Bainbridge Colby Roberts

WORTHINGTON SPRINGS - Bainbridgecq Colby Roberts of Worthington Springs died Tuesday at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Gainesville after a brief illness. He was 77.

Mr. Roberts was a retired correctional officer at North Florida Reception Center. He also served in the U.S. Navy.

He was born in Charlotte Harbor and moved from Lake Butler to Worthington Springs five years ago.

Mr. Roberts was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Lake City.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda Gilstrap Roberts of Lake Butler; five daughters, Teresacq Hutchins of Edgewater, Diana Crawford, Tammy Gartmancq and Terrycq Stoddard, cq all of Lake Butler, and Karen McQuaigcq of Fort White; four sons, George C. Roberts of New Smyrna Beach, Kenneth Roberts of Port Orange, Steve Holmes of Tifton, Ga., and Mark Holmescq of Point Mugu, cq Calif.; three brothers, Henry Grahamcq of Wauchula, Thomas C. Roberts Jr. of Port Charlotte and Wayne Roberts of Lake Butler; a sister, Gayle Beisswangercq of St. Louis; and 19 grandchildren.

Catherine Rollins

Catherine Rollins of Gainesville died Saturday at her home after a short illness. She was 65.

Mrs. Rollins was a retired behavioral program specialist at Tacachale.

She was born in Williston and moved from Williston to Gainesville 42 years ago.

Mrs. Rollins graduated from Levy County schools and attended Bethune-Cookman College in Daytona Beach.

She was a member of University City Temple No. 900, where she was a treasurer, Senior Mother of the Juvenile Department, and was a deaconess at Mount Moriah Baptist Church, where she was a member of the LaTillman Mass Choir, Pastor's Aide Committee and the Jerusalem District Women's Home Mission. She was past daughter ruler of Orange Blossom Council District One for the Elks Club.

Survivors include her husband, Johnnie Rollins Sr. of Gainesville; two sons, Johnnie Rollins Jr. and Angelocq Rollins, both of Gainesville; two daughters, Vivian Lang and Teressacq Hill, both of Gainesville; six sisters, Lillie Pearl Strong of Micanopy, Dorothy Strong, Francescq Little and Viola Davis, all of Williston, Dorethacq Dukes of Gainesville and Gussie McCray of New York City; four brothers, Eddie Strong of Orange Lake, Raymond Strong of Gainesville, Willie Lee Strong of Brooksville and Alchestercq Strong of Arcadia; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Harold M. Howard

CHIEFLAND - Harold M. "Don" Howard of Chiefland died unexpectedly Tuesday at his home. He was 63.

Mr. Howard retired as a manger of the Huddle House in Chiefland. He served in the U.S. Air Force in the administration field.

He was born in Brooker and moved from Dundee to Chiefland 10 years ago.

Mr. Howard received an associate of arts degree from Polk Community College in Winter Haven.

He was a Baptist.

Mr. Howard enjoyed fishing, reading, photography and carpentry.

Survivors include his wife, Glenna S. Howard of Chiefland; a daughter, Donna Nixon of Winter Haven; a stepdaughter, Elaine Wiglecq of Winter Haven; his father, Carlton Howard of Fort Myers; a sister, Jean Rodriguezcq of Winter Haven; and four grandchildren.

Theodore Ross

Theodore "Teddy" Ross of Gainesville died Friday at North Florida Regional Medical Center after a short illness. He was 73.

Mr. Ross was a retired head waiter at Morrison's Cafeteria and a maintenance supervisor at Florida Farm Bureau. He also served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He was born in Jacksonville and moved from Jacksonville to Gainesville 35 years ago.

Mr. Ross was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Catherine Ross of Gainesville; three sons, Theodore Ross Jr. of Las Vegas, Kevin W. Ross of Gainesville and Charles Ross of Jacksonville; three brothers, Albert Ross and Ladiscq Ross, both of Gainesville, and Nathaniel Ross of Fort Myers; and one granddaughter.

Karola Marriannee Smith

Karola Marriannee "Koly" Smith of Gainesville died Monday at Shands at the University of Florida after a long illness. She was 51.

Mrs. Smith owned a cleaning service. She was born in Asburg, Germany, and moved from North Carolina to Gainesville 29 years ago.

Mrs. Smith was a Pentecostal.

Survivors include four daughters, Sheila Futch of Interlachen, Margot Stombaugh and Misty Gardner, both of Gainesville, and Barbara Gardner of Lake City; three sons, John Stombaugh of Fort Myers, and Chris Beckham and Robert Smith, both of Gainesville; two sisters, Dale Hodges of Iceland and Veronica Cumbus of Dunnellon; and several grandchildren.

Nathaniel Hawthorne Thomas Sr.

Nathaniel Hawthorne Thomas Sr. of Gainesville died Monday at Shands at AGH after a long illness. He was 80.

Mr. Thomas was a retired shipping clerk at Cox Furniture Co. He was born in Alachua and moved to Gainesville 60 years ago.

Mr. Thomas was a deacon at Day Spring Missionary Baptist Church in Gainesville.

Survivors include his wife, Hazel Ellis Thomas of Gainesville; two sons, Anthony Thomas of Gainesville and Chad Thomas of Tallahassee; three daughters, Wanda Ellis, Thomasenacq Murphy and Alisha Shell, all of Gainesville; a sister, Ruby L. Jones of Jacksonville; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Gracie Williams

HAWTHORNE - Gracie Williams of Hawthorne died Aug. 18 at Shands at AGH in Gainesville after a brief illness. She was 88.

Mrs. Williams was a retired cook and a lifelong resident of the Gordon Chapel Community of Hawthorne.

Mrs. Williams was a member of Mount Zion A.M.E. Church in Hawthorne, where she served on the Stewardess Board and the Minister Spouse Alliance.

She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. E.J. Williams; and a daughter, Louise Williams.

Survivors include two daughters, Lizziecq Williams and Elaine Williams, both of Hawthorne; two sisters, Helen Hutchinson of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Allicecq Mae Crumpton of Cocoa; two brothers, James Hutchinson of Hawthorne and Wilford Hutchinson of Penn Yan, cq N.Y.; 16 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Jennie Wilson

MICANOPY - Jennie Wilson of the Brushlot community in Micanopy died Aug. 18 at Shands at AGH in Gainesville after a long illness. She was 65.

Mrs. Wilson was a retired environmental service employee at Shands at AGH.

She was born in Micanopy and moved back to Micanopy 19 years ago. Mrs. Wilson was a 1955 graduated of Fessenden High School.

She was a stewardess and Sunday school teacher at St. Paul Free Methodist Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Linda Lewis of Flemington, Mae Bell Wilson of Gainesville and Mary J. Holsey of Severn, Md.; four sons, Alphonso Wilson and Alfred Wilson, both of Orange Lake, Alton Wilson of Huber Heights, Ohio, and Willie Wilson of Micanopy; her father, Arthur Floyd Sr. of Micanopy; two brothers, Arthur Floyd Jr. and Robert Floyd, both of Micanopy; two sisters, Mary Alice Perry and Christine Floyd, both of Flemington; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Ronald Edward Cline

Ronald Edward Cline of Gainesville died Sunday at Shands at AGH after a long illness. He was 42.

Mr. Cline was employed at the archivist resource services department at the George A. Smathers Libraries at the University of Florida.

He was a lifelong resident of Gainesville.

Survivors include his mother, Clara Cline of Gainesville; his father, Eugene Cline of Gainesville; a sister, Sharon L. Griffin of Gainesville; and a brother, Kenneth E. Cline of Gainesville.

Angelina Casas de Torres

Angelina Casas de Torres of Gainesville died Sunday at Shands at AGH. She was 89.

Mrs. de Torres was a retired elementary school teacher.

She was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and moved from Puerto Rico to Gainesville six months ago.

Mrs. de Torres was a Lutheran.

Survivors include a daughter, Maria Torres Glicco of Gainesville; two grandsons; and one great- grandson.

Expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Gainesville.

Gail Frances Driggers

LIVE OAK - Gail Frances Driggers of Live Oak died of cancer Monday at North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville. She was 47.

Mrs. Driggers was a secretary for PCS Phosphate in White Springs.

She was a lifelong resident of Live Oak.

Mrs. Driggers was a member of Westwood Baptist Church in Live Oak.

She enjoyed camping with her family.

Survivors include her husband, Raymond Driggers of Live Oak; two daughters, Kim Hingson and Sherri Greek, both of Live Oak; a stepson, Bruce Driggers of Jennings; four brothers, Johnnie Severance of Roanoke, Va., Freddie Severance of Live Oak, Donald Severance of Tallahassee and Nick Dees of Warner Robbins, Ga.; four sisters, Norma Jean Phillips of Virginia Beach, and Mary Ann Sura, Betty Crosby and Sheryl Hunter, all of Live Oak; and two grandchildren.
