Patrick Barry Dwyer 75, of Eustis, passed away on August 7, 2010. He was born in Queens County, New York and moved here from Massachusetts in 2000. Mr. Dwyer was a retired manager in the airline industry and catholic. He served his country in the United States Army.

Mr. Dwyer is survived by his wife Katherine, his children; Leslie Dwyer of Leesburg, Virginia, Meredith Dwyer of Plymouth, Massachusetts, Patrick Dwyer of Dorchester, Massachusetts, Fiona Mackie of London, England, Elspeth Dwyer of Dorchester, Massachusetts and James Dwyer of Boston, Massachusetts and four grandchildren.

April 2, 1930 - August 13, 2010

Hulda M. Wood 80, of Eustis, passed away on Friday August 13, 2010. She was born in Myakka City, Florida and moved here from Charlotte County in 1957. Mrs. Wood was a member of the Grand Island Baptist Church, and had worked as an Licensed Practical Nurse at Harry Anna Hospital in Umatilla and the Mount Dora Medic Home.

She is survived by her children; Linda (Sandy) Colley of St. Augustine and Deborah (George) Ryon of Umatilla, her sisters; Veleska Keen of Arcadia, Ila Roberts of Clearwater and Willie Shores of Georgia, her grandchildren; Shannon Broughton of Lexington, Kentucky, Kasey Ryon of Umatilla, Sean Colley of Trenton, Florida, Christy Saffell of Ft. Myers, Florida, Bradley Ryon and Charles Ryon both of Umatilla, her great-grandchildren; Raelin Colley, Hannah Broughton, Kinsey Colley, Adrianna, Tyson and Kaitlyn Saffell.

Funeral services were held in the Grand Island Baptist Church at 2 PM Monday, August 16, 2010 with Rev. Donald J. Feezor, interment followed in Lakeside Memory Gardens, Eustis. Galo F. Gomez
October 16, 1933 - August 18, 2010

Galo F. Gomez 76, of Orlando, passed away on Wednesday August 18, 2010. He was born in Cuba and moved to Orlando from Eustis in 1961. Mr. Gomez was a member of The Vine of Greater Orlando, a Veteran having served in the United States Navy and retired from Publix as a meat cutter.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Martinia; his children Ricky (Loretta) Basher of Deltona, Theresa (Charlie) McCauley of Orlando, Kenneth Gomez of Sanford, Daphene (Robert) Michniak of Orlando and Elizabeth (Larry) Siekawitch of St. Could, Minnesota; his grandchildren, Ricky (Danielle) Basher, Kevin Basher, Jeffrey Anderson, Jesse Anderson, Duston (Tamada) Ray, Christian Gomez, Noah Gomez, Robbie Michniak, Daniel Siekawitch, Isaac Siekawitch and Mark Siekawitch; great-grandchildren, Ricky, Alyssa, Alaura and Tatum and his sister, Isabel Rodriquez of Orlando.

Funeral services were held in the Hamlin & Hilbish Chapel in Eustis, on Saturday August 21, 2010, at 1 PM. Dr. Larry Daniel Siekawitch officiated. Interment followed in Lakeside Memory Gardens, Eustis.

Raymond R. Cook
July 2, 1919 - August 19, 2010

Raymond R. Cook 91, of Leesburg passed away on Thursday August 19, 2010. He was born in Herman, New York and moved here from Philadelphia, New York in 2008. He was a retired U.S. Army Cook and served during WWII and the Korean War. He was a Presbyterian.

He is survived by his children; Jean (Robert) Ketchum of Leesburg, Carol (Robert) Butts of Vermont and Mitchell (Terry) Cook of Heuvelton, New York; two brothers, Floyd Cook of Philadelphia, Texas and George Cook of Austin, Texas; four sisters, Eva Foster of Russell, New York, Doris Durgan of Rome, New York, Shirley of Georgia and Mavis Jean of North Dakota; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

Maggie B. Evans Esq.
December 10, 1949 - August 20, 2010

Maggie B. Evans, Esq. 60, of Umatilla, passed away on Friday August 20, 2010. She was born in Rockville Centre, New York, and was an attorney in Lake County and Mount Dora since 1984. She was a Christian and a member of the Board of Directors of the Florida Hospital Waterman Foundation and Florida Hospital Waterman. She was also active in the Mid Florida Guardianship Association, was Past Co-chair of the Florida Bar Judicial Nominating Commission and Past Chair of the Florida Bar Grievance Committee.

Maggie is survived by her children Landon Evans of Ohio and Kristyna Evans of Umatilla, her sisters, Ellen (Bud) Waltrip of Pisgah Forest, North Carolina and Janet Oorbeek of Hollywood, Florida, her grandson Jake, and many nieces and nephews.

Services were held in the First Presbyterian Church of Eustis at 4 PM on Thursday, August 26, 2010 with Chaplain Bob Whitworth officiating. In lieu of flowers, please direct memorials to The Florida Hospital Waterman Foundation, 1500 Waterman Way, Tavares, FL 32778.

Mary O. Baker
May 4, 1923 - August 25, 2010

Mary O. Baker 87, of Mount Dora passed away on Wednesday August 25, 2010. She was born in Summerfield, Ohio and moved here from St. Clairsville, Ohio in 2003. She was Catholic and had attended St. Mary of the Lakes Catholic Church in Eustis. Mrs. Baker was a retired secretary for Switzerland of Ohio Public Schools.

She is survived by her children, Marlene (Frank) Gillespie of Gaithersburg, Maryland, Earl “Joe” (Mary) Baker of Grand Island and Larry (Merry) Baker of Mount Dora, her brother Rodney Leach of Massillon, Ohio, her grandchildren, Jason (Jennifer) Lucas (Estelle) Andy (Heather) Baker and Matt(Jennifer) Megan and Gregory Gillespie Jason and Gregory Gillespie and her great-grand children Daniel, Allison, Kate, Nicklaus, Luke, Max, Zach Baker and Jackson and Adelaide Gillespie.

Wake Service was held in the Steverson, Hamlin & Hilbish Chapel in Tavares, on Saturday, August 28, 2010 at 3 PM with Deacon William Fisher officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Caldwell, Ohio. The family requests those desiring direct memorials to Meadowlands Assisted Living, 6767 Roundlake Road, Mount Dora, FL 32757.

Helen Amelia Hutt
August 24, 2010

Helen Amelia Hutt, 97, of Port Clinton, died Tuesday Aug. 24, 2010, at Stein Hospice Care Center in Sandusky. She was born Aug. 14, 1913, in Cleveland, the daughter of Arthur and Rose (Bachstadt) Hutt.

Helen graduated from Elyria High School and Lake Erie College then received her Master's degree from Columbia University. She was a teacher in schools and colleges. In 1943, she worked for the American Red Cross in Europe, Panama and the Pacific. She later worked for the former Welfare Department and, later, Children's Services.

A tireless volunteer, Helen began teaching swimming lessons at age 14 for the Red Cross. In addition to her armed forces service, she also volunteered in the organization's blood collection and disaster relief programs. In 2007, the Red Cross honored her with an 80-year pin for her volunteer service.

Helen was a member of the First Congregational Church of Elyria and the Trinity United Methodist Church, BPW of Port Clinton. She was a lifetime member of the Riverview Auxiliary and the Magruder Hospital Auxiliary, a board member for the Red Cross and Home Health and Hospice, and a member of the Women in Military Service of America. Her interests included world travel and a love for Lake Erie's natural beauty.

She is survived by her nephew, Larry Hutt of Florida, and niece, Linda Hutt Hull of Los Alamos NM. Helen was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Arthur P. Hutt.

Funeral services were held at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Port Clinton, Ohio at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 28th. Burial will be in the family plot in Greenwood cemetery in Eustis, Fla. In lieu of flowers, you are asked to consider the American Red Cross, the Riverview Auxiliary, or the Charity of one's choice.

Gregory L. Harvison
August 29, 2010

Gregory L. Harvison 55, of Eustis passed peacefully to be with his Lord on Sunday August 29, 2010 with his family and his Pastor by his side. He was born in Jacksonville and moved to Eustis with his family in 1961. He was a Realtor. Greg was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Eustis and the Greater Lake County Association of Realtors.

He is survived by his parents, Don and Barbara Harvison of Mount Dora, his brothers, Gary W. Harvison of Eustis and Douglas Harvison of Boulder, Colorado, one niece and two nephews.

The family received friends in the Hamlin & Hilbish Chapel on Friday, Sept 3, 2010 from 5 until 7 PM. Funeral Services were held in The First Presbyterian Church of Eustis at 10 AM Saturday September 4, 2010. Rev. Leon Bloder officiated. Interment followed in Greenwood Cemetery, Eustis. Terry E. Osborn
September 6, 1938 - August 30, 2010

Terry E. Osborn, 71 of Sorrento passed away at his home on Monday, August 30, 2010. He was born in Dunkirk, Indiana and moved to Sorrento in 1989 from Washington, Oklahoma. Mr. Osborn served in the United States Air Force from 1953 to 1957.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Geneva Osborn of Sorrento; four Sons, Kent, Kris, Kirk, and Terry; three Daughters Karen, Janelle, and Cecilia; three sisters Sue, Nancy, and Janelle; 13 Grandchildren, and 3 Great-Grandchildren.

Edna R. Myers
March 28, 1927 - September 3, 2010

Edna R. Myers, 83, of Leesburg, passed away on Friday, September 3, 2010. She was born in Leaksville, North Carolina.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Daniel T. Myers Sr., her Daughter, Mary Catherine Teet of Altamonte Springs; her Step-Sons, Gerald Wayne Myers of Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, and Daniel Thomas Myers Jr. of Beaufort, North Carolina; her Step-Daughter, Gladys Jones of Overland Park, Kansas; 7 Grandchildren and 6 Great-Grandchildren.

Services were held on Saturday, September 11, 2010 in Calvary Christian Church in Martinsville, Virginia. For Service information call Collins & McKee-Stone Funeral Home, 276-632-3466, in Martinsville, VA.

Darlene Marie Sveum
May 7, 1923 - September 14, 2010

Darlene Marie Palensky Sveum was born May 7, 1923, to Frank and Stella Palensky on the family farm near Crete, N.D. She attended a country school, then a school in Crete and later Oakes (N.D.) High School, where she graduated in 1941.

She worked on the family farm, then in the winter of 1941 worked as a domestic in St. Paul, Minn. She returned to the family farm in the spring of 1942. She worked on the farm and at several restaurants in Oakes.

She was married to James Obenchain on Jan. 27, 1945, in Milnor, N.D. The couple farmed near Stirum, N.D. She worked at the tree nursery in Oakes and for the Streich Potato Company of Englevale, N.D. The couple later lived near Glover, N.D., where she worked in the home. Darlene and James Obenchain had eight children.

She later moved to Verona, N.D., where she was a member of St. Raphael’s Catholic Church and a member of the parish’s Ladies Circle. She was also a member of the Parent-Teacher Association.

On Oct. 5, 1972, she married Erv Sveum in LaMoure, N.D. In the summer of 1974, the couple moved to Cooperstown, N.D. He died on Sept. 13, 1983.

She moved to Eustis, Fla., in November 2006.

She worked at Green Thumb in Cooperstown for eight years, as a clerk at the thrift store and as a clerk for the Cooperstown C.C.A.A. She also worked as a domestic.

She was a member of St. George’s Catholic Church in Cooperstown and of St. Ann’s Circle at the church. She was a member of the board of directors of Southside Apartments, a member of the Masonic Squares square dance club and the garden club, all in Cooperstown.

She enjoyed square dancing, gardening, cooking and visiting with friends and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Stella Palensky; husband, James Obenchain; by a daughter, Sheila (Vince) Habel; and a son, Allen (Susie) Obenchain.

She is survived by: son, Bill Obenchain, St. Cloud, FL; daughter, Cheryl (Henry) Richie, Dona Vista, FL; daughter, Sandra Obenchain, Lancaster, PA; daughter, Susane (Steve) Erickson, Rochester, MN; son, Barry Obenchain, North Ft. Myers, FL; son, Bryan (Cindy) Obenchain, Minot, ND. She is also survived by grandchildren: Shelly Habel, (Philip Sundell), Alexandria, VA; Erin & Bailey Obenchain, Minot, ND; Jim (Lori) Obenchain, Pawtucket, RI; Benny Obenchain, PA; Clint Obenchain, PA, and great-grandchildren Ryan & Emma Obenchain, Pawtucket, RI. She is also survived by her sisters: Theresa Skovgaard, Peoria, AZ; Marilyn Feltis, Edgeley, ND; and Madalyn Palensky, Ketchikan, AK, as well as nieces & nephews.

Memorial services were held in the Waterman Village Chapel on Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at 4 PM with Dr. Alan Jones, Chaplain officiating. Mrs. Sveum will be transferred to Oakes, North Dakota for final services and interment. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations may be made to the Waterman Communities Foundation, 445 Waterman Avenue, Mount Dora, FL 32757 or St. George's Catholic Church 809 8th St NW. Cooperstown, ND 58425.
