Mrs. Ammie Loraine Sexton, 75, of Panama City, Fla., passed away, Saturday, Sept. 1, 2001, in a local hospital. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2001, at 1 p.m. in the Southerland Family Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Warren Waldroff officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

IRIS JANE DARLING ALLEN
A beautiful life came to a close Aug. 30, 2001, and it is with much sadness that we say goodbye to our beloved mother, Sister Iris Jane Darling Allen. She was born in Washington County, the youngest child of the late Carey and Emma Darling, on Dec. 7, 1938. She joined Orange Hill Baptist Church of Washington County at an early age. She later became a dedicated member of the New Hope Baptist Church of Lynn Haven, Fla., where she was a member of the choir and served on the Missionary Board. In 1959 she married Rufus L. Allen and from this union gave birth to six children. She was a beloved sister and mother. Her joy was in serving the Lord and in giving of herself to others. Left to cherish her memories are five children, Rodney (Lynona) Allen of Killeen, Texas, Edith Elaine (Raymond) Bates of Sierra Vista, Ariz., Pamela Lee (Anthony) Johnson of Clarksville, Tenn., Rufus Lee Allen Jr. of Phoenix, Ariz., and Cynthia Lee Allen of Augusta, Ga., (she was preceded in death by her eldest son, Carlos Eugene Allen); two sisters, Dolly (Paul) Monroe of Alford, Fla., and Rebecca Hartwell of Panama City, Fla.; one brother, Ural (Mary) Darling of Westbury, N.Y.; 13 grandchildren, Spencer Dura Masslieno-Allen, 23, Lashanda Denise Allen, 20, Raymond Lee Batey Jr., 21, Nicholas Adrian Batey, 19, Nicole Elaine Batey, 19, Naomi Lynea Batey, 17, Justin Adam Batey, 10, Jeanette Renee Johnson, 15, Anthony Quin Johnson Jr., 11, Brandon Lamar Allen, 15, Xavier Khalil Allen, 9, Marcus Dupree Allen, 6, Autumn Nirissa Allen, 3, and Elizabeth Malana Allen, 18 months; and one great-grandchild, Alanah Cymone Simmons; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Allen will be held Thursday, Sept. 6, 2001, at 11 a.m. in the New Hope Baptist Church with the Rev. Lemuel D. Glover Sr. Officiating. Interment will follow in the Orange Hill Cemetery in Washington County. Public visitation will begin this afternoon at the funeral home at 1 p.m. A family hour will be held in the Battle Memorial Funeral Home Chapel from 7 to 8 p.m. today. The remains will lie in state one hour prior to services at the church. The family will receive friends at their residence: 1608 Louisiana Ave., Lynn Haven, Fla.

Funeral services for John Thomas Barnes, 81, of Panama City, who died on Aug. 31, 2001, will be held today, Sept. 5, 2001, at 10 a.m. in the First Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Phil Edwards officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The following gentlemen will serve as active pallbearers, Carl Brannon, Billie Barnes, Gene Barnes, Rodney Barnes, John Corlett and Edward Barnes. Honorary pallbearers will be the men's Bible class from the church.

Beale 64, of Panama City, who died Aug. 31,2001, will be held today, Sept. 5, 2001, at 3:30 p.m. in the Unity Church of Panama City at 1764 Lisenby Ave., Panama City, with the Rev. LEOLA STEPHENSON COUCH
Mrs. Leola Stephenson Couch, 85, of Panama City Beach, died Monday, Sept. 3, 2001, in the Retirement Center of Panama City. Mrs. Couch was a former member of the Women's Civic Club, Beach Garden Club and Does of the Elks. She was Baptist by faith and loved to square dance and devote time to gardening. Mrs. Couch was preceded in death by her loving husband, Marion Couch, in 1988; also three brothers and two sisters. She is survived by her son, Jerry Couch and wife Glenda of Panama City Beach; granddaughters, Kathy Lynn Webb and husband David of Valrico, Lorri Joan Crawford and husband Bill of Tallahassee, Julie Kay Couch of Asheville, N.C., Cheri Leigh Dickson and husband David of Columbia, S.C., Beverly Todd and husband Kyle, Cynthia McElreath and husband Michael, both of Panama City; grandson, Glenn Warren and wife Debbie, also of Panama City; and 18 great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Mrs. Couch will be held at graveside at 11 a.m. Thursday in The Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Pastor Don Anderson officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Couch at 3821 Mariner Drive, Panama City Beach. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Leola Couch to the Hospice of Northwest Florida at 2589 Jenks Ave., Panama City, FL 32405.

CARMEL ROY DALTON
Carmel Roy Dalton, age 61, of Panama City, Fla., passed on to be with our Lord Sept. 2, 2001. He was born of Roy C. and Pearl C. Dalton in Albany, Ky., April 26, 1940. Since arriving in Panama City in 1969 he was employed at Kendrick Rowell. He is survived by his wife, Alice Jean Dalton; four children, Barbara Dalton, Ginger Dalton, Dawn Dalton and Mark C. Dalton; two stepchildren, R.C. Williams and Towana Ice; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He also has one surviving sister, Nan Hall; and one brother, Hugh Dalton. He is preceded in death by his parents, Roy C. and Pearl C. Dalton and older brother, Orville Dalton. Mr. Dalton was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed. The viewing will be held at Southerland Funeral Home, 100 E. 19th St. from 9 to 11 a.m. prior to the service.

AMOS HERBERT DAVIS
Mr. Amos Herbert Davis, age 78, of 407 Timber Lane, Panama City, Fla., passed away Friday, Aug. 31, 2001, at his home. He was born July 28, 1923, to Amos Herbert and Lillian Davis in Murphysboro, Ill. Mr. Davis formerly lived in Peoria, Ill., and Cuba, Ill. He was a vice president with Kiefer Electrical Supply from 1978 until 1988, vice president of AZCO, Inc. from 1978 until 1979, vice president of Freeman United Coal Mining Co. from 1976 until 1978, and plant manager and vice president of Central Illinois Co. from 1948 until 1976. Mr. Davis served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and World War II. He was awarded the Silver Star, Bronze Star and Cluster, Purple Heart and Cluster, Combat Infantry Badge, and eight Battle Stars. Mr. Davis is survived by his wife, Carolyn Davis of Panama City, Fla.; his children, John Davis of Peoria, Ill., Ann Davis of Atlanta, Ga., Brad Freeman and his wife Cindi of Norwalk, Iowa, Kirk Freeman and his wife Nurhyhat, Geneva, Switzerland, and Gregg Freeman and his wife April of Lee's Summit, Mo; grandchildren, Stephanie, Kimberly, Zacc, Jessie, Thaddeus, Scott and Mike; and a sister, Thelma Switzer of Seal Beach, Calif. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Leah Golliher and Stella Heidler. Memorials may be made in Mr. Davis' name to Zion Cemetery, c/o Nancy Siefert, 223 N. 18th St., Murphysboro, Ill. 62966.

CLARENCE OTIS DUNLAP
Mr. Clarence Otis Dunlap, 74, of Albany, Ga., died Sunday in LaGrange, Ga., Mr. Dunlap was born Dec. 11, 1926, in New Smyrna Beach, Fla., the son of the late Ollie and Mary T. Dunlap. He had made his home in Albany for the past 39 years and attended First Assembly of God and Sherwood Baptist Church. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and an Army paratrooper. He was the owner of Dunlap Burglar and Fire Alarm. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Martha W. Dunlap of Albany; two daughters and sons-in-law, Janet D. and Charles A. Reed of Lynn Haven, Penny and Curtis Hart of LaGrange; grandchildren, Joshua Bryant, John Bryant Jr., Matthew Reed, Mary Reed, Kriss Hart, Monica Hart Swendenburg; four great-grandchildren; sister, Emily and Edgar Crum, Sopchoppy, Fla.; brother and sister-in-law, David and Jean Dunlap, Sopchoppy; sister-in-law, Mary Dunlap, Sopchoppy; aunt, Evelyn Dean, Alma, Ga.; several nieces and nephews. Cryptside funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. today, Sept. 5, from the Shadowlawn Mausoleum, LaGrange, with Pastor VanWinkle officiating. JANE J. ETTEN
Jane J. Etten, 80, of Panama City Beach, Fla., and formerly of Neenah, Wis., died while in the care of the Wausau Hospice Houme on Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2001. Jane was born Jan. 7, 1921, in Appleton, Wis., the daughter of the late Henry and Rose (Steinacker) Haferbecker. She married Marvin P. Etten on June 6, 1942, in Appleton, Wis. Marvin preceded her in death on May 13, 1996. Jane was a devoted wife, a loving mother, energetic shopper and enjoyed card games and golf. Following Marvin's retirement, she enjoyed life at the beach in Florida and at the lake in Shawano. She drew great joy from her many children and grandchildren. Survivors include three daughters, Penny (James) Mahloch, Shawano, Wis.; Patricia (Michael) Carr, Oconomowoc, Wis., and Michele (Robert) Edmisson, Cherry Hills Village, Colo.; four sons, Marvin (Mary) Paul Etten Jr., Clifton Park, N.Y.; Stewart (Tracy) Etten, Wausau, Wis.; John (Kathy) Etten, Aberdeen, Scotland, and Robert (Christy) Etten, Madison, Wis.; 16 grandchildren, Matthew Etten, Mark Etten, Peter Etten, Paul Etten, Kalen (Mahloch) Geske, Katherine Mahloch, Susan (Mahloch) Huntington, Michael Mahloch, Ashley Edmisson, Austin Edmission, Clark Etten, Treva Etten, Jordan Etten, Kallie Etten, Shannon Etten and Hannah Etten; one sister, Elizabeth Pegel; and one brother, Melvin (Margaret) Haferbecker, both of Appleton, Wis. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, 2001, at St. Martin's Catholic Church, Cecil, Wis. Burial was held at Highland Memorial Park Cemetery, Appleton, Wis. Brainard Funeral Home in Wausau, Wis., was in charge of the arrangements. Memorial may be sent to Panama City Rescue Mission or The Salvation Army, Panama City, Fla. Jane's love and enduring spirit will be mised by all her family and friends.

Vera Jo Mills, 65, of 9339 Franklin Drive, Fountain, Fla., was called home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus on Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2001. She was a native of Bay County. Vera was a very dedicated wife and mother and will be greatly missed by those who loved her and whose lives she touched. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Mr. Joseph Brown Porter and Vera Mae Porter; six brothers, a sister, a grandson and a nephew. She is survived by her husband, Robert "Dooley" Mills Sr.; four daughters, Alesia Harris, Crystal Mills, Angela Blick and her husband Vincent, Jodi Majeske and her husband, Brent; six sons, Frank Stricklen Jr., Dennis Mills, Robert Mills Jr. and friend Kathy Sawyer, Douglas Mills and wife Caroline, Joe Don Mills and wife Laurie, Jason Mills; two brothers, Don Porter and wife Vera Mae, Jerry Porter and wife Vera; two sisters, Georgia Henderson, Linda Burkett; special nephews, Brady Mills, Jon Mills; 27 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 6 to 8 p.m. The family will be at the home of Joe Don Mills, 2022 Forest Ave., Panama City, after the funeral service.
