Ina Mae Vermeulen

INTERLACHEN - Ina Mae Vermeulen of Interlachen died Wednesday at Shands Rehabilitation Hospital in Gainesville after a long illness. She was 76.

Mrs. Vermeulen was a homemaker and former employee of Central States Diversified in Palatka. Born in Yadkinville, N.C., she moved from South Pittsburg, Tenn., to Interlachen 42 years ago.

Mrs. Vermeulen was a member of the Interlachen United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.

Survivors include her husband, Dickey Vermeulen of Interlachen; two daughters, Jane Fuller of Interlachen and Margaret Pasek of Jacksonville; a brother, Bill Poindexter of Enon, N.C.; three sisters, Helen Dixon of Enon, Mildred Johnson of Pfafftown, N.C., and Lula Greene of Portsmouth, Va.; and one granddaughter.

Archie Wilkinson

WINDSOR - Archie Wilkinson of Windsor died Wednesday at his home. He was 69.

Mr. Wilkinson was a retired plant assigner for Southern Bell. He also served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. A lifelong resident of Windsor, Mr. Wilkinson was a graduate of Melrose High School.

He was a Methodist and a member of the Gainesville Elks Lodge No. 990.

Mr. Wilkinson was preceded in death by a son, Tony Wilkinson.

Survivors include his wife, Gwen White Wilkinson of Windsor; a daughter, Sherry O'Steen of Gainesville; two sons, Richard Wilkinson and Mike Wilkinson, both of Windsor; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to Hospice of North Central Florida.

Mildred E. Campbell

ST. PETERSBURG - Mildred E. Campbell of St. Petersburg died Feb. 23 at Bayfront Medical Center here. She was 72.

Mrs. Campbell was a homemaker and a Baptist.

She was born in Jonesboro, Ga., grew up in Gainesville, and lived in Tampa for 30 years before moving to St. Petersburg last year. She graduated from P.K. Yonge.

Mrs. Campbell was a Baptist.

Survivors include her husband, Raymond E. Campbell of St. Petersburg; two daughters; a sister; and two grandchildren.

Carrie L. Crawford

CHIEFLAND - Carrie L. Crawford of Chiefland died Feb. 24 at Hospice of Gainesville. She was 74.

Mrs. Crawford was a homemaker and a member of the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church.

Born in Crestview, she moved from Otter Creek to Chiefland 45 years ago.

Survivors include three sons, Ossie Mack, Johnnie Mack and Willie D. Mack, all of Chiefland; three daughters, Hattie Sheffield, Carrie Mae Mack and Bertha Mae Sheffield, all of Chiefland; and a grandson.

Veola S. Fugate

WILLISTON - Veola S. "Sweetie" Fugate of Williston died here Tuesday at the Oakview Rehab and Care Center. She was 86.

Mrs. Fugate was a homemaker.

Born in Old Town, she moved from Gulf Hammock to Williston 70 years ago.

Mrs. Fugate was a member of the United Methodist Church in Williston and was a past member of the Pink Ladies of Williston and a former Sunday school teacher.

She enjoyed cooking, canning food and fishing.

Survivors include two sons, Duane Fugate and Lewie D. Fugate, both of Williston; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Willie C. Gill

EVINSTON - Willie C. Gill of Evinston died Friday at Alachua Nursing and Rehab Center. He was 81.

Mr. Gill was a retired farmer.

Born in Winnsboro, S.C., he moved to Evinston at a young age.

Mr. Gill was a member of the African Methodist Episcopal Church.

Survivors include a son, Ray Sawyer of Gainesville; three sisters, Carrie Payton of Micanopy, Marie J. Graham of Riviera Beach and Rebecca Hall of Rochelle; and two brothers, James M. Gill of Micanopy and Lewis Dawkins of Baltimore.

Almetta Bullard Jones

Almetta Bullard "Ma-Sang" Jones of Gainesville died Saturday at Alachua Nursing Care Center after a long illness. She was 85.

Mrs. Jones was a retired housekeeping supervisor for the University of Florida.

A lifelong resident of Gainesville, she was a Deaconess at the Greater Fort Clarke Missionary Baptist Church.

Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her husband, Deacon George Jones; and a son, Roosevelt "Popsicle" Jones.

Survivors include a daughter, Catherine "Mama Jones" West of Gainesville; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Nadine Carroll Morgan

LAKE CITY - Nadine Carroll Morgan of Lake City died here Feb. 25 after a short illness. She was 88.

Mrs. Morgan was a homemaker.

Born in Waycross, Ga., she lived in Mount Dora for 63 years before moving from Alachua to Lake City a year ago.

Mrs. Morgan was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mount Dora, the Order of the Eastern Star, the Azalea Circle Garden Club, the Fine Arts Club and the Business Professional Women's Club of Mount Dora.

She was preceded in death by two husbands, Lewis Carroll and Roy Morgan; and a son, Lewis Carroll Jr.

Survivors include a son, William E. Carroll of Columbia, S.C.; a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Carroll Christie of Alachua; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Ernest Wilson Tyler

OCALA - Ernest Wilson Tyler of Ocala died Wednesday at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He was 73.

Mr. Tyler was a commercial and residential painter. He also served in the Army Air Forces during World War II.

Born in Gainesville, he lived in Sacramento, Calif., for 44 years before moving to Ocala three years ago.

Mr. Tyler was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Sacramento, Calif.

Survivors include his wife, Erma Boyd Tyler of Ocala; and a brother, Timothy W. Tyler of Gainesville.

Ovella Gordon Wilson

Ovella Gordon Wilson of Gainesville died Tuesday at Shands at AGH after a brief illness. She was 58.

Mrs. Wilson was a certified nursing assistant for the American Association of Retired Persons.

Born in Hawthorne, she attended Santa Fe Community College, and moved to Gainesville 40 years ago.

Mrs. Wilson was a member of the Mount Zion A.M.E. Church in Hawthorne, where she was a senior choir member and member of the Stewardess Board.

Survivors include a daughter, Laura Gordon Cue of Lafayette, La.; a son, Roderick Patrick Peterson of Hawthorne; her parents, David and Myrtle Gordon of Hawthorne; four sisters, Eva Proctor, Nancy Davis and Persilla Gordon, all of Hawthorne, and Gwendolyn Woods of Lafayette, La.; five brothers, James Gordon of Fort Myers, Harold Gordon and Roger Gordon, both of Hawthorne, Ronald Gordon of Kissimmee and David Gordon Jr. of Citra; and three grandchildren.

Alma Mehaffey Alday

Alma Mehaffey Alday of Gainesville died Monday at North Florida Regional Medical Center. She was 89.

Mrs. Alday was a homemaker.

Born in Parrish, she moved from Sarasota to Gainesville 72 years ago.

Mrs. Alday was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Gainesville Woman's Club, the Gladiolus Circle of the Gainesville Garden Club, and the United Methodist Women.

She was preceded in death by her husband, V.H. Alday.

Survivors include three sons, Doyle Webb and Bobby Alday, both of Gainesville, and John Webb of Fountain City, Ind.; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
