Mrs. Virginia Ruth Lynch, age 67, of 145 Ling St., Port St. Joe, Fla., died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2001, at Baycrest Nursing Center in Panama City, Fla. Mrs. Lynch was a native of Lake City, S.C., and had lived in Port St. Joe since 1960. She was a homemaker and a member of Gospel Assembly Church on Baldwin Rd., Panama City, where she served as an Usherette. Survivors include a husband, William M. Lynch of Port St. Joe; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ralston M. and Laura M. Lynch of Elberton, Ga., W. Michael and Sherrie Lynch of LaGrange, Ga.; two daughters and sons-in-laws, Teresa A. and Jackie Dunlap of Panama City, Linda R. and Paul D. Fuqua of Panama City; one brother, W.L. Jowers of Columbia, S.C.; two sisters, Margie Owens of Charleston, S.C., Dorothy Hudson of Columbia, S.C; seven grandchildren: Jason Fuqua, William Lynch, Matthew Lynch, Morgan Lynch, Heather Lynch, Amy Dunlap and Kady Dunlap. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 24, at 11 a.m. CST from Gospel Assembly Church, Panama City with the Rev. Clyde Scharber, Steve Coy and John Broome officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Panama City. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. CST at Gospel Assembly, 424 W. Baldwin Road, Panama City.

SHIRLEY WHITE ROONEY
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Feb. 23, 2001, in Delhomme Bertrand Chapel of the Flowers for Mrs. Shirley White, age 66, who died Thursday, Feb. 22, at the home of her sister, Dorothy "Dot" Mayhan, after a prolonged illness. The Rev. Ira Robinson, pastor of Asbury Methodist Church, will conduct the service. Interment will take place in Greenlawn Memorial Garden Mausoleum. Mrs. Rooney, the former Shirley J. White, was a native of Lafayette, the daughter of the late James K. White of Pensacola and the former Antonia "Toni" Breaux of Arnaudville, La. She was a resident of Panama City Beach for the past 20 years returning to Lafayette in September of last year. Shirley graduated from Lafayette High School in 1953, and attended college at the former S.L.I. (U of L) where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority. She worked at Lafayette Medical Group, married Gerald R. Rooney of New Orleans and became a housewife and living mother. Through the years, she did volunteer work at Lafayette General Hospital and at Bay Memorial Hospital in Panama City. She was a member of Asbury Methodist Church in Lafayette and Woodlawn Methodist Church in Panama City. Shirley is survived by her two daughters, Mrs. Patti Mailly of Brandon, Miss., and Mrs. Jeri Remley of Las Cruces, N.M.; one sister, Dorothy "Dot" Mayhan of Lafayette; and six grandchildren: Paul Sewall IV, Michelle Mailly, Maddi Mailly, Melissa Mailly, Christopher Remley and Chase Remley. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, James K. White. Pallbearers will be: Robert Mailly, Dennis Remley, Paul Sewell IV, Patrick Mayhan, Keith LeBlanc and Jess Marceaux. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston Suite 200, Lafayette, La. 70503. Visiting hours are to be observed today from 9 a.m. until service time.

ROGER L. ROSENBERGER
Roger L. Rosenberger, age 61, of Spring Hill, Fla., died Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2001, at his residence. He was a retired deep sea diver for the U.S. Navy. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 28, at American Legion Post No. 186, Hwy. 50, Spring Hill, Fla.

Mr. Charles L. Routsong, age 92, of Panama City, Fla., passed away Thursday, Feb. 22, 2001, at a local hospital. He was a native of Dayton, Ohio, and had lived in Panama City since 1942. Mr. Routsong was an auto mechanic, working for Tommy Thomas Chevrolet for many years and was a member of Springfield Baptist Church. He is survived by a daughter, Betty J. Whitehurst and her husband Marion of Panama City and a granddaughter, Tamis Chambless and her husband Mardy of Southport. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. today, Feb. 23, at Evergreen Memorial Gardens with the Rev. J.W. Hunt officiating. Interment will follow. The family will receive friends at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home today, Feb. 23, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon.

Mr. Dana M. Rowe Sr., age 71, of 2406 W. 21st St., Panama City, Fla., died Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2001, at a local nursing facility. He had been a resident of the area for 35 years, coming here from Portsmouth, Va. Mr. Rowe served his country in the U.S. Navy for 24 years during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam Era. He was also a member of St. Andrew Baptist Church. Mr. Rowe is survived by his wife of 45 years, Wilma Rowe of Panama City; two sons, Dana M. Rowe Jr. of Panama City and Terry Lee Thigpen of Valdosta, Ga.; two daughters, Kimberly Jean Priest of Orlando and Leiland Marie Holton and her husband Alton of Hickory, N.C.; a Brother, David L. Rowe of Gainesville; a sister, Delphia Bodamer of Griffin, Ga.; seven grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. Funeral services will held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Dewey Davidson officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens with full military honors. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today, Feb. 23, from 6 to 8 p.m.

JULIETTE THOMPSON
Juliette Thompson, age 80, of Panama City, died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2001, in a local nursing home. She was born in Piper, Miss., and was formerly from Brandon, Miss., before moving to Panama City in 1995. She was a homemaker and was Baptist by faith. Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by her husband, William Thompson and son Ray Thompson. Mrs. Thompson is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Keith Thompson and Jan Day of Pearl, Miss.; two daughters, Nancy and Dickie Burns of Lynn Haven and Sue and Mike Jernigan of Brandon, Miss.; grandchildren, Julie and Michael Jernigan Jr., Monty and Wes Burns, Trey and Tracey Thompson; great-grandchildren, Blaine Jernigan, Brayden and Hannah Burns; four brothers: Henley Lawley of El Paso, Texas, Lee Lawley of Seabrook, Texas, Dee Lawley of Birmingham and Fred Lawley of Frankfort, Ky. Graveside services will be held in Brandon, Miss. Ott and Lee Funeral home is in charge of arrangements in Brandon.

Mr. Joseph Launzary Tyson, 36, of 601 Maple Ave. died Monday Feb. 19, 2001 in a local hospital. He was a lifelong resident of Panama City. He attended the public schools Cay County He was well liked by many and known to most as "Possum" or "Sim". He is survived by his devoted wife and lifelong friend, Georgia Pearl Tyson of Panama City; four children: Stephen, Alberta, Joseph and Constance Tyson all of Panama City; a loving mother, Alberta Tyson of Panama City; three brothers: Tommy Ross (Elizabeth), Steven Ross and Alfred Tyson all of Panama City; three sisters: Phyllis King (David) of Richmond, Va., Vanessa Williams and Regina Russell both of Panama City; mother-in-law, Bertha Mae Heard of El Paso, Texas; four brothers-in-law: Lavelle Orr (Dorothy) of Georgia, Gary Embry and Johnny Lee Orr both of Panama City, and Mark Orr of Kentucky; six sisters-in-law: Teresa Elsion of Ohio, Virginia Orr of Panama City, Danah Williams (Craig) of El Paso, Texas, Rose Hodge (David) of San Antonio, Texas, Betty and Bobbie Heard both of Panama City; five uncles: Freddie Cason (Ruby) of Fort Walton Beach, Henry Ross (Christine) of Florence, Miss., Charles Ross (Louise) of Fort Walton Beach, the Rev. Bobby Tyson (Nancy) and the Rev. Joe Tyson both of Panama City; two aunts, Geraldine Harvis (Robert) and Janie Mae Smith (Lee) both of Panama City; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Mr. Tyson will be held Saturday, Feb. 24, 2001, at 2 p.m. in Neal's Temple First Born Church with Bishop Richard Jenkins Sr. officiating. Interment to follow in Hillside Cemetery. The remains will repose at the church this evening from 6 to 8p.m. and will lie in state at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time. The family will receive relatives and friends at 2103 E. 8th Court.

ARTHUR DOUGLAS COX SR.
Mr. Arthur Douglas Cox Sr., age 89, of 3611 Courtney Dr., Panama City Beach, Fla., died Thursday, Feb. 22, 2001, at a local nursing facility. He had lived in the Santa Rosa Beach, Fla., area for over 20 years, moving there from Destin. Mr. Cox was a charter boat captain and was Protestant by faith. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Cox of Panama City; two sons, Arthur D. Cox Jr. and his wife Pamela of Orange Spring, Miss., and Richard Cox and his wife Kathleen of Topeka, Kan.; two daughters, Karen Miller of Callaway, and Charlene Sheeren and her husband William of Navarre, Fla.; a half-brother, Gordon Cox of Corona, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

FANNIE WELSH DICKEY
Fannie Welsh Dickey, 96, of 1107 Arthur Ave., Panama City, died Thursday, Feb. 22, 2001, in a local hospital. She had been a lifelong resident of Bay County. Mrs. Dickey was preceded in death by her husband, Byron Henry Dickey. She is survived by two daughters, Oveida Biever of Seabrook, Texas, Bonnie Taylor of Panama City; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will he held Monday at 11 a.m. in the Wilson Funeral Chapel with Richard Post officiating. Interment will follow in the Compass Lake Cemetery.

JOE DAVIS ELLIS
Mr. Joe Davis Ellis, age 68, of Altha, died Thursday in Bay Medical Center in Panama City. Mr. Ellis was born in Decatur County, Ga., and had lived in Altha since 1969. He was owner and operator of Ellis Farm and Spreader Service until his retirement in 1984. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church near Grand Ridge. Survivors include his wife, Vetta Hall Ellis of Altha; one daughter and son-in-law, Kathy E. and Rick Hartenstein of Lake Panasoftkee, Fla.; mother, Mrs. Pearl Ellis of Grand Ridge; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ed and Wanda Ellis of Marianna, Earl and Marlene Ellis of Altha; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Jewell and Charles Benefield of Grand Ridge, Margaret and Woodrow Benefield of McClenney; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a son, Joseph David (Skeeter) Ellis. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. CST in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church near Grand Ridge with the Rev. John G. Hall officiating. Interment will follow in Shady Grove Cemetery near Grand Ridge. The family will receive friends at Adams Funeral Home in Altha from 6 to 8 p.m. today.

LUCILLE MAYO FARRIS
Lucille Mayo Farris, 89, of Panama City, died Friday Feb. 23, 2001, in a local nursing home. She lived in Alabama most of her life but moved to Panama City several years ago. She was a member of St. Andrew Primitive Baptist Church and was an avid gardener. She was preceded in death by her husband, James C. Farris. She is survived by one son, Dr. Billy R. Farris and wife Mary of Elba, Ala.; one daughter, Elizabeth Hawkins and husband, Bill of Panama City; six grandchildren, Michael and Angela Hawkins, of Colleyville, Texas, Tim Hawkins of Panama City, Wendy and J. Ray Smith of Decatur; Sarah and Dr. Michael Wilensky of Birmingham; Billy II and Leigh Farris of Shelby, Ala., and Beau and Kim Farris of Killen, Ala. She also left nine great-grandchildren-to whom she was loved as G.G., also two stepgrandchildren and three stepgreat-grandchildren; one sister, Cervilla Newcomb of Kansas, Alabama; many relatives and special friends including the entire staff of Bay Crest Nursing Center; special friends, Barbara Grimes and Carmen Decker. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Elder J.C. Stanaland officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 4 to 6 p.m. Graveside services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in Memory Hills Garden Cemetery in Tuscaloosa, Ala. Those desiring to may make a donation to Bay County Alzheimer's Association, 1306 Jenks Avenue, Panama City, Florida 32404 in memory of Mrs. Lucille Farris.
