Dorothy Ware

NOV. 21, 1913 -- SEPT. 19, 2004

ORMOND BEACH -- Dorothy D. Ware, 90, of Maria Street, a native of Harrisburg, Pa., died Sunday at Florida Hospital-Ormond Memorial.

Mrs. Ware, a homemaker, moved to this area in 1968 from Roslyn, Pa. She was a member of Ormond Beach Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Susan Pfeiffer, South Daytona, and Jo Ann Eldridge, Portland, Ore.; four grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Haigh-Black is in charge.

Margery West

JULY 14, 1916 -- SEPT. 19, 2004

ORANGE CITY -- Margery C. West, 88, of North Lake Drive, a native of New Smyrna Beach, died Sunday at Florida Hospital Fish Memorial.

Mrs. West, a retired secretary with the U.S. Government, was a longtime resident of this area. She was a graduate of DeLand High School and managed Stetson Flower Shop many years ago. She was a member of Emmaus Lutheran Church. She was a graduate of Florida State College for Women. Mrs. West enjoyed painting and fishing.

Survivors include two brothers, Whiteford Colee, New Smyrna Beach, and Henry Colee Jr., Ocala. Settle-Wilder, New Smyrna Beach, is in charge.

Central Coates

APRIL 12, 1913 -- JUNE 9, 2004

HOLLY HILL -- Central Pou Coates, 91, of Florida Avenue, a retired painter, died Wednesday at Halifax Medical Center, Daytona Beach.

Mr. Coates, an Army veteran of World War II, was born in Johnson County, N.C., and moved to this area in 1974 from Norfolk, Va. He was a member of Painters Union No. 1010, Orlando. Mr. Coates enjoyed fishing, hunting and travel.

Survivors include a son, Anthony, Holly Hill; two brothers, Miriam "Bill, " Daytona Beach, and Clinton Coates, Virginia Beach, Va.; and a sister, Marilla Parrott, Daytona Beach. Woodward, Holly Hill, is in charge.

June Bennett

JUNE 30, 1921 -- MARCH 26, 2005

ASTOR -- June Bennett, 83, of Maple Road, the former owneroperator for 35 years of the Circus Bar, Daytona Beach, died Saturday at home.

Mrs. Bennett was born in Chicago and moved to Astor in 1968 from Daytona Beach. She was the past president of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1390 Ladies Auxiliary, Daytona Beach, and a member of the Pilot Club and the Elks Lodge, Ormond Beach.

Survivors include three sons, Steve Starkey, Astor, Bill Williams, Port Orange, and James Starkey, South Daytona; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Beyers, Astor, is in charge.

Kathleen Bonanza

APRIL 26, 1943 -- MARCH 26, 2005

EDGEWATER -- Kathleen P. Bonanza, 61, of Kumquat Drive, a resident since 1965, died Saturday at Florida Hospital Fish Memorial, Orange City.

Mrs. Bonanza, a homemaker, moved to this area from her native East Northport, N.Y. She enjoyed crocheting.

Survivors include her husband, Joseph; two sons, Joseph Jr., DeLand, and Russell, Edgewater; seven daughters, Dawn, Megan and Nicole Bonanza, all of Edgewater, Tracy Ford, Orange City, Mary Housley, DeLand, Dorothy Smith, Pensacola, and Kathleen Tillis, Lake Mary; her mother, Kathleen Nill, Edgewater; 23 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Palm Coast, 149 S. Ridgewood Ave., Suite 400, Daytona Beach, FL 32114. Dudley, Edgewater, is in charge.

Hazel Bradeen

NOV. 15, 1920 -- MARCH 28, 2005

DELAND -- Hazel I. Bradeen, 84, of South Dexter Avenue, who owned and operated Hazel's Beauty Salon in Haverhill, Mass., until her retirement in 1958, died Monday at Alliance Community Center for Health Care.

Mrs. Bradeen moved here from her native Haverhill in 1958. She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church and enjoyed dancing.

Survivors include two sons, Wayne and Steven, both of DeLand; a daughter, Janet Dempsey, Orange City; a brother, Earl Comeau, Concord, Mass.; three sisters, Louise Comeau, DeLand, Evelyn Clark, DeBary, and Lorette Poulin, Bradford, Mass.; and five grandchildren. Allen-Summerhill, DeLand, is in charge.

Elinor Browne

AUG. 29, 1922 -- MARCH 25, 2005

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Elinor B. Browne, 82, of Magnolia Street, who retired as a registered nurse at Halifax Medical Center, Daytona Beach, died Friday at home.

Mrs. Browne, a member of the Women's Army Air Corps during World War II, was born in Niles, N.Y. She moved to this area in 1977 from Cayuga County, N.Y. She was a graduate of Auburn City Hospital Nursing School, Auburn, N.Y., and received her bachelor's degree in nursing from Syracuse University, Syracuse, N.Y.

Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Browne, New Smyrna Beach; a brother, Charles Bevier, Skaneateles, N.Y.; a sister, Louise Gilfus, Trumansburg, N.Y.; and former son-in-law, Milo Congden, New Smyrna Beach, who provided for her care. Dudley, New Smyrna Beach, is in charge.

William Cannon

OCT. 4, 1983 -- MARCH 25, 2005

HOLLY HILL -- William Joseph "Billy" Cannon, 21, of 15th Place, a roofer, died Friday from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on U.S. 1 and Granada Boulevard in Ormond Beach.

Mr. Cannon was born in Lebanon, Ind., and moved here in 1997 from Newburgh, N.Y. He enjoyed music, Reebok shoes and jewelry.

Survivors include his fiancee, Nikki; his mother, Ginny; and two brothers, Darrel and Kenneth Subick, a sister, Alicia Cannon, and his maternal grandmother, Josephine Horvath, all of Ormond Beach. Volusia Memorial, Ormond Beach, is in charge.

Alice Cesari

SEPT. 19, 1923 -- MARCH 26, 2005

PALM COAST -- Alice Joan Cesari, 81, of Fenwood Lane, who moved here in 1995 from Clifton, N.J., died Saturday at Florida Hospital-Flagler.

Mrs. Cesari, a homemaker, was born in Passaic, N.J. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, New Jersey Club of Palm Coast and the Cordial Women's and Primetime clubs in New Jersey. Mrs. Cesari enjoyed knitting and reading.

Survivors include her husband of 44 years, Gino; two sons, Gino Cesari, Fort Lauderdale, and Richard Hnatt, Chatsworth, Ga.; a daughter, Gail Bailey, Palm Coast; a brother, Robert Paschenko, Clifton; a sister, Bernice Canonico, Arizona; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 555 W. Granada Blvd., Suite A-1, Ormond Beach, FL 32174. Clymer, Bunnell, is in charge.

Robert Chestnut

JULY 20, 1946 -- MARCH 27, 2005

DELTONA -- Robert Lee "Bob" Chestnut, 58, of Joyner Drive, a truck driver for Britt Transport in Astatula before his retirement, died Sunday at Florida Hospital Fish Memorial, Orange City.

A native of Miami, Mr. Chestnut moved here from Sanford in 1992. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church and enjoyed fishing, camping and stock car racing.

Survivors include his wife of 11 years, Carol; two daughters, Mary Ann Zare, Palm Harbor, and Debra Ann Chestnut, St. Petersburg; a brother, Marcus, Lake City; a sister, Juanita Hollingsworth, Gainesville; and two grandchildren. Deltona Memorial, Orange City, is in charge.

David Cloud

APRIL 20, 1946 -- MARCH 26, 2005

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- David Walter Cloud, 58, of East 27th Avenue, a self-employed master carpenter, died Saturday at Bert Fish Medical Center.

Mr. Cloud was born in Annapolis, Md., and moved to this area in 1965 from Orlando. He was a member of the Civil Air Patrol and the Boy Scouts of America. He was a volunteer with the Volusia County Fire Department. Mr. Cloud enjoyed the outdoors and fishing.

Survivors include a daughter, Sharon Guthrie, Port Orange; his mother, Alverna Cloud, Winter Park; a brother, James, Shawnee, Kan.; a sister, Barbara Cloud-Weisman, Temple Terrace; and a grandchild. Alavon Direct Cremation, South Daytona, is in charge.

Monsignor Achille D'Anca

MARCH 3, 1919 -- MARCH 20, 2005

PALM COAST -- Monsignor Achille J. D'Anca, 86, of Beachway Drive, a priest at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, died March 20 at home.

Monsignor D'Anca was born in the Bronx, N.Y., and moved to this area in 1990 from Brooklyn, N.Y.

Survivors include a sister, Jean D'Anca, Palm Coast. Memorial donations may be made to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 4600 Belle Terre Parkway, Palm Coast, FL 32137. Clymer, Bunnell, is in charge.

Thomas Eckman

MAY 24, 1956 -- MARCH 26, 2005

SOUTH DAYTONA -- Thomas "Skip" Eckman, 48, a self-employed tile setter, died Saturday at Florida Hospital-Ormond Memorial.

Mr. Eckman was born in Modesto, Calif., and moved here from Alabama in 1984.

Survivors include his wife of 12 years, Adrienne; three sons, Thomas, Vincent and Jeffrey, and a daughter, Krissy, all of South Daytona; and several sisters and brothers, including, Tim, South Daytona. Alavon Direct Cremation is in charge.
