MAHONEY, James Robert `Bob`, 80, of Tampa passed away Tuesday, November 6, 2001. Preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Betty B. Mahoney. He is survived by his daughters, Toni Mahoney Knie and her husband, Richard E. of Petersburg, Tenn. and Sharon M. Stringfellow and her husband, Daniel R. of Valrico, Fla.; four grandchildren, Carol Elizabeth Reynolds and her husband, Maj. Robert Reynolds, U.S. Army, Robert Mahoney Knie, Elisabeth Perrine and her husband, Charles and David R. Stringfellow; and two great- grandchildren. A native of Jacksonville, Fla., he has resided in the Tampa area since 1988 coming from Orange Park, Fla. Bob was a radar navigator, a Lt. Col. in the U.S. Air Force, Past Executive Director of Kappa Sigma Fraternity and a member of St. Matthews Anglican Church. A Me morial service will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Saturday at St. Matthews Anglican Church. MARR, Herbert, 40, of Tampa, died November 9, 2001. Survived by parents, Henry Marr Sr. and James Atwaters; brothers and step-sister, Nathaniel W. Tindall II, Henry Marr Jr., Herman Marr, Harold Marr Sr. and Cassandra Atwaters-Herds and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral service will be held Thursday, November 15 at 11:00 a.m. at Ray Williams Memorial Chapel and the visitation will be Wednesday, November 14 from 4-8:00 p.m. Ray Williams Funeral Home, Rhodes & Northern 253-3419.

MATTHEWS, Sybil, 71, of Brooksville, Fla., died Monday, November 12, 2001 at her home. Survivors include her husband, Eugene L.; sons, Rudy of Tampa and Ron of Brooksville; a daughter, Rita Newman of Brandon; two brothers, William Todd, Jr. of Atlanta, Ga. and Charles Todd of St. Petersburg; a sister, Ruth DeKeno of Brandon; an uncle, H.C. Kent of Thomaston, Ga.; and five grandchildren, Deborah , Michael, Scott, Jeff and Christopher. Born in La Grange, Georgia, she came to this area 23 years ago from Tampa. She was a homemaker and Protestant by faith. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Thursday at Turner Funeral & Cremation Center where funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. with Reverend Chuck Merkle officiating. Burial will follow Florida National Cemetery.

McVEY, Edith Norma, 77, of Ruskin, passed away November 9, 2001 in Sun City Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, William. She is survived by two sons, Gene Estill of Apollo Beach and Barry Estill of Laurel, Md.; a daughter, Nita Edger of Huntingtown, Md.; two sisters, Sybil Errico of Alexandria, Va. and Barbara Ann Chadwick of Anderson, S.C.; six grand- children and seven great- gr andchildren. A native of Honea Path, S.C., Mrs. McVey moved to the area 29 years ago from Suitland, Md. She was a homemaker. A visitation for family and friends was held on Monday evening from 6-8:00 p.m. at Lewers Funeral Home. Funeral Services were held on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at Lewers Funeral Home. NEAL, Julian, age 49, lifelong resident of Tampa, died Monday, November 12, 2001 at his home. He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen P. Neal and is survived by several cousins. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 16, 2001 at the graveside in Oaklawn Cemetery, Plant City, Fla. The Rev. James A. Harnish, Pastor of Hyde Park United Methodist Church will officiate.

Survivors include her loving companion, John Wolfe; daughter, Jill Nolan; son, Thomas Wolfe; parents, Thomas and Carolyn Nolan; siblings, Debby, Kay, Candy and Steve. SCAGLIONE, James A., 46, passed away Sunday, November 11, 2001. He is survived by his parents, Jimmie and Frances Scaglione; sister, Jamie Overton and husband, Ken; brother John and wife, Mona; niece, Denise Overton; nephews, Kenny and Jarrett Overton; uncles, Frank and Peter Scaglione, Domenic and Mike Clementi and several cousins. Born in Southgate, California, he was a lifelong resident of Tampa and Seffner, a graduate of Tampa Catholic High School, and was owner of Scaglione's Automotive for many years. Pallbearers will be Domenic Clementi, Ken, Kenny and Jarrett Overton, Frank and John Scaglione. Honorary Pallbearers, Frank and Maurice Clementi, Charlie Fender, Curtis Hodges, Dale, David and Peter Scaglione, Joe Tamborello, Frank and Tom Traina. Born April 26, 1941 in Be verly, Mass. she moved to Seffner in 1982 from Whitman, Mass. She was a travel counselor at American Express Travel Agency in Tampa. A Catholic, she attended St. Francis of Assisi Church in Seffner. STENSTROM, Joe V., 65, of Brooksville, Fla. died November 10, 2001. He was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy; and son, Chris. He is survived by two sons, Iver and Stanley (Debbie); three grandsons, Joey, Chris and Nicholas; mother-in-law, Eudell Bennett; brothers-in-law, Delvin and Dorman Bennett, all of this area; and sister, Ina (J.C.) Powell of Valrico. Born in Sanford, Fla., he moved from the Tampa area 17 years ago. He was a small business entrepreneur, a foster parent in Hernando County and United Methodist by faith. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday at Turner Funeral Homes Spring Hill Chapel, services following at 11:00 a.m. Graveside service will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens of Thonotosassa, Fla. at 1:30 p.m.

STEWART, Edna, 94, passed away November 12, 2001 after a prolonged illness. She is survived by her loving children, Nancy Mellon Chapman, Thomas Finley, Julia Lawhon; nine grandchildren, Mark, Matt, Garry Mellon and Cindy Butler, Steve and Mike Lawhon, David and Stephon Finley, and Tommy Finley; 13 great-grandchildren. She live most of her life in Easley, S.C., and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Easley, S.C. STEWART, Mildred Eskridge, age 89, died Monday in a Tampa Hospital. She was born in Plant City, March 29, 1912. Her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. J.R. Eskridge, came to Plant City in 1909. She was predeceased by her husband, H.M. Stewart, Sr. and her brother, Joseph A. Eskridge. Surviving her, is her son, H.M. Stewart Jr.; her grand- daughters, Nancy Elliot, Debra Morgan, Tammy Morris and six great-grandchildren all of Plant City. Also Surviving is her brother, John C. Eskridge II of Tampa and her sister, Caroline Eskridge (Mrs. Bernard) Raboy of Orlando. Mrs. Stewart graduated from Plant City High School in 1931 and from Florida Southern College in Lakeland, Florida. She was an elementary school teacher and Librarian in the Hillsborough County School system for many years. After her r etirement she enjoyed traveling all over the United States as well as Europe, Australia and New Zealand. She was a kind and gracious lady who was generous with her family and friends. She was the first person to be baptized in the, then new, First Baptist Church on Collins Street. Mrs. Stewart continued to hold P.O. Box 85 at the Plant City Post Office which was rented by her grandfather, the late John C. Eskridge, Sr. when he came to Plant City in 1909. The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 15, 2001 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. and services will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Oaklawn Cemetery in Plant City.

Memorial service to be given by Bill Thayer at the Plant City Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses located at 3202 N. Maryland Ave., Saturday, November 17, 2001 at 3:00 p.m.

TAPIA, Irma Emelina, of Tampa, passed away November 12, 2001. She is survived by her four sons, Richard, George, Joseph and Raymond; two sisters, Ofelia Aday and Hortense Rios; 11 grand- children and 19 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Faith Tabernacle of Tampa, 2816 N. Nebraska Ave. Friends and family will meet at 12 noon on Thursday at the church for funeral procession to Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery.

TOSCANO, Joseph V. (Doc), of Sun City Center, passed away October 15, 2001. Survived by wife, Margie and a loving family. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Friday, 11:00 a.m., November 15, at Prince Of Peace Catholic Church.

Survived by his wife, Doris Rainville of Zephyrhills; three daughters Terri Nelson of Jackson, Miss., Mitzi and Doug Watkins of Waterfall, Pa., Nancy and John Luallen of Anniston, Ala.; eight grand- children, Robert Jewel, Jeremy, Cobb, Richard Watkins, Daniel Jewel, Holly Watkins, Timothy Watkins, Michael Jewel, and Joel Bl anks; a sister, Mona Shahan of Colebrook, N.H.; and three cousins, Barbara Reynolds, Pricilla and Bruce Moore and Norma Roberts all of Lancaster, N.H. A Funeral Service will be held 5:00 p.m. Friday, November 16, at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Odom officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service Friday from 4-5:00 p.m. at the church. Mr. Rainville was a veteran of th e Air Force serving in the Korean Conflict, he was the owner/ operator of a trucking company, a member of the First Baptist Church of Zephyrhills, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the American Legion in New York. He was born June 7, 1929 in Colebrook, N.H. and came to this area seven years ago from Romulus, N.Y.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn; two daughters, Beverly Wilson of Riverview and Cathy Scovill of Madison, Ala.; a son, Dale Teetor of Lake St. Louis, Mo.; and three grandchildren. A native of Nebraska, he moved to this area in 1992 from Houghton Lake, Mich. He was a member and past President of the Beaverton, Mich. Lions Clu b, and was a member of the Elks Lodge, Eagles Club and VFW. Funeral Services will be held in the Chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home on Saturday, November 17, 2001 at 4:00 p.m. with Pastor Chris Christopherson officiating. Burial will be at Florida National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3-5:00 p.m. on Friday afternoon at the funeral home and again one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
