., age 77, of 131 Marin Drive, passed away Monday, Oct. 30, 2000. He was a native of Glen Ellyn, Ill., and had lived in Panama City for 30 years, moving here from Illinois. Mr. Clegg was the former owner/operator of the KOA Campground on Thomas Drive. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of World War II, a member of the local Masonic Lodge, a member of Shaddai Shrine Temple, and a former member of the BPOE. Mr. Clegg is survived by his wife of 53 years, Marie Clegg of Panama City; four sons: William E. Clegg III and his wife Judy of Fort Myers, Fla., Charles Stephen Clegg and his wife Debbie of Lake Forest, Ill., Thomas Edward Clegg of Dallas, Texas, and James Jeffery Clegg and his wife Cynthia of Long Grove, Ill.; two sisters, Betty Ann Jensen and her husband Harry and Ruth Jirsa, all of Glen Ellyn, Ill.; and 11 grandchildren. He was my husband, our father, and our best friend; he will be missed.

ROSE MARIE GATHERS
Mrs. Rose Marie Gathers, 66, of Panama City, passed away Sunday, Oct. 29, 2000, in Gulf Pines Hospital. She was a native and longtime resident of Port St. Joe, and a member of New Bethel AME Church. Mrs. Gathers is survived by her three children: Leroy Gathers Jr., of Tallahassee, Patricia Bailey, of Panama City and Sandra Bailey of Port St. Joe; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. The funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 4, at 11 a.m. at New Bethel AME Church, with the Rev. Calvin Griffin officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery. She will lie in state at the church from 4 to 6 p.m. EST Friday.

ELIZA SALLY JACKSON
Mrs. Eliza Sally Jackson, 88, of 3601 E. 2nd St., died Oct. 26, 2000, in Bay Medical Center. She was born July 11, 1912. She was a native of Washington County (Vernon) and moved to Bay County in her early life. She retired from domestic work. She was a member of St. Paul AME Church. She is survived by her loving and devoted daughter, Lucinda Mills of Panama City; grandson, James Earl Varner (Brenda) of Panama City; four great-grandchildren: Jacqueline Evette Varner, James Earl Varner Jr., Eliza Denise Varner and Armilla Carlette Varner; five great-great-grandchildren: Tieghqua James Varner, Tyler Charyce Tizeno, Kelsey Danielle Tizena, Josiah Elijah Varner and Siara Danielle Varner; sister, Parle Washington of Vernon; nine nieces: Mattie Davis of Caryville, Freddie Mae Patterson, Inada Lee and Loretta Jones all of Panama City, Teretha Oliver, Stellar Shackleford and Mary Alice Brown all of Melbourne, Edna Clady and Annie Mae Oliver both of Los Angeles, Calif.; four nephews: W.T. Oliver of Caryville, Roosevelt Oliver Sr. and C.J. Oliver both of Melbourne,and Odis C. Oliver of Los Angeles, Calif.; a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Jackson will be held Thursday, Nov. 2, at 11 a.m. in St Paul AME Church in Springfield, with Bishop Ross Halstead officiating. Interment to follow in St. Luke Memorial Cemetery Vernon , Fla. The remains will repose at the Church this evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and will lie in state at the Church on Thursday from 9 a.m. until service time. The family will receive relatives and friends at 3601 E. 2nd St.

ZONNIE KENT PETERSON
Mrs. Zonnie Kent Peterson, 75, of Panama City, Fla., died Saturday evening, Oct. 28, 2000, in Memphis, Tenn. She was a lifelong resident of Bay County and was a homemaker. She was also a member of the Order of the Amaranth, Zollie Young Court No. 72. Mrs. Peterson is survived by one son, Carlton Peterson and wife Barbara of Panama City; one daughter, Carolyn Pettibone and husband R.L. of Cordova, Tenn.; one brother, James H. Kent and one sister, Agnes L. Dean both of Panama City; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held today, Nov. 1, at 2 p.m. in Southerland Family Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Sammy Stewart officiating. A private family interment will follow in Bayou George Cemetery.

Mrs. Marie C. Piper, 69, of Panama City, Fla., died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2000, at her home. Born in Butte, Mont., she moved here in 1993 from Homestead, Fla. She was the manager of the MWR at Homestead AFB. Mrs. Piper is survived by her husband, David Piper of Panama City; three sons: Michael Hardaway and wife Cynthia of Panama City, Clifton Hardaway of Miami, Fla., and David Kibbler of Washington State; three daughters: Deborah Lohman of Panama City, Patty Chapman of Salt Lake City, Utah and Robin Hardaway of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; two sisters, Vicky Stratford and husband Bob of Salt Lake City, Utah and Beth Weddle of Oregon; seven grandchildren and one-great-grandchild. Graveside funeral services will be conducted today, Nov. 1, at 10 a.m. in Evergreen Memorial Gardens with the Rev. R.C. Warren officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Northwest Florida in memory of Mrs. Piper.

Funeral services for Ms. Clarice Juanita Roberts, age 71, of 235 Pine Ridge Drive, Panama City, Fla., who died Sunday, Oct. 29, 2000, will be held 10 a.m. today, Nov. 1, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Moore and her grandson, Brian Taylor officiating. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Property Fund of Northside Baptist Church, 530 Airport Road, Panama City, FL 32405. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the physicians and staff of the Panama City Dialysis Center for the great care given to Mrs. Roberts during her illness.

Mr. Londell "Daddy Russ" Russ, 64, of Panama City, Fla., died Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2000, in a local hospital. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, Nov. 3, 2000, at 2 p.m. in Southerland Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. BOBBIE BARRINGTON WATTS
Bobbie Barrington Watts, 78, of 1403 East 2nd Court, Panama City, died Sunday, Oct. 29, 2000, in her home. She was a retired secretary and treasurer for T&W Tire Company. She was a member of Cove Baptist Church, BPOE Does, and was a Bay Medical Center Volunteer. She had been a resident of Panama City since 1952, moving here from Wewahitchka, Fla. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Angus Watts. She is survived by three daughters: Joyce L. Jordan of Houston, Texas, Toni Smith Marshall of Jacksonville, Fla., Tink Warren and her husband Claude of Panama City; six grandchildren: John Jordan, Robert H. Jordan Jr., Lee Warren, Will Warren, Holly Marshall Crowley, Leigh Marshall McDaniel; five great-grandchildren: Shea Jordan, Tyler Jordan, Alex Crowley, Sean Crowley, Darby McDaniel; four nieces: Lynda Zehner, Barbara Daniel, Joy Pruitt and Debbie Walker. Funeral services will be held today at 10 a.m. in Cove Baptist Church with the Rev. Nathan Keen officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers are: Claude Warren, Joe Marshall, Will Warren, Lee Warren, John F. Daniel, Bill Zehner, Gene Watts, Michael Crowley, Steven Reid, Kenny Robinson, David Bryan and Tommy Bryan. Honorary pallbearers are: Lance LaBrache, Joseph Hall, V.C. Sharpe, Dr. Palep Rao, Dr. Syed Mahmood, Dr. William Dent, Dr. Marty Mathews, Pete Forness, Tim Bryan, Wilson Stevens, Albert Thomason, James Lewis, Jim Mincy, Buzz Busby and the Deacons of Cove Baptist Church. ROBERT FLOYD BREEDON
Robert Floyd Breedon, 79, formerly of 1511 St. Andrew Blvd., died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2000, in a local nursing home. He had been a resident of Panama City since 1945. He was a retired mechanical construction superintendent for Blount Company. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. After the war, he then enlisted in the National Guard before retiring from the reserve at the rank of lt. colonel. He was a member of the St. Andrew Masonic Lodge No. 212, the Bayou George Christian Church and the Coachman Hurricane Club. He was preceded in death by his wife, Maggie Breedon; and his mother, Maude Breedon Powell. He is survived by a brother, Roy Breedon and his wife, Lula M. of Panama City; two brothers-in-law, Harold Dykes and his wife, Lynette of Panama City, Carl M. Dykes and his wife, Jacqueline of Youngstown; sister-in-law, Alma Littleton of Panama City, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Dennis Dilley and the Rev. Les Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the Forest Lawn Cemetery with masonic rites conducted at the graveside. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. today. Those desiring to may make a contribution to Hospice of Northwest Florida in memory of Robert Floyd Breedon. The masonic lodge will open one hour prior to the service.

Mrs. Louise Brown, 83, of Panama City, died Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2000, in a local nursing home. Born in Columbus, Ga., she moved to Panama City in 1999 from Columbus. Mrs. Brown was a housewife and a Baptist by faith. She is preceded in death by her husband, J.B. Brown. Mrs. Brown is survived by her daughter, Sandra Moncrief and husband Pal of Panama City Beach; one stepson, Chipper Brown and wife, Marion of Prattville, Ala.; three grandchildren, Mitzi Watkins and husband, Cham of Pine Mountain, Ga., Monica Roberts of Lynn Haven, and David Brown of Prattville, Ala.; and five great-grandchildren, Cristen and Trey Poole, Hallie and Mal Watkins and Brenton Kirkpatrick. Graveside services for Mrs. Brown will be conducted Friday, Nov. 3, at 3 p.m., in Park Hill Cemetery in Columbus, Ga. Interment will follow. The family will receive friends this evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Striffler-Hamby Funeral Home in Columbus, Ga.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, Nov. 3, at 2 p.m. in Southerland Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Phil Edwards, Pastor Hilton Foster and Bro. T.A. Green officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The following gentlemen will serve as active pallbearers: James Lee, Gerald Worley, Keith David, Kurt Davis, Hurtis Hicks and Lamar Melvin. Honorary pallbearers will be Mr. Russ' nephews, Steve, Mike and Clint Russ. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 6 to 8 p.m.
