Dr. Robert A. Gruesen, M.D.
Dr. Robert A. Gruesen, M.D., 82, Bradenton, passed away Dec. 6, 2014.
Dr. Gruesen was born
May 21, 1932 in Ft. Atkinson, WI to the late Frank and Geneva Gruesen. He was a graduate from the University Of Wisconsin School Of Medicine. Dr. Gruesen then served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Following his military service he specialized as a neurosurgeon.
Dr. Gruesen practiced neurosurgery in the Green Bay, WI area for over 30 years. He attended the daily mass at the chapel at St. Vincent Medical Center in Green Bay. He moved to Bradenton, 17 years ago, and locally was a member of the Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church.
He was predeceased by his two siblings; Frank Gruesen and Katherine Hanson, and is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Shelly of Bradenton, four sons; Robert A. Jr,, Michael and Steven Gruesen all of Green Bay, WI, Christopher Nader of Bradenton, FL, four daughters; Pam (George) Stanley of Menomonee Falls, WI, Annemarie (Todd) DeVillers of Green Bay, WI, Sara (Josh) Nader-Hund of Sarasota, FL, Maria Gruesen of Bradenton, eighteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Mass will be held at a later date locally in Bradenton. Visitation and Services will be held in Green Bay, WI.
The family request that in lieu of flowers that memorials be made to Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in his memory.
Dr. Guy Santos DaSilva, M.D.
Dr. Guy Santos DaSilva, M.D., 58 of Bradenton, passed away on November 30, 2014.
Dr. DaSilva was born
on July 9, 1956 in Bay Shore, New York to Jose Pereria & Doris Nilda (Rivera) DaSilva.
He graduated in 1978 from Southampton College with a degree in biochemistry. He went on to earn his medical degree in 1986 from the Spartan Health Sciences University School of Medicine in the British West Indies. He went on to serve his residency and fellowship training at the Brooklyn Hospital Center, State University of New York Downstate Medical College, St. Vincent’s Medical Center, New York Medical College, Hartford Hospital and North Shore University Hospital , Cornell Medical School..
After his training he served as Assistant Professor of Medicine and Pathology at the University of Kansas School of Medicine. Was the Director of Hematology and Hematopathology at the Kansas University Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. Later on was recruited and appointed as Director of Forcyte Laboratory. And then the CEO and Medical Director of HemePath Institute.
Dr. DaSilva moved to Bradenton ten years ago coming from Monroe, Connecticut. Locally he was founder eight years ago of the DaSilva Institute of Anti-aging, Regenerative and Functional Medicine in Sarasota, Florida. He was also a member of the Bayside Community Church East Campus in Bradenton.
Dr. DaSilva was predeceased by his father Jose Pereria DaSilva and is survived by his loving wife Tina Marie (Staiano) DaSilva of Bradenton, one daughter, Ashley Tina DaSilva of Bradenton, four sons; Jeffrey Guy DaSilva, Christian Guy DaSilva, Austin Alexander DaSilva all of Bradenton, LaVaughn Coleman of Brooklyn, New York, mother, Doris Nilda DaSilva of Long Island, New York, three brothers and their wives; Joe and Tilde DaSilva, Dennis and Diane DaSilva, Gary and Kimberly DaSilva all of Long Island, New York, and many extended family members, friends and patients.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M.-12 Noon on Friday, December 5, 2014 at the Bayside Community Church East Campus, 15800 State Road 64 East, Bradenton. A Celebration of Dr. DaSilva’s life will follow the visitation at 12Noon.

Mr. Norman Ralph Bridwell, Jr.
Norman Ralph Bridwell, Jr., 61 of Palmetto, Florida passed away on Monday, December 1, 2014 at the Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton.
Norman was born
on April 19, 1953 in Terre Haute, Indiana to the late Norman R. Sr. and Hester Bridwell. He has been a resident of Manatee County for over 15 years, and drove the Veterans Bus to Bay Pines V.A.M.C. in Bay Pines for Manatee County for 15 years.
He was predeceased by a sister, Anne Wells and is survived by his son, Charles of Palmetto, sister Nalma Bridwell and many extended family members and friends.
Private family services will be held at a later date.

Mrs. Connie Jo Twiggs
Connie Jo Twiggs, 68 of Bradenton, passed away Monday, December 1, 2014 at the Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton.
Connie was born
on June 12, 1946 in Lafayette, Indiana to the late Ben and Eloise (Grolo) Nydegger. She worked as a caregiver in the local Lafayette area nursing homes and assisted living facilities. She was also a member of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints in Lafayette.
Connie moved to Bradenton in 1978.
She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Amber Henderson and is survived by her two sons and their wives’; Paul and Meleah Howard of Bradenton, Henry and Jean Howard of Bradenton, one daughter and her husband; Amy and Gary, Jr. Henderson of Lafayette, Indiana, two brothers and their wives’; Dick and Lee Nydegger of Brookston, Indiana, Jack and Betty Nydegger of Bradenton, Florida, two sisters; Carolyn and her husband Clyde Johnson of Spring Hill, Florida, Nancy Balsor of Lafayette, Indiana, six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and many extended family members and friends.
A private celebration of Connie’s life will be held at a later date in Lafayette, Indiana where she will be buried in the family cemetery.

S.Sgt Henry M. Piecuch
S.Sgt Henry M. Piecuch-U.S. Army, 91, Bradenton, Florida, passed away on November 25, 2014 at the Bay Pines V.A.M.C. in Bay Pines, Florida.
Henry was born
on August 4, 1923 in Lawrence, Massachusetts to the late Mathew and Anna (Cwiklik) Piecuch. He served his country faithfully during World War II, where he served with the United States Army. While serving he flew several combat missions as a radio operator and waist gunner on a B-24. It was on one of those missions that he was shot down over Yugoslavia and evaded the German forces for 27 days. Then on his 6th mission over Southern Austria he was shot down again and this time was captured and served as a prisoner of war for four months. After serving his tour of duty Henry was discharged from the U.S. Army in November of 1945, and was the recipient of the Air Medal, Distinguished Unit Badge, Victory Ribbon, American Theater Ribbon, EAME Ribbon with five Bronze Stars and Good Conduct Medal.
He went on to work for the Federal Government as a Federal Auditor with the Federal Highway Administration for many years, which he retired from.
Henry moved to Bradenton, Florida in February of 1981 and was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 1511 of Bradenton, where he was honored for being a life member for over 50 years, and was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans.
He was predeceased by his loving wife Virginia in November of 2005, three brothers; Edward and Leonard Piecuch, Theodore Petczo, and three sisters; Stacia Hall, Virginia Lynch and Julia Flannigan. He is survived by numerous extended family members, military comrades and numerous friends over the years.
A graveside service will be held for S.Sgt. Henry M. Piecuch in the spring of 2015 at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia where he will be laid to rest with his wife.

Martha G. Goodson, 77, Tampa, Florida, formerly of Bradenton, passed away on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at the Gulfside Hospice in Zephyrhills, Florida.
She was born
on August 13, 1937 in Bradenton, Florida to the late Thomas Rucker , Sr. and Martha (Snyder) Graves. She resided in Manatee and Hillsborough during her lifetime and was a homemaker and political activist.
Martha is survived by her son, Daniel B. Goodson and a brother Thomas R. Graves, Jr.
A graveside celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 29, 2014 at the Palmetto City Cemetery on 10th Street West in Palmetto, Florida.

Col. John Atkinson U.S.A.F.-Retired
Col. John Atkinson U.S.A.F.-Retired, 96, of Holmes Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, November 24, 2014.
Col. Atkinson was born
on November 3, 1918 in Auburn, Alabama to the late Thomas and Irene (Caroll) Atkinson. He served with the United States Air Force as pilot during World War II and the Korean Conflict, retiring after many years of loyal service as a Colonel.
He moved to Manatee County over 40 years ago, and served on the Bradenton City Commission for several years and served as Vice-Mayor of Bradenton. He also worked for 15 years as a broker with Merrill Lynch in Bradenton. After living in Bradenton for many years he moved to Holmes Beach. Col. Atkinson was also a member of the Retired Air Corps, and the Kirby Stewart American Legion Post # 24 of Bradenton.
Col. Atkinson was predeceased by his loving wife Nancy Atkinson in March of 2013, a son Tommy, and two brothers. He is survived by his son, Burt Atkinson and his wife Glena of Pompano Beach, Florida, two daughters; Corrine Pool of Bryan, Ohio, Sherry Kirschner and her husband John of Celina, Ohio, step-daughter, Christine and Steven Nelson of Bradenton, one sister, Sara Miller and her husband Jack of Bradenton, Florida, eight grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and many extended family members and friends.
A celebration of Col. John Atkinson’s life will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, November 28, 2014 in the Clubhouse of the Key Royale Country Club on Holmes Beach with full military honors by the Kirby Stewart American Legion Post #24 of Bradenton.
